    Salmon Kama (collar)

We were seated pretty quickly for a walk-in party of 2 for a Friday lunch, though some of the specials (like treasure box) were sold out already. A cute little hidden gem in a very random strip mall. I've heard a lot of really great things about this restaurant and was really excited to try it! Tai Chazuke: snapper over rice with a delicious hot broth to pour over. I chose the tea broth option, though I think I would've preferred the richer dashi broth more. Fish was tender with a mild flavor. Yuba: tofu skin with sea urchin and a sweet soy sauce. I thought the tofu skin was so silky and refreshing, with the perfect amount of sweetness to complement the more subtle flavor of the tofu. Hokkaidon: on the specials menu with scallop and roe imported from Japan. The scallops were soooo good and the roe was perfectly marinated! The uni portion was larger than I expected, though I generally prefer other varieties of uni. Salmon Kama: marinated salmon collar. The yuzu zest was quite subtle, but the meat was very tender and fatty and quite a good portion. I liked the crispy edges of the skin too. Stone grilled beef tongue: incredibly tender and delicious. Just a bit of salt and lime really brought out the natural flavor of the tongue. Overall, they serve very high quality ingredients and each dish was executed wonderfully. I loved seeing dishes that I don't normally see at typical Japanese restaurants. I can't wait to come back to try some of their well known dishes! (Like the house made soba and treasure box special)

Came here with coworkers and got the lunch bento sashimi. It was the perfect amount for me and was very delicious. The cost was about $38 for a green tea and my sashimi bento. A little more on the pricey side but it is fish. This restaurant is also small and cozy. Very authentic Japanese food!

Nice izakaya with good food! We had a reservation so were seated right away. The place is quite small so not many seats. We tried the housemade tofu which was fun and the salmon which was so good. The chicken soba was ok. The price is a bit steep but decent izakaya food.

Came by for dinner the other night and it was a decent experience. Made a reservation for dinner and our table was ready upon arrival. Parking was plentiful in the private strip mall lot and dining was available indoors exclusively. The menu was large and the restaurant also had a few daily specials. Started off with the sea bream miso which was different. I was expecting a piece of fish inside some dashi broth. The agedashi tofu was tasty with a tempura mushrom. The assorted tempura was a generous portion and came with a few dipping accoutrements. The highlight may have been the grilled black cod which was buttery smooth and grilled to perfection. The grilled beef tongue was tasty too. The soba was light and best finished sooner rather than later since the hot broth kept on cooking the noodles. The panna cotta was a tasty way to finish off dinner. ~$65/head after tax and gratuity for dinner

What a cozy Izakaya! Not fancy, just small and cozy to give an intimate feel. Waiting staff was eager to accommodate and foods excellent. The booths were on the clamp side -- I was forced to sit straight. If it is a bit closer to home, I will probably come every week.

This restaurant holds a special place in my heart, as it's the first higher-end meal I treated my parents to from my first corporate job. I cannot rave enough about how EVERY. SINGLE. DISH. IS. DELICIOUS! The first time I had Leichi, I wanted to go back the week after because it was that good. Service (with reservation) is always on point and food comes out quick. The waiters are welcoming and open to answering any questions. My favorites are the tempura octopus, homemade tofu, cold duck soba, black cod, hojicha panna cotta, and assorted sushi. They ship their fish from Japan, so it's always high quality and fresh. The sashimi is literally melt in your mouth. The housemade tofu is fresh and has the rich soy flavor. My boyfriend isn't a big tofu guy, but even he loved it. The black cod is cooked with sake and a must try! Their ginger ale is housemade with their ginger syrup. I'm always grabbing two cups whenever I go! The hojicha panna cotta is rich, creamy, and always a great end to any meal.

Came here with my husband for a lunch date and it was perfect. The restaurant is really cozy with tables separated by dividers. Here's what we got: Assorted tempura: 10/10 lightly coated and fried really well. It came with radish, ginger, and matcha salt. I will say the matcha salt just tastes like salt but it was fun! Harasu: 9/10 tasty salmon belly cooked perfected with crispy skin Sashimi bento: 9/10 sashimi was fresh Sweet raw shrimp: 10/10 they fry the head Potato salad: 9/10 the flavors are great but i don't love the texture over a bed of mixed greens. It was tasty but I wouldn't get it again given all the other options on the menu(:

I really enjoyed the ambiance as soon as I entered the restaurant. They quickly seated us on a Sunday night. I ordered chicken hot soba, eggplants, salmon cheekbone, poured tofu, chirashi and many other dishes. I love the traditional Japanese restaurants. If you like raw fish, it's the best place for you. The parking is very easy to find.

A Bay Area staple that is 100% worth visiting. Small, clean restaraunt. Make sure you call to make a reservation, or come early around the first hour of opening to make sure you don't need to wait in a long line. Hot Sake is great here, as well as the Lychee Highball. Recommend getting both! FOOD: Special Chirashi Bowl (8/10) - Ingrediants (scallop, ikura, uni) were really fresh. Only downside was that the bowl is small for it's price. Hamachi Carpaccio (7/10) - Solid fresh fish, but not as fatty as other places I've had in the bay. Sauce is very good though. Yuzu Ikura (6/10) - Interesting solid starter, but I think the radish slightly overpowers the ikura. Good with rice though. Steamed Gindara (9/10) - SO good! Fish was so tender, fatty and fresh, and the broth was amazing. Vinegared Scallop X Octopus (7/10) - Small portion but the freshness of the octopus and scallop really shined through. Nasu Dengaku (10/10!!!!) - So good. So good! Will order 2 of these next time i come. Perfectly cooked eggplant with a sweet miso sauce on top.

Duck udon at top, tai salad(L), goma tofu(R), gindara saikyo black cod at the bottom

We did a random Saturday lunch walk in and were seated immediately. Meals are all so good and seemed more authentic than some fusion Japanese places. My top favorite dish has to be: - Gindara Saikyo (black cod steamed in sake)!! It's so tender and light; I can literally eat a couple of these. Overall, prices are good. Would definitely come back just for the fish and the goma tofu dish!

Loved this place! If you're looking for traditional Japanese cuisine and small plates this is the place to go. Service was quick and the food quality was great. Ordered the chawanmushi, salmon chazuke, the seared scallops, and the duck dipping soba. My top dish was the salmon chazuke. I also loved the soba quality but thought the duck portions could have been larger given the price. Would come back to try more items!

I came here on a Saturday evening and was seated immediately at the bar. There were a lot of interesting items on the menu but I ended up getting uni topped tofu, cold noodles (recommended by my server), an ikura bowl, and the sashimi special. For one person, it was a good amount of food, and I did end up leaving some noodles behind. I felt that service was good, as I was checked in on multiple times, and that the food was excellent in taste and quality. The server offered to deep fry the shrimp head which I thoroughly enjoyed. The restaurant itself is small and quaint and felt like an intimate space. I enjoyed all of the items I ordered and would return to explore other food items.

Leichi is always so satisfying when I want nice Japanese cuisine! Service is very attentive, and while the restaurant is small, it's in a convenient location and cozy! Plenty of parking in the lot next to Lucky as well. Kaisendon here is spectacular 9/10 Duck soba is consistently good 8/10 Yuzu sorbet and the tofu dessert are 9.5/10 The scallop crudo style appetizer with basil oil wasn't their best work, flavors felt awkward and clashing 6/10

The tasty unagi and masago eggs went very well together. Salmon crab crunch roll were considerable and scrumptious with every bite. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Fugetsu. The bluefin tuna nigiri melted in my mouth I wish I ordered more. A standout for us was the Toni special roll which has your choice of fish inside with seared salmon and scallop on the outside. We accidentally showed when they were closed (our fault, didn't properly research), took some time to shop around, came back around 5PM by happenstance (no line at the moment) and were seated quickly with excellent service. A nice waitress took our orders, ice-cold water was given by a nice waiter (a pitcher of water sat beside us with chopsticks, spoons, and a napkin dispenser for convenience), then our food was promptly brought out by the waitress and waiter. Even faster than fast food service. Staff was incredibly polite and informational to my mother who had questions. They were very observant and aware of everything not just at our table but others and got us the check and a container for leftovers. Excellent customer service. Drinks and glasses served cold were a nice touch, water as well. The karaage (four pieces) was served first. Juicy and hot chicken thighs, nicely crisped up. Came with an excellent sweet sauce and lime to pair. Shortly after, my spicy tuna bowl. The spice and the taste were seemingly mild for my preference (however as I ate it with my spicy tonkotsu ramen broth, it became the perfect match), rice was perfect and the portion was heavier than I assumed which was a happy plus as a ricer lover. Personally love the seaweed bits. Whilst we began to eat the karaage, the waiter came and set our bowls of spicy tonkotsu ramens onto the table. We were able to take our time to eat our chicken, since as we eventually began to eat our noodles, they were still firm and the soup base was hot but not too hot to eat and enjoy right away. The egg is prepared absolutely perfect, the best I've had yet. It's the type of egg made for ramen. Broth was milky and delicious. I asked for extra woodear mushroom and menma on the side, as I do at every ramen spot I encounter, however I shouldn't have here because the topping portions were generous in-standing. However, I did still spoil myself to the extra toppings, so not a total loss since I really love menma and mushroom. I was also impressed by the spicy paste on top, actually felt a kick as someone who enjoys extremely spicy food. I overheard customers ask for "extra firm" noodles, so I might do so but the noodles were still wonderfully firm. Our order altogether came out to $89.98, not including tip. Overall, a wonderful space to frequent if you enjoy ramen and fast service. I'll have to come back with my brother :D

Anywho, we ordered a variety of items to try: new stamina don, clam chowder croquette, kani chirashi bento, and a salmon kama bento. Regarding the food: New stamina don came with slice beef, sliced beef tongue, braised pork, poached egg, and kimchi over rice. The sliced beef was cooked to rare, and the braised pork was very tender. The rice also came with the poached egg, kewpie mayo and a lemon, mixing it all together with the rice made it have a nice creamy flavor. Clam chowder croquette was something I have never heard of before, so I definitely wanted to try it. This was delicious, would definitely get it again. A fried crispy croquette with clam chowder in it but also some mashed potatoes and tonkotsu sauce on top. Kani chirashi bento had snow crab, fish roe over rice, rolled egg omelette, sashimi, fried boneless chicken, and edamame, blistered tomatoes and shisito peppers with pickles. The sashimi came with 4 pieces, 2 tuna and 2 salmon. the tuna was a little fishy but the soy sauce helped. The salmon was actually pretty good - good fattiness. The fried chicken was fine, a few pieces were dry. Overall this bento was good. Salmon Kama bento is salmon collar over rice, fried boneless chicken, takoyaki and edamame, blistered tomatoes and shisito peppers with pickles. The salmon collar needed some salt in my opinion. For the food overall, it was a little bit under seasoned for me but for portion, price and quality are good.

They have some appetizers and drinks on the happy hour menu, so we tried the gyoza, mochi and side tempura. The mochi had a house made sauce glaze that was sweet and salty, and came with nori as a wrap. The texture of the mochi was really soft and chewy. The gyoza were really crispy with a soft interior. We ended up ordering a second round of them. The tempura was nicely fried with not too much batter. The shrimp was really succulent and I liked that they have mushroom tempura too. From their regular menu, we ordered a bunch of food. I tried the yaki-onigiri ochazuke with salmon, fried chicken skin, the eggplant and various skewers. The fried chicken skin was really nice and crispy, and came with a ponzu sauce and mayo to dip in. The yaki onigiri was nicely grilled and still had crispy bits when submerged in the soup. We washed it all down with a bottle of chilled junmai sake. A nice touch: they bring over a basket filled with mismatched ceramic and glass sake cups so everyone can choose their own. Excellent food, comfortable atmosphere, and a welcome reminder that Japanese cuisine offers much more than sushi and ramen.
