Omg I've been missing out!! 25% off on food after 6pm. I stopped by after work and it was around 7:30pm. Apparently 8pm is 50% off because the store closes at 8:30pm. Lots of bento boxes to choose from. They have a wide array of Japanese items (Takoyaki, sushi, bulgogi and rice, Okonomiyaki, fish, katsu, etc). Honestly I felt overwhelmed (like a kid in the candy store). I couldn't decide on just 1 item!! I also browsed the cute merch and got myself a bag of matcha Kit Kat from Japan. I thought the price was great for the amount of food I got. Staff very nice and welcoming. Store is well kept and FIFO accordingly. I thought the yakisoba was ok. Okonomiyaki was decent. This is a dangerous place for blind box fans, not one is there delicious eats to pick up... Bunny's Cafe has a huge inventory of Miffy, Smiski, Sonny Angels and such - it's blind box galore. I have to make a stop here every time I am in the area. It is a grab and go place with hot eats to get in the back. The shop is set up that you can walk through everything and check out all the food and trinkets! There is a huge selection of Miffy dishware, this place is gold for any Miffy fan! Everything is neatly organized and staff will check you out once you've made your way through. My favorite to get is the white tuna tataki, the green onion in it is a must have in each bite! I always grab the onigiri (rice ball) when there too, they are generously packed with large pieces of protein. Parking does get hectic in the lot once it's gets later in the day, I always try to go early as possible or I play the parking lottery... parking waiting game? Patience is needed for sure. Very fun spot to grab ready to eat Japanese food and shop for trinkets, home goods, & blind boxes. They have tons of food options I don't usually see at Japanese markets or grocery stores like mentaiko pasta, okinomiyaki, pudding, etc. The food is also kept warm so it's ready to eat and you don't have to microwave! Prices are pretty reasonable (most hot foods were under $20). The okinomiyaki sampler was okay-- the toppings were good but the okinomiyaki base itself was a bit thick and had too much sauce. The shrimp tempura hand roll was super yummy though. They also have tons of blind boxes, sonny angels/smiskis, monchhichi, mofusand, miffy, snoopy, and other cute Japanese goods which was so fun to browse. The space is small inside so it gets pretty cramped when busy but the checkout line moves fast. They unfortunately don't have seating inside but do give out napkins & chopsticks when you check out. Repeated Fugetsu customer here! This is the perfect grab-and-go spot for your Japanese cravings. I have been to Fugetsu at least 8 times at this point and will definitely come here again. This spot is located in Strawberry Park in Saratoga and is right next to Clover Bakery. While Clover Bakery tends to have longer lines, I personally have never run into a scenario where Fugetsu is packed. There is no seating, by the way, and parking can get a little hectic because of the nature of this plaza. I will say that over the years, Fugetsu has really stocked up on its selection and range of food. When you first enter, they have their stock of okonomiyaki, yakisoba, and generous bentos. As you turn the corner, they have sashimi, onigiri, dons, and more. Sometimes I get decision paralysis, but in a good way. I want to note that while I have never been disappointed by the food I get here, there isn't anything that has blown me away either. That being said, whenever I am having a picnic, this is the first spot I think of when I want to stock up for my friends and me. What is cool about this place, too, is that half of the store is dedicated to food, while the second half has merch, trinkets, and dinnerware. They carry Sonny Angels, Smiskis, loads of Miffy items, some Sanrio, and if you're a Sylvanian Families collector like me, you'll really enjoy it here. That said, they do upcharge quite a bit on some items. For example, a Sonny Angel at Mitsuwa (in the same plaza) can be around $16 (which is still expensive), while here it's closer to $21. read more

We stopped here to pick up food for a picnic at John Mise Park. It's conveniently located in the Mitsuwa shopping center on Saratoga and Moorpark. Parking is tough, but that's not the fault of Fugetsu. The selection is great, and I enjoyed my combo meal of yakiniku and tonkatsu. Flavor was good and of course it's not on the same level as getting it made fresh to order for you, but for a picnic, it's great to have so many options like this. Service was friendly at the register and the store also has other fun Japanese goods like toy figures (though kind of overpriced). Interesting place actually. I have recently ordered food from here and it tasted very good. I thought I was going to get something very bland but it had a lot of flavor. There are a lot of good choices of what to buy and even better sushi costs lesser than the restaurants. Good place to buy bentos if you are heading to work or are going to the beach. For every day eating, please come at your own risk. Employees are very nice. Guiding me along the way to tell me what is inside each food box I see. They are very patient. I had bookmarked this place for a while and wanted to check it out, anyway. Parking in the lot outside wasn't too bad around 5pm. They had a few other customers but not too busy. The food, however, looked much better than they tasted. We got 5pcs of takoyaki to share, and all 3 of us didn't like it. They're small, soggy and seemed to have been in the heater for a long time; just nothing like the usual takoyaki we had at restaurants. My unagi don was also ... meh. The amount of unagi was ok, but the quality wasn't very good. It was chewy and not flavorful. There was quite a bit of rice, and could use more sauce or some furikake. Had a lot of fun here getting food for a picnic. There were so many options we had a hard time choosing, and my kids had to help me have some self control. Everything looked really fresh and held at the proper temperature. The staff were really polite and helpful for any questions we had. What an interesting little spot, with its blend of grab-and-go Japanese comfort meals and collectibles for sale. I visited for the first time on a weekend afternoon and while the cramped space was definitely packed, the line was surprisingly short and there was no wait when it came time to pay. While okonomiyaki is in the name, there's a number of other plates here that you won't find at the Japanese restaurants nearby (including the okonomiyaki, which isn't always an easy find on a menu in the Bay Area) alongside some well-known favorites. From omu soba to beef teriyaki don, from seafood shio yakisoba to hayashi rice, poke don, multiple variations of okonomiyaki, and so much more, there's something for everyone here. It's easy to get overwhelmed by the sheer variety, but take your time because you never know what might be waiting that day for you to try (the menu has its regular items but others seem to get discontinued and replaced from time to time). If you're not hungry for a full meal, there are snacks like onigiri, a kushi katsu station with a lot of different fried options (takoyaki, croquettes, etc.), or prepackaged snacks. Make your way down the aisle from the food to the collectibles on your way to the registers and see if there's anything you want to grab before you leave. I went with the hayashi rice plate and can't wait to go back for it again. It came with a decent amount of rice topped with scrambled egg and a dash of ketchup, two croquettes, a handful of vegetables, and a well of the beef in gravy with carrots and mushrooms. Absolutely delicious and satisfying. This place is awesome and I wish there were either more Fugetsus around the Bay Area or more places like it. Good food at good prices. read more

I finally made a point to check out the offerings at Fugetsu San Jose. It's on the corner of Moorpark & Saratoga, in the Strawberry Plaza. Fugetsu is a great spot to run in and out and grab some ready-made Japanese food for lunch, dinner, a picnic, or anytime you don't feel like cooking or sitting in a restaurant. Since my first visit, I've grabbed food on the go multiple times. Everything I've tried has been excellent! The Kani Poke had crab, tuna, & salmon over rice and a little seaweed salad garnish in addition to the green onions sprinkled on top. Another time I tried the Unagi, egg, & beef plate. I was really impressed that the eggs were easy scrambled and not overcooked, and the portion of unagi was quite generous. The Oden Kimbap was huge and filled with lots of tasty ingredients, and the unagi onigiri was good too. Fugetsu is definitely a great spot to grab some food to go. Fugetsu is a fun little shop I like to pop into when I'm making my rounds to Mitsuwa and Daiso. There's a huge selection of onigiri, bento boxes, and trinkets. I find that the price is a bit high for convenience market snacks and I find myself spending way more money here than I intend to! Over time I have tried several varieties of their onigiri and so far my favorite is the spicy mentai salmon, or anything with unagi, salmon roe, or hamachi. We've also tried the loco moco bowl,the saba shio bento and some of the curry donburi bowls. The food is pretty tasty. The staff at the checkout are always welcoming and friendly . The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is becuase the temperature the food is kept at is a bit questionable to me. I'm not too sure if I can recall a label on the food that dates the time the food was placed out, or if it has a label of freshness at all. If it does, it's either teeny tiny or unnoticeable. Sometimes the heat lamps feel really warm, other times not and the same goes for the refrigerated items with in relation to how cold it is. I'm not sure if the items were just restocked recently so they're not cold, but more often than not, a ton of items feel close to room temperature. Overall, it's a fun little shop worth checking out and I definitely need to try their okonomiyaki! read more

Finally stopped by this place and got a hamachi teriyaki onigiri which was delicious, unfortunately I had the salmon onigiri which I think was some type of roe that was spicy and I started to get itchy which is weird because I'm not allergic to roe since I had it before so maybe it was just an ingredient in it they used that made that happen. Other than that it was good I went later in the afternoon so not much choices for onigiris but they did have a lot of bentos, decent pricing. Overall rating: 5/5 A fun Japanese market with a lot of grab and go items. My partner and I stopped by around 6pm on a Saturday and saw a bunch of people coming in and out of the store. The interior is a bit dark but there are lights illuminating the food items. The layout of the store is organized in a fixed path. You get to see and browse all their items (hot, cold, drinks, cute accessory and toys, etc.) until you finally reach the cashier station. The workers were friendly and efficient. The first time I only got the warabimochi which was overpriced but actually really good. It brought back memories of my trips to Japan. The second time, I got one of the onigiri rice balls. It was just ok but tasted a bit weird. Honesty I think it was sitting there too long and I got a bit sick afterwards. Reading through their health department report basically confirms the issues with holding temperatures and time as a public health control. I really want to like and trust this place. They've added a vegan option! I was at Clover next door with my mom and decided to pop in since she'd never been here before. I walked in thinking they wouldn't have anything vegan, but I spotted a Vegan Onigiri! It's made with soy protein, edamame, and soy sauce. The person working there mentioned it's new, only a week old. I had to try it because I'm always interested in vegan options at non-vegan places. Plus, I really appreciate when restaurants make an effort to accommodate various dietary needs. It was delicious! I actually preferred it over the tofu onigiri at Clover. I recently visited again and this place changed so much! Plenty of parking still. It's cute how they have merchandise now, but I would say it feels more cramped inside. Good thing they have like the maze structure of one way out and in. The cashiers are always so nice, and have a smile on their face. Their food remains still so good! I always get their onigiris, which feels more like rice balls. Little pricey but it's huge to me and filling. I haven't seen another place make like their version of onigiris. I especially like the various salmon ones. I have tried their donburis before, and they were tasty and filling as well.
