Their service department is the worst. I've bought over 20 vehicles from LJF but won't again. The last one I bought I purchased the maintenance package. I can't even get anyone to talk to me to set up an appointment for my 70K check up. The last check up they told me it would take 3 hours to complete. After 45 minutes they said they were done. I questioned what they did and they didn't even do half of what was scheduled. I'm not tied to them after the 70K check up so I won't be going to them again for anything. read more

Apologized for misinformation from the Service receptionist and that my truck does NOT need to be in the shop to get parts ordered. Parts were ordered from old work order, and service date was scheduled. He apologized for the mix-up that was not his fault. The follow-up experience was much more thorough and appreciated. I will be using their service department to follow-up on the service that they diagnosed for me previously. Original Review: 1-star for the diagnosis, 0-stars for the rest of the experience. The only good part about my experience with Lief Johnson Ford's Service Department was that they diagnosed the noise my truck was making. It took them two full days, which was a huge pain considering they said it was a one-day diagnosis, but it gets worse. Service tech communication was poor. I had to call multiple times to get any feedback about the status of my truck several hours after they said they would be in contact with me...two days in a row. Then I get 3 separate online surveys about service, each commenting that someone would follow-up which never happened. After paying for my diagnostic work because they wanted me to leave my truck there for several days while parts were being ordered before repairs would take place and that not being at all possible with my schedule, they never attempted to schedule a follow-up appointment for the repairs. Now, I've tried to schedule a repair appointment and they tell me that my truck must be at their shop WHILE THEY WAIT FOR PARTS TO BE ORDERED or they can't do anything. I understand that they want some type of guarantee that I'll follow through with service when they order parts, but come on. I need my truck instead of it sitting in your parking lot waiting for parts. At least attempt to be customer-oriented, you're a SERVICE department. Zero help. If I hadn't already paid $150 for the diagnostic appointment that they (hopefully) apply to my repair, there's NO WAY I'd go back to Leif Johnson for service. Dennis was a great salesman, I went in and knew what I wanted and he showed me and with in a couple of hours I had my beautiful new Explorer. The only issues was that I requested a FOB (which I never got) and then I also need a second key. I was told to go back that Thursday and the key guy would be there. I went on Thursday and the manager said ok, took my key and came back with a "generic" fob and I asked him about a seat (drivers) that did not move back and forward, he said oh it probably a couple wires crossed, then I had previously asked for the keyless entry code and he suggested I you tube it to take off the panel to find it. I am a older lady and I am not taking a panel off to get the code that I asked for and then cant get the panel back on. I realize that this has nothing to do with the quality of my salesman, he was great and I think he tried to do what he could but the other issues were not so good. I wrote a email to Marcos Ramirez and he was so WONDERFUL he addressed all my issues and referred to me Hector Fuentes in the service department in the Buda location. Hector was AWESOME!!! He fixed my seat, got me 2 extra keys and the keys had all the buttons on them so I would not have to worry about the FOB. I would like to have had the original FOB as shown in my manual but its ok, If I ever have problems again you can guarantee that I will call Hector because he truly cares and shows that he cares and did a amazing job satisfying me with my new car. read more

I went in last week to test drive a Ford Flex. I met with used car sales person Melissa. She was amazing. While driving the car she noticed a noise while making a turn and pointed it out. I didn't hear anything until she mentioned it. Possible future axel problem I thought. We discussed other cars and she knew everything about each car. We didn't find anything this week but she is still looking and I will come back when she finds what I am looking for. I highly recommend her and had a great experience and can't normally say that while looking for a car. PS I am a girl so you know it's expected to expect the worst when looking. I have been Jeep shopping for the past 2 months and finally found a great Jeep at Leif Johnson Ford. Bradley help me and my parter and we had a really enjoyable experience. Everyone knows buying a car can take a little while and the whole time we were at Leif Johnson Ford, we had several sales people talking, joking, and laughing with us. It felt like we were hanging out with friends. There is none of the typical "salesy" vibes that you usually get from car dealerships. It is a very laid back, straight forward car buying process. I would highly recommend anyone that is looking for a car stop by and see Bradley and Clifford in the sales department. Ryan helped us with our financing and he was great to work with too! I have purchased 2 cars here in the past 5 months and both experiences have been pretty great. Clifford Hatch was our salesman and he was courteous and professional, when we have to return for oil changes and other reasons he is always there to say hello and make sure that we are taken care of. We can't appreciate him enough! I have had 2 trips to the service department and both have been wonderful. The most recent trip (today) was exemplary. As I was getting my Truck serviced for the 25k mile check up, I talked to Pedro Soto in new car sales. We went out for a test drive of a mustang and I expressed my concern with the 2016 F150 that doesn't have CarPlay available for my iPhone. When we came back to the dealership he was able to lead me through purchasing a replacement USB port ($60) on site and instructions on how to replace it on my own as well as doing the software update at home. He assured me that if I wasn't able to upgrade it on my own they would be happy to help as well. Pedro stuck by my side during the rest of my visit and ensured that my truck was ready to pick up. The 2 ladies at the service desk were personable and professional when my truck was ready. I followed Pedro's instructions and he was spot on! He texted me to make sure everything was great and I appreciate that follow up. My only critical feedback is that on this particular trip, the service technicians didn't check the tire pressure and ensure that they were correct. I did have to turn around while on the way home but when I arrived, they were prompt in correcting the issue. I was in and out the 2nd trip in 10 mins. Thank you LJ Ford and staff. read more

I had talked to Craig Johnson online when I found a Jeep for sale on a used car website. After talking about the price a bit, I decided it was worth going to look at even though I live 4 hours away. Checked it out, negotiated the price some more and decided I wanted to buy it (all these other reviews say how quick the process was to buy the car but I was waiting around for several hours). I drove it home and the very next day noticed a 1" chip in the housing of the passenger side mirror. I looked up how much that part would cost to replace and it was about $800 because I would have to replace the whole mirror mount. I decided that I either wanted to get some money back from Leif Johnson or return the vehicle within the 7 day return policy. I called the dealership and was told my salesman wasn't available but would call me back. He did not. I also emailed him. I called his cell phone the next day and said he was on vacation and would call me the next day. He actually did call back and told me there was no reason to return the vehicle because they would take care of this issue. He asked for my local Jeep dealership's name and number to see if they could get the local dealer to order and fix this problem. He later calls me back and says that they can't find the part from one of their wholesalers and that they were not going to do anything more to help. He also said that his manager was never planning on actually replacing the part. They were just going to help me find a lower cost mirror. He basically just delayed me from returning the vehicle within the 7 day period. Terrible experience overall. read more

Update: After they sold us the car months ago, we still have not received our license plates! The temporary one has already expired and we have followed up again and again and again with their customer service over the phone. They kept promising it would be in the mail before the expiration date. So, basically after spending thousands of dollars on a car we can't even drive it since it is now technically unregistered - we could get a ticket + get the car impounded if a policeman sees us driving the car. Customer service / office manager (not the salesperson) needs to do their job! read more

I only purchased my car from Leif Johnson Ford because the price was right. I dealt with a typical patronizing car salesman and I knew more about the car than he did. And of course the manager tried to sell me on all the warranties and maintenance packages. I actually purchased a maintenance package that includes oil changes. Bad decision! Every time I've taken my car in to have the oil changed, I've had to wait at least 4 hours!! After the 4th time this happened, I finally put my foot down and found out what was really going on. They supposedly don't keep the oil filter for my car on site. So they would send someone to buy one at Auto Zone while I waited. How stupid! So I suggested that they keep a stock of the oil filters handy. But no...these dummies asked me to call a week in advance to make an appointment to have my oil changed. Who makes an appointment to have the oil changed in their car?! All they had to do is stock pile the damn filters and it would have fixed the issue. So, now I take my car to Walmart. 30 minutes or less and I done. There are no stupid people and no damn appointments! read more

We brought my elderly Father from Lockhart to Leif Johnson so they could "appraise the car in person" the salesman was Jon Ballard. We were told one thing by him and a manager then this other guy "Anthony Patterson" a so-called manager overhears and takes over... the whole deal changed what a first class asshole this guy is! They both wasted our day my Father uses a walker to get around it was not easy for go in and out all the way to the street very inconsiderate! This review is for selling our used vehicle to Leif Johnson/ Riata Ford. We had been in contact over email with the dealership after they contacted us stating they were interested in buying our vehicle on Craigslist. We decided that selling to a dealership after they offered a fair price was the best option and would be less hassle than dealing with private buyers over craigslist, but unfortunately we were very wrong. When we arrived to sell the vehicle on a Saturday they struggled to get through the paperwork, putting incorrect information on the documents that we fortunately caught, such as incorrect mileage, dates, etc. We chalked it up to it not being the primary office that handled buying vehicles and were on our way, being told that in 3-5 business days the check would be ready after the title was confirmed clear. After leaving, we realized they never gave us back our driver's license. That was our first trip back to their offices, a not a huge deal or completely their fault but inconvenient no less. Fast forward 3 business days later and they informed us that a signature was missing from the title and we would have to go back to their offices to correct it, unsure why no one felt the need to call us when they should have been processing the paperwork for the last 2 days. We returned again to correct their mistake and were told to pick up the check at a different location (Riata Ford) when they called saying it was ready. Fast forward to Friday (Day 5 of the 5 business day agreement). WE had to call to follow up as we hadn't heard anything by mid day, after some pressing were told they would get it all finalized by the end of the day so we could pick up the check. Show up to the offices only to be informed that they CFO or owners aren't even in today and no one else authorized to sign it so we would have to wait until Monday but they would let us know as soon as it was ready. Again, Monday no call, so we followed up at lunch only to be told they were still waiting on the final signatures, but the people who needed to sign it were in the office but they couldn't guarantee they would actually sign and finish processing the check she had in her hand. At the same time, we were able to find our car, they had not paid us for, listed on their website iwanttobuyused.com FOR SALE!! Seems ridiculous that they can turn around a vehicle and have it posted for sale before they have even paid the actual owner of the vehicle!! After another tense phone call, we were able to finally pick up the check and finalize the entire transaction. Severely disappointed in the service and would NEVER return to buy or sell a vehicle to either dealership because it seems that absolutely no one we interacted with was able to follow through on their responsibilities and promises to the customers. Very glad we did not take them up on their offer to mail us the signed check as they originally suggested as it seems likely we would not have received it for several more weeks as we would not have been following up so closely. Luckily it didn't escalate to us needing to file in court against them to get the money we were owed before the vehicle made it into the hands of another person, but it seemed to be on the verge of that being our only option. read more

Managers were quick to contact me and address their concerns for my incredibly poor experience. As I already had another appointment, I stuck with it and allowed them the opportunity to give me the first-class service they promised. I was scheduled for: (A) 4 tire replacement, (B) Sync software update, (C) Recall on door handle, (D) State inspection. They offered to comp the labor for the tire installation and I asked for a vacuum/wash. The appointment I had scheduled was made weeks in advance and communication leading up to the date was regular as I worked with a customer representative to pick my tires and repeatedly confirm my service plan. *** Summary in last paragraph *** Originally, my appointment was set for 11AM, but I was asked to bring my vehicle in first thing in the morning, so they could ensure they had enough time for everything. In fact, it's important to note that I was forced to schedule on that day to accommodate their electric specialist's schedule. It definitely was not ideal due to my own schedule, but I was willing to schedule when they needed. Anyway, I obliged to their "first thing in the morning" request and woke up early on my precious day off to drop my vehicle off and retrieve my rental (a sedan, when I drive a small SUV). I expected a call from the customer representative about the tires soon after I left, but I didn't get an email until 2PM. That should have been my first sign that things were not going according to schedule. Up until the day of my appointment, we still had not decided on tires as he was still searching for a rebate or deal of some kind. That made me uneasy, but he eventually came through with a Buy 3, Get 1 Free coupon on the day of my appointment, so I was happy about that. Anyway, I could not commit to evening plans (on my vacation day/off) because I did not want to drink as I would be retrieving my vehicle. Of course, I got a call around 5PM that my vehicle would not be ready until the next day. The next day I drove their rental to work (it's important to note that I do not drive to work, I take the bus, but did so this exchange could happen ASAP and conveniently) and my bold assumption was that, since they had my vehicle for over 24 hours at that point, my vehicle would be ready and exchanged around the lunch hour. Nope. At 4:15PM I got a phone call saying the vehicle was ready for exchange. I was not happy, but did not show it as I wanted to get it all over with. When I got out to where the rental was parked, a Leif Johnson employee was parked next to it with my vehicle. At least I didn't have to wait. In all, they had my vehicle for two full work days. This is after plenty of preparation for my appointment. They did waive the tire installation labor and, from the looks of it, gave my car a wash and cleaned the front portion of the vehicle with a vacuum and Armoral. I ended up paying about $430 or so for four Michelin tires (with coupon) and another $18 for the inspection. Not surprisingly, service was kind and seemed interested in meeting my needs. But, again, attitude and intention were never really issues. I was in communication with three employees, one regularly, to secure service plans, and, per their request, even brought my vehicle in earlier than scheduled, yet somehow the work could not be completed as planned. So, in sum: Comp labor, apply a coupon, kind of clean my car, whatever, but nothing is more precious to customers like me than my TIME. LJ completely disrespected my time with my first visit (if you'll remember, 2 hours of me pleading for service WITH an appointment) and did not get it right the second chance either. I was really hoping, and ready, to write a rave review... better yet, I was really hoping to have found my "go to" shop for servicing my Ford. Unfortunately, that's not the case. If I ever come back to LJ, I'll be sure to have PLENTY of time on my hands and low expectations regarding their respect for and/or preparation to honor it. *** It's too soon to review the quality of work on Sync and the door handle... Leif Johnson Ford and Riata Ford did everything they could to get me into my new 2017 Ford Explorer. Excellent customer service

If I could give negative stars I would. I got my car repaired at this location back in May. They had my car for 3 weeks and not once did they call me to give me an update about what was happening. Anytime I needed to know when my car would be fixed I had to call them, their customer service agents were a real piece of work and gave me attitude when I called in. They wanted to charge me to use a rental even though what they were replacing was covered under my warranty and when I purchased the car I was told rentals would be covered as well. After several talks with a manager they finally allowed me to come get a rental, granted they had already had my car for two weeks. The rental that I picked up REEKED of cigarettes and BO, when I called them to switch it out, they said to not worry about it and that I wouldn't be charged for the cigarette smell....that wasn't the point. After I got my car back, the undercarriage was not attached properly and shook when I drove it, I called them and the person that I spoke with said to bring it by and they'll fix it, I asked if it would be fixed that day or if I would need to leave my car with them and they responded with "I am not really sure, really but we will get around to it when we can" I then rephrased the question by asking if they would have my car for another 3 weeks and she said "possibly". So needless to say, I took it to my own mechanic and paid out of pocket for him to fix it same day, they hadn't even screwed anything down on the undercarriage. This brings us to the most recent issue. I was supposed to get reimbursed for the charges of the tow truck I had to use to get my car towed to them. I was told to fill out the form and email it back, which I did and when I called after a week of not hearing anything the girl I spoke with cut me off mid sentence telling me I had to mail it in myself, I explained to her that is not what I was told and she then cut me off again being very defensive and said that I was misinformed. At this point I am beyond annoyed and asked to speak to a manager. I spoke with Jon Teller who is the service manager, he assured me that he would take care of everything. He was VERY responsive at first, but now I cannot get him to email me back or answer his phone. It has been 3 months since Leif Johnson had my car and I have had nothing but issues, they still owe me money and I am about ready to get my lawyers involved. I work in customer service and I know how to treat a customer and what over the top crazy customers are, I don't believe I am being over the top or dramatic. We paid $25,000 for a 2-year old car with only 38k miles. Once they had our money, the rest of the experience was a nightmare. -They showed the car to us dirty, and promised us it would be cleaned when we picked it up. Instead we got back a vacuumed car with no gas. - They promised us a 2nd set of keys and after hassling them for 6 weeks, we finally got our keys and license plates. -We've had the car for just 3 months now and it completely broke down. We just found out that the whole engine needs to be replaced! Assuming it would be covered by GMC's warrantee, we took it to the nearest GMC Dealership. Turns out that the car had never had any maintenance on it, and the oil was nothing but sludge. Had Leif Johnson actually inspected the car as they claimed to have, they would have noticed this. GMC's warrantee is voided when the problem is due to negligence, so we were on the hook for a $6,000 engine. However, the amazing staff at Covert GMC went to bat for us and convinced GMC that we were not the ones that neglected the car, being that we had just purchased it. GMC did EXACTLY as they should have and made the situation right; they agreed to replace the engine for a $500 deductible. We then went to the manager at Leif Johnson, and asked that they also make things right by paying the $500 deductible. While it wasn't their fault that the previous owner neglected the maintenance, it was clear they didn't do ANY inspection, including a simple oil change, which they said they did. We figured since GMC made the right decision on handling this, we could count on Leif Johnson to do the same. However, Chuck informed us that the cars are sold "as is" and after the 7-day waiting period, we are on our own. We told him that we've had better responsiveness, follow-thru, and overall treatment from Covert, and his response was, "Who cares, we sell more cars then they do". We have never been treated more poorly by a business or the individuals that represent that business. read more

Where do I begin?! In short, I would steer wide clear of this dealership. Here's why: 1. Told them we got an offer for this many $ on the same car, they come back with $+ $90 more. If we weren't in a rush, we wouldn't have agreed to the deal. 2. The brand new vehicle had a slew of problems that slowly started creeping up as it aged. That includes rusted parts (on a brand new car!! Come on!!), Rear seats that refuse to latch to back after being folded, water damage and a couple other minor issue. 3. I had done my research on the car (Ford Focus) and knew that previous models had issues with their automatic transmission only to be reassured that all such issues have been remedied. 2 years in, the car has two recalls (sparked by 2 class action law suits): transmission and doors that lock/open by themselves. 4. Perhaps more importantly: they will sell your personal information to third parties!!! Huge violation of trust and privacy. Prepare to get hounded by illegal, rude, and obnoxious phone calls 5. They will overcharge you for parts! Why the hell should I get my tires changed at the dealership if I can get a set for over a $100 less at Amazon, Walmart, and a bunch of other places?! A dealership should work to earn and keep your business, not gauge you for it. 6. If you go in for necessary scheduled repairs, don't even bother asking for a loaner. Leif Johnson seems to have won a contract with APD for all their new fleet squad cars so they couldn't care less about your business. Still want a Ford? Go to Maxwell Ford. They'll treat you like a king/queen, relatively speaking! read more

I actually had a pleasant experience here. I went on my own, didn't bring the muscle with me this time. I had been crushing hardcore on the new Ford Focus hatchback. My mission was to buy a brand new one, specifically blue. The car salesman, Raymond, helped me find what I was looking for. We found the most basic Focus they had to offer. And believe me, it wasn't very basic. I drove it and loved it. When it came to the numbers time, they offered great discounts on their 2012's when I was there. Here are the most important things I learned (overall) when it comes to buying a new/used car: 1). NEVER tell them what you want your monthly payment to be, they always ask this and this is their way of not taking much off the listed price (and not telling you the price), while extending your loan 2). GO IN PRE-APPROVED elsewhere for financing, that way they can't BS you with the price+financing 3). YOU TELL THEM what you want to pay 4). If they are doing too much back and forth (going to ask their manager to approve the #'s) then just say "Let me talk to someone who can give me an answer" 5). BE FIRM on what you want to pay. Let them know you are willing to go elsewhere 6). And lastly and probably most important, when it comes to buying a new car, don't let them BS you on the MSRP price. Suggested prices can be manipulated to be unreasonably high, allowing retailers to use deceptive advertising by showing the excessive price and then their actual selling price, implying to customers that they are getting a bargain. Don't forget to check edmunds.com to see the actual price and fair price of the vehicle you're interested in purchasing. Do your homework! All in all though, I had a pretty good experience here. I came in twice, with a one track mind thinking it couldn't be altered. I decided against the Focus. A week later I came back interested in another car Ford makes. I contacted the same car salesman, as he didn't seem like a d-bag and was friendly. They wound up letting me take home a car in the show room. I didn't end up purcashing anything from them, but I wouldn't tell someone to not go here. Everyone here was really nice and improved my perspective of car dealerships. read more

Totally unethical. They took my family for $1500 on our last repair job. My Ranger had 36,500 miles- just 500 miles over warranty and they refused to cover any of the many defective Ford engine and airbag (safety) parts. They then took it for a week where I had no car and returned it in worse shape than when we brought it in. They also charged us $40 to "clean the terminals" on a brand new battery I had just bought. Absolutely dishonest! While I was there, I saw many other couples in shouting matches with the manager because they were charging again for work the other spouse had just had done. I would totally avoid Leif Johnson and probably Ford vehicles in general from the experiences I've had with them. read more

It's so hard to restrain the rant when it comes to the car buying process. Here's why I award 3 stars to Leif Johnson: 1. Our salesperson (Stephen Brown) was some kind of pierced up aging skate punk in disguise (you can take all the studs out but the gaping holes still give you away). Any conservative-minded company who will still embrace the weird rates pretty high in my book. 2. We got the best financing offer here and my husband was able to negotiate a price before we arrived, via online chat. Great feature, that. Why I do not award more stars: 1. Despite having negotiated the price beforehand, it took us 3.5 hrs to finally get the H out of the showroom. Didn't wait long at all for appraisal on our trade-in, nor did we wait long for credit approval. Lickety split on both counts. What took f'ing forever was getting the actual paperwork in-hand and the opportunity to sign everything. This portion of the process took roughly 2.75 hrs. Now, we may not have been first in line...they may have a slow typist...they may have taken time to give everything a thorough checking. But waiting nearly 3 hrs to sign papers on a $15K purchase when it took barely 20 min to close on my damn house...well, I take exception to that. 2. You car people, get off my damn back about your bogus extended warranties!! Our financing guy went through every ridiculous level of extended warranty offers imagineable. He told us he was required to do so (acted as if he was required to do so by the gov'ment, not by his bosses) but I seriously doubt that. After we declined any and all of that BS (check out clarkhoward.com and he'll give you the straight scoop on why that's such a load of bull), his mgr came in to "make sure Jody effectively gave you all the information you need about the warranties available." Geezus. It's so insulting for them to act like you're another sucker and that if they double-team you just right, you'll cave. According to their own example, I would have nothing to fear if in 5 years our SYNC system went on the blink to the tune of an $800 repair bill. We'd simply pay $100 and the good folks at Ford would take care of the rest. So let me get this straight...we pay $1200 for the warranty (+ interest, no less) so we can get an $800 repair for another $100 fee? Do I look that dumb? This experience revolved around my husband's new car purchase. I'm planning my own new car buy within a month or so and I think I'll just handle it all via fax and email. My review is a 1 star for the service department or the shady aspect of the dealership itself. I'm not sure who to blame but you can read my story and draw your own conclusions. Keep in mind this was my first car buying experience, so I was a bit naive. Regardless, I feel like the entire situation is garbage. I purchased a 2005 Jeep Wrangler in November of 2012. Since this time, I have had to take the vehicle in for repairs a total of 7 times, 5 of which were to the service department located at the dealership. I purchased a warranty through Ford, limiting my deductible to $100 for covered issues. My thermostat broke 2-3 times and caused a check engine light, which I took in (paying $100 each time). Eventually, the mechanic determined I had major radiator issues and after taking it to a Jeep dealership, fixed this problem. After pulling teeth, I managed to get the deductible waived this ONE time. And before I forget, it took them over 2 weeks to fix my vehicle (the final time, during the radiator replacement), and not once was I offered a rental car or even so much as a "sorry for the delay" from anyone. This does not include me taking it in to get my clutch switch replaced or the multiple power issues I'm having with the vehicle. My door lock broke prior to one of the inspections. Without asking, the mechanics took apart my door (to tell me my lock was broken?) and then attempted to charge me because it wasn't covered. Most recently, I was charged a $120 diagnostic fee because I decided not to get my spark plug wires replaced (not covered by warranty and the service guys attempted to charge me an additonal $200). This is my biggest overall issue: If you are doing diagnostics on a vehicle every few months and I am potentially being charged for work done, I expect the vehicle to be looked at for potential issues. The fact that this vehicle repeatedly breaks down, in some cases within a month of being in the shop, negates the purpose of the warranty (to save money) and tells me that the mechanics fix the first possible issue they see. I also expect a mechanic to be able to look at a warranty, tell me what is covered, and not perform work that is uncovered. It is a completely ridiculous claim to tell a customer that you cannot determine what is covered until after the work is performed and billable (doublespeak provided to me at my most recent drop-off). I also asked for a copy of my service records (as I was thinking of pursuing action under the Texas lemon laws) and was provided a print out vastly different from the papers provided at pick-up, with no discernable summary of the specific issues. This is simply an explaination of my mechanic issues, as I've said, and does not include the absolute incompetence of the salesperson, which I won't bore you with here. Essentially, I have a car that is on the verge of breakdown at any given moment, and the only cost effective means of repairing it, is a temporary fix at best. I'm a kid just out of college, I can't be shelling out $100-$300 every few months. Final lesson? Do not buy a vehicle from this dealership. Even if your car is a type that is known to have issues, there is no excuse for mechanics that are uninformed, incompetent or purposely money hungry. Leif Johnson Ford This is the story of a used car dealer going above and beyond to satisfy a customer. I know you are thinking 'Oh, a fantasy story' but you are wrong. This actually happened. The names have not been changed to protect the innocent. The innocent can take it. Last month I bought a slightly used 2014 Ford Explorer. I like used cars because I tend to ding my cars up hauling stuff and parking them in godforsaken offshore lots for months at a time. And they're cheaper than new cars and I really like that. ML and I looked around for a while and found a good deal advertised at Leif Johnson. We made an appointment and went to see them at their Koenig Lane store. Joe, the salesman, was very pleasant and brought the car around. It was just about exactly what I wanted. There were a few minor things wrong, like it was missing a wiper blade on one side, and a cup holder was broken, but it's a used car and that's to be expected. Overall it was a good vehicle at a good price. Simple, right? We go to close the deal and after we write the check I find out that there's only one key. I want 2 keys. If I had known this I would have had them do the key while we were processing the deal, which usually takes an hour or more. So now I'm a bit peeved but Joe drives me to the service dept. and tells the service agent about the key. It will take an hour. So I wait, and eventually I get the key and the car is brought out. But when I get in it I see where the wiper had been drawn across the windshield and left scratches right across the line of sight area. This obviously wasn't there during the test drive. Somebody accidentally scraped the empty metal wiper housing across the windshield while they prepped it. Now I'm really pissed off. But it's almost 4 now and I have to get back down across the river in what will undoubtedly be hideous traffic so I can't afford to wait any longer. So I drive home steaming on what should be a happy 'let me check out this cool new car' day. I have a total of 8 days at home before going back offshore. I can't shake loose enough time to get back up but a few days later Leif Johnson calls to see how I like my new car. I tell them the whole story. They apologize and say they'll get back to me. Yeah, right. The next day the service manager calls me and asks me to bring the car up so he can look at it. I tell him I can't because I'm going offshore but my wife could in a few days. No problem. So a few days later she goes up and I call her to ask how it went, expecting to hear nothing could be done. Instead I hear "Dave (the service manager) looked at it for a minute, then brought in a windshield guy and said 'Let's change it out and they need it back today'. Boom. New windshield. No fuss, no arguing. No waffling. Three hours later, with a lunch break at Quality Seafood across the street to break the monotony, she's driving out behind a brand new windshield. 3 hours, and that's including the 2 hours the adhesive has to set up for after installation. Afterward ML said "Dave was as nice as could be. He asked how we liked the car other than that and the whole experience was just easy and stress free". When was the last time you heard that about dealing with a used car manager? I can't remember ever hearing it. I've seen the bad reviews on their service and the company reply that they are transitioning to a new system. Clearly the transition has taken hold. So let's sum up. Good vehicle. Good price. Above and beyond service after the sale. You can bet I'll be going back to Leif Johnson again. Wouldn't you? read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! FELT LIKE I WAS BEING SCAMMED AFTER PAYING FOR MY CAR THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE PROCESS!!! DO NOT BUY FROM HERE IF YOU'RE OUT-OF-STATE!!! ***NOTE: I tried reaching out to the manager (FRED TRUDEAU) I found online to explain this situation before posting to Yelp, but have not heard from him.*** I recently bought a 2015 Jeep Cherokee from Leif Johnson Ford and have had a very arduous, painful experience in all aspects. I would like to explain my experience and the lack of service I've received: I found this dealership through my bank, USAA, and it appears that they are partnered with them and came highly recommended. In November, 2015, I negotiated the purchase of a 2015 Jeep Cherokee from your company with JAMES BILLINGTON. I live in CA so I was purchasing this car in TX over the phone. When I signed the check over and paid the company for the car, James would not answer my emails or phone calls/texts. He was in existent. Since I live in California, I had to coordinate purchasing the vehicle and also shipping the vehicle. Weeks before the vehicle was to be picked up by the shipping company, I had been in contact with James Billington and Ryan Fisher about getting all the necessary paperwork together. A couple weeks went by and I had received no contract paperwork or anything for the purchase of the vehicle (mind you, I had already wired $12,000 to your company and was financing the additional money). The week before the car was to be picked up, I emailed, called and texted James everyday letting him know this. I received no response, so I called Arman Torabi. Arman said he'd try to fix things, and he did. The day the shipping vehicle arrived, Arman said it could be picked up and shipped... but James intercepted the shipping truck and told them THEY COULDN'T TAKE THE TRUCK! He didn't call me or let me know... not once. This process took many many hours for me to sort out with the shipping company and your staff. After we finally received the car, RYAN FISCHER told me there was no way that I could register the car in Oregon while living in California. Well, I'm in the military and every state allows this. HELLO?!? He did not understand and straight up said that it was impossible. After I asked Ryan to call the Oregon DMV for help, he never bothered to. I called instead, got the paperwork required, and sent it to Ryan. This was all at the end of November, 2015. Ryan asked for a few more documents in order for your team to register my Jeep in Oregon, and I promptly sent them the same day he asked. Fast forward to me registering the car... So, I got the VIN Inspection Form and other document filled out, signed and over-nighted to your company, which cost me $20. The next day, I got a call from TOM HUTCHINSON saying that I filled my VIN Inspection form out incorrectly and he was GOING TO CALL THE POLICE TO REPOSSESS MY JEEP! I informed him that I filled the form out correctly, but he said that the DMV or Police needed to sign off on it. Well, I had my military commander sign off on it, and the Oregon DMV website specifically states that this is acceptable. TOM HUTCHINSON told me I was wrong, and that if I didn't go to the DMV and get the form signed by the DMV, he would call the police. Well, I went to the DMV that day and express mailed the form to you again for $20. That fight was not worth fighting, and I honestly just wanted to continue the process of getting my car registered and wiping my hands clean of Leif Johnson Ford. Later I found out that Tom was "new" and mistaken with my registration. TOO LATE, BUDDY! I don't care if he was mistaken. He called me and threatened to call the police on me for filling out this form incorrectly, and refused to believe what I was saying about the DMV allowing my commander to sign the VIN Inspection Form. His ignorance caused him to call me and send a threat. This was very unprofessional and cost me money out of my pocket that should not have happened, as well as the emotional stress of this he imparted on me. This has been the worst car buying experience I have ever had. First they sold me a car with four scratched wheels. I pointed it out before finalizing the paperwork. They said they would yake care of it and not to worry. Three hours later paperwork was done and they said "nothing we can do about it" 2014 Ford Flex 11 miles cash deal and they wanted us to leave with badly scratched wheels. After that it has been loose bumper, fading paint, grinding window all within 30 days of purchase. My wife called the service department almost 20 times and gets put on hold and no one answers. I was going to let people know what a sorry dealership and product this is but it seems after looking at all the other reviews that I need to get in line behind all the other negative reviews. When I picked up my new Explorer the navigation, Sirius, AM and FM radio didn't work and it took months to finally get repaired. Now my splash guard keeps falling off and I have taken it back multiple times and they put it back on but it falls off before I get home. Finally got Ford Motor Company involved and no help at all. I guess the only thing now it to hire an attorney. The service department is dirty and unorganized group of individuals who treat you like you are beneath their pay grade. If considering a Ford, go somewhere else even if it cost more your time is worth more. read more

"Service department guys are friendly, the sales people don't give a shit about customers unless they're buying." It's been two years since I bought my car from these guys. They seemed nice then. I didn't get the exact color I wanted. I got black instead of charcoal/ grey because they had zero in stock. I made a compromise but got money knocked off and darker tint added. I took my new car home and within the week noticed scratches surface that obviously came from the dealership or in transport to the dealership. It's as if they tried to cover them up. Nothing like having a brand new car with scratches to piss you off. It's like throwing money you don't have down the drain. Now on to this tint that was supposed to be an added bonus. Two years pass and the tint is fading and peeling/ bubbling up. Of course it's warrantied so I get an email address from the dealership and email Jason in tint with whats going on. No response after 4 days. So I call into the dealership and they put me in the voicemail of the one that does tint...The same one i emailed. A few days later I finally get a phone call from this guy. First off I don't give a crap how hot it is in Texas, my tint should last more than 2 years or its not good quality work. But Jason unprofessionally stated that the tint tends to do that and never lasts more than 5 years. Really? Hmm you sound confident in the quality of your tint jobs. So he says he'll call me back when he can check his schedule and see when he can fit me in. A week later I call him because I've received no phone call. Of course it was raining so he couldn't do it and said he'd call back. Another week passes and he doesn't call so I call. Finally get it scheduled for the end of that same week. I told him that due to my work schedule..with normal office hours I might add...I would have to drop the car off before 8AM. He said there would be a courtesy driver to take me to work but I would need a ride there. The day arrives.. I arrive before 8AM and guess who's not there. Yes, the tint guy. The service department proceeded to figure out where he was and get me set up for a ride. I told him after all this trouble, I wanted all of the windows redone because I didn't want to go through this hassle again. He told me the windows didn't need it. Later that day he calls saying all the windows needed re-tinting. Wow...shocker...not like I didn't tell him that. I'm just glad this is over and babysitting someone to get it completed was not what I had in mind. So if you buy a car here...a little heads up that the staff is a pain in the ass with repairs and fixes that are under warranty. I'm betting because that doesn't make them money. I plan to sell my Ford soon and stray far away from them in the future. read more

I scheduled a 1p service appointment so that I could drop my car off during my lunch hour. Shuttle service ends at noon!!?? Seriously?? Not a convenience for anyone who has to work for a living and especially a single parent who has to schedule things around the 8-5 work week. I will NEVER buy another vehicle from #LeifJohnsonFord. Their service advisors are unhappy every time I've had to get service there and they don't acknowledge you when you pull up on the drive or when you walk in. Horrible service. I had to call Ford on numerous occasions to get them to look at issues on my car. I have witnessed too many situations in the service shop where it was obvious that they are taking advantage of someone on car repairs. I never got took because I had an extended warranty and they couldn't gouge me without getting Ford involved. Extended warranties keep service departments honest. I hope things have improved since I was a customer. Ford has a great reputation for customer service so hopefully they have stepped in to make things better. read more

Shortly thereafter, I received a voicemail from a sales rep (Cody) asking if I had any questions about the vehicle or if I wanted to take it for a test drive. No pics. I drove all the way across town to see the truck, only to be told that it had been sold at auction 3 days earlier, but they could show me something else. Best part was waiting 30 minutes to get my car brought out so I could get the hell out of there. Finally went back to just get the car myself. I went to Leif Johnson Ford to get a used car, and it was an OK experience. They were just standard sleasy car salesmen... Nothing personal against the salesman who helped me. He was nice, like all car salesmen are. What REALLY irked me is that I went with my fiance and the salesman walked up to us, said hello to my fiance, shook his hand, and asked him what he was looking for. It was like I didn't exist, but I was the one buying the car! Also, they wouldn't let us leave. They said, "Oh, you're not looking to leave the lot with a car? Well just let us run your credit first." "That's not the interest rate you want? Well let me get my manager to talk with you." and etc. etc... It was 9:30 at night after working all day- I wasn't in a mood to haggle. I ended up getting a much better deal on the same model car from another dealership. read more

We had a miserable experience with Leif Johnson Ford. We were told that in order to secure a Fiesta that was to be delivered later in the week we should place a $1000 deposit, which we did. (It is almost impossible to keep these cars on the lot after all.) Shortly after, we were told that all Fiesta deliveries had been suspended due to a faulty part and that there was no way to know exactly when the car would arrive. Obviously we don't blame Leif Johnson for Ford's quality control practices. The problem I had was that when the car finally did arrive three weeks later, the financial department claimed that there was no possible way to sell us the car at the price that both our two salesmen and the manager had quoted us. When the financial manager confronted the salesmen about the quoted price there was a sixty second period where no intelligible word were uttered by anyone with a name tag. Our salesman had been caught with his pants down. Ultimately the salesman sided with the company, twisting his language and the price he had written down for us to reflect what was better for Leif Johnson. It was stunning to watch him change from being our advocate to looking out for the company's bottom line right before our eyes. We decided to walk away from the deal as a matter of principle but were told that we couldn't have our deposit back until the end if the week as they had already cashed our check. So just to recap, persuaded us to give them a check (which they proceeded to cash) for a car they never delivered, did not try to ameliorate the fact that we were out of money/expected transportation, lied to us about price and never advocated for us when it came down to sale time. Ultimately we went to a completely different dealer and are in love with our new Mazda. It made me a little happy to know that we gave our business to a more ethical company (take that for what you will), but also to see that when I returned to pick up our deposit, none of those Fiestas that were flying off the lot had moved anywhere. My recommendation is to stay far away from these guys. They put the "sleazy car salesmen" in sleazy car salesmen. read more

Made this yelp account specifically for Leif Johnson Ford Service Dept. on Airport blvd. I bought my truck used about a year ago from this dealership, great truck, decent price, I was happy. Ran perfect...but then last week my Throttle Body went out. I figured "okay no problem, I have a warranty I paid 2000 dollars for that, it should cover it" ----NOPE! Ok I thought no big deal, easy fix, it won't cost too much for them to fix it, a 2006 F150 throttle body is $160.00 at the auto parts store... I receive some "bad news" from my Leif advisor, he gives me the quote and says "$720.00 for a new throttle body. Plus $210.00 for labor." The throttle body is easily accessible on top the engine and is easily removed by pulling four bolts and an electrical connection ..easily place the new one on top and repeat the removal process in reverse and in 10-15 min your done! I may be young but I'm not dumb...I thought I found a place I could trust to give me an honest deal...nope! Just a bunch of "Oil Changers", and I say that because an oil change is the only thing that's worth it over there! They may have been around for 58 years but only because they're taking the money out of your wallet with their misleading hospitality and friendliness. (Good customer service).... This review is a few months old, however, serves as a warning for buyers. Only the sales and sales management professionals are reviewed. AHHHHH! Stay away! Really Lief Johnson... this is Austin Texas. Be good to your people. My experience began in December, car shopping. My sales person was Yoany A. Quintero, who couldn't find the car we came in to drive. Finally, he said the car had minor bumper damage and was transferred to a shop in Round Rock for repair. We kept in touch over the phone- once. He called me to remind me that he was there or something to that effect. The second time I came in solo to look at the same car, listed this time on Craigslist. Yoany said he didn't know why it was currently listed this time, the car was sold at auction. I asked if he would pull their version of Car Fax, he would not. I was offered to speak with his manager. Really, THE ONE WHO helps run this place? I told him that Lief Johnson would get a really bad review. Another sales person made some faces which could be interpreted as rude. While we were in the office the first visit, sales personnel were running around looking for cars and keys! The second visit was short but not sweet. Loose the car loose the customer. It is fair to note that Yoany was never rude and I do not believe he was in control of #1 Loosing cars and keys #2 Posting on Lief Johnson false leads #3 Posting on Craigslist false leads. That blame from me lies with Lief Johnson Ford on East Koenig Lane WHERE YOU LOOSE THE CAR, YOU LOOSE THE CUSTOMER. Two stars, changed to one star...because I'll never shop here again.
