We took our Ford SUV to Leif Johnson Ford for regular service as we were about to make a long drive for our family's summer vacation. During the regular service, they found that our radiator needed to be replaced. We had them replace it and paid a total of $2400 for the work done. Eight days later, our family was stranded on the road 2000 miles from home and had to call a tow truck because of radiator problems. When I contacted Leif Johnson Ford, they expressed little sympathy and refused to pay our towing costs. Quality and customer service are not a priority at this dealership!! read more

Bought a 2008 Ford Edge with 17,000 in 2010. Worst car I ever had! Immediately after buying it the car lost power on the road. The power sensor was covered under warranty as was another major sensor in the car. But since the 36,000 warranty expired-have had major car repair issues consistently-every time I take it in to the dealer-it's a $1,000. or plus repair. There are 4 recalls on this SUV. This was an amazing first car buying experience. I was pleasantly surprised by how respectful and easy to work with this dealership was. I had the pleasure of working with Arlo, who was professional, respectful, and friendly. When we sat down to discuss the price, she was respectful of what I was asking for, and did her best to meet me in the middle. Both her and the manager of the location were able to work out a deal that I found fair and of great value. There was never any pressure. Before I left with my car, Arlo went above and beyond, by cleaning my car and filling it up with glass. I came to the dealership over 3 1/2 weeks ago. I looked at some trucks and found one I like. I told my salesman I'll be back in a few days. On 19 July 2019 I came back to the dealership @ 245pm, found my salesman and gave him the keys to my truck to get it appraised and star the process of getting the truck I want and I didnt want to be at the dealership all day. They took my truck and the salesman and I went and got the truck I wanted. we brought it back up to the front and started all the  negotiation and start the paperwork. I left the dealership at 1015pm that night. when I left I realized that they forgot to give me back my insurance card. so I back up and went back inside. I saw the GM working at the desk that is elevated and told him I need my insurance card back. He turned around and asked the financial guy if he had it and he said no. The GM then turned around and said they didnt have it and continued to work on his paperwork blowing me off instead of looking for it because they took it to make a copy. I told the GM that they made a copy of it at the copier that was 4' away from him. He did not move to look. So I started looking around the copier myself. I couldnt find it so I was leaving. as I was leaving I ran into my salesman and told him about my insurance card and told him that his GM pissed me off because he wouldnt even get out of his chair to look for the card. I returned the following day and talked to the salesman and his manager and was given my insurance card. The manager said that she would comp me weather tech floor mats for my long time there at the dealership and for the GM not helping me find the insurance card. she said they would have to order the mats. she said that once they come in then that would be the time they would tint my windows. After waiting 2 weeks after I have the truck. I called the parts department and talked to them. they looked under my name, salesman name, and the salesman supervisors name and no mats have been ordered. the parts guy did tell me he could get the mats in on the same day. I texted my salesman and his supervisor in a group text and expressed my frustration because at this point I just wanted my windows tinted. after waiting over 3 weeks for my salesman and or his supervisor to call to get my windows tinted and the floor mats. I just went ahead and got my  windows tinted by my guy. Now I have to go down to the dealership and see how I'm going to get my $500 and something dollars back on the tint that I paid for. This is not at all what I expected from a big dealership. I expected the dealership to stand by what they said they were going to do and not jerk me around. Hopefully someone higher than the GM at the dealership will give me a call. 5127622884. I forgot to mention that the dealership needed a copy of my driver license and now its missing and now I'm in the process of getting a new driver license. She's very straight on matching the price I provided, no meaningless haggle with me. Furthermore, I was not in Austin then, but She just arranged a good guy (Mr. Warren) and delivered my car to my city (105 miles away). It is truly remarkable. I've not experienced the scheduled maintenance service yet. If you are looking to purchase a used car from Leif Johnson Ford, I highly recommend Joe Gaffney. What I liked about him was the fact that he wasn't the typical car salesman most people are afraid of. He had a laid back attitude and did not try to push any particular car on me and my parents. We don't like pushy sales people, so if he came across that way, we probably would have walked out without a car. But Joe took the time and let us explore and play around with a couple different cars. He was extremely nice and treated us more like friends than customers. He was really patient with us. The way my dad is, I'm sure some people would get annoyed, but Joe was wonderful and answered all of his questions. Joanna is the bomb! She was fabulous helping our daughter get into a new Escape! We called the dealership at 6:15pm on a Monday and she met us in parking lot with the exact car we wanted to see 40 minutes later! We went on a test drive, and then she worked diligently to get to our price point. My dish hater went home that night (at 9 pm) in her new car!! Because of the time, they postponed the paperwork to the next day...when my daughter and husband showed up (on his lunch hour) the papers were ready to go- he was in and out in 25 minutes! These guys called me about a vehicle I had for sale on Craigslist. We spoke about it and they offered me a little under what I was asking. I drove all the way out there (35 miles), and they started to beat me up with the line "oh, the front fender and hood have been repainted". Well, I checked the paint all over the car with a paint gauge when I bought it, and it had NO prior paintwork. I did not have any paintwork done while I owned it, so I know the manager was just beating me up for a lower price. I mentioned that I found it funny that my paint gauge indicated no paintwork and his did. He stuttered and stammered, went outside and finally came back in. He replied "I guess I need a new paint gauge". I then asked about the original offer they mentioned, and they said they could not honor it. I asked why, since the car was EXACTLY as described in my ad. He just said "I just can't pay that price". So, these guys draw you in and try the old "your car has prior paintwork" trick. DON'T FALL FOR IT! How many of you readers have had a dealer say your car had prior paintwork you were unaware of? Probably a lot. It's a lie and tactic that slimeballs like this use to pay you less for your vehicle. Waste of time, and left there with a slimy feel. YUCK! read more

My father purchased a brand new 2015 Ford Focus two years ago from Red McCombs West in San Antonio. The car has always shuttered and jerked upon acceleration. He purchased an extended warranty plan on his car and has taken the car into two San Antonio Ford dealerships a total of four times in two years. Both Jennings Anderson in Boerne and Red McCombs West in San Antonio gave him the run around. After four times in the shop and the dealerships just "resetting" the transmission, he was told he had to pay for a $1500 clutch that is not under the extended warranty plan. My father has always been a Ford guy; however, this treatment from the Ford dealerships in San Antonio put a bad taste in his mouth. My husband and I just recently purchased our second car from Junior at Leif Johnson Ford in Austin off Koenig Lane. I told Junior of my father's transmission issue that he has had the entire time he has owned his vehicle. Junior provided us with a Ford customer service number to hopefully help him repair his car. Upon hearing my father's frustration with Ford, I suggested for my father to have the service department at Leif Johnson look at it. I emailed John Teller, Service Manager at Leif Johnson Ford, and told him about the run around with the other two dealerships and the transmission issue my father has had. He immediately called me and told me he would help my father. We were told that my father's clutch was replaced at 54,000 miles. This is a huge integrity issue as his clutch was never replaced by Jennings Anderson in Boerne or Red McCombs West in San Antonio. After driving all the way to Austin from San Antonio just to have his car looked at, John and his team finally repaired my father's car! They installed a new clutch and my father's car finally drives like it should have upon purchasing it. My father claims his Ford Focus has never driven this smoothly. If you are looking to buy a new or used car, I highly recommend Junior at Leif Johnson Ford. Furthermore, if you are looking for the best service department who will go the extra mile for your Ford, I recommend taking your car to Leif Johnson Ford. I thank John Teller and his team for providing exceptional customer service and taking ownership of this problem. I am LIVID with these people in the service station. We were scheduled to go out of town for the memorial weekend so a couple days before, my hubby took his truck in for an oil change and an inspection to make sure everything was working fine. He got the oil changed and got the thumbs up on everything with the truck. Next morning we take off for our trip. Fifteen minutes into out trip, the a/c just gives out and stops blowing cool air. By now it was way too late too turn back because we were expected at my parent's home. So we had to drive 500+ miles in a hot truck with two panting puppies. By the time we got to our destination, we were hot, tired and exhausted. We were miserable. The following morning my hubby decided to check on the truck to see what was going on with it. It turns out that not only did they forget to put the oil filler cap back on, they managed to disconnect the vacuum line to the heater valve. These two parts are extremely close to eachother and apparently they unhooked the line when removing the cap, which they never bothered putting back on. My hubby drove up to Auto Zone to buy a new cap and plugged the vacuum line back in and VIOLA!!!! We had a working A/C again. But how much damage did both of these issues cause that will later show up because we drove such a long distance with these two things plugged in and capped off? How incompetent can you be to make these TWO blunders in one visit? Just for an oil change? How can you possibly trust that they can fix more complicated issues with your vehicle? Not only do these idiots owe us for the new cap we had to buy, I feel I should be totally refunded for what I paid for he oil change IF ........they even bothered doing the oil change. Who knows? Leif Johnson ford is a place of elusive dreams, heartless gestures and broken promises, like that dad that never came home, or the girl that dumps you a day before prom. Almost 10 years of buying and driving ford trucks and in two years of dealing with life johnson, I probably never will again. Now Ive had numerous issues with this place, from the financing department to service, and the only reason I still tried to do business with them is because of felician( who's exceptional btw) but unfortunately any customer service other than after they get you to sign a contract is absolutely garbage at this place. I'll save the long explanation and give you the most recent act of "fuckery" by this place. Back in the first week of may I sold my truck (that I purchased from leif Johnson 2 years ago) back to them, well I was upside down so I went and withdrew $10000!!! Cash to pay the difference because that's what was asked of me. So I held up my end of the bargain, and all they had to do was take the payment, submit it to ford, and refund me my warranties and all that jazz, they said it would take 2-4weeks for the funds to be returned to me. so in all good faith I trust that this would be a seamless process, WRONG!!! Turns out 5weeks later this was all a bunch of bs, come to find out there is still no record for the dealership of paying off my loan with ford, and the proper documentation was not provided to them by the guys I sold the truck to, and they work in the same damn building! saying that I need to bring supporting documentation to process my refund, so I run my ads up there after a long days work to give them some shit they should already have. Just so this woman can tell me it will take 4 weeks to process. I'm going out of country in a week, and thought I'd have my money in hand for a pleasant trip. BUT.... Back in December I purchased a new Nissan and after driving it for a few months realized it wasn't the right car for me. After searching online my fiance saw a Chevy Cobalt at Leif Johnson that seemed to be in pretty good condition. We made an appointment with Tiffini and went to see it the next day. Tiffini was great as was all the staff members we dealt with. They were friendly and gave me a good deal on my trade in as well as the Cobalt. There was no pressure and I felt they were doing everything they could to get me the best deal possible. I've been very happy with my car ever since. The only negative I would say is with the used cars that are posted online they post all the features available for the car and not what is actually included on the car they are selling. I recently traded in my 2004 GMC ENVOY for a 2012 Ford Edge. The experience with James Billington was superb. The visor light wouldn't go off after we got home, I took it back and they fixed it within the hour. James kept in touch with the service department and kept me informed of the progress. LeighAnne was my point of contact and salesperson; she was super easy to talk to about pretty much anything. Being new to buying/leasing a car, I had a lot of questions and she answered all of them. I purchased a 2013 Fiesta in Aug 2013 from Leif Johnson Ford a pleasant experience. My car was recently totaled in an auto accident so I'm shopping for a new vehicle. I looked at a 2014 Focus advertised for $15 K online. I drove to Leif Johnson to see the car, I told the salesman that I'm not able to purchase a car today but would like to look at the Focus advertised online for $15K with rebates. I looked at car, test drove car, definitely larger than Fiesta. Salesman asks me to fill out an credit app. I stressed again that im not buying a car, that im waiting for insurance to settle & pay off Fiesta. I told him 3 times that my creditor (Ford Motor Credit) would not approve a loan until settlement. No brainer. But was hassled and hassled so I caved & filled out Ford credit app. Salesman tells me that Ford Credit will not approve $22K loan because my insurance hasn't settled....no crap buddy. I asked how $15K became $22k. Salesman told me extended warranty was$2250, gap $899 Window tint $ 299. I told him no way the math adds up. He told me that the math in my head does not exist. I told him I'm NOT buying that car, and left. Four days later the salesman calls me & asks if I'm still gonna buy that Focus. I told him NO NO 3 more times on phone & hung up on him when he then asks so your not going to buy the car. I dont recommend buying from Leif Johnson total bait & switch. read more

I bought a ford edge sport here from Flecian my sales man I got great friendly service not pressuring at all very happy with my sales man and happy with the finance guy I talked to I had a really bad sales experience before a year or so at covert ford their sales guy was very pressuring tried to hit me up for every dollar he could add on to the financing for things I really didn't need as well as the guy was extremely condescending to me and my family and at Lief johnson that didn't happen I will always buy here from now on!! One star because they won't let me post zero. I have owned and driven Ford's since 1961. Yep, that's 58 years. Leif Johnson has helped me decide to never own a Ford again. I own a 2015 Explorer that I bought from them, along with extended warranty and service contract. This was my wife's car and I wanted it to be "problem free" for her. It has been a nightmare getting even the smallest, simplest of things done by the service department. Final straw was very noisey brakes that I was told were not worn enough to replace. I paid 1600 for the service contract so I had already paid for the brake job. Less than 200 miles on the brake job I was I was 150 miles from home and was metal to metal on my front brakes. I limped back to town, took in the car and they replaced the pads but assured me it was not "their fault they failed". Less than 50 miles later the brakes were squealing when applied and Leif Johnson told me they would be happy to schedule me a service appointment next week. So there you have my review of an organization which avoids customer service and employs incompetent, reckless and careless service techs. NO MORE FORDS. read more

i love my Mustang! We are now his and her's Mustang owners, hubby having a red macho five speed and mine being the newer and more girlie silver automatic. We had a wonderful experience with our LJF sales person, Joe Gaffney, and this is the third time we have bought a car from him. After finally buying the car I always wanted now that the kids are grown, i love love love my dream car Mustang! We have babied it, kept it in the garage, we keep it detailed and clean...until today when my first oil change came with a FREE trip to the body shop since Jamal the porter ran my car into another customer's car! I really feel sorry for the Service Manager having to put out fires like this when his employees who are supposed to CARE about their customer's vehicles cause even more headaches for them. This place is sickening. I never buy American because the cars are cheap for a reason. What sickens me is the treatment they give American buyers. My sister is having a rough week. All was well when she bought their used car but then her husband was let go. Given that they were on the 7th day, returns are usually accepted. Today was different. They harassed and refused while she had her 5 month old in the heat. Needless to say, the return was accepted but only after crying, arguing, and paying for mileage that they wrote down and didn't verify with her. Excellent experience with Leif Johnson! I purchased my Focus from Covert Ford two years ago. I have had numerous issues with Covert and finally decided to see if Leif Johnson could be more respectful and less condescending. I am so grateful I took my car to them! The issues I had with my car were minimized at Covert and I was told my concerns were not valid. Leif Johnson immediately identified the issues and fixed them. They were professional and informative. My service representative, Jason, answered all my questions and followed up with the service technician when I had further questions. I was very happy with my entire experience. Even the little things like a phone call returned within 24 hours and feeling valued while I was picking up my car were totally different than other experiences. John Teller, the dealership manager, is rude and dismissive. Carolyn, a side employee, wastes your time before letting you know what's going on. I had an issue with my car that was a manufacturer issue. They tried to say "how do we know you didn't cause it? It's not covered under warranty." I had been in a month before when I was told they didn't have the part but it was covered under warranty. Finally, after four calls to them, I find out the original person that spoke to me wasn't working for them any longer, so it was their word over his. So....my second time coming in, Carolyn was horrible. Then, when she wouldn't explain anything, I asked to speak to the main manager. John was a sleazy used car salesman type (stereotype of what he is). I came into his office and I questioned him charging me for something that was not my fault. He claimed I was "irate." He surrounded me by his henchmen, including Carolyn. I was told to leave because they didn't want to hear anything. Corporate Ford needs to fire these employees. They really create an awful impression of the company. read more

We were in the market for a pre-owned Ford Escape to replace the one that was totaled in November. We saw plenty of Escapes on Leif Johnson's web site and their prices were much better than most of the other local Ford dealers. When we got to the dealership, however, we could only find one Escape--and we couldn't find a sales person to help us. Several passed us on the lot but not one offered to help, ask us if we had been helped, or what we were looking for. Additionally, the pre-owned lot is spread out and not in the best part of town. Since they don't seem to need to sell a car (or they would be more helpful), I would just stay away. read more

I had a bad experience at Maxwell Ford, so I decided to take my truck to Leif Johnson. I normally don't go to dealerships but I needed a new master key. After *I pulled in, several people asked if I had been helped. That was nice, but where the good ended. After being told it would take three hours to make and program a new key I asked the service advisor (since it was there anyway) to give me an alignment after that was done. The truck wasn't ready until two days later! They left the truck in the alignment shop and didn't even start with the keys. Then they told me it couldn't be aligned because the bearings were bad. They wanted $1,100 to replace the bearings! I was highly suspicious. Anyway I picked the truck up finally with the new keys and had a friend (master mechanic) look at the truck. The bearings were in perfect condition. I WAS LIED TO and they wanted to charge me $1,100 for a service I didn't need. This dealership is UNETHICAL. read more

These bad reviews are true! Let me share my experience...last month I decided to make an appointment for my recall. I called once and was told I'd get a call back . Waited another week still no call back. I still don't understand why they can't just schedule me appointment when I call. Every call I was told a manager would call me back . I called the manager and no answer left voicemail no response. After weeks of this going back and forth and not able to talk to anybody I decided to make an appointment at another Ford dealership.( I promise to post that experience when completed). When I called the other dealership they said yes and scheduled an appointment as I was on the phone with them. . Just like that. No needed to wait for with them to call me back and that's where I'm going next week. Leif Johnson Ford is the worst at service. Sales service experience was good but when it comes to service thats when it ends... All i can say is poor poor Management! Last time I scheduled an oil change and pick up my car, everyone just seems so lost and disorganized. Save yourself a headache because honestly this place is not following the law by not honoring my recall. I can only imagine if I did take it there now would they really do it? My 18 year old son went to your dealership on 4/22/19 to look at a vehicle he found on USAAs preferred dealership website. I looked your dealership up online and was directed to your website where you talk about being a family owned business who prides itself in offering a no hassle and family oriented atmosphere that values your customers. I worked at a family owned dealership for many years doing extended warranties, gap insurance, etc and I believed that because you were a family owned business you would value each and every customer that came your way. Instead you tried to take advantage of a first time car buyer who had to go see you all without me because I had to work. My son came there to see a vehicle he saw on USAA preferred dealerships as well as on your website. The ADVERTISED price was $8300 on your website and USAAs website. USAA gave him the total his car would cost including tax, title,fees. I also went on your website where it showed the cost of the car along with the options to add and delete any/all of your service and protection plans. The moment my son stepped on your property you told him that you had to run his credit, when he declined you told that it was mandatory. At this point my son called me and I advised him that he already had his loan from USAA and would not need them to run his credit. My son did not tell them he had his loan already because he wanted to talk price first. They would not budge on the price of the car and when he agreed to buy the car for the full advertised price of 8300 they came over and brought him a total price of 11300 for the total. He countered with them that he should only be paying the purchase price plus taxes, title and fees which should not be more than 9100. He noticed an additional line of accessory fees that almost totaled $3000 more. He asked them to break down each added cost and called me. We asked them to take all of the extra accessories off of his paper work as he does not want nor need them. The lady that was helping him said that he HAD to purchase an accessory package or she could not sell him a car. He let them know that he had his own financing and that he would only be spending 9100 total on this vehicle plus complimentary full tank of gas and a 7 day mechanical guarantee. The lady then told him that she can't sell him that car without the extras unless he uses their financing, when he refused she basically told him the dealership is there to make money and he's there to get a deal and in order to get the price that they Advertised without the extra accessories he had to use their financing. My son walked out. Another guy came outside and asked my son to come back in so that they could bring in all of their people to explain to him how dealerships work. He let them know that this was his first experience and that they were trying to take full advantage of a first time car buyer. Along with the fact that he was going to report them to USAA and anyone else he could because of the way they were trying to bully him into buying more than what he needed or wanted when it came to accessories. The man then came back to him saying they can sell him the car at the advertised price along with his complimentary gas and 7 day guarantee. My son decided to give them his business against my judgment and bought the vehicle. While doing the paperwork he noticed an extra cost of $497 labeled LoJack. We as adults know what LoJack is but when he asked what it was the man told him that was his 7 day guarantee and his gas(which should not cost at all). My son was tired and ready to go home and believed the man and even signed an AS IS warranty paper which is where he should have had his 7 day guarantee listed. When I called and asked the finance man why my son was lied to about what LoJack was his response was that all of their vehicles come with LoJack. I argued that LoJack is an extra expense and that if it was included them it should have been included in the advertised price not an additional price when purchasing the car. The finance man just kept saying that LoJack comes on all of their vehicles. If the dealership would have been truthful about what LoJack was when my son asked them then he would have disputed it. In the end he got the car he wanted with an added accessory he did not ask for along with a shitty first time experience and they didn't even fill his gas tank up. I would have given this place ZERO STARS if that was an option. I will be letting EVERYONE I know not to buy from this place. read more

I left Austin on a Thursday parking my truck at the Hilton Austin Airport Valet. The valet at the hotel could not restart my truck. I called Leif Johnson to see if they could have take a look and see if they could fix it one day. Within 1 hour of getting the vehicle from the Tow Truck, Paul at Leif Johnson called me and said they identified the problem, a faulty fuel pump and battery. I got off the plane the next day and a message was waiting from Paul that the car was ready. I was able to get my truck fixed with confidence from Charlotte, NC knowing that when I returned to Austin I had a truck to drive home back to Fredericskburg. I bought an 09 Jeep patriot over spring break from the used car store on airport and koening and really had a nice experience with my salesperson , DEE. 2 weeks later when i went to get my insnnpection done at the dealership, the service manager told me i barely passed inspection because of my tires. I said "i just bought this car 2 weeks ago" i went down to the used car manager and had a less than helpful conversation and was basically told, oh well. Furious. As a single, working mother of a toddler, tires are a big deal. Then one month after that, the car began overheating at stop lights, etc. Oh NO!!!!! About one week later, I got a random, yet welcomed call from Chuck, the GM of used cars. He was checking up on me and recognizing that our last dealings had been less than helpful and that he wanted to help me be a satisfied customer. So..... I took the Jeep back. I had purchased the extended Warranty and so I was put in a rental at no charge. Now, I had to call over a week later and ask what was going on, noone had called me, but when i did i told him i wanted a new car. He assured me that would be no problem. So, I returned to the dealership the following weekend and after a loooon day there, left with a 2008 Ford Edge. The most helpful, and kind people during all of this were Dee, my salesperson and Mike, the Front Manager/Finance guy. If you go there, ask for MIke. Demand service, and hold them to their word. If I could possibly not even give one star, I would. We got my car's oil changed here. I got to Round Rock to realize my car was smoking. I lifted up the hood to see that there was oil covering every inch underneath my hood and literally ran down my arm. They forgot to put the oil cap on my car leaving the opportunity to just spray oil everywhere underneath my hood for about 10 miles. They gave me a coupon for a free oil change which I will never use. Ever. read more

After filling out a truecar dot com profile, we were contacted by Leif Johnson Ford, specifically Leo Light, and we got the ball rolling on our vehicle search. It only took one email and a quick phone call and Leo had the Ford Focus SE Hatchback (Candy Blue) with the exact features/specs that we wanted. We agreed on a time to swing by the dealership, and when we got there, Leo had the vehicle ready for the test drive, and everything ready to have our trade-in appraised. The price was well within my expectations, in fact a little lower. Had leather seats installed, again at a fair price.
