The staff was attentive, accommodating when we increased our reservation, and the food came out quickly. I had the whole branzino with Haitian black rice and pikliz, which was really good. I love spice, so the pikliz was a perfect addition. My only gripe was the strict two-card maximum for payment. For a restaurant at this price point, especially with larger groups, I think there should be more flexibility. Other than that, great food, great atmosphere, and a really diverse crowd. A large upscale venue with an elegant Caribbean theme. Beautiful interior of Green & Gold. Wonderful and professionally dressed staff. Servers are friendly and attentive, even when busy. Service is fairly paced for the activity of the place. There's a performance that occurs every 30-45 mins. A dancer and conga player go around and interact with the guest. To be honest, it gets old by the 2nd time, especially when you're tryna talk &/or eat and they're trying to interact with you. Not a complaint, just something to be aware of. There's a DJ so it is a bit louder than normal for casual conversation. You find yourself raising your voice and straining to be heard/hear at times, especially during the periodic performance. We came here with a group of 8 to celebrate three birthdays after hearing so many great things about Sunday brunch, and unfortunately, the experience fell well short of our expectations. The biggest issue was the service, which honestly seemed to be the result of the restaurant being severely understaffed. Our waitress was incredibly kind and did the best she could, but she was essentially responsible for the entire dining room. The bartender was also working alone, and the kitchen was backed up to the point where we waited hours for our food. We seriously considered leaving, as several other tables actually did, but after investing so much time waiting, it felt pointless to start over somewhere else. Once the food finally arrived, it redeemed the experience somewhat. Everything was beautifully presented, flavorful, and the drinks were excellent. The only complaint was that the food wasn't served as hot as it should have been, which wasn't surprising given how backed up the kitchen seemed to be. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. The décor is beautiful, the space is large and thoughtfully designed, and it has a really upscale atmosphere. You can absolutely see the vision. I truly hope this was just an off day because there is a lot of potential here. However, with brunch priced at around $100 per person, the overall experience simply didn't justify the cost. For a restaurant charging premium Manhattan prices, I expected much better service. The food was underwhelming. The calamari arrived cold. The berbere wings were dry and heavily dusted with what tasted like seasoned salt or sazon rather than a flavorful sauce or seasoning blend. The grilled shrimp lacked depth of flavor and tasted exactly as described on the menu: grilled shrimp. The sweet plantains were decent but not memorable, especially at $14. The cocktails were visually stunning, but at $24 each they tasted more like fruit juice than properly balanced cocktails. Add $10 still water, and the bill escalated quickly. What disappointed me most was the disconnect between the menu descriptions and the actual execution. The menu is full of exciting Afro Caribbean and Haitian influences, but the flavors never delivered. As someone familiar with Haitian and Caribbean cuisine, I left feeling like I could have had a much more flavorful meal in Brooklyn for a fraction of the cost. I first took my mom on May 20th during her birthday month, and we loved it so much that we went back again on June 17th. The atmosphere, service, decor, and live entertainment were all amazing. Bobbi Storm was absolutely wonderful. Her voice is beautiful, and she is so engaging with the crowd. What made it even more special is that she sang to my mom for her birthday, and she makes a point to personally sing to guests celebrating birthdays or special occasions. That added such a warm, memorable touch. The food was just as good as the vibe. My mom loves the ribeye, and on my first visit I had the jerk lamb chops. I was not expecting them to be as spicy as they were, but they were still so tasty. The second time, I tried the oxtails, and we also snacked on the apple salad, wings and beef patties, which were delicious as well. The portion sizes were not disappointing at all, especially for the prices and the show that comes with it. If you're looking for a nice strong drink, I definitely recommend the Papa Bois Punch. Expect to spend about $100-$115 per person, but to me, it was worth it for the full experience. I only have critic about the fish I wish there was more of a pan seared option than fried or the monk fish and the bussers need to be a little patient with clearing the table a few times they tried to take plates that still had food on it and drinks that were not finished. I also just found out they have a speakeasy, which makes me even more excited to go back. Lélé is perfect for groups, date night, a celebration, or even just a nice treat for yourself. My friend and I made a reservation for September 19 at 9:45 PM. The only reason we booked a reservation that late was because the restaurant's posted closing time was 12:00 AM. I was celebrating my birthday and was looking forward to having a nice dining experience. When we arrived, the host was friendly, walked us to our table, and asked if we were celebrating anything. I told them it was my birthday. There was also a live band playing when we arrived, which created a nice atmosphere. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill shortly after we were seated. We took a few minutes to wash our hands and get settled. Less than 10 minutes after being seated, our waiter came to the table, did not introduce himself, did not greet us, and immediately told us that the kitchen was closing and asked what food items we wanted. We hadn't even been given water or had the opportunity to order drinks yet. Because we felt rushed, we didn't have time to thoroughly look through the menu and ended up ordering the first items we saw. To make matters worse, my friend wasn't even finished placing her order before the waiter walked away to take what we had already said to the kitchen. We were left feeling like we were being hurried out of the restaurant from the moment we sat down. The service was disappointing. The waiter never smiled, welcomed us, or showed any level of hospitality. His demeanor made it seem as though we were inconveniencing him simply by being there. Since I don't have his name, the best description I can provide is that he was a man with long dreadlocks, gold-trimmed glasses, and a darker complexion. Considering we arrived during business hours with a reservation and were celebrating a birthday, his attitude was frustrating and unprofessional. The food itself was also underwhelming. The rice tasted as though it had been sitting out for a long time, and the wings lacked flavor and seasoning. Overall, the quality did not match what we expected. The combination of being rushed, receiving poor service, and being disappointed with the food completely took away from what was supposed to be a birthday celebration. We didn't even finish our meal. It's newly opened, black-owned, upscale restaurant offering up Caribbean-inspired dishes; pulling particularly from Haitian cuisine. With those attributes alone, count me in! I made a reservation on Resy and noted that if I was a no-show, there would be a $50 cancellation fee per person. I arrived about 10 minutes before my reservation, and was greeted with a dimly lit, beautifully adorned interior and a smiling hostess. The interior is huge! There's two levels of seating. We sat on the lower level. Brianna was our waiter and she seemed very knowledgeable about the menu and recommended a few items. Food: We tried the Suya Chicken Poussin which is draped with hot honey and pepper pickled onion. We also tried the Oxtail, Beef Patty, Pikliz, Berbere Chicken Wings, Akra, Corn Bread and Grilled Shrimp. The oxtail was good. It comes with Haitian white rice. Now, I had to try the white rice. As a Haitian-American, our white rice is very different from a traditional white rice. There's flavor to it. Let's just say it passed and I was impressed. The oxtail was good too; it was on the sweeter side. I prefer my oxtail with a more salty (for the lack of a better word) flavor. I would still get it again even with my preference. The Beef Patty was good as well. Not my favorite, but it's not bad at all. The Akra and Pikliz were spot on! I was very impressed with the Akra; it had the flavors that I am used to. The Pikliz, which is a spicy slaw, could have been spicier. However, I understand they made it on the less spicier side to appease a larger audience. Unfortunately, the biggest downside was the strict two-hour table limit. From the moment we sat down, we felt rushed, with a clear cutoff around the 1 hour and 45 minute mark. While I understand the need to turn tables--especially on busy nights--this is not an inexpensive restaurant, and the pacing took away from what should have been a relaxed dining experience. Once the check was dropped, my party expressed our frustration and asked if we could continue at the bar. We were initially told yes, but upon arriving at the bar, we were told it was reserved only for guests actively dining on Friday nights. That was extremely disappointing, especially after spending close to $800. Although the staff ultimately allowed us to stay, by that point the experience felt soured. Skip the beef patties. Try other small plates... Jerk oyster mushrooms are flavorful. Has black eyed peas and black garlic with it. Oxtail is NOT Jamaican oxtail. More along the lines of Guyanese oxtail. Sweet but it tastes good. The owner let us know they adjusted the recipe from the original coffee flavor. Monkfish was not my favorite. Although, my friends enjoyed it. The flavor reminded me of mackerel. Cream cheese flan was soooooo good. Do not skip. It serves 4-6 people. I will say service was a bit slow. But the server was so lovely. Due to delays, we received complimentary shots. I wish I remembered her name. She was very helpful with the menu and recommendations. The owner and I are long time friends and yet my opinion doesnt need to be biased. Let me start off by saying the decor is absolutely beautiful. There's a royalty vibe upon entry. The host was inviting and our waiter was cool. The menu doesn't have much of a selection as of yet but I will say the few items we did try were delicious. The corn with the white sauce was FIRE. The mushrooms were good and the mocktail was really good it has a unique flavor. The lemon beignet had a unique flavor as well and it was really good. My cousin turned 27 and 6 of us came here for her birthday. The restaurant was beautiful. I loved the vibe. Our reservation was for 10:30pm but we waited over 30 minutes for a table to get up. The manager came over and told us he would give us champagne while we waited. We finally got seated and got the champagne and a round of drinks. For appetizers, the table got cornbread, wings, and beef patties. For dinner, everyone got either oxtail or lamb chops. The food was amazing. The owner came over and bought us a round of shots and the birthday girl got 2. The service was great. The restaurant was on the pricier side. We left a $250 deposit and then each person paid $140. I had a wonderful experience here. Our server provided great service as she was friendly and offered her top picks of appetizers, entrees, and drinks. I loved the decor of the restaurant. The music was very much Caribbean and I loved it! The music was at a volume where you could hold a conversation which was a plus. For appetizers, we decided on the berbere chicken wings which were fried to perfection and the buffalo sauce was the perfect addition. No notes!! The service was beyond. Hospitable, welcoming, and courteous. The decor is STUNNING. Very grand scale and a luxurious but cozy ambiance. Now, the food... wow. Everything that hit our table was delicious. The standouts: the chicken wings (so crispy and well seasoned), the head-on shrimp, oxtail, lamb chops, monkfish, and plantain. My vegan friend said the jerk oyster mushrooms were the best mushrooms he's ever tasted; they were so flavorful and cooked perfectly. Everyone at the table left full and super satisfied. I had a good time until the last 5 seconds. Not sure what is up with the Ogre security guard but he is fake speaking like the spot is a club. The boy really said "let's push" as I am taking a picture of the "Reserve" sign as I am exiting. I ignored him, still took my picture, but i definitely rubbed me wrong. I was with my family and kids, so I played it cool but he was out of pocket. I am thinking brother I just spent $600+, you going to relax and let me take my damn picture. Food was ok, service was good. Entertainment was super dope. Ambiance was very official, no complaints. I went for Valentine's Day dinner and I was really excited because this place has been the entirety of my feed for a while. The ambiance was gorgeous, very moody and sexy. Great place for a date night. The drinks were great, done well. The food was good. We stared with wings and then I had the oxtail. The oxtail was served with white rice on the side and that's pretty much the only side that they had besides plantain which I was confused and disappointed by. When it came it's was giving parboiled with no seasoning or anything. Being Caribbean, I just had higher expectations I guess. The flavor of the oxtail was on point though. Probably some of the best I've had from a restaurant. My boyfriend had the jerk lamb chops which were also so delicious. We finished with the beignets and that was excellent. The flavors were just so well put together. I just really wish the sides were thought about some more. The server was really nice. She catered to me even when I was a little undecided about what I wanted she was kind about it and made suggestions based on what I wanted. I'm not sure if I'd go again maybe for drinks or the carnival experience they have on specific nights but for dinner it's not at the top of my list. read more
