I waited over an hour for my food and it was cold. The food was flavorful however, not the best service.

There's even a community board towards the bathroom, which gives this spot a community-based vibe. It's a quick, casual spot with several tables open for grabs when people leave. I got a traditional everything bagel w cream cheese to start the day, which had the RIGHT amt of cream cheese. Sometimes places give wayy too much, ruining the exp. I also ordered their popular Sumac Chicken sandwich on their Dutch Crunch bread, which was really good!! The bread had a slight sweetness to it that was satisfying and the flavors altogether were soo yummy. I waited ~12 min for my order, since they were rightfully packed. No outside food/drinks allowed if you're grabbing a table to eat. There's WiFi and a restroom in the back. Lots of neighborhood regulars. Bonus points that their food is halal for those w dietary restrictions. Great neighborhood spot!!

Downside to sitting in is the music is loud so if you need a quiet space this probably isn't it. The service is good. Very swift and to the point. I ordered an iced coffee that I wouldn't get again but not a harsh judge on that. Don't think drinks are their strong-suit. Naturally, best part is the sandwiches. I had a corned beef breakfast sandwich on croissant and it was fantastic. Will definitely be back!

Service was very slow, but the place was busy so we understood. Kitchen was extremely slow. Again we understood. Our food was very good. After watching desserts pass by our table all night we flagged down our waiter to order. We were told that we'd have to leave without dessert or coffee because our 90 minutes was almost up. We told him that most of that 90 minutes was spent waiting to order and waiting for our food. He spoke to his manager who confirmed that we'd have to leave. Terrible business model. With so many restaurant choices in Chicago, we won't be returning.

We arrived 20 minutes before our scheduled reservation, but we were seated within five minutes of arriving. The server, David, greeted us promptly when we were seated. He mentioned that if you're ordering appetizers, they should be ordered with the main meal. While we looked over the menu, water was offered. I ordered Blackened Catfish over brown rice and carrots. The catfish was tender and perfectly seasoned. My brother had grilled flounder with creamed corn. Like the catfish, the trout was tender and well-seasoned. The corn had a slight sweetness. Roger had Short ribs and mashed potatoes. The ribs were tender and did not need any sauce because they were seasoned well. We also ordered a side dish of Macaroni and Cheese. It was delicious! A mixture of Gouda cheese and other cheeses. Very creamy! The top layer cheese was baked perfectly! If you know, you know, it's all about the top layer of cheese The APPETIZERS: The Gumbo was spicy but delicious! You only taste the spice at the end . It's not overly spicy; it's just right. The fried chicken gizzards were tender but could have used a bit more seasoning. It was served over brown rice and gravy. If I'm not mistaken, there were maybe 8 or 9 gizzards. The fried green tomatoes were perfect! From the seasoning to the grilled shrimp on top. Oh yes, grilled shrimp with this delicious sauce drizzled over the tomatoes. 3 or 4 shrimp. They were delicious! I've never had fried green tomatoes served w/grilled shrimp--definitely a must-try if you've never had it. For dessert, pineapple upside-down cake with coconut cream on the side. It was soooo good! They could have removed the coconut cream, as it was not needed. And it was a shareable portion for 2-3 ppl. There were other desserts, such as Blueberry Cobbler, Key Lime Pie, and Vanilla Ice Cream. If you're in the Hyde Park area, give these folks a try Oh yeah, the Manager, Louis, was walking the floor. I spoke with him briefly From what I observed, it's a very casual dress code--jeans, shorts, blazers, etc. And I loved the quotes on the outside window of those who were killed, like George Floyd and Sandra Bland. This place was nice! The dining area was clean and decorated nicely. The choice of decor fit the overall scheme I look forward to visiting again, possibly next Spring.

Hubby had the Mediterranean plate with oyster mushrooms. Amazing! We were given complimentary lemonade in celebration of Juneteenth, thank you so much! Sammy at the counter was most helpful. She also told me to my surprise that the current location has been there for 17 years!. It was packed with ppl during ~1:30pm, but we were lucky enough to get a seat at patio. We tried the following dishes: 1. Caesar Salad with Chicken: A huge plate of salad. The greens were quite fresh, and the seasoning was just standard Caesar salad style. We added a side of grilled chicken (about 6oz raw weight), and the meat wasn't dry at all. 2. Rigatoni alla Vodka with Meatball: A very large plate of pasta. The sauce is tomato and cream-based, and the flavor profile is quite mild. The pasta was perfectly al dente. It came with some Parmesan sprinkled on top, and I later asked the food runner to grate a bit more cheese for me. I also added one huge meatball and it was good as well. There were also some dark leafy greens in the pasta, but I wasn't entirely sure what they were. 3. Side of Bagel: We originally wanted a basket of complimentary starter bread, like sourdough, ciabatta, or focaccia. To our surprise, the restaurant didn't have any, so we had to order a side of bagel for $4... Overall, the food we ordered was delicious, and the portion size was quite geneous. The service, however, was mediocre. We waited a long time to order and to pay the bill, which almost made me miss my flight... I tried to make eye contact with our server, useless. But what really made me annoyed was that, when I was about to pay the bill he tried to select the tipping percentage for me?? So I ended up with only 10% tip. This then made him angry and said to us "We are in America you should behave well". Due to this, I may not dine in again -- after all, Chicago does not lack good Italian restaurants!
