My daughters and I were craving Asian food while visiting Juneau, so we decided to try the Lemon Tree Café. It's a small, casual spot with eclectic furniture and bright decor. The food and service were excellent. The owner was friendly and he even spoke Cantonese with me. We ordered the shrimp dumplings, beef stew with rice, and the Old Friend Noodle Soup with pork. Although the shrimp dumplings were a bit pricey for just five pieces, they were delicious. The noodle soup had just the right level of spiciness, and the pork was very tender. This place is very, very easy to miss! The interior is messy with sterile lighting. This is definitely not a place you come for the ambiance. The soups though, are good. Hot soup is a food that's appealing nearly year-round in a place like Juneau, so I'm glad they have a great Asian place like this serving up pho and similar dishes! This place is my comfort. I miss Chinese food, specifically the beef noodle soup, from New York and this is the closest thing to it. The chicken steamed buns are amazing. I usually get the old friend noodle soup with either chicken or pork and it's always delicious and spot on. With COVID there's no indoor seating so I usually call ahead and it's ready in 15 minutes. This cafe reminds me of something I would find in SF and it's a much needed oasis of comfort food. The interior is bright and sunny and they have comfort foods like porridge, boba and soy sauce eggs. Service can be SLOW, things are more or less made to order and they are busy. Extra plates, bowls and water are in a caddy by the cooler, help yourself. Your patience is rewarded with high quality food, everything they serve is amazing. How spicy something comes is hit or miss, it's either lightly spicy or nice and spicy. My favorites are; The Spicy Tofu Rice, Spicy Beef Noodle Soup, The Steam buns and Pork dumplings. However, I can't stress enough EVERYTHING on the menue is super awesome. I came here because I needed wifi. I saw the sign on the window offering wifi. I ordered the Vietnamese sandwich & then saw the sign offering wifi for $1. Usually wifi is free with being a customer. I've never been in a restaurant where they charge you for wifi. Don't come here expecting free wifi with your food. The food was mediocre. read more

This is a great little cafe for lunch or dinner. The food is affordable, and they have a good variety. I love the Yummy Cold Noodle and the steamed buns. The staff is hard-working and so friendly. There aren't very many restaurants like this in Juneau, and it reminds me of my hometown. read more

Thought this place looked good from the outside. Beef noodle soup contained almost all fatty low grade beef. A little too authentic for my taste. $12 is too much for fat filled low grade beef. Maybe the Vietnamese sandwich at $7 would have been a better choice. Didn't ask for my money back, and owner didn't offer. Last time I ever go here.
