Stopped by Lena's @ Agway Danvers and, again, they had no chicken salad. This is the third time when I've stopped into this shop, over just a few months, to be told they're 'sold out' . So disappointing.... obviously their chicken salad is popular, so why not make extra, or at least have the ingredients readily available to throw together another batch. I was told if I wanted to come back later, she could have some ready. . Repeatedly running out of ingredients, especially during lunch hours, doesn't reflect well on a sandwich shop. I never ran into this issue at other Lena shops....guess I need to find a new Lena's. read more

Located at Agway farm store a sandwich shop carrying on the Lena's sub shop name and tradition. Loaded sandwiches with totally fresh ingredients. All veggies sliced not diced which makes a true traditional sub sandwich. Take out only but great service and good read more

I looked online to see if there was still a Tony Lena's around. I came across Lena's. We ordered an Italian and a ham and cheese. This was exactly what we were looking for. The sandwiches were delicious! Their sub rolls are different from most of the traditional sub shops. Soft bread, fresh meat and veggies. We had a great convo with the woman working while we waited. This will be the ONLY place we will be getting subs from moving forward. We are so delighted we took the drive over to check out Lena's. There is a hardware shop attached and it's adorable. Their out door flowers and plays for sale were beautiful. Someone was buying chickens! read more

OMG!!! Lets just say, this place is HARD to find but well worth the visit!! I got the meat and Cheese 6" sub with chips, drink and one of their Chocolate Moonpies... it was DELICIOUS We will definitely be back!!! I have GOT to try more of their subs!! read more

I've only had the Tuna sub, but on multiple occasions. I drive way out of my way from the Peabody/Salem line, to the Danvers/Wenham line just for this sub. Keep doing what your doing and I'll keep coming back! read more

Nothing special- pretty generic menu offerings and the food isn't bad but not memorable by any stretch. Also, WHY DONT YOU HAVE A WEBSITE ?!?! I really hate to leave bad reviews for places, especially for a place I used to love so much, but I felt the need to address the situation that happened today when I stopped by to order 6 subs. I was so happy to see them open because 3 times in the past year I've gone by during the stated open hours to find the place closed. My husband and I placed our order for 6 subs and we were told it would be a little bit. Of course, no issue. We walked around Agway next door to kill some time. 15 minutes later we go in to get our subs and the woman working said she only had 1 sub made because she was taking other customers' orders that were coming in. She said she was working alone and big orders should be called in. We just happened to be driving by and stopped in, so why not tell the people coming in after us that you are making an order and it will be a few minutes for them? Even if we called in the order, apparently she would still be taking customers walking in first, so how would that have helped? If someone had to wait for their subs, why did it have to be our order when we were there first? Why prioritize one customer over another who would be spending at least $100 on food? The reasoning just doesn't make sense to me. When we asked why other customers were taken care of before us even though we were there first, the woman working was getting upset that we were frustrated. I tried to explain our reasoning for not wanting to stick around for another 15 minutes while the subs were finally being made. We paid for the drink we got and left without the subs we wanted. This is not the way to run a small business. read more

Let me start by saying, I've been to Lena's 4 times now and this is the first time I've noticed the price gouging. The sandwiches are not going to blow your socks off but the seem fresh and clean, just your basics. My rating would have been higher but I went in today for a medium turkey sub, cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles and mayo. I went to pick it up and picked up a Gatorade and large bag of Ray's chips. When the cashier rang me up and ever said $18 and change, my jaw dropped. This is your average run of mill turkey sub and it's not a liter of Gatorade or a large bag of chips from BJ's. When I asked how much the sub was, she said 9.99 and I thought that was high, but then she told me it was a extra $2 for cheese. I was blown away. There's maybe 5oz of plain turkey (not home made, cold cut, not even honey or pepper turkey, just regular cold cut turkey) some wilted shredded lettuce, 2 slices of tomatoes, 4 pickle slices and 2 what looked like individually sliced pieces of cheese ($1 a slice if your keeping score at home) not even boars Head American cheese, I was really put off. I spent 32 years of my life 5 minutes outside of Boston (currently a danvers resident) and currently work out of East Boston, where there are some truly great, and Hall of Fame sub shops, and they don't even charge me $18 dollars for a medium turkey cheese lettuce tomato pickles mayo sub, Gatorade and bag of chips. Lena's should be ashamed of themselves and could not even hold a candle to the quality and creativity of a Roy's or Rossetti's Average subs at best and outrageous pricing! I will not be going back and will not be referring anyone to Lena's. read more

These subs are by far the best subs on the North Shore! That being said, the hours of operation are a bit ridiculous. Why are they not open for more hours for evening business beats me? If it's simply that the doorway shares the doorway with Agway... Buy a new door! They are losing out on a ton of business for people like my family that enjoy a nice sub for dinner once in a while! It's a shame we can't visit there more often. And of course I'm writing this while I'm hangry because they're not open now and I was driving over to get a sub. read more

Today I tried the Lena's inside the Danvers Agway. I ordered a large Italian sub with everything but hots. Huge! Three small subs out of one, and it was delicious! I also bought four of their meatballs to have with pasta tomorrow night, a brownie and a strawberry milk. This Lena's is really convenient for me. I will definitely return. Someone mentioned that their tuna sub is really good, so I look forward to trying it. It's a tiny shop at the front of the Agway, so I wouldn't go in as a large group unless you take turns ordering and wait outside. It can fit two to three people in front of the counter MAX. Great Italian subs just like I remember. Just found out they were in the Agway and had to get my Lena's fix. Met Dan and he was very personable. He also told me they sold 70,000 subs last year. They are definitely doing it right. read more

Hands down the Best Meatball Sub. Every component from the bread to the sauce to the meatballs is over the top yummtastic! Was glad to find that the original Lenas is still around and they make it all just like they always have. Quality. read more

The best tuna sub on the northshore . All white meat tuna perfectly schredded with a great mayo on a fresh backed subroll . The soups are very tasty ! Will continue to get my tuma fix at lena's read more

I question the business practices. I had a coupon that said it did not expire. This was dated nine months ago, not a year ago which was a reason given for not honoring this. My attempts to point out these points were rudely rebuffed. I left without my order and will never return. read more

LOVE THIS PLACE. Boy was I thrilled to find out that Lena's from Danversport is now Lena's on Wenham Street in Danvers. I thought once the Lena's in Danversport closed, my tuna days were over. I don't even like tuna fish...... ONLY Lena's. When this new location opened, the lady "Irene" from Danversport helped out to get them established and keep the same wonderful quality of the famous Lena Subs. I swear by their tuna subs. When you order a large one footer, you know you can get two meals out of it. DELICIOUS. They just slab big scoops of tuna onto the rolls and what a delightful treat when you get home. IT IS ALL WHITE MEAT. Some other Lena's Subs don't use all white meat and some even weigh the tuna before placing it in the roll. BLAH.... penny-pinching subs caused many other locations to close down. I tried a few other places using this same name in the past and after a few bites of those subs, the rest ended up in the trash. Not this place on Wenham Street. IT IS THE BEST. I have also tried Italian cold cut subs. meatball sandwiches, and soup in the cold weather. I have also had chicken salad and even their lobster salad is really yummy. I will forever be a customer for as long as they are open. It just doesn't get any better than this. I come from Peabody and nobody here can make a tuna sandwich like this place. You know, I am thinking of driving over there right now and getting a sandwich for myself. How could I forget this but I need to tell you this sub shop is clean as a whistle..... every corner shines to pristine perfection. Now for the topping on the sundae..... the owner's name is "CHRIS" and she is a sweetheart. I have observed that she ALWAYS wants to please the customer. She is extremely accommodating, friendly, and just a very kind lady. It is well worth the 10 minute trip for one of their many delectable sandwiches. You won't be disappointed. read more
