it's with great regret that I will no longer going to super sub. been a very loyal customer since I was a young child. 30+years. multiple people in my family get a finger sub 3way. if you know a 3way can only be made with James river, there is no substitution. they no longer offer JR. instead it's a basic bbq sauce with a weird flavor. a couple months ago I ordered a couple large finger 3ways. When we got home and took a bite, it was not James river "not a 3way". My daughter wouldn't even eat it. I check in every couple weeks to see if they have restocked JR. I get told from staff it's coming back. It's not!! And I'm done coming in. Very sad day. read more

I know this place is a north shore staple, but it's not as good as it once was. Steak & Cheese subs really lacked flavor. The salad had ridiculously large pieces of pepper. I live in Melrose but my parents live in Beverly as does my sister and her family. On a few occasions when visiting them, we've grabbed subs from Super Sub for lunch. I've gone with the steak, egg and cheese every time as I'm a creature of habit and it is damn good (I recommend adding ketchup and Mayo). Today was my birthday and my father said he was coming by and would bring whatever I wanted for lunch. I picked Super Sub both for his convenience and because, well like I said, it is damn good. When my dad showed up he said that my sub was on Super Sub. He said he was chatting up the owner while waiting and told him he was getting the food for my birthday. The owner then proceeded to say that my sub was on the house and to pass along the birthday wishes. All of this in a pandemic where restaurants are struggling nonetheless! I've always tried to live by the idea of giving to others - especially in times when it is hard to - and it seems that the owner of Super Subs believes in the same idea. I can't thank him enough for the selfless birthday gesture and I hope this karma is revisited upon him and his business for a long time to come!
