    a pizza in a box
    Suzanne J.

Being long time patrons of Lupos, 10 plus years, tonight is the night last night I will ever order food from them, and that is very unfortunate. After ordering two pizzas, that we have ordered several times before, they arrived with the toppings and cheese in the corner of the box. Questioning, we called and they offered to deliver two new pizzas, which we graciously accepted because we understand things happen. However, when the second set of pizzas arrived, approximately 30 minutes later, the same outcome arose. We chatted with the delivery driver, who was very pleasant, apologetic, and called Lupos's to state what happened again. The response from the person he called was unacceptable and unprofessional. The person contacted said, the pizzas we ordered are "loose pizzas" due to one being an Alfredo, and that if "we wanted we can pick them up ourselves and see what happens". Needless to say, after 10 years of ordering pizzas for Pats and Bruins games, including said pizza from this post, we will no longer be giving Lupo's our business. The pictures posted are from the two attempts of delivering tonight.

2.9 miles to the asshat that answered my call.

Gluten Free pizza was awful. Would not recommend - made it through one slice and had to throw the rest of it away.

I was in the area on business so i decided to try Danvers Pizza and Subs. Husband has celiac and I…read moream lactose intolerant so the menu containing gluten free pizzas, apps, subs and calzones really caught our attention! I had a gluten free pizza with vegan cheese, green pepper and extra sauce. The pizza was good. The crust is great and the vegan cheese they use is good too. My only issue was that there was only a very thin layer of sauce - even with me ordering it with extra sauce. It needed a lot more sauce. The huz got a cheesy crust/stuffed crust style pizza with sausage and pepperoni. After actually not recommending i order this pizza, the guy explained that they take their gluten free calzone dough and use it to make the pizza so they can fold the edge over to contain cheese. It is a different dough/crust than they use for just a regular gluten free pizza. He also stated they did a well-done bake on this dough because it needs it. He also explained that they have separate prep areas for the GF pizzas. We appreciated that they are mindful of this and knowledgeable about their product in this manner. Its funny that I had to talk him into letting me order this pizza. He expressed fear about bad reviews. I explained we are a household used to GF items and its not a problem. Im happy to report that the pizza was very good. He had nothing to worry about with us. Also, when i tell you that the gluten free onion rings were AMAZING, believe me. These were some of the best onion rings ive ever had - gluten free or conventional!! Lastly, I also had a small meatball sub with a regular/conventional roll. This was also good. Overall great menu of conventional and gluten free pizza and subshop items. Gluten free items always cost more so a higher purchase total was expected. The only thing that i would say was unexpectedly pricey was the small conventional meatball sub coming in at $15. That said, loving the wide range of gluten free options and will be back when im in the area again.

We got potstickers and the corn dip for appetizers. The potstickers were average at best, but the dipping sauce...it was like dipping them in a bowl of saltwater (I get that it's supposed to be salty, but this was BEYOND what I expected). The corn dip was underwhelming...it was ice cold corn mixed with some seasoning and cheese. The chips were stale. For my main meal I got the Mac and Cheese with steak tips...both items came out cold. Mac and cheese was BLAND. I don't like my food piping hot, but this wasn't even lukewarm. Got a side of bland eggplant fries that seemed undercooked and lacked any kind of sauce for dipping. Had some of my wife's French fries and they seemed skimpy and not cooked enough. Dessert...I got the bread pudding...edges were BURNED and the rest was MUSH!!! My daughter enjoyed the ice cream and whipped cream that came with it. Service was fine and they did check thoroughly about some possible food allergens for my wife. We took most of our food home, but I have a feeling it won't get eaten.

Always good and generous amount. I was there quite often. I did stop going there when ownership changed because of a number of different reasons which I will not get into. Then the new owner returned..YAY and I was very happy when the original owners returned and I stopped and ordered my usual. Was I surprised to see that it rang up to $19. and change. I could not believe that my salad which had ice burg lettuce (not expensive) and (chicken -also not expensive) was out of site in it's price jump. How can you justify charging a customer that much? I will not be returning and told all my work friends and they will not return. I do understand when prices of goods go up you pass it along to your customers. However, not every item has gone out of site for cost with the increased that you made for each item. Expecting someone to pay that much for a simple salad with chicken, feta and a side of pita bread to cost close to $20-- that is INSANE. There used to be many cars parked in your lot with people picking up their orders. I drive by there everyday on my way home and maybe 1 or 2 cars if that are there now. You are pricing yourself out of business. No one wants to pay those kind of prices for meals on the go. We are not being served at a semi fancy restaurant just a to go meal. I am sorry that you have inflated your prices or kept them don't know about your previous owner but come on. The average person is not going to spend that kind of money for their family to eat take out. Several people I know have stopped picking up food from your place. Something you should think about as you go forward with less and less customers. Why do you think McDonald's has changed their menu and is now offering lower costs. Sometimes owners have to cut their profits in these times of higher costs to keep their customers. Just my two cents. I have no negatives to say about your food...although I haven't gone back to check out any of the new items.

While the pancakes were just okay and probably something I'd skip next time to make room for new items, the rest of the meal was solid enough to keep me coming back. One thing you have to try is their signature ketchup. It's super interesting--almost like a cross between American Ketchup and Asian Banana Ketchup. We definitely needed a few extra helpings of ketchup for our eggs and hash bowl! The atmosphere is such a vibe, too; it has this modern-meets-ranch feel with a super cute rooster mural on the wall that ties it all together. Plus, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked in. It's a great spot to fuel up for the day!
