Came here around 12 pm on a Saturday on a perfect beach day after being at the beach. A lot of the tables outside were occupied and there was some bar seating inside but I opted to eat my food a little further away in some shade so I ordered to go. There were some people waiting for their food which is made to order. I got the fried chicken sandwich platter which I got with tomatoes lettuce and mayo on the sandwich, and came with coleslaw and fries on the side. Food took a but I'd time to come out but makes sense since it was made after I ordered. Everything was piping hot and they asked if I wanted ketchup. I put the coleslaw on the sandwich and ate it and it was delicious, well cooked and juicy! I grabbed some salt and pepper for the fries which were cut on the thicker side and overall quite filling. I finished my sandwiches but ended up reheating most of my fries the next day for a snack. Overall solid food, a lot of options, and I'll definitely be back to try some of their seafood and ice cream!

"Piper, Piper, the red, red worm Woke last night to the sound of the storm" (Phish) Want a very nice seafood meal within view of Long Island sound, with a menu overflowing with calamari, shrimp, clams, steamers, crab cakes, mussels, oysters, chowders, lobster, scrod, scallops, swordfish, and salmon cooked in a zillion ways? Well look, no further, just follow Cosey Beach Avenue down to the beach and you'll find the Sandpiper Restaurant. Their menu is overflowing with all the aforementioned seafood goodies, plus sandwiches, salads, pastas, steaks, chicken, pizzas and more. We took a seat on the outdoor patio and met our server Jordyn, who was very friendly and professional. Our party of three ordered a cup of Rhode Island style clam chowder ($7), an order of (two) Fish Tacos served with corn salsa and a red pepper aioli ($14), a hamburger plate with fries ($14), and an order of fish and chips ($22). The chowder and tacos were mine, and I have to tell ya, the chowder was fantastic. It was jam packed with tender chopped clams and diced potatoes. Likewise, the tacos were very good, with a good-sized filet on a bed of that corn salsa. Fairly good portions, too. Speaking of portions, the fish and chips was about the largest portion of that signature dish I had ever seen! My wife's burger was also a good portion, and I mooched a few of her fries, so I can attest they were very good. One oddity we noticed was a surcharge on the menu if you want lettuce or tomato on your burger. Cheese, I understand. Sauteed onions I understand. But lettuce and tomato? That's pretty unusual. Jordyn told us that Sandpiper is open all year round, so they won't be closing for the "off-season" soon. She said they are looking forward to some Holiday parties and holiday catering in December. I bet they sell a lot of their fried seafood platters for December parties.

I was a late sit-in but Lisa M reassured me that there was no rush and I could take me time. She was really nice and made me feel welcomed. The food was good. The lobster bisque had some big chunk of lobster in it. The lobster roll was packed with lobster meat and the lobster tails were fresh.

Awesome lobster roll! Annie was a great server! Very friendly and attentive and quick! Will be coming back that's for sure!

First time here. It's directly across the street from the Town Beach in East Haven so I decided to stop in because I was in the mood for clams on the half shell. Ordered 1/2 a dozen that were $18 bux. Yikes. The clams, cocktail sauce and horseradish was all meh. My Cosmo martini was also meh. Definitely not worth the money. I might try this place again though as some of the fried seafood they were serving looked pretty good with decent size portions.

Cozy, casual seafood restaurant next to the beach. There's a takeout area in front with outdoor seating and a full-serviced indoor restaurant in the back with a spacious customer parking lot. My family stopped by here during a road trip, and everyone loved it. Food was fresh and delicious, service was attentive, and the staff also very kindly addressed an issue we had with one of our dishes. The popular lobster roll was fantastic (as expected), but don't sleep on the other dishes - my husband's broiled sea scallops platter was delicious and came with a generous amount of large scallops. Great lunch overall!

According to their story, it's all naturally produced from the milk of their 300 cows housed at Arethusa Farm in Litchfield, CT. The menu is packed with delicious and interesting flavors, and taste-testing is gladly allowed. My daughter got a cup of the mint chip, while I opted for a waffle cone with sweet cream and chocolate. Both were absolutely delicious. The ambiance is that of an upscale ice cream spot. The interior features a bright, clean, and welcoming black-and-white design, with framed photos of their farm cows lining the walls. There is no traditional table seating inside--just two benches and some standing room--so it is mostly an order-to-go setup. It is also conveniently located right around the corner from the Yale University campus, making it a perfect treat to enjoy while walking. The service can be a little on the slow side, but that's likely because they graciously let everyone sample flavors. The employees are incredibly friendly, engaging, and informative about the shop's most popular scoops. An absolute must-visit in New Haven.

Late July is peach season, and the sweet aroma of peaches blends beautifully with the natural richness of milk. The first taste is the sweet and sour peach, with fruit pieces bursting like popping boba, followed by a rich and mellow fruity aroma that instantly transports you to an orchard. All of this is built on a rich and natural milk base. Butter Pecan: A spontaneous choice. Overall, it's slightly salty within the milky flavor, with pecan nuts as a topping, making it a rather full-bodied one. Fortunately, it's not too sweet, so it's not cloying, and the slight saltiness adds a nice touch. I thought it was just okay, but my parents loved it. Sweet Cream Chocolate Chip: Apparently their signature flavor. The sweet cream wasn't actually too sweet, but the cream was very rich and fragrant; the real sweetness came from the chocolate chips, which burst in your mouth with every chew, and even just a sample was slightly cloying. The staff were very friendly, proactively offering recommendations and samples. Taking a break with ice cream while strolling around campus and the art gallery is definitely a great experience.

Just water to one side, coastal highway, and then Riva. The bartending staff is definitely skilled. They're fast, friendly... and make a drink that has kick but you don't get the alcoholic burn. A dangerous combo for sure. The food was good too. A double patty burger and onion rings, at $25 give or take, definitely the right price range for it. My one gripe is the beer prices. $9 for a can of Miller Lite is very steep. I get there's overhead, staff wages, taxes, all of that, but a high price for a cheaper beer is a deterrent. When the cocktails are $4 more but you get a decent amount for the drink, that's totally fair. Craft beers at $9 is understandable. But cheap domestics at that level? It's not the best decision there. But other than the drink prices, it's clean, great staff, very good food, and an experience that made me go "I'll come back when it's summertime for sure"

This might be someone else's cup of tea, but unfortunately it just wasn't mine…read more When I first saw this restaurant on Instagram, I genuinely thought it was an upscale waterfront restaurant. As the date got closer and I looked more into it, I realized it was actually more of a sports bar/entertainment venue vibe which, honestly, I should have known going in. That's on me. I'm just not a sports girlie, and this place is clearly made for people who love that atmosphere. We went on Fourth of July weekend, which was probably the busiest possible time to go. If you love being surrounded by tons of people, loud music, sports fans, jerseys everywhere, and a high-energy crowd, this could be your dream night. The World Cup was on, everyone was dressed in their team gear, and the energy was definitely there. But for me personally, it was overwhelming. It was also 101 degrees outside, and while part of the area is partially enclosed, most of the space is outdoors. Between the heat and the crowds, I was just uncomfortable. Again, that's not necessarily the restaurant's fault the weather and holiday weekend definitely played a role but it affected my overall experience. We arrived around 5:30 PM because we wanted to catch happy hour (which ended at 6). Parking was easy, and the line to get in only had a few people ahead of us, so no complaints there. The surprise came when we reached the entrance and were told there was a $20 cover charge. When I asked if there was usually a cover, they said no, but because it was a holiday weekend and they "had a lot going on," they were charging one. My issue was that this wasn't advertised anywhere on their Instagram or when we were planning our visit, so that was frustrating. Paying $20 to enter a mostly outdoor venue where there weren't even seats available didn't sit well with me. All the tables were full, so we ended up sharing a table with another couple. We ordered the wood-fired pizza -- buffalo chicken and margarita and I'd rate it about a 7/10. It was good, but nothing that I'd specifically go back for. They do have a lot of other food options, but I personally only tried the pizza. For drinks, they have cute bucket options, but I didn't want that. I ordered a Peach on the Beach (whiskey-based), and it was fine. Drink prices were actually reasonable and not overpriced. They also have a creamery, which was a nice touch. I got a scoop of pistachio ice cream for $5.31, and that was honestly very good. They advertised fireworks at 9 PM, but as it got closer, the DJ announced that guests would need to leave the property, walk across the street to the beach to watch them, and then wait in line again to get back inside. At that point, we decided to leave. When we left, the line to get into the restaurant was absolutely massive; there was no way I would have waited in that. Getting out of West Haven was also a nightmare. It took me about 45 minutes to get out, even though getting there only took a couple of minutes. Overall, I think this place could be a great time for the right person. If you love sports, big crowds, loud music, and a party atmosphere, you will probably have a blast. If you're looking for an upscale waterfront dining experience, higher-end food, or a more relaxed night out, this probably isn't the place. My biggest advice: don't go on a holiday weekend unless you're specifically looking for that packed, high-energy experience. On a regular weekend, I could see this being a completely different experience.
