Ham Steak Breakfast was so delicious!!
    Ralph S.

On our way home today we stopped to visit friends in Colonial Beach, VA. Colonial Beach is a historic waterfront town on Virginia's Northern Neck, known for its second-longest public beach in Virginia, a vibrant boardwalk, and a variety of water activities like kayaking and boating. Located on the Potomac River, it offers a mix of local history, including Civil War sites and birthplace monuments, alongside modern attractions like breweries, restaurants, and year-round events. Visitors can enjoy the beaches, explore the town's shops and eateries, or take a golf cart cruise to discover the area's charm. Plus we enjoyed delicious brunch at Lenny's Restaurant. Under new ownership as of 2016 Lennys Restaurant is currently run by Shirley Griffiths. For 30 years it was owned and operated by Leonard S. Skeens, who passed away in 2007. Lenny's is a small family style restaurant serving breakfast and lunch. I had their delicious ham steak breakfast and Carol had their Turkey and Swiss sandwich. All in all, it was a good breakfast experience and a chance to spend quality time with some good friends. I'd like to return one day for lunch as the burgers and fries looked pretty darn good.

Breakfast burrito- can't remember the name but it was soooo delicious!

Recently came for Sunday brunch during a family visit. Had to wait for a little while because the place was hopping busy. Let me tell you, the wait was worth it. The food was absolutely delicious and filling. I got a breakfast burrito and could only eat half at the restaurant. I was blessed enough to enjoy the rest on my way home, and will absolutely be eating there again. 10/10

came by friday morning (5-23-25). "awesome place, people and great atmosphere . i loved it

Always fast, fresh, and friendly. Hard not to like the staff and their energy. Great scrapple, crispy breakfast potatoes, etc.

Updated review 6/19: Awww Lenny's, it looks like I'm going to have to break up with you! You've changed, you've been cheating on me! you're bae-con my heart! Whenever we made a trip to CB, we'd always make plans to see you! But we're done! It's over! You know what you did! In case you're scratching your head, here's why I've fallen out of love with you: This past weekend, my sis and niece came to see you. My niece had never met you and we were excited to introduce her to you. Sadly, you made a terrible impression. We sat outside at one of three cute wrought iron tables all with umbrellas and the front door was bright hanging plants and flower pots. Looks can be deceiving though. Our server, Kyle, polite and friendly, was just not efficient. We asked for items several times and he'd come back and forth and forget to bring them. When our food did come out, very slowly I might add, it was awful! My meal: the scrambled eggs weren't scrambled, it was like a big flat yellow blob. I ordered country ham but was served a burnt ham steak. When Kyle brought the correct ham, it was tasteless. The pancake was sad and doughy, they used to be fluffy and golden brown. The grits were lumpy and just plain blech!!! My niece's meal: She ordered Eggs Benedict with crab meat. DON'T ORDER THIS! It was simply gross. Not only did it look disgusting, but when she and my sis tried it, they gagged. It was smelly, fishy and bad. The management made lame excuses when I told them and gave me a hard time when I asked to take it off the bill. Instead of taking the whole price of the entrée off, they just took off $3.50 for the bad crab. My sister's meal: She ordered sausage and eggs which was edible but not great. She and I went in to see about the bill, and we saw that the staff had changed... the short order cook was some young dude who was plating up some nasty looking food. He definitely doesn't know how to cook eggs. We left dissatisfied and disappointed! So, Len, here's your ring back and don't try to call me.... we're over! Some of the photos in this review of are our happier days together. I'll cherish those memories fondly...

Light breakfast, one pancake, one egg, choice of breakfast meat. Just enough!

Absolutely delicious breakfast wrap. 5 stars! They just make their own sausage patties because those were the star of the show.

The food is really good but you would not guess from the outside appearance. Ashtray is really gross - a real turnoff.

She pretended that she did and came back with a plate of beef with beef gravy and two biscuits. I had to take several minutes to explain what creamed chipped beef is and she didn't understand (she's hispanic and barely speaks english). After asking for a manager she says there isn't one there? Eventually another server came and finally understood what I wanted. Finally, I got my chipped beef. It was just okay. The taste was different from all the other places that i've ordered it. My girlfriend got over easy eggs with hash browns and toast (off-menu order). She liked it, but it's hard to screw that up anyway. The coffee was decent enough but I've had better. The diner is small and looks like a typical diner. I'm not sure if I'd come back, it was definitely a poor experience this time around.

The service was great and incredibly attentive. Everyone was so nice. I ordered waffles, scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, and coffee. The waitresses might ask all their questions to ensure it is cooked to our liking. I barely have pictures because I was so famished. We ended up staying for like 2-3 hours talking as the restaurant started to wind down, and they let us sit and chat while we watched the parking wars outside. MY biggest con is the parking. It is annoying that Sardi's catering occupies 30-40% of the lot. There is a fast turnaround, so my friends and I literally sat and waited to catch someone leaving before parking, rather than driving in circles. There is a hotel next door with ample signs that it's for guests only and that you will be towed; however, I still saw people do it and then watch their cars from the window lol. I think this did put a bad stain on my experience bc it took me about 20 minutes to get parking.

All of our eggs were cooked to perfection, the hash browns had the perfect crisp, and most notably - their fries?! That crunch and potato/batter ratio was chef's kiss! Note: you can sub the salad for fruits which we both did for our Benedicts, pic not shown I would love to give this place 5 stars, but unfortunately, the service was quite slow. I ran out of water so I tried to catch the eye of every single staff member there, raising my hand, and absolutely no one looked my way. Our server eventually brought food to the table next to us so I was able to flag her down. Other than that, the place was cute and I'd come again!

For example, yesterday, I had their Peter's Special, a sandwich made from 1/2 lb of pastrami and 1/2 lb of corned beef. Except that it's not "a" sandwich, but three, all on delicious rye bread, each with its own pickle, and a small helping of slaw, sauerkraut, and a major pile of salad. It was my lunch yesterday; the remaining two sandwiches are my lunch today and tomorrow. That's three meals for $30, which, to me, is a reasonable price. The problem was that the more they do to create the food, the less flavorful it is. For example, on another recent visit, I had their Country Style Omelet. Again, it was huge and contained everything that goes into a great omelet. Except, there wasn't a lot of flavor. And that seems to be the theme. I grabbed a slice of their 24-layer cake and, again, big but not much taste beyond sweetness. If you crave a lot of food, then this might be the spot for you. However, if you prefer less and more, smaller portions with better, more nuanced flavor, then maybe try one of the other nearby restaurants.
