My husband and I have been eating Sunday breakfast at Lenny's for over a year as we built our new home. The staff is attentive and always pleasant. Pancakes, waffles and the #3 OM hard, hash browns, sausage and rye toast always good. Before we even order, Tina brings us our coffee, water w/lemon and OJ since we're regulars. When they're busy you may have to wait 10 minutes for your order to come out. OK with me. You can eat in or order take out. Lenny's is your standard small town diner. There's nothing special about it. History and charm only get you so far. Atmosphere is lacking. Food is mediocre at best (how do you mess up scrambled eggs). In a town where so much is available fresh or local, neither is the case here. The prices are great and the service is nice, though. First day in colonial beach, came for late breakfast with the kids seemed to be one of few restaurants open on a Tuesday. Ordered eggs, hotdog/fries, chicken and waffles. Place was pretty empty, took 40 mins for our food to arrive, all cold. Eggs cold, hot dog fries cold, chicken and waffles was two fried tenders and some eggo's. Oh Lenny's, we had such high hopes for you. The good. They've updated their menu and now have hash browns in a world of home fries and for that, we are grateful. The chef did a pretty good job considering in a room full of unbussed tables and unserved customers the only other two people working there( whom I can only assume were the owners) are no where to be found. So the chef takes orders, serves coffee, and sees to customers as best she can while still trying to cook! The food was good, would have been better if the owners gave a dang about their customers like the chef and took their orders. Eventually they came back, and unwaited on customers left, and the old dude was snarky when he brought the second half of my wife's order 15 minutes after the first, but only before he tried to give us someone else's clearly long awaited order. This was all because they had something they thought was better to do. The chef was great, I hope she can get a better gig, or at least new establishment owners that give a dang. Two stars because of the chef, zero stars for the other two. Ok so we went back the next day, when I give a bad review I like to give them a chance to redeem themselves. If the owner is cooking, keep on walking, he has no cooking skills. Lenny's daughter cooks great! I've never had as much grease in a hash brown as I had today, really gross. read more

I had breakfast there this morning. It was soooooo good. large servings and price was great.

So I have 30 minutes before I need to be at a 10:30 Service call and I see this place. I come in, everyone is super polite, I sit down and order and I have a GIANT plate of biscuits and gravy in 5 minutes. It's amazing the guys refills my drink before it's even empty. It's safe to say the next time I'm in Colonial Beach I will be stopping at Lenny's! read more

The food was pretty decent. I had the Lenny burger, fried pickles, and a coke. The staff was very friendly. The pickles were a bit greasy, but I'm sure they just came out of the fryer. Also, the burger patty was a little disappointing like it was a low to mid quality frozen burger from the grocery store. However, I was quite pleased with the look and the food was on par with most diners like this. It was good enough that I'd go back. Had a bad experience several years ago and have avoided Lenny's. However, was talked into giving it another try as they had new owners, new remodel, new menu, etc. Went there today for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Everything we ordered was good and the service was prompt and courteous. Will definitely go back again. I gave it four stars instead of five because it was a little warm in there on a hot day - would have been more comfortable if it were cooler. read more

We ate breakfast here Saturday morning based on a reference from a local. It's "the place" for eggs made to order. For a little less than six bucks I had the two eggs, breakfast potatoes, ham and toast along with coffee. Breakfast isn't rocket science, but they definitely had it down. The over easies were perfectly cooked, our waitress was friendly and efficient, and the food came out fast. A dive-y sort of breakfast joint in a 30 year time warp where everyone knows everyone. Looking for someone in town, but they haven't returned your phone calls? Chances are you'll find 'em here Sunday mornings for breakfast. Like Colonial Beach itself, it's not a flashy place, but the food is a notch above your typical Waffle house standard. The waitstaff and friendly and will make you feel right at home. It's cheap too...like you could get away with breakfast for a five bills and change per person. Four of us went for breakfast. We loved our waitress, who was super sweet and friendly, and despite getting behind as the place filled up, she managed to get us everything we needed. However the food was just awful, and surprisingly overpriced for diner fare. Out of 4 breakfasts, only the oatmeal (which was huge) was good. My omelette had leftover cooked (or possibly canned?) spinach in it. The eggs were oily; the western omelette had slimy white onions; the pancakes were flat and saturated with rancid vegetable oil. The only highlight was that they serve real dairy with the coffee. The bill for 4 was $50, not including tip. Not going back unless it's just for coffee. read more

We moved here a couple months ago and finally gave this place a try as it's within walking distance. I ordered a burger which was halfway acceptable as food. My wife had wings and fries which were not edible. The wings appeared to have been microwaved with a ton of nasty sauce slathered on top in way more quantity than should ever be served (I'm assuming in an attempt to cover up the poor quality underneath). The fries had less-than-gas station quality cheese on top and were cold (thinking they microwaved those first). To make matters worse, when our waitress came to check on us she took notice that hardly anything had been ate and simply asked if we needed a Box and our check. We would've been better off eating the $27 we left without. I have to assume the positive reviews on here are from locals who want to see local businesses flourish and I commend them. For anyone looking for a real review of this dump look no further and drive the extra .3 miles up the road to McDonalds. read more

Beware** This new ownership Lenny's is not the same food as the old!! I ordered egg/cheese omelet...it had FAKE CHEAP inexpensive processed unhealthy Velveeta nasty "cheese" Slime on it!! They're TOO CHEAP to give you REAL cheese!! (At least they could WARN people first, so I could have ordered different eggs!) AND...you can't get Normal breakfast, sit-down-restaurant style hash browns!! The ONLY 2 (Nasty!) types they offer: (BOTH CHEAP, inexpensive, unhealthy and quick DEEP FRIED) one choice is the FRIED square one (like McDonalds) or the deep FRIED small prepackaged nasty ball pieces. That's it! REALLY??? Is it THAT HARD to serve Normal shredded hash browns???!! Or baked-potato-pieces hash browns???!! We don't want everything FRIED!! They don't even leave the jelly packs on the table anymore for Pete's sake. Only give you 2, SO STINGY!! I won't be going back. What a shame. It used to be my favorite place. I've been eating breakfast a Lenny's for more than two years. In that time, I have seen the quality of the food diminish terribly. Also during this period I have observed many unsanitary food handling, from dropping food on the floor and placing it back in the fryer to using bare hands to handle food. When I quietly said something to the cooks, the lead cook to exception and told me I was no longer welcome in the restaurant. The owner Shelby is a sweet person and I certainly understand that good help is hard to get in a small town. However I would not suggest this diner to anyone. read more
