I was pleasantly surprised and impressed by the quality and quantity of fresh and delicious food this evening at Marie's! I ate one of the most tender and moist fried chicken breasts that I have ever tasted. the mashed potatoes were fresh, hot and creamy, two types of gravy were offered and both the cornbread and biscuits were tender, flavorful and delicious. The broccoli was steamed but not not floppy and the green salad was a generous portion of green goodness. I could only eat about half of the offerings and the price was less that $12. from where I was sitting, my daughter's bar be que chicken and Mac and cheese looked great and my granddaughters child portion of turkey dinner was as delicious and generous as the adult meals. To me Marie's has the best breakfast in the area. I haven't had any issues. The wait isn't too bad depending on when you visit. Service is always great and I have never had a bad meal. You get nice proportions and food isn't too salty. I have no complaints and I rather go here over Cracker Barrel! Fight me... Lol!! I usually order the pancakes or French toast. The only complaint I do have is the size of the onions they cut with the potatoes they could cut them a little smaller. Lol! I bit into what I thought was a potato and nope.. Actually I was quite impressed! I got the breakfast with the two eggs two pork links biscuit and potatoes. Plus a cup of tea all of that cost around $13. The meal itself was around 899. I was just happy that they had pork link sausage because that's one of my favorite breakfast items. I'm dinging them because nobody seems to be able to get eggs over medium right and the yolks were runny. Service is good it's a bit of a greasy spoon kind of feel. I thought that the tea was a bit overpriced given that it was a generic bag of it. They did provide two packets though. Plenty of parking and lot. I was passing thru La Plata and decided to stop here because of the good reviews. Glad I did! This place does an amazing breakfast! I ordered a full cream chipped beef on a Belgium waffle, 2 eggs, home fries, 2 bacon, and 2 sausages. And, of course, coffee to help it all down. In a word, delicious! IMHO, cream chipped beef should always go on a waffle now. Biscuits and toast don't hit the same anymore. The scrambled eggs were basically perfect with some pepper added in, the home fries were delicious and well-seasoned as well, and the bacon had good crunch. But I was surprised by how good the breakfast sausages tasted. This was not frozen or instant sausages that chain restaurants offer, these were fresh, spicy, and delicious with good snap! Overall, one of the best breakfast meals I've had in quite a while! Of course, I think everyone in the area knows this place is good. It was very crowded when I entered and remained so the entire time. It's decently sized inside so it can accommodate quite a few people, but it still remained packed with people waiting inside and outside. I was excited to finally get to Marie's following all the rave reviews I heard from people and read on Yelp. Ultimately, for me it was a mixed bag. The service was very good. The waitress was attentive and friendly, and in true diner lore I observed them being even more engaging with the regulars. I ordered a corned beef hash omelette and grits. The grits were solid but I was less impressed with the omelette. While I appreciated the significant bang for your buck with a huge omelette worth twice the sticker price on the menu, the meat was perhaps too plentiful and overpowered the eggs - making the dish less balanced than I prefer. The eggs also lacked the "real eggs" consistency and taste I love. It was ok, but when I cannot finish a dish that says a lot - I have a huge appetite after all! I am, however, glad my table mate said they have delicious cakes. When you first walk in there is a display of many wonderful looking cakes, and they do taste as good as they look. I tried a slice of chocolate and a slice of blueberry lemon. They were both succulent delights, making it a darn near certainly that I'll be back to the diner even if only to buy more cake! read more

First time here and definitely won't be our last! We came during the snow storm and called ahead to make sure they were open. Their lot was cleared of the snow and ice, but they were packed with people! We walked into a warm restaurant with lots of smells hitting our noses. We glanced to our right and found a whole case of desserts which looked so appetizing. We got seated almost instantly and had a great waitress named Kim. She knew the 6 paged menu like the back of her hand. We took advantage of some of her favorites, and they didnt disappoint! I ordered the iconic sausage gravy and biscuits. The gravy was definitely homemade and poured generously over the top of the freshly made biscuits. I also got 2 eggs and some scrapple. Today, at Marie's Diner I ordered a carryout I ordered Pastrami and French Fries to go after having a meal. It was taken home to my wife and the Pastrami and French Fries tasted like fish. We called the diner and spoke to the owner where we requested a refund. He indicated the need to bring the food back to him so he could see the problem. I shared with him as a long-time senior customer we were asking for a $12.00+ refund and we live 30 miles away. He indicated that was the policy. Only complaint from me is the flavor of the food is pretty bland. I ordered the country fried steak meal and it had more grease than meat in flavor. The portions will easily fill you up but if there is no noticeable flavor, you may leave feeling somewhat empty. No matter the time of day you stop here, the parking lot will be fairly full, so this is a very popular place to eat but not exactly a place I would regularly visit. The food and service was amazing, the parking lot being packed on a Tuesday morning was justified! The seating is very intimate. They offer booths and tables with chairs. They also have a homemade dessert bar in the front of the restaurant. We went around 11:30am and had a 20 minute wait. We were surprised to see how busy it was on a weekday morning. That being said, expect longer wait times on the weekends. They take your phone number and text you when your table is ready. Our server, Kim, was sweet and attentive. I appreciate her recommending that I order one pancake instead of two since the pancakes are HUGE lol. We ordered two home style breakfast platters. The food came out in about 15 minutes. My boyfriend and I enjoyed our food overall. The pancakes are HUGE lol, they cover the entire plate. I give the pancakes a 7/10 only because I prefer light and fluffy textures and these pancakes were thick. Minus points as well as the eggs could use a little less grease. My favorite were the home fries! They were cooked to perfection and had amazing flavor. We enjoyed our Marie's Diner and definitely will be back! And for only $22, we were even more impressed! This is my 3rd time there and the food is usually good. Today was a bit different. My service was excellent, it was my food that was the problem. My 2 pancakes came out burnt (yes both), my bacon was black on one half, and my eggs were actually crispy to where they cut my mouth. The waitress came back and asked if everything was ok, so we showed her the food. There was no need for any questions because it was obvious the way the food looked. My Aunt was taking me for an early Mother's Day lunch. The place has a waiting list but well worth it. The service was great and food servings were way more than expected. Prices aren't bad at all. I would say that our meals were gifted to us by a Nan and his family that were across from us. The waitress told us that our meals weee paid for and to tell us as we were leaving. We've passed Marie's Diner many times and always found the parking lot full. So decided to stop in a experience Marie's menu. Had a 15-min wait time and you can't wait inside ... you are forced to wait outside. Good this it wasn't raining or 95 degrees. Full menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Lots of options and the prices are fantastically low. Ordered breakfast with large OJ and coffee. The OJ came in a very large glass; 3x bigger than a large in most other restaurants. Coffee was HOT, was a med-dark, and had great flavor. Breakfast took a looooooooong time to come out. But once arrived it was hot, tasty, and some great food. Highly recommended. read more
