It started off a little meh for me as there is only street parking and as I am disabled, the walk was a little hard for me. BUT the service totally made the walk worthwhile. I did pay extra for the eye X-ray thingie but that was so much better than getting my eyes dilated. I'm diabetic as well and I have to get my eyes checked yearly to ensure that my eyes are ok. This was a much easier exam than getting the dilation. Much easier and much safer for me. Then I got taken to the back and the optometrist was great as well. She recommended some things and talked with me about some other issues as well. She also told me that the pores on my eye lids were getting gunky and to start doing warm eye compresses at night and it has been helping. Then the nicest very helpful lady... I wished I had gotten her name... Helped me to find new glasses. She was so helpful in bringing glasses to me and looking up colors for me and just being overall extremely helpful. Normally I'm used to being told, go and look and see what glasses you like... Instead here, she assisted me with everything which was very much appreciated. Overall, the parking sucked but I guess that's LA.... Lol BUT the service was amazing and I think I might've finally found my permanent optometrist!!

My experience was similar as last time. They are not transparent with the fees they charge you until after you swipe your credit card. I booked an appointment over the phone and was told that my eye exam is $30 along with a $75 contacts fitting fee. My insurance covers my eye exam, so I should only be charged $75. This additional retinal exam was not clarified over the phone. If this were to be clear, then I would have opted out because I have no need for this. I was overcharged. I called AND texted to make things right and they come up with excuses that I signed a form that I never did sign and that they did call me. Transparency is this office's biggest weakness. As a patient here, you're simply a paying customer who's only valued for your business versus your overall wellbeing.

The main stand out is Dr. Ferrucci - she is so kind, great at her job, and genuinely seems like she loves giving people the best experience at Toluca Lake Optometric Center. I really enjoyed her energy and awesome attitude. I like the set up of this spot - even when it was a little crowded, it didn't seem overwhelming and small like my last go-to eye spot. The attiudes of the front desk receptionists are really caring and sweet too, which speaks volumes. They seem like they all enjoy working together which is cool energy to be around as well. They have state of the art machines to test your vision and make sure your eyes are in good health condition and when you're asked how you're doing - they seem to authentically care. The reason I am giving them 4 stars is because they don't answer the phone most of the time and they text you letting you know they will call you back and unfortunately they don't. I understand this is because they're busy but you are lead to believe that they will call you back. You will have to call a few times. The second reason I am giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is because I was quoted a different price for my contacts the first time vs the second time. Meaning at the store I was told it would be *this price* and then when I called to pay the next day, I was told it was *this price*. I was also told that shipping would be a less amount of time then quoted so it does seem like there's a messaging mis-alignment but that's okay- will improve over time. Walked in and was greeted by Uri. I think he is the owner of this place. It is a family owned business since 1994. They also fill in prescriptions. The reason for me being there was that I accidentally dropped my glasses and one of the lens came out, and one side of the frame broke. Uri, took a good look at it and said no worries, I will fix this right away and within like less than 15 minutes my lens were popped back in and the side of the frame that was broken was fixed. Even straighten my nose pads and cleaned both lenses. When I was there, there were only 3 other people looking at glasses. It's a standard size shop that sells various glasses by labels, designers, and generic type. They don't do no exams at this place, but do accept most vision insurances. Also, cash and credit cards are accepted. Uri, only charged me $20 dollars for both fixings including the nose pads. I took a good look at the store, and they had vast variety of glasses. Store was clean, with few parking spaces in the back, but I parked on the street. Thank you Uri, and Eyelab. Hopefully I will not drop my glasses any more. Accidents DO happen...

Raymond would have loved to have sold me what he had on display (of course who wouldn't), but when I wasn't finding exactly what I was looking for he reached out to his SoCal Lindberg representative and found he had a frame sample of the right shape and size, and another frame of the right color. They also did the research to determine the color of one could be had on the shape of the other. The trial lenses were uncomfortable, did not fit properly, and made it difficult for me to read. I contacted the office multiple times over a four-week period explaining the problems and asking about the status of my order because nothing had arrived. After weeks of follow-up, I was finally told that the contact lenses had actually been returned to the office two weeks earlier, yet no one contacted me to let me know. At this point, I still do not have the lenses in my possession. I only agreed to pay approximately $39 for the fitting/testing process, yet they are refusing to issue a full refund for lenses I never received. Instead, they offered only a partial refund. The lack of communication, accountability, and customer service was incredibly frustrating. I would strongly encourage others to ask detailed questions about refunds and ordering policies before purchasing contact lenses here. I was also fitted for glasses which my insurance covers $100 and never received them.

My toddler daughter needed glasses and we already had a prescription from her pediatric Ophthalmologist. I was searching for a place closer to home that carried toddler frames, because the recommendations from her pediatric Ophthalmologist at the Dohney eye institute in Pasadena were all in SGV. I called New Vision specifically asking about frames for my 20-month old and after being satisfied with their answers, made an appointment. However, their selection was disappointing and they didn't have the strap-on toddler frames, as I was told on the phone. I went with the only viable option reluctantly because I wanted to get the glasses and didn't want to waste more time. I gave them the prescription (in paper form) and they had trouble with their scanner so told me they'd give it back to me when we picked up the glasses. I asked if my daughter needed to be present, and they said yes. When glasses were ready, they texted me at 3:48 Friday asking me to make an appointment, and said they were closing at 4:15 and reopened on Monday. Had I been notified even a couple hours earlier, I could have rearranged my schedule instead of waiting until Monday. So that was disappointing. Finally when picking them up, my daughter tried them on but they didn't really do anything else so not sure why my daughter needed to be present or why I needed to make an appointment. And they also didn't have the paper prescription that I had been promised. The person giving me the glasses made zero effort and just told me how easy it is to request it again from the ophthalmologist office. I obviously know this. This just underscored to me that things aren't communicated properly about patient requests.
