Found this amazing shop by accident on August 29th. I took a couple of friends from out of state to the Last Bookstore and while walking back to the car, sighted M M Sunglasses. Large inventory, making selection process more challenging than I expected (nice problem to have). We got to the store at 2:30 PM and found ample meter parking on 4th St, 1-2 blocks west of the store (meter accepted credit card). About $1.50 at the meter. The two women staff was very nice and helpful, offering to open cases and show us additional glasses. And while I found a beautiful pair of Persol's... the sales woman suggested a lesser-priced pair of Ray-Bans that I would never have considered on my own. My wife preferred the Ray Bans as well. And, surprisingly, so did I. So, the sales person could have just bagged up the more expensive pair... but instead offered a worthy recommendation. Hope the establishment is around for years to come. Been comin here for years, I say no to $300 plus tax sunglasses, but for $180 or so...fair enough. FYI, there will be a rasta bum patrolling the meters that will hustle you for change. He will stick a paperclip in the meter and give you discounted parking. Basically you give him $2 for what would have been $3 in the meter. I was looking for Serengeti but they don't have it. Other than that, they have almost all the good brands like Ray Ban, Versace, Prada, Burberry, etc. The other reviews are right. If you pay by cash, they won't tax you... which is great and saves you a lot. One thing though, they don't give opinions on how the shades look on you. If you don't want to spend department store prices for mid to high end designer sunglasses, this is the spot. Its located on the corner of 4th and Los Angeles St. in Downtown LA. The store is visible by looking for a red awning that has prints of different name brands of sunglasses (ie: Rayban). If you know this part of downtown, the area isn't the fanciest of places. However places like these are where you get the great deals. I can tell you that several of my friends including myself have purchased sunglasses here and you will save anywhere between 20-30%. I've compared the prices online and in department stores and the savings are real. The store is very small and narrow inside. Its operated by a mother and son (I think) and they may not have the greatest of attitudes but who cares? Get in, get out, save money. They have almost every major sunglass brand so you'll have a lot of variety to choose from. Are they fake? I don't think so...I mean they seem to be doing well and I would assume that word would get around and the place would get shut down. I even went inside some of the other sunglass stores in that area and they all pointed to M M Inc. for high end, name brand sunglasses. Good luck finding street parking! read more
