Thursday May 29, 2025 I was at Kahala Mall and I decided to walk into LensCrafters as I needed to make new glasses every year or every other year. It was slow. So, I picked out 3 frames 53, 55 and 57 x 17. 53 was a little small, 55 was good, I liked 57 the clear Oakley with green logo. With the lenses curved a lot and my high prescription that it wouldn't work out said, Lance. I ended up with the 55 which was my 2nd choice same shape frame just gun metal gray. I always chose gun metal gray or pewter which is shiny gray? lol. The one I had all this time was a 51x17. Too small for my face all these years. Lol. That was from Walmart Optical. The sales guy said, it fit perfect. I was dumb to believe him back then. OH, MY! SMH! It's in the past. Move forward. I love my new glasses! If I need a new pair in the future. I will be back. I live right up the street. So, convenient. Dr. Kathy Iida is nice, friendly and very caring. We had such a great experience at this Lens Crafters, which seems better and more responsive than any Lens Crafters location that I've ever been to anywhere else in the U.S. We initially came in to get my daughter's glasses adjusted. We don't live here (we're just on vacation) and in spite of not having any business reason to help us, Alexa W volunteered to do a free adjustment for my daughter. Then, while we were looking around, we found a pair of sunglasses that my daughter liked, so we ended up being customers after all. It just goes to show that great customer service as exhibited by Alexa can ultimately lead to a sale anyway. She even helped us save 30% by letting us know about the AAA discount. I've been coming here for a few years for my early eye exams and it's always been a super great experience. Dr. Iida is seriously the best eye doctor I've ever had and you can tell she really cares about what she does. They never say that the Meta Ray bands cannot be adjusted. I went in today and waited 15 minutes only to be told these $400. Glasses cannot be adjusted! I ordered my prescription glasses in there and I brought my own glass ...it's from sunglasses turn into prescription glasses...the person that helped told me yes it can be used but at times he told me or not recommended ...if you used that sunglasses quite often way beforehand...it won't be feasible to do it that way because the spare parts such as the hinges of the sunglasses loses its durability..which is makes sense at all . I went to the Kahala Mall Lens Crafters and found a pair of glasses I liked. Eric was the representative who assisted me and when I was ready to pay, he asked if my insurance would cover the cost. In the past, the insurance I used to have did not cover the cost of glasses. So when I changed insurance, I assumed it remained the same, therefore I told Eric I didn't think the glasses were covered. Instead of leaving it at that, he looked up my coverage in my records. I was surprised he discovered both the frame and lenses were indeed covered. Had he not checked, I would not have known! Also, when I was about to get my eye exam for my new prescription, he corrected me because I thought my insurance was one the optometrist did not accept. He saved me again! Where I was careless about the specifics of my insurance coverage, Eric made the extra effort to double check information to help me out. I certainly appreciated his personal and exceptional service! 4 stars only because of the pricing! But they were a life saver! I needed to come here on a whim after my car was broken into and they stole my glasses I need to drive and work with! There was hardly any places nearby that didn't have a quick turnaround period other than 7 days and my usual Paris Miki - which I know does in house glasses their machine was not working either and they would have to also send out their orders. I came here since they could do it within the same day and in an hour. I got an associate pretty quickly and explained my situation (well I had two really) and asked if any of my old frames could be used to do a same day order. He was able to do one of the two which was great! I also mentioned my insurance dilemma with my previous claim that was claimed months after which is why my information was blocked. I told him that I needed it right away and I don't mind paying full price for it. He ended up giving me a discount, but with taxes it was still under $300 for just the lens. Anyway, it was done pretty quickly and I walked around the mall while I waited, so the wait time was not long at all. One of the worst experiences trying to buy glasses. Walked in and said I needed multiple pairs of glasses and have insurance and credit card ready. I asked about a couple brands they had and they were sitting on their chair and said maybe over there. Neither of the ladies wanted to help me or even got out the chair to show me a single frame. By far the worst experience. Bought two pairs of glasses and was told that I would get two texts but to call the store if one text comes because sometimes both pairs of glasses will come. Received one text and called the store. Spoke to a guy name ERIC and he seriously was the rudest when I called. Said if I didn't get two texts they weren't here and hung up. That very same day I got my second text. Drove to the store and was told by Eric that there's only one pair of glasses at the store and then questioned if i really got a second text. Only one pair was there EVEN THOUGH HE SAID IF I GET TWO TEXTS BOTH WOULD BE THERE. And get this. HE SENT THE SECOND TEXT! As for his rudeness on the phone call all he could say was that he was busy. Well then don't answer the phone next time. All he did was give false information, admitted to sending the second text to me, said sorry about being rude cause he was busy. But all he seriously did was waste my time and gas! Tina the manager was about to fit me for the glasses that was there since I drove all the way to the store only to find out that they didn't install the nose pads that was ordered with the glasses. I've been a repeat customer at this location for about three years. I recently bought a pair of glasses and had the lenses upgraded to the max. Unfortunately, in less than six months the lenses had some irreparable damage to them even when I was following proper care. I didn't have insurance on them but thought to take them into the store to see what could be done. I was helped by Alexa and we were able to come up with a solution to replace the lenses. Needed my annual refresh of my glasses prescription, My old provider was no longer in my network, so I checked with my vision plan for providers in the network. Turns out Lenscrafters in Kahala was an available provider. I called them at first to see if they take appointments. They didn't, everything was on a walk in basis. I moseyed on down near dinnertime on a weekend day. After taking my insurance information down, the counter person quickly set up my appointment with the optometrist. The exam was thorough and quick! Next step was to look around the shop for a new frame. Lenscrafters didn't have some of my preferred brands, but I soon found one that I liked. After fitting and selecting my options, with my vision insurance it turns out my pair of glasses were cheaper here than at the Veteran's Administration! Well played, Lenscrafters! Although they cautioned me that the glasses order will take up to two+ weeks, I got a call in less than a week that they were in. After a final fitting, I walked out the store a happy camper! When I was a kid growing up, all I wished for were braces. Somehow the tooth fairy liked me a little too much bc I got straight teeth (for the most part) and eyeglass instead (as a kid I thought: sad panda face) lol. Well, avoiding glasses is never a good thing but I was able to until I transitioned into high school when I finally really needed them. It was then I realized how good glasses are! I no longer had to sit at the very front of class! My second story is that I'm half Chinese. And what does that mean? Well, Chinese people including myself, like to be frugal in everything they buy, to find a good deal at an affordable price. Even though my Korean dad did tell me that sometimes one just has to pay a premium for the good stuff, just be sure to choose wisely, my Chinese mom's side reminds me that money is still money! Yeeks to internal struggle! :P So what do these two things have to do with this place? Now comes the hard part. 1) When I have to buy something that I really need to use, say for instance, to see sporting events like UH (University of Hawaii) football baseball and volleyball games, church services, weddings, movies, and for seeing meeting and class presentations, working on the computer, being in the sun, and driving anywhere, then I'd want it to be an affordable solution. 2) Having to rely on some long-term solution fix is all fine and dandy but real caveat is I'll need a pair of that great invention for literally every. single. situation. sufficient for all of the different activities I do throughout the day every day! Eeks Why "eeks!"? Historically it is a known fact that glasses can be quite expensive but I don't want to have to shell out $300-500 for every single pair! How many glasses would I need? Pulling out my trusty fingers, that would be: (Pointer finger - 1) 1 pair sunglass (Middle finger - 2) 1 reading (Ring finger - 3) 1 distance (difficult to watch football live at the field thru the bifocals :P) (Pinky finger - 4) 1 bifocal (to see car controls whilst driving) (Thumb - 5) 1 computer. That's...5 pairs! 5 pairs at $300 or even $500 brings about the scary thought of having to pay $1,500 to $2,500 total. Yikes!!! Okay so 3) Even though I do have "good" insurance (not 100%) coverage, the coverage would be for ONE pair. So...question would be: Which 1 shall I choose?! Better question is: Does it really need to cost that much?! Well, if you come here and need as many glasses as I do? YEP, it will :( Yowza + Ouch = Yowch ! (See why I wanted braces?!) PROFESSIONAL SERVICE - All kidding and self-teasing aside (just givin' you my truest, most honest feelings), when you are in need of assistance for your glasses, you will get great service. The people here are nice enough to help you out with whatever you need. They are efficient and will take your order by helping you find the right pair of frames that best matches your face shape, skin coloring, and eyeball adjustments. However, while they can also help you file your eye glass and lenses insurance reimbursement forms, what they cannot help you with are price adjustments. This is why customer service without affordable price is difficult to weigh. If you have a product with great service but product is complicated (breaks a lot) or too high cost, great customer service probably can't..give you what you need. AS FOR THE 2 PAIRS I PURCHASED HERE: Both are Ray Bans and bifocals. One I absolutely love; the other I absolutely hate. Love - frames are matte black, extremely sturdy and solid, and despite initial challenges with the stiff vertical nose pad wires and my Asian nose, David adjusted them to sit on my bridge quite well. Hate - The antireflective coating is peeling off at top of the lenses; the enamel is flaking off the frame front; and the fit is awkward and somehow the most uncomfortable frames I've ever owned. (Ugh, they torment me daily.) LOCATED at Kahala Mall across Consolidated Theaters and Kuru Kuru on the Whole Foods side of the mall. CHECK-IN PROCESS when you first get there is at the desk at front. Tell them what you need when they ask - there may be a wait - and they will take you when they are free. THEY STOCK TONS of frames (and even carry contacts) but carry a limited number of brands. At first glance, their frame styles are similar with a lot of black but are actually different shades shapes & even eye sizes (the measurement for head width). Women's and kid's frames are along the left-side wall; men's frames are on the right wall. WHAT ABOUT.. As for the other 3 pairs of eye glasses that I also need, I replaced lenses in 1 current frame and made 2 additional purchases at Costco Optical, and although they were not dirt cheap, they were significantly more competitively and affordably priced. read more

Lance, eyewear technician, provided incredible customer service!! My glasses eye pad fell off and I took it here for replacement since I was in the area. I didn't realize it was a custom size (Tom Ford) that they don't carry it. Instead of using that as a reason to just say "sorry no can do" he actually spent time to figure ways to craft a nose pad. I had to leave for another meeting, but when I returned he had successful recut one of their nose pad sizes to fit into my glasses nose pad area. I was more shocked when he said it was a free service they offer!! Seriously you rarely come across people who try so hard to do something for free, (unfortunately). I was looking for a new eye doctor for my daughter since we had been going to Aina Haina Eye Center but Dr. Joyce Cassen retired and did not like her replacement. Costco appointments were a month out & my daughter is just home for the summer before going back to school in NYC. OMG, why didn't i think of this place sooner! Exceptional customer service and quick turnaround! Been coming here for the past three years after I had to start wearing glasses for night driving. In the last month I've dropped two pairs, popping the glasses out of the frames. Since I didn't want to duct tape it together like one of my "Macguyver" coworkers, I came in to LensCrafters and problem solved. The one hour lab is a great feature and if they're done early they give you a call. Prices for the frames and lenses are best purchased during promotions as they carry high end brands. On the plus side, they will accept vision plans so make sure you bring in your insurance card. Thankful I got my glasses back in time before I have to drive tonight!! read more

While I usually wear contacts, I was looking for glasses to wear when working on the computer. This was mainly to help filter out the glare from the computer monitor. While I was walking arpund Kahala Mall, I decided to check put LensCrafters. The first thing I noticed was that they have a large variety of glasses to choose from; they have the name brand (i.e. Tiffany, Oakley) to the value brands, so you have a lot of choices and you can find frames that fit your budget. The second thing I noticed was that the employees were good about being available to help, but not overcrowding you (like a micromanager that is always looking over your shoulder). I found the perfect frames for me, but I didn't have my prescription on me. I had to come back later. The sales associate was very informative and told me about the process to order glasses, including the fact that they would need to run my insurance by a certain time in order for them to apply my insurance to the frames. When I was going to purchase the glasses, I realized that I was cutting it close to that time but it would take at least 20 min to get to the store, so I called ahead and they were able to run my insurance based on phone call. When I got to the store, the transaction was ready to go and I just needed to provide the prescription and payment. There was a great deal on the glasses and I would be able to get my glasses within an hour. Score! read more

You know that feeling you get when you realize you're without your favorite sunglasses? That pit in your stomach realizing the drive you've just embarked on will no doubt be filled with blinding glares and feelings of self doubt with visual road cues? Pure frustration and annoyance. My ol faithful Tom Ford sunglasses were deemed unreliable when one of the nose pads fell off unexpectedly a few fateful weeks ago. They were sidelined from about Thanksgiving til a few days post New Years. With the full intent of jump starting 2021 with productivity, I started my first working day of the year, Monday, January 4 by getting these sunnies repaired! After calling around (with the help of my handy-dandy Yelp app) to gather my best options, I gave LensCrafters at Kahala Mall a call. Now, the associate who answered the phone was upfront and told me that the Tom Ford brand was not carried at their location. In other words, parts for any repair would be limited, so my best bet was to head straight to their Ala Moana location to get them back in working order. Before heading to Ala Moana, I ended up having a few small errands at Kahala Mall, and thought, "what the heck?" and just stop in to see if the repair could be done. Upon entering the double glass doors, I noticed the sales associate was with another guest, but I was lucky enough to meet eyes with another fellow in the back, behind the in-store workshop window glass. He came out and asked what I was looking for and I filled him in on my Tom Ford sunny situation. He graciously took my precious glasses and quickly started working on removing the remaining nose pad and replacing them with identical pad arms and nose pads. I took my grandma here to get new prescription glasses. Everything is very well organized with name brand glasses. Though, the Men's section seems to be dominantly limited to two specific brands. The staff here are very friendly and courteous, but I need to give a big shout out to the good doctor. Dr. Kathy Iida is the most friendly, caring, patient, positive, bright, upbeat doctor I've ever met. Perhaps, person I've ever met. If you're having the worst day ever, she'd definitely put you in a better mood. Her eye exam was very thorough and her diagnosis was detailed and informative.
