Staff member Mary, truly a nice person gradually turned to me to say that there was no need for a charge for the repair.

Monday Oct. 12th I called to alert the Doctor that I had that experience over the weekend but was not able to reach anyone after several attempts. Tuesday I called and they scheduled me in the next day. I asked if there would be a charged and was placed on a brief hold. Upon the return to our conversation I was told " No charge as it is part of the post-op follow up, but if further testing needs to be done they will contact the Lions Club for authorization". After completion of the exam I was then told I will be required to pay contrary to the initial answer I received. I will contact the Lions Club ( of which I am a previous member as was my father) and suggest perhaps they should no longer recommend Lakeland Eye Clinic. The initial procedure was adequate but the follow-up communication was most poor. My cataract surgery was done by St.Lukes prior to moving to Lakeland.

The staff and MD's are excellent caregivers. However, I have a BIG problem with the Lakeland Hills…read morelocation. Parking is HORRIBLE! Handicapped parking is grossly inadequate. Said parking is too far from front door across a parking lot covered in crumbling asphalt. Also now their courtesy transport cart is broken/missing. My 90yo mom uses a rolling walker and almost fell twice going in and once coming out. I also use a rolling walker and had great difficulty navigating the parking lot. I complained to someone who said they were an assistant manager. While sitting in the waiting area c several other elderly/ handicapped patients came in complaining about the missing courtesy transport cart. This clinic location is not providing adequate, safe access to its handicapped customers. I am investigating going to another practice because this is ridiculous. I am also going to complain to my insurance provider because allowing a practice to treat patients like this is ridiculous.

She could cash you out because she didn't know how to. Went to get someone and they were busy while others on lunch. Not enough people. Lady before me was there for over 2 hours and had to leave like myself. So she rescheduled. Paid ^9 for finally someone was ready to see me after almost 2 hours then tried to tell me to pay for mopre and more and more. Bait n switch is an understatement. I am going back to my old eye doctor because I thought why not try someone new less than 2 minutes form my job instead of driving almost 1 hour and 1/2 to my dr. office I have had for more than 20 years. Well that was a mistake. So, I asked for the corporate number, finally got through for the man to tell me the store manager will call me back because she is busy in the store, so I asked can I be connect to DM or email or something and all the CS rep was able to give me was their name nothing more. SO, now I paid 69 wasted bucks for NOTHING but misery. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THEM!!! I was stupid for even trying someone new.

My wife went in for and eye exam and ordered expensive new lenses using frames that had been…read morepurchased there prior. Weeks go by and no call as to the status of the glasses so we go by to inquire. The woman at the desk said they were very busy and handed the case with the glasses and told to "take them home and try them on." This is not the usual procedure because if something is wrong we would have to return to the store. Upon opening the case we discover one of the temples on the frame was broken off. The woman then says "you can order new frames at a discount." When my wife protests and says that is unacceptable the woman further says that "you signed a document when she placed the order that states they are not responsible for any damage." We feel, the fact they sat on these glasses for weeks without any communication and then tell us to "try them on at home" when picked up, was a blatant attempt to cover up their mistake as they could've claimed they were broken after we took them home. They had to know they were broken when they handed them to her and never mentioned they were obviously damaged furthering the attempted coverup. Our family has been patronizing this location for years for both exams and glasses and find this behavior reprehensible. We request that they either repair the frames that they obviously broke or replace them with a similar one at not cost. 12/02/20 update: Received a call from their corporate office last week. The representative apologized and instructed my wife to return to the office and receive a replacement pair of frames at no cost. That's how customer service is supposed to work. Thank you for following up and rectifying the situation.

My original appointment was already unpleasant because the staff were rude and condescending, which…read moreis why I decided I would never return. Unfortunately, my recent experience trying to obtain my own contact-lens prescription confirmed that decision. I called only to learn the brand and prescription information for the contacts I previously wore. After verifying my identity and account information, the employee refused to provide it over the phone and said I had to register for their patient portal. I explained that I intentionally do not use their portal and requested the prescription by email instead. The manager then became argumentative, insisted I was wrong, and claimed HIPAA requires the email to be encrypted. That is not accurate. HHS explicitly states that patients may request their health information by unencrypted email after being warned of and accepting the security risk. The FTC also states that an eye-care provider cannot use HIPAA as a barrier to electronically providing a prescription. I would have gladly verified my identity, signed a request, or acknowledged the risks of ordinary email. Instead, management spoke to me condescendingly, gave me inaccurate information about my legal rights, and attempted to force me into a portal I never agreed to use. I will not return and will be filing complaints with the appropriate agencies regarding access to my prescription.
