I have 2 different insurance and were happy to assist to get me the best deal available with the combination of the insurances. I appreciated the effort. I'm very disappointed with my entire experience at your store. After walking a considerable distance to visit, I expected to be greeted and treated with basic respect. Instead, the moment I walked in, I was met with unfriendly stares and not a single greeting. What made it worse was a security guard approaching me--not to welcome or assist me--but to inform me that I couldn't browse freely and would need to ask staff to place items on a table for me. This made me feel unwelcome and unfairly targeted. I refuse to spend my hard-earned money at a place that treats potential customers this way. I had an eye exam and bought a pair of frames at LensCrafters on 3rd Ave. & 81st St. in May of this year. The arm on the frame of my reading glasses broke and I went over to have them repaired. I was told they only guarantee their frames for 30 days . Not only this, but they will charge my insurance once again for a new pair and then asked me to pay $51.40 for a new replacement frame. Today was the second time in my life I had eyeglass issues and a LensCrafters came to my rescue. Today was my first visit to this location which is about a mile from home. I was greeted when I entered. The location was very clean and the welcoming employee made me feel comfortable. I gave the nice young lady a brief explanation of my problem and my solution. My glasses broke and I had another exact same pair. I just needed to switch the lenses to the black frames. She said they would be able to do that if I didn't mind waiting for a few minutes. Since it's hot and humid weather I was happy to relax in their Air Conditioning in a comfortable seat. I asked her what the charge would be. She said nothing. I can afford that and was elated. In about five minutes or less a man came out from the back. The nice lady gave him my glasses and explained everything. I was glad I didn't have to repeat myself. After he switched the lenses he made sure the glasses fit comfortable. I asked their price for exam and glasses. He was very knowledgeable. I left with a good idea of what to expect and how to proceed with the tri or bi focal purchase. I wasn't pressured to make an appointment or purchase anything. Today was a great experience. I'm not a review person but had to do this one for my 10//8/24 visit Typical chain/franchise I did the right thing and filled out THE DAY BEFORE the insurance paperwork to make my appointment seemless. I got there TWENTY mins early as well. I was told the optometrist will be with you shortly but they were "having difficulty finding my insurance information" I've had my insurance and use it every year with for the last 10 years with ZERO problems. Anyway at 11:05 (25 mins later) as I'm watching them take other patients into the back the young worker is STILL trying to find me in system even though they have HAD ALL MY INFO for 24hrs. Question: why would you wait for a patient who has a legitimate appointment and who comes in a half hour before his time To look up The information and not have it ready to go? I FILLED OUT your paperwork the DAY before!! It's a shame LensCrafters does not have a personal touch and could care less about a customers time . Thankfully, I got there a half hour before my appointment even though they wasted my time it would've been a lot longer had showed up there at 11 o'clock on the dot. This office and its doctors are horrible. They repeatedly gave me glasses I couldn't see out of. They had me retest my vision and the doctors each gave me a different prescription. Now, I can't see with the contact prescription provided and they won't respond to my formal requests for assistance. It's beyond frustrating, as we need our sight. Not only are they terrible at what they do, but then they don't respond to patients who just want to see! Corporate isn't any better. read more

My contact lens fitting appointment went seamless and I had no problems with customer service at that time. And so months after, when one of my contact lens (left side) was defective, I gave Lens Crafters a call to ask for them to replace that one lens. Customer service was not helpful at all. All she said: "call the manufacturer". I have been to other optometrist clinics where they would gladly replace the lens with one of their samples-no questions asked. Bad customer service. Expensive for no reason. $60 charge for "eye exam with contact lenses" on top of regular "eye exam" price. Dilated my eyes with no notification before the appointment - good thing I did not drive there - because I wouldn't pay $40 for images to be taken instead. Very unaccommodating and totally unsympathetic. Ruined the plans I had for the rest of my day and cost way more than I was expecting. Have had decent experiences with LensCrafters before, but definitely won't go back to this location, and likely not any LensCrafters location. read more

They took several weeks to get a refund back. VERY BAD BUSINESS PRACTICE. Quite possibly the worst customer service. They refuse to honor recent eye exams if the exam comes from a different state (ie: refusing to even change the BRAND, not the prescription). Will not give trials except minimal amount. Linda, the head manager associate, is absolutely the worst. Rude, can only speak from a script, and cannot assist at all. Ok-I am being annoying, but wanted to give one more update: LC has been extremely patient with me. The other day, I took in my glasses because I thought there was a scratch on them. Turns out it was ok-:) Today I went in to get them adjusted as they were painful (too tight). The nice gentleman who helped me adjusted them, but now they are too loose! He said to return tomorrow if I need to after giving them a try. Looks like I will have to take him up on his offer, because they are waaaay too loose! Hopefully it will be the last time the folks see me, as I do not want to be an annoyance, but on the other hand i need these beautiful new glasses to fit just right! Not too tight and not too loose! 2015 experience: Came in for eye exam, staff member submitted my insurance improperly and I lost all of my vision benefits for 2015 since my insurance claimed "they didn't do refunds." Had to pay everything out of pocket. 2016 experience: Rude staff member who didn't even look like they knew how to use the equipment repeatedly messed up my preliminary exam and had to do it 6 times until my eyes were tearing like crazy. Doctor gave me the wrong prescription, so after paying for 1 year of contacts I had to throw all of them away due to the headaches. 2017 experience: Doctor insists prescription giving me migraines is correct and keeps pushing me on it. She gives me a new prescription she claims is less strong. I give it to 1-800 contacts and it is apparently not even a contact lens prescription (it's for glasses) and on top of that, it is even stronger than the previous one that was giving me migraines. Asked them to send the right prescription to 1800 contacts. 1-800 contacts calls me saying the doctor refuses. I call back, they say they'll email me the correct one and surprise surprise, it's not here. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me three times, shame on me. I have again wasted nearly $200 for incorrect/invalid prescriptions that I cannot even use. There's no point in going here anymore. read more

I have been to every single eyeglass place on the upper Eastside (and middle east side and much of the upper West side.) This Lens Crafters is the best hands down. Their biggest problem? They're so good, they're busy and sometimes you have to wait a little. The salesperson in the front, Natella, is terrific. I've had six or more interactions with her and she's always been great. My kids and I saw two doctors- both very intelligent, very helpful and taught us things we didn't know. They actually uncovered a problem I have and now I can take care of it so I'm grateful too. They take my Eyemed insurance and they have the best selection of lightweight, fashion frames I have seen anywhere. I like the hinged-arms and wireless rims. They have so many to choose from! I have walked in and out of Warby Parker three or four or times. I don't know what everyone is raving about.They're clueless and their selection is so lame! Go here. No worries read more

Initially I came here to get glasses, I came in they were four people sitting at the desk nobody helped me I asked about a pair of glasses I was looking for and in a price range they steered me towards the glasses that were $200 plus. Eventually I was able to find a pair that was within my range in adequate for what the purpose I needed glasses for. Then they proceeded to give me a hard time about my insurance and told me that only certain things were covered and I know that more things were covered then not because I had just spoken to them about it. Ultimately I was right, I found a pair of adequate Glasses that were semi-OK for the purpose of what I wear them for. To follow up for a post ordering my glasses to pick them up. I came into the store to pick up my glasses, first they could not find them even though they had called me almost a week ago that they were ready. Finally they found them and they handed to them To me and asked me if they fit well. For the purpose that I'm using them for they fit fine. The woman mumbled something about after Sunday I would be charged if I needed them adjusted, she didn't really say anything else give me a receipt any paperwork to sign didn't even ask me if I was the person who I said I was talk about a lack of accountability. I took the glasses and left. I would never come back to this location I didn't think the staff was that accountable and really wanted to help and make a sale they kind of just sat back in the back talking and hanging out chitchatting. I'm not sure if they work off of commission or they just get paid minimum-wage.Clearly they did not want to help me and I was there for over 45 minutes. read more

Finally decided to make an appointment online. I arrived on time and filled out paperwork. Then waited another 20 minutes. In situations like this, I say to myself, ok, if they haven't taken my be x and such time, I'm leaving. That time came and went. Honestly, I can't understand the good reviews here. I've lived on the Upper East Side for over 20 years and that's just not what I'm used to. Left the store and walked 2 blocks down the street to Cohen Optical. Without an appointment, I was able to get an eye exam almost immediately. I got great new contacts that really made a difference. Everybody there was nice and friendly--it felt like a neighborhood establishment, not a big company. Nothing against Lenscrafters. I'm sure some of the locations are good. I went to this location a little over a year ago for an eye exam, got the prescription, that was that. Mind you, the prescription was highly ineffective and I had to get new lenses a couple of months later, and that doctor couldn't believe the prescription I was given from this place. But I let that go. Fast forward to now, my phone's been BLOWING UP from this place for the past month. I don't answer my phone at work, so it's all gone to voicemail. Basically their marketing strategy includes calling customers who had an exam 1 year ago, and lying to them, telling them they "have their annual follow-up exam scheduled" and that they need to call if they want to to "cancel it". The appointment was never made, you never agreed to this, they just hope you don't question their BS, show up, and pay them again. This is the worst, most annoying way *anyone* has ever tried to get my business. I ignored the initial voicemails, and the "appointment" came and went. Calls and voicemails have continued to pour in since, still pressing me to make another "follow-up appointment". I finally answered the phone yesterday and told the nice girl to stop calling me, and she agreed. Guys, STOP harassing your previous customers. After having a terrible experience at my local eyeglass shop (Shades of Vision), I decided to take my mom to LensCrafters, hoping for much better service. We weren't disappointed. We were a few minutes late to the eye exam appointment, but we didn't have to wait long at all. The sales associate who assisted us (I forgot his name) let us know that they don't accept my mom's insurance before we proceeded, just so that we were aware. My mom said that the eye exam was pretty thorough & she was satisfied. They have a pretty nice selection of frames, although not as expansive as other locations, but my mom had plenty of styles to choose from. Once she settled on her frames, the process to finalize was pretty quick. The only reason I'm docking a star is because it was still pretty expensive, even after applying the discount we had. Dr. Amy Seon (sp?) is just as nice, patient, and professional as Dr. Patel. As usual, the staff is a pleasure to work with, and Jennifer in particular was a great help. She struck the right tone with my daughter, giving her honest feedback about frames she was considering and then offering another half dozen that were in the ballpark. Then--kaching!--she handed her the perfect frames. One staff member quickly fixed a minor problem with her old glasses, and another remembered us from a previous visit. I know Lenscrafters is a large company, but it feels like a mom-and-pop store. A mom-and-pop store that sells designer goods. A little pricy, but there's a major discount for kids, and there are sales all the time. Not to offer medical advice, but if they want to dilate your eyes, ask if you can have an alternate test, which takes a picture of your eyes' insides without the hours of blurry vision afterward. Definitely worth the extra $30 (or so), and the doctors will show you the pictures and tell you what they show. UPDATE: The alternate test is called OptoMap, and it's $39. But there's a 25% out-of-network discount. Same discount applies to the exam. read more

My initial consultation and eye exam could not have been any more pleasant. Dr. Patel and her assistants (Kiera and ?) were friendly, down-to-earth and super professional. Doctor Patel was thorough and even took time to show and explain the graphics of my inner eye photos which was really cool. She was just as nice as could be. She was also younger, so I hope time and exposure to bonehead clients over the years doesn't wear on her... The assistant was honest with me in recommending frames and suggested I get the LESS expensive pair! Which - I agreed, did look better. I had an amazing experience! I went in for an eye exam, contact fitting and glasses. I was seen by Dr. Tran. She was super professional, made me feel comfortable and answered all my questions. She even gave me a recommendation for an eye specialists. I felt no pressure from the staff to purchase glasses or put in an order for contacts. Everyone was very helpful. Unfortunately I didn't find a pair of frames that I loved but the girl that was helping me told me not to worry about it to come back when they receive a new shipment. I'm an honest reviewer, I have nothing to gain from sharing my truth with this location. 1. Upon trying to order more contact lenses, I'm told my prescription is expired, by 15 days. Foolish. 2. The office misplaced my file, had no record of my prescription from one year ago. 3. The technician mislead me (literally) into believe I needed to either dilate my eyes (which means blurry eyes for 4 hours) or pay $75 out of pocket to use the 3D retina machine to get a full eye scan. When I said I didn't recall having to do this or have this be required, she just asked again. Only later at the front when I asked if this was optional, did she say YES. Thankfully she removed the fee. 4. The doctor was deplorable. I explained the discomfort I was experiencing with my current contact lenses and she proposed trying different pairs. After running a full exam, she gave me a trial pair and when I explained that they were uncomfortable, blurry and not settling in my eyes, she gave me an attitude as if I had insulted her.
