I was looking for a pair of glasses and have routinely used Lens Crafters. I had heard styles and selections vary by store and since I was in the area thought I would see what this store had to offer. The glasses are nicely displayed and they were organized by brand. When I walked in I immediately was greeted and asked what I needed. I shared I was browsing and was allowed time to browse with no pressure. The only reason I'm giving two stars is because I truly liked Dr. Ashley Plotkin. It's very clear that she cares about her patients and takes her time during the exam. Unfortunately, my experience with the front staff was extremely disappointing. While I was looking at glasses, one of the employees answered a phone call from someone trying to schedule eye exams for herself and three others. She repeated the request out loud for Leo, who immediately shook his head and made an audible sound of annoyance. The employee on the phone also seemed irritated. It was uncomfortable to witness. As a customer, it's confusing to see staff react negatively to someone trying to schedule multiple appointments. While I was browsing, I already had a good idea of what I wanted. Leo told me to "look around and have fun" and to let him know if I wanted his opinion. A few minutes later, while I was trying on a pair of Dolce & Gabbana glasses, he approached me and said, "Oh no, those don't work." I hadn't asked for his opinion, and I actually liked them until that comment. It felt unnecessary and dismissive. I finally decided on a pair of Gucci glasses. When he rang me up, the total after insurance was nearly $700. I told him there was no way I would pay that much for glasses I rarely wear. He appeared visibly upset and slammed a cabinet before returning to the register to hand me my receipt. That reaction was unprofessional and uncomfortable. I was also told that a retinal scan would not be covered by my insurance. I have EyeMed, and this location is in-network, so the scan would have been covered. Additionally, as I mentioned at the time, I felt the pricing I was given was incorrect. I later ordered the same glasses--with comparable add-ons--for less than $225 after insurance. Given the significant difference, it left me questioning whether I was initially being steered toward higher-priced options to increase commission rather than being given transparent and accurate information. She was warm, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, checking our insurance and giving us fair prices. She was a sweetheart of a salesperson. Very pleased. I ordered a pair of lenses (my own frame) on August 22 and was told two weeks for them to be finished. I was an optician for 20 years and it never took two weeks. Today, September 9, (two and a half weeks later) I received a voicemail saying it would be September 19 before they were ready. WTAF? That's a full month. I'd recommend VisionWorks. Was in recently after booking an exam online. I showed up, gave insurance info., then waited for a few minutes until the Dr. was ready to start my exam. Had a great exam, felt it was very thorough and all ?'s answered... Walk out and am told by Gina my insurance did not go through. WTH? Why would you send me in if you had not already verified my insurance?? Now I'm out $60 (Turns out my company sent incorrect data and insurance carrier had my SS# wrong). A few days later, I got email survey... and I informed them of my dissatisfaction. A few days later... Gina got my feedback and left me a VM. Uh, it's not our fault we didn't verify your insurance before your exam. WTF Gina? You're some kind of special, aren't you. Moral of the story: If Gina had done her job and verified my insurance before my exam, I wouldn't be writing this negative review... not to mention kept me as a LensCrafters customer. I had the most pleasant experience at LensCrafters on Friday, January 6th. One of the screws had come out of my eyeglass arm and it needed to be repaired. When I walked into the Deer Park LensCrafters store, I was greeted promptly by Shawn. I explained the problem and he told me he would repair my glasses right away. He was true to his word (the repair took less than five minutes) and he would not accept any payment. I appreciated his kindness, especially since I hadn't purchased my eyeglasses from LensCrafters. read more

Manager Gina was quite unhelpful and went out of her way to make sure that other LensCrafters wouldn't help me. I ordered contact lenses online through LensCrafters and while waiting for them to arrive I asked if they would provide some trials (never been an issue in the two years that I have been with them) and she gave me a bad attitude, gave me multiple excuses as to the reasons it wasn't possible. I told her that I suffer from headaches and it would be triggered by going days without contacts and she couldn't care less. I think she saw that I received my latest eye exam from a different LensCrafters location and decided not to help me. She them put warning remarks on my customer account telling other LensCrafters locations not to help me out with trial contact lenses in the future. She is an embarrassment to LensCrafters and should not be the manager. If you are looking for decent friendly customer service that isn't milking you with hidden fees and up-charges, think twice before going to this LensCrafters. read more

So, just walked into Lens Crafters in Deer Park, just wanted to replace old scratched lenses in my prescription sun glasses that I bought from them... she told me unless I had the current written prescription she wouldn't help me. Didn't ask me my name and had no interest in looking me up in their system... Been buying glasses and contacts for the last 15 years from Lens Crafters for myself and my 3 Daughters, talking well over $10k... The Woodfield store where i typically go has SO MUCH better customer service. Oh well, on my way to Pearl vision, hoping they may want my $$$. read more

Most of the workers are great and very helpful. However, one of them gave me a lot of attitude and was frankly just rude to me. I ended up having to go there two days in a row and this worker was there both times, and both times she gave me the same bad attitude and rudeness. She pretty much laughed in my face by me just asking her simple questions. I felt very unwelcome and awkward because of her. read more

Had an eye doctor appointment here today. I've been going to this place for years and they do a very nice job. Great customer service and awesome selection of glasses! The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because they were really trying hard to get me to spend extra on my already expensive checkup ($128) by paying extra for dilation. I understand the importance of making sure I don't have eye cancer or anything. But when I say I don't want the test once, I expect to be left alone. They're not used car salesmen! Save your time and money with online ordering from these liars. Recorded customer service lines will flat out lie and say you never spoke with them when YOUR LINES ARE RECORDED....... Customer service waits till last minute to tell you your doctor hasn't sent in your prescription and gives you NO WAY to provide yourself if you are able to obtain it over the phone with them or on your account. Was told by your customer service rep to text it and email it and "IT WILL NOT BE CANCELED" and I did both. Then they cancel it the day before they are closed for the day so they can avoid customers at all cost. You press the option for online ordering help and they will transfer you to "the department that can help you with placing an order" when that's the CURRENT DEPARTMENT YOU ARE SPEAKING WITH, just for the call to drop so they can screw you over. Then if you call again they can "help you re-place your $500 order that you purchase on Black Friday for $1000 now because the sale is no longer valid even though WE FUCKED UP AND SUCK AS A COMPANY BUT NOW WELL JUST FUCK YOU OVER INSTEAD. read more

I had an eye exam done recently there and ordered 3 sets of very expensive progressive lenses all close to the same time , all of which were done wrongly. The final progressive lense glasses was 1,000 dollars for one pair and again wrong measurements made wrongly so I couldn't read again. First time the eye exam was wrong so I I went to then another doctor to check it, he modified the prescription more accurately and I had them remade to conform to the new one at the Lensecrafters Kildeer store. Again wrongly made by Lensecrafters. They seem incapable of making progressive glasses now. I had been going there many years alternating with other businesses. The staff is not helpful and act as if its the clients fault the glasses don't work which is clearly their fault every time. They do not even apologize a simple mater of manners ....of which they all seem lacking there with an sarcastic, uppity attitude. The doctor was not very knowledgeable and gave me wrong prescription couldn't remember definition of a possible problem, an aspect of my exam....and did not pick up on the early development of cataracts, just beginning stage the doctor at a different company clearly saw!.....I would not recommend Lensecrafters for progressive lenses and recommend finding other doctors to verify any progressive sense prescription! They need to find new ways to measure for eye glasses progressives.... I do not recommend this store as it has changed for the worse over the years. read more

Barley giving one star. Was 2 minutes late when I Went to this LensCrafters instead of my usual Lincolnshire location to get my prescription updated because it's a lot closer to my house. What a mistake! Got attitude from the blonde girl because I was taking too long to fill out my paperwork because I couldn't figure out my insurance stuff, so she basically forced me to finish and shoved me in a room for pre screening even though I wanted to be sure I wasn't going to pay anything which is the whole reason I wanted to get the insurance stuff figured out! But she told me they were booked SOLID so they couldn't wait 10 minutes for me to figure it out, HA! Didn't see one other person walk in until I walked out at the end. I Was in there for an entire fucking hour just for them to tell me that my prescription changed but I'd need to buy new frames or be without my current glasses for 2 weeks. I go "so how am I supposed to see?" They go "don't you have a backup pair of glasses?" What the fuck do I look like I'm shitting money and can afford to have two pairs of glasses?? So I literally spent 40 for a fucking eye exam and wasted an hour of my time for absolutely nothing. I even told them "I guess this is how you sucker people into buying new frames every time, huh?" And they all stood there blank faced because they know it's true. What a scam company and a shitty staffed store. read more

I had a great experience here. I have a difficult prescription and many times it's difficult for me to get options. The opthamologist was very knowledgable and very kind. He found me a great option that is the best I've ever had in contacts. I can't thank him enough! My previous eye docs did not have the options available he did. The staff is super friendly! I recommend this place highly. I also was previously doing to go to an eye doc in barrington, and I don't have eye care insurance coverage, just the exam was going to cost me $300. Lenscrafters did everything for $80 and did it well. read more

I took my son here for his first eye exam for Kindergarten. I typically go to the location in Arlington Heights for my exams, but my doctor left Lenscrafters. This is a smaller and nicer store. I think I'll be switching to Deer Park going forward. Dr. Hand and the associates were fantastic with my son! They did a great job of explaining what the machines would do, what to expect, etc. and used simple language he could relate to. I wasn't sure what to expect with his first exam, knowing from personal experience that it's quick and painless, but also knowing new things can be scary for kids. He was shy but not scared thanks to their kind treatment. My husband also picked out prescription sunglasses while we were there, they were a bit slow to help him but I'll cut them a break b/c they may have assumed he was just killing time during the eye exam. But once they got started on the order it was quick and they seemed very knowledgeable. read more

After going to one LensCrafters in Arlington heights and not getting my glasses adjusted correctly after five tries I tried this place out. I asked for Gina, the manager, and she spent a good 20 minutes getting my glasses adjusted correctly. I have Ben trying since November to get them right and she finally did it. They worked to get me the highest discount with my health insurance and were knowledgable about all the aspects that went into such a high prescription like the one I have. I have a pair of ray ban wayfarers that needed the lenses replace so I was instructed to come here. No one in the store could install the new lenses so they overnight shipped the glasses to their lab where they used some type of specialized equipment to install them. I received a call two days later saying they were done. All of this service was done at NO CHARGE to me even though I have never been a customer of lenscrafters. They also gave me a free brand new ray ban case for the glasses since I forgot to leave mine with them. I've never been more blown away with customer service than I am now. read more
