Dr. Tiffany Massela did my eye exam and she was fantastic: friendly, funny, and somehow managed to make having bright lights shined directly into my eyeballs a genuinely pleasant experience. The whole team was great and helped me pick frames that actually work with my face (which is no small engineering challenge). Special shoutout to Alexander (683162). Alex was an absolute legend! Super helpful, knew exactly what he was doing, and made the whole process smooth and fun. Shannon, please make sure to give this guy a raise. Order glasses on a Friday and was able to pick them up on a Monday - great service and great selection. They are covered by many insurance plans and very helpful to talk you through what benefits are available for your use. The single worst customer service experience I've had with eyewear- in 50 years of wearing glasses. Today I was told that my delivery date for my glasses was pushed ahead another week- this is the FOURTH time the date has slipped ahead. Regular glasses; every other place I've been had no problem getting them to me within a week. I'm on 3 weeks right now; and no glasses. More importantly; no one from their office has been in touch with me to let me know the status has changed. Every time I call on the "promised " date there's another excuse. The "holiday weekend" has set their delivery back another 11 days. Really? Last year's glasses had to be returned within the first week as one lens was not even seated in the frame. So, I've been to this Lenscrafters twice now --once for an eye exam and once to actually pick out my glasses. The eye appointment was on par for normal--about a 10 minute wait, followed by quick check with assistant and 1:1 with optometrist. On my second visit, the assistant ran my insurance to verify my price range for lens and frames. The upside is that this site is considered an 'eye boutique', meaning they carry primarily designer brands. Think Michael Kors, Chanel, Ray Bans. There are also some budget-friendlish options (under $150 frames). I wish there was a larger selection, but eyeware has moved to a uniformed 1950s look which is a little disappointing. I recommend coming in on a weekday as the weekend has a tendency to fill up quickly and you might have to wait an additional 15-20 minutes. When I asked for my prescription the staff at LensCrafters refused to provide my pupillary distance or Axis since I had not purchased glasses from them before, to prevent me from purchasing glasses elsewhere at a more affordable rate. I've had a pretty bad experience here. I couldn't make this up. When I first came in to get new contacts (late July), the optometrist himself was very nice during the eye exam and prescribed me eye drops that would help heal my scratched corneas (who knew?). But since going here for the first time, the assistants have screwed up my name in their system twice. So rather than just being Kara Findley, I'm also Cara Findley and Kara Sindley... That caused about 15 minutes of confusion when I came in for a follow-up checkup - the checkup that no one really told me I had to make - I thought they were just going to order my contacts after the appointment. This mistake happened twice. Keep reading. And when I went to pick up my order of contacts (there was some confusion about that too), the assistant took about 10 minutes to find them because the employees evidently don't understand alphabetical order. He was searching in drawers and cabinets throughout the whole store. And when he finally found them, he handed me 5 boxes... And I had to point out, "I have TWO eyes!" To which he replied, "Oh...Good point." The contacts I was given barely corrected my vision. So I had to make another appointment (Aug 14). A different doctor did an eye exam and came up with a totally different prescription. So the first doctor got it horribly wrong or something. Maybe it was because my corneas were scratched up at the time, but he should have anticipated that. I was given two sample contacts that were pretty close to my prescription, and an order was placed for my actual prescription to replace the prescription that didn't work... or so I thought. I called in a week and a half later to see if my contacts had arrived. The assistant checked and couldn't find anything and said he'd call back. 3 days later, I called in again to check. A woman answered this time, and searched for a few minutes, then came back and said "Your last name is Feeny, right?" I corrected her and spelled out my last name. I waited for a few more minutes. "I couldn't find anything for you. Did you already purchase contacts?" I replied, "did you try KARA?" She replied "no, I was searching for CARA." Why didn't she ask to clarify this the first time?! Several minutes later, no contacts. I guess no one had ever placed the order for my second batch of contacts. I'm pretty sure they said they would. This woman said she'd call back on Monday (Aug 30) and get to the bottom of this. She did call me back on Tuesday, and as it turns out I had to schedule a follow-up appointment with the sample contacts. Again, no one had told me this. So I came in for yet another appointment, verified that the latest sample contacts were working for me, and actually got the order for 8 months worth of contacts placed. Usually you can't return opened boxes of contacts, but since the service here had been so horrible, I demanded that I not have to pay for contacts that did nothing for my vision. They complied, so at least I got something back for my grief. For that reason I give this place 2 stars instead of 1. But when I need new contacts again, I'm certainly not going back to Lenscrafters. read more

I've been coming to this particular LensCrafters for years and have never had a problem. The staff and Dr. McGrath are friendly and helpful. Everything is expensive, but I get a good 4-5 years out of my glasses so I don't mind paying more for nice designer glasses. Last time I was in I was really looking forward to getting my new glasses and they were nice enough to get them ready same day as my exam since the had my prescription lenses already in the store. Have you ever seen a train wreck? Neither have I, but this was as close as it comes. First time I received an incomplete eye exam because they needed to re-calibrate a diagnostic device. Then, today, I went in to get fitted for a new frame. Prescription is already on file. I waited, then got a call about one of the parts on the lab machine needing a part. Ok. A few hours later, after I had conceded and taken a full sick day, I called to find out the ball was barely rolling and I might have to wait until Saturday. Transferred my order to a different store and that will mark the final time I do business with this company. read more

I am wholly displeased by this outfit. I had my eye exam there, but the prescription was incomplete: no pupillary distance or axis listed. Some places do it this way in an effort not to lose business to the internet. When I went back to get my pupillary distance measured I was told only the doctor could do that, which is false. I was then told I'd have to make another appointment. I went elsewhere to get my pupillary distance measured for free, but when I tried to buy glasses online, I realized the doctor had not included an axis number. So I paid $$ for basically half a prescription. I call BS. read more

I'm very disappointed and frustrated. I stopped in yesterday to have my eye glasses adjusted. Afterwards, Within a couple of hours, my glasses arm was hyperextended. So, the next day I brought them back to fix. They said the glasses were now missing a piece and they could not fix the glasses. I asked what I was suppose to do now? I brought in glasses for minor adjustment and wound up with broken glasses. Answer: I would need to take them to an eyeglass repair shop. I asked for the manager. Even worse. She asked if I bought them there. I said no. She said I was suppose to be told they are not liable for fixing glasses "they may have broken" if they are from another store. Seriously? The glasses cost $1,000 with lenses. So around $400-$450 for the frames. Plus they are my only pair. I have spent a lot of money as my family gets eye exams and glasses here. No customer first approach. The employee that fixed them was in the store and stayed silent. I felt he knew it had happened due to the bending of the frame after heating. But he stayed far away from the conversation. They just lost all my business and I will tell my employees to use our on site company eye dr...and see what I can do to remove lens crafters as a company option. read more

Visited this location last week. Worst customer service ever! I Broke my glasses and had to purchase a new pair of frames. My glasses were broken in the middle, sharp edges. While taking my lenses out and putting the lenses in the new frames both of my lenses were scratched on the "inside " of my lenses. Both manager and associate said that it wasn't done there. But I never left the store and showed the scratches on the lenses. The manager wanted for me to pay for their carelessness. Not fair and I didn't. Went with grandson to pick out new sports glasses. I was very impressed with the Dr. She was excellent with a wiggly 6 year old. She spoke to him using his name, and asking him about school and sports. It went a long way in making him comfortable and cooperative for the eye exam. I could tell he remembered her from his last visit and was pleased when she mentioned how much he had grown in a year. She shared a wonderful visual which I have not seen before. She was able to show me a side by side demonstration on a tablet of how an image appears with his prescription and how it appears with his glasses. It made me appreciate how even a small prescription can make a huge difference in our daily lives. There was a nice special on the frames/glasses and they ran it with insurance and special discount to see which way would be cheapest for us. Shelley was extremely good with a small child. Agree with Kara F. and had a similar experience. I came here to fill a script for glasses. I picked out my frames and ordered lenses. They came and I picked up my new glasses. After wearing them for one week, I decided I wanted to get higher index lenses. They ordered lenses for me and I wore my old glasses while waiting for the new ones to come in. No hassle yet. They informed me that after the thinner lenses came in, it would take one hour for them to cut them and put them into my frames. The lenses came in, and I went to Target for some shopping. Then the blank hit the fan. I came back 1 hour later, and they said they needed more time. I decided this was okay since they were busy, even though they were just as busy 1 hour ago when they promised me they would be done in 1 hour. So i sat and waited for another 30 minutes. During this time I saw the lens cutting technician walking around helping customers instead of cutting lenses. They finally called me over and told me there was good news and bad news. The bad news was, they had screwed up my lenses and had to reorder. The good news was, they put my old lenses into my frames. What?! Thats the good news?! Luckily for me, they would ship the new lenses ASAP and they would come in within the next 3 days. Or so I thought. 5 days later I give them a call. "Did my lenses come in?" I asked earnestly. "No, call in a few days.." A few days later, "Are they in?" "No." I ask when they will be in. They can't tell me right now. I ask them to have someone call me back when they know. Days pass. No one calls me back. I call again. They still dont know. I ask for someone to call me back again. More days pass. No one calls me. I have flashbacks of highschool. I'm getting ready to unleash the beast, when my lenses finally arrive. Of course when I get to the store, they can't find my lenses. Apparently all glasses and contacts are store in 3 separate places across the store. $10 says there is no organization system. The lady takes so long looking for them she forgets my name and has to ask again. I am the only one in the store and the only customer she is working with. On the plus side I did get my glasses and they work fine. This, of course, is the bare minimum level of competency. They were very nice throughout the whole process, especially near the end when I started getting pissed. The SEGs increased exponentially as time passed. Anyone considering this place should make like time and pass. read more

While I waited for my father to finish his appointment one of the employees, Keith pestered me the whole time and followed me around to try to get me to buy a new pair from them even though I repeatedly told him I was not interested as the last pair of glasses I ordered from them had poor quality lenses. The right lens was crocked inside the frame and kept popping put. I hated them. Today I went to pick up my contacts and arrived at 9:58 am, they open at 10. The employee inside setting up for the day was clearly finished doing whatever because when he saw me try to open the door, then stood unmoving behind the counter for the next two minutes and stared at me while he forced me to stand in the rain until his clock read exactly 10. To me, it seemed like the place was so hell-bent on making a sale that they completely overlook customer service. The "doctor" at this Indianapolis Glendale location misdiagnosed the glaucoma in my left eye about three years ago. I was aware that my vision was becoming a bit cloudy, but she assured me it was just my prescription. Unfortunately, I believed her. Today I had a comprehensive eye exam at a university medical center. I was diagnosed with severe glaucoma in my left eye, caused by excess fluid pressure. I have significant irreversible optic nerve damage and vision loss in that eye. The doctor said it had been going on for some time (i.e. I already had symptoms of glaucoma when I visited LensCrafters.) I will never use LensCrafters or any other shopping center eye doctor again. read more

I scheduled an appt here for the first time because it is so close to my home. I have vsp insurance which they take. I arrived 20 minutes early to verify my insurance and the woman who checked me in was not helpful in the least. I told her my insurance was through my father and she kept looking up my name and social security number through the member services. It doesn't come up under my name and social. After I asked if she should look up my dads info - she said no. So I left. I went to visionworks where they looked up my coverage through my father and I got my exam and contacts. I previously purchased a few boxes of contact lenses from this store when I first moved to Indy and my prescription from my previous optometrist was still current and my experience was fine. A few months later I needed new glasses and I was ordering them from Warby Parker, the online eyeglass store. To do so I needed to obtain my pupil distance measurement. I called Lenscrafters to see if this is something that they could do for me an to inquire what that service would cost. The young woman that I spoke to said that they could do that and there would be no charge. I drove over just minutes after my phone call and asked to have the measurement taken. The girl behind the counter completely freaked out and told me that THEY do not provide that service. I told her that I just got off the phone with another staff member who told me that they could. I understand that Lens Crafters' goal is to sell me overpriced Luxottica eyeglasses and that, as part of the Luxottica brand, they hold almost a complete monopoly on the eyeglass industry. (Ever wonder why eyeglasses are so expensive? There's your answer.) However, I was not prepared for the nastiness and anger that was spewed at me. After I insisted, the horrible brunette with the long hair did finally take my pupil distance measurement all the while saying, "We'll never do this for you again", but frankly I didn't trust her to give me the correct reading. I hauled my cookies down to the Wal-Mart on Keystone Parkway where the optical department was more than happy to provide the measurement AND adjust my glasses for free when they arrived. Result? I ended up scheduling my yearly exam at Wal-Mart and I now purchase my contacts from them as well. The level of incompetence of the staff at this place is unbelievable. I went in and picked out a pair of sunglasses. I was helped by a girl who seemed to have absolutely no idea what she was doing. I was told they could call my eye doctor and get my prescription and place the order the next day. I've called several times this week to find out if they placed the order. No one knows. I keep getting promises they will look into it and call me back. Not a single call back. It's been a week and I still have no idea if they ordered my sunglasses. They must just grab people off the street and throw them behind the desk because the are all totally clueless. read more

This is the worst place on earth. I have never had such a horrible experience anywhere ever! First I ordered my glasses on September 28th. Almost ten days later I still didn't have my glasses. They called and said there was a problem and they had to reorder them. So, I have to wait another five days or so. In the meantime, I get two calls from them asking me to bring in my frames. I don't have frames, I am getting an entirely new pair of glasses. By the way they talked, they had obviously lost someone's order and were trying to find whose glasses belonged to these lenses. So, I asked about mine, she said they should be in tomorrow. They did come in. They were scratched. This is now about three weeks after I had ordered this pair of glasses. I was already pissed! I go in to get a refund. They convince me to wait for the next set of lenses. They give me the defective pair to wear until they get the new lenses. Great. Still mad, though. So, they finally come in. I have been wearing the defective pair a week and I notice that the line on my trifocal is too high. I tell this to the girl and ask her if there is anything that can be done. She says, "No." and then she says, "you might not like it, but you can just wear them down lower on your nose." I was about ready to slap her back home to Jesus! I was so mad at this point that I was talking very quietly, very slowly with a look of demonic possession in my eyes. I told her to re-measure them. I had to actually tell the twit to do this. So, now it is November 5th. I got my new lenses yesterday. The trifocal line is so low, that I have no bifocal line to read. I have to pull my chin to my chest to read. And I asked. I asked on September 28th when I got these glasses will the fit a trifocal. And Leslie(the owner's sister who had worked there for over twenty years-oh yes. And keep in mind she is the one who originally measured me). I am not done yet, because it gets better. Last night the lenses fell out of the frames! Woohoo. Wow this is the best place in the world. I can't wait to go back there, because today it will be my fourth time in a month that I get to see these idiots. Don't, Don't, Do not go here! Do not. Absolutely horrid experience except for the doctor. After wearing the contacts for a few days, my eyes became painfully inflamed and swollen. It was at this point that I looked at the contacts they had given me and they were expired. At first they tried to argue with me that it was not possible so I brought the proof back to the store. They apologized and told me that it wasn't likely that the expired lenses caused my discomfort and pain. Despite trying to claim the expired contacts had anything to do with my eye irritation, the doctor gave me $20 from the cash register and wrote me a prescription for eye drops for the damage done by the expired contacts. They then promised to not charge me for the adjustments with my frames they had to fix and that turned out to be an outright lie. They tried to charge me an additional $147 for something that the doctor there told me would be taken care of. At that point, I demanded a full refund and that my insurance authorization corrected. read more
