Waited patiently over 2 hours while a (new?) or inexperienced employee was having issues with every step of my order, only to be told I was a 'liar dear' (several times) after she charged me for things I said I didn't want. I'm in my 50's. Manager was aware of the bad service, and gave me a coupon. I went to pick up my glasses and they were blurry on me, from far and close. I'm farsighted. How did this happen? The team leader had little patience for me when I tried to explain that I'm farsighted. She was asking me what I wanted her to do in the coldest tone. It was off-putting considering the week before. Not a nice staff. I've read several similar reviews so I know it's this place. I left being threatened and without glasses. Prob for the best. read more

Unfortunately, the manager, who apparently is the only one to talk to about ordering the new hearing aid sunglasses, is not available. I went this morning at 11.30 am and she was outside the store talking animatedly. One of the assistants who had already told me that she was the only person who could help, said the manager would be off her cell phone in "a minute". Eight minutes later (as she was still talking animatedly)l I left. I came back to the store about an hour and a half later, and the assistant said she (the manager) was gone and called her. Even after scheduling an appointment online, (because usually the phones don't get answer) I was told no one was able to see me to make another appointment. There who service is based on placing an appointment and now that I have done exactly that, both receptionist couldn't see it on the program as if it was my fault. Couldn't have had a better experience. Genevieve was so pleasant and accommodating after I missed my appointment to reschedule me later in the day no questions asked, Dr. Fang was informative and lighthearted, and Loana (I hope I'm not butchering the spelling!) was incredibly patient with me in the checkout process, and even helped me with tightening two pairs of glasses + helping me get lenses replaced for two others, all while getting me an incredible deal on my lenses. I had a really frustrating experience booking an appointment online. They made an appointment with a doctor who doesn't actually work at this location--it feels like a complete lie just to lure clients in for another doctor. I rearranged my day for the test, only to get a call the same morning saying the doctor wasn't in. What's the point of that? It's such a waste of time! read more

The Optic associate Farhana is exceptional. She took me through the different price points for a new pair of glasses, according to the thicknesses of the lenses, and gave thoughtful advice if it was needed - or not. I wasn't sure if I'd commit to any glasses but she used all eligible promotions, in-store, insurance and sales to bring my glasses down to a doable price point. Farina also gave stylistic advice about the suitability of the frames I selected. It was very encouraging because she wears GREAT glasses. To update, I needed new glasses. I walked into the lenscrafters by 23rd street. They want to tack on about 500 to my insurance allowance of a free exam and 350 frame and glasses allowance. I went to Costco (check out Consumers Reports and others - Costco has the best glasses! Maybe not as many frames as a Lenscrafters, but they have a lot. I got 2 progressive pairs of glasses at Costco for about a third as Lenscrafters (luxotica) wanted for one. IF YOU CAN USE BASIC LOGIC, AND DON'T HAVE MONEY TO BURN FOR NO REASON FOR A LESSER PRODUCT - go to Costco. On the other hand, if you have money to burn and live in a 10,000 a month apartment in NYC, be my guest, let Lenscrafters abuse you. read more

He was very kind in responding to all my questions, not just by saying yes and no but by offering very clear explanation to my questions. The site says "walk-ins welcome". I walked in. The front receptionist informs me there are no appointments available. I say I saw a few online for tomorrow. She says I gave the last one away 3 minutes ago. She then starts typing on her iPad. I thought she was looking to see if she could squeeze me in, like any good customer service rep would, so I just stood there waiting for her to be done. She looks up and ignores me. I say, oh you weren't looking for availability's. She said no, I said there weren't any. I felt dismissed. She is rude. From incorrectly billing my insurance company, to making my glasses incorrectly, and finally being flat out lied to, this store is an absolute disaster! The manager, Latoya, is rude and argumentative. My frames are now nowhere to be found, which has led mt to file a police report against this store and it's manager. LensCrafters corporate office has been completely absent as well! Not to mention they are slower, less accurate, and 20% more expensive than any other eyeglass retailer around!! Going to the eye doctor once a year is something that I would put off if not for the fact that I need to renew my contact lens prescription! I'd been going to a doctor in the East Village, but now that I've moved to the UWS I needed to find a closer option. I had an excellent experience here - was able to make an appointment for the next day, and when I showed up at the store, the employees were able to assist me at my scheduled time. I had to fill out some intake forms since it was my first time there, but everything moved quickly. I saw Dr. Poon, and she was super efficient and personable - felt like I was visiting a friend! I was in and out in less than an hour with a brand new contact lens prescription. I really appreciate that there was no upselling - most eye doctors I've been to try to convince you to order contacts from them, even though you can almost always find a better deal online, and some won't even give you your prescription outright so you can order on your own (you have to nag them to send it to you) - so I often go in dreading the sales pitch. Dr. Poon and the folks working in the lobby handed me a printed out copy of my prescription, informed me that I could get a rebate by ordering a year's supply directly from the manufacturer, and sent me on my way. All in all, an awesome experience. I'll definitely be back next year when I need to renew my prescription again. :-) read more

Receptionist working when I went to pick up my contacts was deliberately on a personal call complaining to a friend about getting moved to part time, blatantly ignoring multiple customers waiting for her help and people waiting outside the store in the cold bc the door was locked. Such an amazing and clean store. Raven helped me out so much. I went in because my current pair that I bought elsewhere give me horrible red marks on my face. Short lived improvement. I won't say it's as shockingly bad as it was before Latoya took over, but it's slipped continually, and she seems frazzled and frustrated by any request. It's amazing how this store just can't make it work. Every time I go in there's a long wait before anyone can even speak to me. Each time I go to pick up contacts it's like they've never sold contacts before and are pulling them out of a toy chest to find them. The latest is that you need an appointment just to pick up ordered contacts. LensCrafters really needs to up its staffing and provide the workers with experienced managers. I do find the doctors eager and well-intentioned, and the staff is not rude, just all in over their heads and not well trained on customer service. read more

I went to the Lens Crafters at 2050 Broadway on the UWS to buy a pair of Eyewear Retainers, called Croaties. Annick was helping me. As I removed my glasses for her to slip them into the Croaties, one lens fell out onto the floor. I was horrified, as I was planning to fly off on a trip the next morning. Without missing a beat, Annick picked the lens off the floor. She spent the next 12 minutes putting the lens back into the frame and tightening all the necessary parts. i was so grateful for her help, and she didn't even charge extra for her kindness! read more

I was prepared to write a glowing review until I had to go back because of a defect with my glasses. While on my first visit, the person who helped me and Dr. Sebastiano were great, on my second and third visit, the store manager was not and gave me a whole lot of attitude and rolled her eyes at me while I tried to explain the problem with my glasses - dismissed me and told me to come back hours later because she was too busy. Dr. Sebastiano was great - she took the time to make sure I walked out with the right prescription as one of my eyes was in between two corrections. I didn't feel rushed at all...she was patient with me as we went back and forth between the two corrections to figure out which one was most comfortable for my eye. I placed an order for my glasses and contacts and they were delivered super fast - within two days to the store. Went to pick them up - however, from the very start, something felt off with my glasses. Second visit - the doctor checked my prescription and confirmed it was right. The store manager tried adjusting my frame - telling me it was just the way the frame was sitting on my face and that I would get used to it. A week later, I'm suffering from headaches as the new glasses are just not right. I finally hold them up to the light and see the defect in the glass - a cascade through the center of both lenses. Third visit - store manager rolls her eyes at me, refuses to even look at my glasses for me to show her the flaw and tells me to come back later. After coughing up hundreds of dollars on new lenses, you'd think I should be able to see through my new glasses and get non-defective glasses - what a concept?! After being rudely dismissed, I hopped on the train and went to the LensCrafters at Columbus Circle where they welcomed me, greeted me and treated me with respect. I explained the problem, the very nice gentleman in the store took the time to actually look at my glasses and immediately saw the flaw. He apologized and sent them to be replaced immediately. Quick, friendly and professional service at the Columbus Circle location - no drama like the location on Broadway. If you're thinking of coming here, do yourself a favor and take the train two stops to Columbus Circle - you'll be happy you did. read more

I had a scary thing show up during my exam. Dr Sebastiano was lovely and sweet and very knowledgeable. My frustrations didn't come from my initial visit but I'm by the attempt to follow up. Dr Sabastiano Informed me that my corneas were wearing away. This is terrifying news to me but I take it with a grain of salt. The doctor said it could be because of overwear of contacts or maybe a disease. So we should have a follow up appointment and check this out. Two weeks later was my follow up. I call the office to reschedule because something came up. I spoke to a receptionist about changing my appointment and then explained to her my scary cornea situation. She asked me to repeat. I did. (Mind you this is very scary to me- so to explain it over and over is kind of traumatic.) She then put me on hold. I talked to someone else. We figured out a new appointment window and then I explained about my corneas again because I wanted everyone to be in the same page that this wasn't just another contact exam. SHE then asked me to repeat. I said "You know? I don't think I should go here because it doesn't feel like this office has ANY knowledge what's happening to my eyes and I should look up a specialist instead." The woman on the phone then explained to me that if I see the doctor she will recommend a specialist and I said OK so we agreed on an appointed time. That appointment was yesterday. I called and let them know I was ruining a few minutes behind and then they said they didn't have me down for an appointment. My heart sank. They said they could squeeze me in at 1 but there would be other people there and I would have to have patience. I said never mind. I'm going to a specialist. So that was my last LensCrafters experience. It really made me feel like it's the JiffyLube version of the eye doctor. My eyes are worth going to a place where I feel taken care of. I hope Dr Sebastiano moves on to other places. Because she's more than JiffyLube grade eye dr. Too bad her receptionists are weighing her down. read more

My regular eye doctor closed her office, and it has been really hard going to a new place. I found this location under my current insurance provider. Its located on 70th and Broadway right next to the #1 and 2 trains. I schedule my appointment online for 320pm but got to the location about 35 minutes a head of schedule. The location was very clean and the staff were really friendly and greeted me as soon as I walked in. There was a very nice young lady who verified my insurance and gave me a form to fill out. And then I had a pretty exam performed by a gentleman named Courtney. I then was examined by Dr Poon, I think that was her name. The location had a wide variety of eye glassware with varying prices. Wallace was very patient with and helped me picked the best pair for me in fit and price. The MD justed progressive but I went with the Bifocals because my insurance covered it. I have to wait 10 business days to get my glasses but I look forward to being able to see clearer again. Overall I had a very positive experience here, just wish the bathroom was work but it was out of order read more

The doctor seemed to be nice and know what she was doing . They do have a large variety of frames, I just wish they all werent so expensive. Went recently to report a contact lens that came in defective packaging from the manufacturer via mail, therefore unusable. With no questions asked, Latoya the store manager gave me a replacement one she happened to have on hand (they no longer carry this model in stock). Even though it was over a year since I had purchased them she immediately sought to find a solution and offered some advice on what to do if it would happen again (as I might not be so lucky to find my model in store). I've considered buying my contacts online but after my second positive experience at this store, I'd much rather shop local for the great service. read more

I met with Dr. Sebastiano and am totally satisfied at how professional and nice this doctor is. She went out of her way to answer all my questions and did it all with a smile. I NEVER write reviews, but this place was absolutely terrible, worst customer service by far, so I had to do it. I placed an order for prescription sunglasses on July 6th. It is now August 26th and I still haven't gotten them. First they said it was damaged and sent it back. Rather than calling me to inform me of the current situation, I had to call them a month after placing the order to find out what happened. Not only do they not actively call their customers, they consistently told me that they would return my phone calls in 5 mins, 10 mins, etc, but they never do. I am so fed up with them so I told them that when my sunglasses finally arrive, send it to another store location so I never have to go to their store ever again. That was five days ago. I was informed by the new location that they have never even gotten a phone call regarding the shipment that should only take hours rather than days. Horrible horrible service. If you do call, ask for the manager, she is the only competent person there, and will actually return a phone call and knows what's going on. read more
