Today was my 3rd trip to this location. The staff has changed but the service was still excellent. Great selection of frames and welcoming dr. I love the ease and use of technology everywhere from reminders to booking. It made it all simple; not to mention the staff is helpful and outgoing. 5

On my 2nd return to purchase the frame and prescription lenses, the service was very slow. It was last Sunday, around 1 pm. There were 4 or 5 employees, but a lot of customers waiting for their turn to try or pick up their glasses. There was inconsistency in the pricing. I'm glad the manager took over, instead of the newbie. I was there for almost an hour because the newbie wasn't reliable to explain and solve the total cost of my bill with or without insurance. He almost gave me the frame that came out from display case instead of ordering me a new pair of the frame. Man...He wasn't paying attention to details of what I want to order. He didn't even tell me when my glasses will be ready for pick-up.. tsk tsk! I wish this location have newer frames. Almost see the same designer frames since I came here 2 years ago. While looking around, I wanted to try the Cartier frames. To my surprise, the manager told me it is not advisable for me to purchase because I'm most likely be rob for it...what!!! I wasn't sure if he was just avoiding to open the display case. For an eye exam, no need for a prior appointment. With my insurance, it did not cover all of the services. I have to pay extra if I want to have my eyes dilated or have eyes checked for contact lenses. Pretty sure, I didn't pay extra at Henry Ford Optical. And you have no option if you prefer a male or female ophthalmologist. In comparison, I will probably go back to Henry Ford for the eye check-up. Coupons from the email? Confusing! I was told it only applies to services without insurance. I only came to this location because of the Prada frame I purchased. Parking was ok. Location is across Meijer and Nissan of Telegraph road.

To read as in books, etc., I have to raise my head up and attempt to fit the reading in the bi-focal. When I specially ask for more reading space across the bottom. At work, I can't read my computer screen, it fuzzy. So I'm going to call today and see what run around I am going to get. P. Jackson-Walters

For the past 7-8 weeks, I've been suffering from severe eye irritation and have been on steroids…read moredue to what I believe is a misfit contact lens placed in my left eye by this location. I have keratoconus, and I explained from the beginning that my symptoms only occur when the lens is in , yet the staff dismissed my concerns and blamed UV light exposure without conducting any proper investigation. Every time I went in it was a check to see if the inflammation has gone down and the inflammation definitely kept coming back. I repeatedly told them something felt wrong with the lens, but I was ignored. I even went as far as to wearing sunglasses every day. After nearly six weeks of ongoing inflammation, I was finally allowed to speak to the director who had originally fit my RGP lenses years ago. Once he examined the lens, he acknowledged the issue and said he would order new lenses. But even after that, no one at this location followed up or made any effort to ensure the follow up with me about proper paperwork and prior authorization that were submitted to my insurance. There was no coordination or urgency, despite my repeated concerns. When I visited on July 22 to request my medical records IN PERSON so that I could have them reviewed by an attorney, the manager initially told me he would provide me with a prepared document. But later during the same visit, he completely changed course and claimed I would have to "go through corporate." This kind of shifting response is not only unprofessional , it's a violation of my rights under HIPAA, which guarantees access to my own records. The general manager, Candace, was supposed to contact me that same week, According to them, she was out and would come in on Thursday , and despite multiple attempts and assurances, I've received no call, no voicemail, and no explanation. I've since filed a grievance with my insurance carrier and reached out directly to Henry Ford Health board members. It's now been over two months of pain, blurry vision, and being trapped in a position where I can't work or drive without a lens that causes me pain. Henry Ford Health System needs to do better. Patients deserve responsive care, honest communication, and full access to their medical records , not runarounds, excuses, and for me a form of possible medical neglect. The inner corner left eye is in the photo. And even though it doesn't look so big, it is Definitley really uncomfortable.

First time going there today for an eye contact appt/ prescription …read more I asked dr. Friedman if they had samples and he said even if they did they don't have time for a fitting today..? Anywhere else I've ever gone they take the extra 10 minutes to see if they have samples in stock and if they do then they just do the fitment of the contact lens the same day. I asked one of the ladies at the front desk and they said he would have checked if they had in stock.. but I told them I don't think he wanted to even check... it turns out they did have the samples in stock so they let me take the samples but he needed to look at my eyes again with the contacts before he could give the prescription.. so they said they would ask if he could take a few minutes to do the "fitting" and he said no now I need to go back tomorrow for a 15 minute check so he can look at my eyes.. (when I was there anyway but didn't want to see if they had my prescription in stock) when he originally told me he'd call me back for the fitment when the trials came in in 7 days... he didn't even want to try.. and wants you to come back for 3 appts total before the prescription is issued. Stay away, lesson learned for us.
