A lot more personality from the team leader and a lot less judgement. I was there today and had just left a work site. I was dirty from working and only went in based on my phone call the previous day. I was already stressed as i had broken my glasses. I couldnt see. This employee looked me up and down like i was trash. I had to tell HER to stop looking at me like I was trash. After i pick up my glasses, i will NEVER go to this location or any other lens crafter again. UNACCEPTABLE. She literally laughed in my face after i called her out and told her to stop looking at me in that manner. Garbage Service and garbage team leader. She should be fired! No one should ever be subjected to this demeaning type of customer service. Let's see if corporate is listening. I am a long time customer of LensCrafters, for over twenty years, today, Monday, June 30, 2025, I stopped by the 28620 Telegraph, Southfield, MI store to see if I could find a frame for lenses in an old pair of prescription sunglasses. instead of the associate assisting me in my endeavor, she was snarky and stated that she would have to pop my lenses into all of the glasses in the store and walked away. I walked around the store in less than five minutes to compare various frames, lens size with my own and determined that the frames on hand would not be a good fit. Mind you, I normally purchase two pairs of eyewear at a time, which cost quite a sum: NO MORE. LensCrafters employees need to learn how to service it's customers better, a sale could have been made today. Never again. read more

On my 2nd return to purchase the frame and prescription lenses, the service was very slow. It was last Sunday, around 1 pm. There were 4 or 5 employees, but a lot of customers waiting for their turn to try or pick up their glasses. There was inconsistency in the pricing. I'm glad the manager took over, instead of the newbie. I was there for almost an hour because the newbie wasn't reliable to explain and solve the total cost of my bill with or without insurance. He almost gave me the frame that came out from display case instead of ordering me a new pair of the frame. Man...He wasn't paying attention to details of what I want to order. He didn't even tell me when my glasses will be ready for pick-up.. tsk tsk! I wish this location have newer frames. Almost see the same designer frames since I came here 2 years ago. While looking around, I wanted to try the Cartier frames. To my surprise, the manager told me it is not advisable for me to purchase because I'm most likely be rob for it...what!!! I wasn't sure if he was just avoiding to open the display case. For an eye exam, no need for a prior appointment. With my insurance, it did not cover all of the services. I have to pay extra if I want to have my eyes dilated or have eyes checked for contact lenses. Pretty sure, I didn't pay extra at Henry Ford Optical. And you have no option if you prefer a male or female ophthalmologist. In comparison, I will probably go back to Henry Ford for the eye check-up. Coupons from the email? Confusing! I was told it only applies to services without insurance. I only came to this location because of the Prada frame I purchased. Parking was ok. Just called here and spoke to Melissa to get my 80yr old dads prescription redone because he lost his glasses. His prescription was on file but she said since they don't make that specific frame they can't make new glasses unless he comes in. She also told me NO OTHER LENSCRAFTERS COULD FIND FRAMES FOR HIS RX. Due to COVID pandemic he can't come in because he's in a high risk group. She also refused to email his prescription to his email address on file or mail it to his address. I have power of attorney for his health info and she still refused to let us have it to at least get glasses made somewhere else. She basically said he's out of luck until they reopen stores in JUNE! So she expected an 80 yea old senior not to have glasses to see for 2 months! Well..... I called another lens crafters and they used the exact same rx and made us a new pair of glasses and my dad has them on (this was all 2 hours after speaking with Melissa) I think Melissa should be fired for treating senior citizens this way and providing Mis-information during an emergency pandemic. Got a text my prescription glasses were ready. Drove all the way from Plymouth. When I arrived soon as I walked in the door I was greeted by a young lady dressed in all black at front center desk. But before I could make it to the counter to speak face to face she begin asking me my last name as if I'm supposed to yell across the store. She act very impatient or bothered as if she was frustrated with me walking in the door!. She was huffing and puffing like she just wanted me out of there asap. She found my glasses and pretty much mumbled to me to have a seat I'm assuming so I could try on the glasses. I had to pretty much figure out what she said because she looked at me with a sassy look like what's the problem. Almost felt like I was being arrested! lol. So I sat down, she sits down across from me looking angry. I had transitioned lenses so I ask I could see the transition. She got up went to the back with glasses and pretty much just tossed them at me on the table to try them on. I purchased a pair of $2000 Cartiers and $500 everyday Ray Bans. The customer service was horrible. Just be prepared to deal with some attitude and judgement looking when you go. I definitely won't be back or any of my children or others I know read more

I have been using this location for many (about 10) years. My family and I like Cartier frames and bought many pairs over the years. We spent thousands of dollars here. Last 2 years became an absolute nightmare to deal with the store. The hardware like screws or nose pads stoped being available. Today I made an attempt to change lenses in my older frame. I was told that the store can't do it unless they would charge me an additional $150 on top of the lenses cost. I had requested from the manager to speak with her supervisor but she told she couldn't even guarantee that. This is scam! Please be careful dealing with these guys. The management is powerless. Expect a very long wait for your eye exam even with an appointment. After waiting 40 mins to see the doctor, I complained to the manager and I was surprised by the bad attitude. She told me there's nothing she could do about the situation and that I should expect to wait this long. I have been coming here for years (bc it is close to work) and same issue every time. This is direct, not personal. On Friday I made an appointment for an eye examination and some new eye glasses. Confirmed my Tuesday appointment on Monday, and informed the sales person of my handicap and it's limitations. I arrived 5 minutes ahead of time and waited another 25 minutes before being serviced. The exams were through and understandably lengthy. At the end I was informed of some follow up that needed to be done and recommendation of another doctor presented to me. I moved to a presentation table for my eyeglass presentation. When the associate arrived I told them that I had talked to another person about a specific frame they had in stock. She couldn't find them and brought some other frames. After some discourse she went back and found them. They were the exact pair I requested. After all the paperwork she returned after 15 minutes to tell me the designer wouldn't accept the lenses so I would have to choose something else. I ended up with "no name" glasses and a 21 day wait instead of 24 hours as promised. Oh, the bill was over $500. Ask me what I think. No don't read more

I took a pair of frames to LensCrafters to have my prescription put in. The amount charged me and my eye insurance was $636.00!!!!! After researching this I have found the price quoted for prescription lenses (with my own frames) generally ranged btw 160.00 and 250.00 Something is seriously wrong here!! read more

I just began taking the time to do reviews because of an awful experience recently and I must say I've dealt with this LensCrafters for the last 3 years. They have done an excellent job every single time. Even when they can't assist me in the exact way I want they go the extra mile to do what they can to assist me. I just went here for my first set of glasses, and I was extremely happy with the process. I paid the extra $39 for the Optomap exam, since I did not want to deal with the doctor dilating my eyes. They helped me find a frame that I like that fit my big fat head, and Dr. Redwood was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. He could anticipate all the vision problems I was having, and even looked at my wife's glasses out of the corner of his eye and knew roughly what the prescription was. Yes, it was pricey, but it was quick, and I received the completed glasses about an hour later with no issues. Don't forget your auto club discounts and took for promotions on their website. read more

After purchasing the insurance for my glasses LensCrafters replaced them with a minimum charge to me. The prescription for the new glasses was wrong after bringing this to the attention the salesperson I was told to wait until my insurance renewed. My eyes watered constantly while wearing the new glasses, to the point that I was constantly wiping them. LensCrafters did nothing to replace the error in the prescription. This was my first purchase from LensCrafters and my last after that negative experience. read more

I had an appointment at the Southfield Location for glasses only and received the worst service. I was told that the air was not working and that you cannot take your mask off in order to breathe. I understood the process, what I did not understand was the customer service. I asked questions regarding my previous order before the Pandemics which included a $50 discount off my lens or frames. I was told that it expired and no longer acceptable. I ask why not since this was not something I did it was a virus that closed businesses. Then after paying over $500 for my glasses I was accused by the Manager of upsetting her assistant manager that ran off the floor crying. It had to be the heat in the building. I've had good service here before but my last interaction was completely a waste of time. I brought in my own glasses to get a prescription put in before I left out on a trip. I was told it was told it would take several days without them really checking how long it would take. So I decided to come back when I got back from my trip instead. The next time I come, I get an eye exam to get the prescription put in and they tell me it will take two weeks??? I decide to leave and search elsewhere because that takes entirely too long. There's nothing special or complicated with my prescription. I find another store that can do it within three days. I call lenscrafters to send my prescription, and after trying to get them to send it to two other fax numbers I never receive my perscription. Not quite sure what is going on a Lens Crafters? I went in today to purchase some new glasses, but I was told they no longer held my prescription since 1/5/2018 (roughly one year). That was the last time I was there, and spent $1100. on glasses, and sunglasses. It just doesn't sound right. The very attractive salesperson was still expounding on company policy (and blaming lawyers for the policy...are we that stupid?) as I walked out the door. Went in today to have my glasses replaced under warranty. Encountered a sales person by the name of Dana who was just rude and nasty for absolutely no reason. When I refused to deal with her anymore I was helped by another person and the manager who were both much more helpful. However, the manager never said anything to Dana and there is nothing to make me believe he will. Moreover, they do not have the same capabilities as the lab at Somerset mall, so I have to go put there anyway. Corporate should do something about that. read more

The LensCrafters on Telegraph is very unprofessional. I buy a pair of glasses every 2 years, and they can never seem to repair them. All they want to do is convince you to buy a new pair and never want to repair your old ones that you pay $1000 for.. they're good for buying glasses, but if you're coming in intending to get something fixed, they cant help you. read more

If I could give this place a half a star or no star I would I just went in TODAY to see about some glasses the only hospitable person in there was hannai (spell check) the man and woman who worked there when I called had the worlds worst attitudes snapped me up and claimed all the glasses online weren't available not even for order because they were all discontinued if that's the case then lenscrafters should be out of business! I had 1700 to spend on two pairs of glasses eye exams and contacts but I will be taking myself and mother to the one in Rochester Hills tomorrow where when I called to inquire about glasses they were polite and nice when you called and made you feel welcome. Also, went for a contacts/glasses exam, took my prescription to buy contacts from Costco, and it turns out I wasn't even given my contacts prescription! I then tried to have it faxed to Costco two (!) different times, but nothing. Was told it was sent, nothing ever came through. I won't be returning. read more

i went to lenscrafters last summer. the service was so bad, i am now writing a review almost a year later. it all started off nice. my insurance was going to cover most of the price. i made an appt. two weeks in advance. i called lenscrafters and asked if it was the one in southfield and the receptionist told me yes. they have two southfield locations. i arrived for my appt. 20 minutes early and was told i was at the wrong location, but she had a cancelation and would be able to fit me in to a 2:30 spot. i told her that it was cool with me, but if it was an incovenience i could go to the one i accidently made an appt at. it was only 10-15 minutes away. she told me to just stay and they would take care of me. i waited 40 minutes and was told that they were behind and the man that had the 2:45 appt was going to be taken in first because he had an appt. i got slightly angry, but sat in my chair waiting. after an hour the doctor came out and began to talk to the receptionist. if you've been to lenscrafters you would know there are no walls. it's very easy to hear anything anyone says. the doctor asked who was next and the receptionist said me. he starting getting bitchy about me being a "walk-in" and told her to make me wait. well, bitchy juston came out. i walked up to them. i said in a not so nice tone that if they planned on talking shit about their customers maybe they should do it in the back room. i also told him that i made an appt and the receptionist offered me an appt so i am not a "walk-in". he took me in and started his kiss ass speech. i just waited for the glasses to be done. after the exam i picked my glasses. i was told they would be done in two hours and i told the lady that i would leave work early to pick them up before they closed. went in to pick them up and they weren't done. one of their machines was broken. she told me they were fixing it and i could wait. i waited 30 minutes and finally got up ask what was taking so long and the receptionist told me there was no way they were going to fix the machine before they closed. i got bitchy again. i asked why she didn't tell me that when i was sitting across the room from her. i also may have told them how horrible their service is. so the next day i pick up my glasses. i like them; they're cheap. i go see madonna at ford field. i can't see shit. i can see better without my glasses. it's like looking through a murky pond. i call lenscrafters again in the morning. the woman tells me i have to get used to my glasses. i tell her, no i can't see. she tells me i must be exagerating. i tell her to suck it and drive over to the store. she puts my glasses in a machine and laughs. she tells me the axis of the glasses are off and people with astigmatism can easily have problems if that happens. at this point if looks could kill she would have spontaneously combusted. i unleashed my enitre story on her at that point. she was the manager so i thought maybe i would get a sorry or something. it went something like "this is bullshit, you're service team sucks so bad you should just fire them, i can't believe you're in business, just give me my f-ing glasses so i can see, oh and tell the doctor he's a dick". she handed me a complaint card with a website. love, juston read more

Unbelievable...I've been to two Lens Crafters location and this one is the worse. This location has the most incompetent staff I've ever walked into. I have 100% insurance coverage under Blue Cross and these people couldn't think to just call Blue Care network to verify. Since they have never seen my card before, they automatically ASS-U-ME-D they didn't carry it. Called my provider and they still wouldn't honor it. If the management is not turning much profit from this location...this is a prime example why. Your staff needs training. read more

Staff is extremely rude and inconsiderate. Don't waste your time - and you will waste your time as they don't have any respect for appointment times or your schedule. I had a 12:20 appointment - I work nearby and was going on lunch hour. I called at 12:00 before heading over to make sure things were running on time, was told yes. I arrived at 12:15 for my appointment and got checked in. At 12:20, the doctor came out and called in a gentleman that was already there. Just after, one of the girls called me in to do the eye puff test, etc. I again asked if the schedule was running on time and she said it shouldn't be too long and the guy that got called in was there way early for his appointment - his appointment was later than mine. I commented that appointment times must not be relevant and her answer was that she got me into the testing room quickly. I responded that was well and good except I would still have to wait for someone to be done who's appointment was after mine and that I was on lunch. But ok, I patiently waited and at 12:45, he came out and I figured I'd get called in next. Nope - the doctor called some other guy in. I went back up to the counter and said I could not wait. The girl that did my testing was like ok, whatever. Then some other girl piped in saying that I was being unreasonable in thinking that a 12:20 appointment meant that I would see the doctor at 12:20. I told her that I realize this, but somebody that had an appointment after mine was called in, and then somebody else after that, and that I'd be lucky to be called in by 1:10! She dismissed me again saying that I can't expect them to be accountable for the doctor running late. Well, you see, I called at 12:00 and was told she was on schedule, so yes, I can! Again, schedule at your own risk or if you feel like you have nothing better to do than to sit in an 80 degree waiting room and waste hours of your time that you will never get back!! read more

Just horrible customer service, I wish I could rate them lower then one star. I have been a loyal customer back when they were D.O.C. and spent thousands of dollars on glasses through the years. I bought a pair of high end Cartier frames with Rx lenses, but I still requested he demo lenses that come with the frames, 1st they took a long time to process the order, only to find out there was a problem with my Rx and the lense shape I chose. the sad part about it I had to call them to find out there was a problem. So when they corrected the issue it took another 2 or 3 weeks t receive my glasses. Finally received my glasses but received no lenses that I had requested. I called the store and the representative tells me that they don't supply those lenses. I called again and got another representative who informed me she will check to see if they had the lenses in stock. They had the lenses and I informed her that they will need to be mailed to me as I live out of state. She then informed me that if she mailed them if something happens to the lenses such as they are damaged or loss, I will be held accountable. I was appalled at such ignorance. What company do you know that sends stuff with no insurance? I was insulted by her ignorance. I followed up with the store manager (whom neglected to follow up with me in the first place) to see if the lenses had been mailed out, to my dismay, the representative had not mailed the lenses, at which time she promised to overnight them.. We will see, in any case they will never see another dime of my $$..PS.. I had plans to get my lenses remade in another pair of Cartier frames I have, they didn't even have the courtesy to offer me a discount..Kuddus to Seeyewear in Birmingham for offering to make the lenses at half the cost of Lensecrafters!!!. read more
