I'm so upset with this place, I've never felt so ripped of in my life. I took my kids here to get their eyes check and left with outrageous charges that my insurance does not cover. I would understand if they told me about it before they started but they never mentioned that to me until after the fact. So I usually don't buy glasses here and instead at my local optometrist place. But after my old glasses were scratched and my old place did not carry a lot of different brands, I decided to give lenscrafter a try. Their customer service was excellent without being too overbearing as they give me the time and freedom to browse around trying on different glasses. Currently, they have 50% off certain frames and 30% off all brands. But still, expect to cough up at the very least $300 bucks on frames and lenses, average around $400ish. I still like my old place more in terms of cheaper eye exam ($40). read more

I went in today just to browse and was immediately greeted by the two employees standing at the desk. They looked like they were in the middle of helping others so I began to try on different frames. Maybe a few minutes or so went by and Jessica approached me. She told me there were not any available appointments (understandable because I came in around 330ish) and she offered to schedule me an appointment the very next day. I wasn't sure if they accepted my insurance so I gave her my information to check. Then I was approached by another employee I forgot his name but I think it was Justin. Justin advised me that he was having trouble finding my coverage with my card and asked for some personal information to look it up manually. I provided it and he came back about 10 minutes later stating he was able to find it. He asked me if I would like to fill out my paperwork tomorrow when I go in for my appointment or if I'd like to take care of it now. I told him I'd fill it out now because I'm already here anyway. As I'm filling out the paperwork, Jessica tells me that they had a last minute cancellation and are able to squeeze me in. I probably waited 15-20 minutes before I was taken to the back to do the pretests and exam with the doctor. Jessica did my pretests and she was fantastic! She was very pleasant and took the time to explain the reasoning for each test and what exactly the test would entail. This process was very quick and easy and took about 10 minutes. I waited for the doctor for maybe 3-5 minutes and was greeted by Dr. Kao. She was very nice as well and explained the results of my retinal images and the overall condition of my eyes. She also briefly introduced the idea of contact lens or lasik if I was interested which I appreciated because down the line I might want to do lasik. Afterwards, she took me back out to the floor and had me sit at a desk to wait for an employee to go over the lenses and take measurements. I waited for maybe 10-15 minutes before Jessica came to help me. She was only with me for a minute while she was creating a profile for me. Then the assistant manager, Ivan came and took I over. Ivan was super nice and funny! He also went over everything very thoroughly and made sure to explain the cost of everything before and after the insurance coverage. I spent about just over an hour and a half here which was great because I was expecting to have to come back the next day! I didn't get my glasses because I ordered special lenses but Ivan explained the longest it will take to receive them is 10 business days but I could get them before that. In all, I had a really positive experience! They were friendly, attentive, and professional yet personable. I will post an updated review once I get my glasses but I was very pleased with my visit. I'd like to give them a 1 star, but the service at the actual store was helpful, so they get two. While every one else gets 1 hr glasses, my hubby's takes a week. We've worked with tons of other lens crafters, as they usually come in in less than a week. 1 week comes and goes. No glasses. We call in, told it now takes two weeks (grr). week 2 comes and goes, still no glasses. We call and get told the order was canceled, and they will call us back with another estimate (1 to 2 more weeks). 4 weeks for glasses?! You've got to be kidding me. read more

So took my son back there to get his new lens since his prescription changed. Was helped by manager he told me that we get 20% off of lens since we are using his frames. Left and came back in a hour lens where ready as told gave him his glasses and was told 10 min to fit Lena's in frames. I was sitting there with my 3 boys smallest being 2 and was ready for a nap after 15 min with a 2 year old not being happy I got up and was walking around looking at other kids glasses killing time and found a couple of pair I liked including the exact same ones my son had last time I asked how much are these just being curious and the manager told me they are $100 but all the kids glasses and lenses are 50% off. I said wait couldn't you of told me that earlier I would of received a brand new pair of for $50 less. Nice customer service there thank you. Also I waited another 20 min when he went over and found my sons in a basket. They had been ready for 20 min. How about putting a sticker or something that says customer waiting next time guys. read more

The first time I came here was for my annual eye exam, lense and contact fitting. The doctor said I probably shouldn't be wearing contacts due to a condition in my eyes, so I said ok, we cannot do the fitting today but everything can be submitted through my insurance together so next time I come back it's taken care of. He said I was going to get a referral and eye drops, and that was that. So I went to have dinner since I had to wait for them to change my lenses on my glasses. I kid you not, I waited a total of 3.5-4 hours, roughly. The first hour and a half went by so I decided to call, and they said they were ready and to come on in. I left the restaurant in a hurry and when I arrived I was not greeted, I was simply not acknowledged. I placed back and forth until I grew impatient and had to interrupt someone. Keep in mind this was not a text. This was verified by an employee that my glasses were ready. I left and came back about another hour later. Before I left I was handed a bag, I bought lens cleaner too. When I got home, there was an empty case no cloth to wipe my glasses with my overpriced solution to clean my glasses. What really irritated me was not having my referral or prescription in there. Why weren't these things given to me? That's why I went. I trusted the staff they would do their part, I should have checked but I didn't because we went over everything. This means I cannot trust the staff, I have to double check my order make sure everything is in there, like McDonald's. This should be nothing like that. I'd be embarrassed if this were my business. Last Tuesday I went back to buy contacts. So, assuming everything is taken care of, I still call and verify because I now know they cannot be trusted. I asked several times if it was no charge as I had paid previously and I've done this before at the LensCrafters in West Covina. He said he was sure there was no additional charge so I went ahead to get fitted. All they did was take me to a room and the doctor converted my lens prescription into my contact prescription using a calculator. That's awesome that they're able to do that, but I don't feel that it was accurate. It was different than the other times I've been fitted. They said they were going to order the right ones for me. When I went outside one of the ladies tells me I have to pay so that's where it gets bad. I told her I had spoken to a boy who had verified my information and clarified that it's been taken care of and I owed zero. I was not prepared for $75 out of pocket. If I knew I would have brought it with me or scheduled later through the week. They explained how my insurance works including upper management which didn't want to get involved! This lady who was supposed to be managing the place barely stepped in. She let inexperienced staff handle my claim and she forced the doctor to try and use a code for a discount but she quickly walked away as if she didn't want to deal with me. It's not the doctor's fault. It's not the untrained staff's fault. It's the manager's fault. Instead of walking them through the process she was short and let them deal with an unhappy customer. I'm sorry, but is it not the purpose of a manager to assist unhappy customers? Or do they just watch inexperienced employees struggle as they try to explain something they don't know to customers? Everyone tried to help except for the manager. She could have done more. And she didn't! Instead she insinuated that the doctor wouldn't get paid! Why should the eye doctor be punished for the lower staff's mistakes?? Isn't that illegal?? LensCrafters, you need to get your act together because if you're going to skip out on discounting and not paying an employee for it, or charging customers when you've said there is no charge, be prepared for a major lawsuit. The eye doctor should get paid regardless of the other people's incompetence. And for the rest of the staff? A little bit of advice, since your manager failed to relay how BASIC sales and communication habits impact customers, do not tell customers "I don't know..that's weird." And walk away. It's childish and unprofessional. I don't know what world we live in where it's ok to not properly train your staff how to be courteous and ethical. These kids these days talk to customers like they're at some kind of club. Upper management and the store manager should be ashamed of themselves. I'm never coming back, I do not like how they run this place as it is very unfair to the staff and the doctors. I hope the woman who looked at my lens prescription and figured out my contact prescription (although not accurate..) gets compensated. And I hope they train their staff to behave like adults, instead of high school students. I don't want adults that act like children dealing with my insurance or my eyes. I need a professional who knows what they are doing. Someone who takes their job serious. read more

Bad idea to come here! I came in to see if I could get the lenses replaced from my current frames with a new prescription lense. I told her they were my favorite frames and that I didn't want to have to buy a new frame. Employee said she thought they could and would try removing the lenses to see if it would be possible. She went to the lab and was out of sight for the next 20-30 minutes. She came back only to tell me the lab broke my frames while trying to remove the lenses from the frames. No apology, just that I would need a new frame. I said, "You just broke my frames" (almost about to cry) " well what can you do about this now that you have broken my frames?" She left only to bring back a small blue paper that had a name and phone number of a frame doctor that could fix them. She didn't seem to care, no sympathy! No eye contact. The customer service was horrible. What would have been professional to say even before she took my glasses back to the lab is..." Oh, before I take your glasses back to the lab there is a chance the frames could brake in the process of removing the lenses..do you still want me to try?" Instead she said take the glasses to this guy and he can fix them for you at no charge. So I took them to the frame doctor and he just laughed saying there is nothing I can do and that they should have not told you it was free of charge. I believe lens crafters new there wasn't anything they could do for me so they just sent to another guy to have him say the same thing. What fools! Lens crafted employees are immature and very unprofessional! Don't make the same mistake I made by going there! I will never again step foot in that store but only spread the word of their horrible customer service. read more

Sometimes and lately not everyday in our lives, you can run into someone who really makes your day amazing. Today, was that day for me (and my husband). I have been trying just about everything to "fix" my husbands really old glasses he broke several months ago. We have taped them, glued them and just about MacGyver'd them so he could wear them. We are beyond "broke" and just simply cannot justify new frames right now. So on a whim I drove to Lens crafters at westminster mall to see what they could do. I was greeted by Nick R. and at the first greeting he was cordial but said he couldn't do anything, and had referred me to a repair place. Well that didn't work out too well so I went back to lens crafters and saw Nick again. He went out of his way to figure something out, I truly believe he really didn't have to do this, and he spent a long time to fix my husbands glasses, I am truly amazed and so extremely grateful for his time and effort. Great service! Pleasant, polite, professional = perfect for me! Over the years I've been a customer of the Long Beach and Huntington Beach locations as well. This location in Westminster will now be my preferred choice. Bonus was that due to the options I added to my prescription, my lenses were supposed to be ready in 2 weeks. Ugh. They contacted me 6 days later to stop by for my lenses and it took about 15-20 mins for them to replace the lens in my current frame. Nice! The shop is in the mall, right by the mall entrance, literally one of the first shops, so it's quite convenient to get in. read more

It's been 8 years since I've been to the eye doctor. I was really impressed by how friendly the staff was and was willing to answer all of my questions. Then I got to meet Dr Elaine Kao she went over my exam with me. Made a point to listen to me answer my questions. Explain why my eyes are the way they are. And she had a sense of humor. When was the last time you saw a doctor with one of those. Lol she even gave me her card. Saying please try them out and if for any reason they don't seem right bring them back. Giving a 1 star is being generous. This was one of the most horrific guest service experiences I have ever had. I had gone in for a pricing information, after getting an estimation on lenses and frames I chose to go ahead and do a walk in appointment. After having that all done I was pawned off on 4 different people because no one wanted to do a special order, including the supervisor. I was then told that they would not call other local stores because they did not have time to be put on hold. Finally after all this, the actual final price was about $500, which was about $200 more than what they originally told me. Then at this point the associate then asked " So I assume you will be paying with insurance." Once I explained it would be out of pocket he then continued to insinuate that I look as though I couldn't afford it by saying, " well you do realize you have to pay for all this upfront right?" Needless to say, I took my money and sale elsewhere. I would never return to this location again. read more

I wish there was a way to give more than five stars. I'm not a regular commenter here, and it takes A LOT to earn one from me, but I have to commend Dr. Ngo and Matthew who work at this location. I went in yesterday because I lost my glasses, and HAD to get new ones before attending an evening event. I figured I would just use my old prescription since I'm planning to get Lasik surgery next year and don't want to waste time or money on a new prescription when hopefully I won't need it for long, but I come to find out that my old one is expired, and they HAVE to do a whole new eye exam in order to make me new glasses. So I agreed because I had no choice, but was super bummed about it and not thrilled to unexpectedly have to take the time to do it or spend the extra money. Well, Dr. Ngo came in, and HUGE coincidence, he was the SAME Dr. I saw in a completely different city three years ago before I moved, and it turns out that he had moved as well! I remember being super impressed with him then, and was even more impressed this time around. He talked to me all about the Lasik surgery and was very encouraging, which I didn't expect (I mean, it's like telling the owner of a candy store that you're diabetic right? basically, that you won't you won't be giving them your patronage anymore) but he answered a bunch of questions for me that I would have had NO idea who to go to to ask, gave me a bunch of advice on how to go about the process, and told me he would take care of all my pre-op info for me when the time comes. He was SO attentive and completely awesome. Matthew who works there and took care of everything else for me was fantastic - I told him I was in a time crunch, and he made sure everything about my appointment went as fast as possible, and was SUPER nice too. These guys made sure that I had my glasses an hour later, plenty of time before my event. If you go to this location (which is SO worth to see Dr. Ngo) ask for Matthew and make sure you get Dr. Ngo - the customer service from these two is STELLAR. I'll be going there for all my eye needs from now on. read more

Today I went to Lenscrafters to see if they could move my old lenses from a broken pair of glasses to a new frame I had purchased. The first lady who assisted me was very nice but told me the lenses could not be transferred, the new frame wouldn't work. I sat disappointed because I had made sure the new frame I purchased was exactly the same as my broken frame. Pondering what to do next, I sat and watched who I now know was Ruth assisting a lady next to me. She was clearly doing everything to make this customer happy. I waiting and watched and then asked for her help. She took the time to explain why the previous rep said the transfer wouldn't work. I said please, is there anything you can do for me. I left the glasses with her and returned to pick them up after work. Ruth fixed them!!!!!! OMG, she made me so happy!!!! These are my VERY FAVORITE glasses and now I have them back! Called in the day before to schedule an appointment and to also have my prescription moved over from the Bella Terra LensCrafters to this one since Bella Terra did not have any openings available for a follow up on contacts. Was told that they would have that information ready to go for me for my 11 am appointment since they open at 10 and it will be handled by the time I arrive. I get there at 10:45am on the day of the appointment and start looking at glasses to assuming that they would have their glasses prescription ready to go. I pick some frames and then wait for a person to help me. Low and behold, they don't have my information. Never even requested it. So at 11:10, they're scrambling to get both contacts prescription and glasses prescription that they were supposed to have back at 10am. So I sit and waste my time as they figure out what to do. A day wasted since they don't know what to do except to apologize and blame the sales person (Alex) who took my call the day prior. Oh and the doctor is running way late. They had to drag her out of an appointment to make the call for the contact lens since it wasn't done at all. Way to make a person feel important. Three stars because Ruth hustled and tried to make it better. And the doctor was very sweet and friendly. The staff is friendly and courteous. Aside from that however, this place is unorganized and a disaster. My husband also attempted to get glasses and they kept pulling up another person's insurance which made no sense. We kept being sent back to his HR to double check his insurance carrier but everything is fine on his side. It's simply LensCrafters. Would be five stars for friendliness and courtesy but as a business it's too disorganized and frustrating for a customer who has to waste a full day on a service that claims to be done in an hour or so... read more

Had my eye exam on January, got my glasses and I was told I could go back anytime for my contact lenses. Now that I went back because I need them they told me I can't because I had to get them the same day as my glasses because of a sitting charge that they had to bill my insurance and now there's nothing they can do. First and last time I go to Lenscrafters. Plus their prices are way higher than any other vision place. read more

I have been visiting this location for years. My family all use them for eye glasses and contacts. Today like normal I phoned to order contacts and was told I could not on the phone and had to come in to do so. Looks like I will be taking my business elsewhere. There are many places I can phone in my order and not have to make 2 trips one to order and one to pick up. LensCrafters must be doing so well they don't need to worry about customer service. read more

My most recent experiences with this store have been disappointing. I went in to get my yearly checkup for my eyes. I requested an eye exam for glasses and contacts. I went on the cheap opting for lenses only and just a contact prescription so that I could get contacts online due to pricing. I have done this for years, this being my 4th visit in as many years. I got my lenses ordered and they were going to order a trial pair of contact lenses for me to verify that the fit was acceptable. I came back in a week later and picked up my glasses. The trial pair of contacts had not come in yet. Went back in a couple of weeks (today), I wasn't sure if the lenses had actually arrived (still no call). The GM greeted me and went into the pickup area and my info and box. She asked me to wait so that she could see if the optometrist was available for the fitting. I informed her I also needed the prescription so that I could order the contacts online her demeanor changed immediately and she disappeared into the back to converse with the optometrist. A few minutes passed and she returned to have me sign the prescription. I asked her if the optometrist needed to see me for the fitting and whether or not I needed the lenses she responded that my prescription did not change from last year to this for my contacts and that I could go (minus the lenses). Not that I care if they give me a trial pair of contact lenses but I understand what happened here. The store gets you in for the fitting and then tries to get you to order the contacts right then on the spot. What I don't understand is why the heck they did it to me when I identified that I wanted only the prescription for my contacts and wouldn't be ordering from Lens Crafters when I initially went in? My eyes did not change for the contact prescription. Why have me come back in for a fitting if the power on either eye for the prescription didn't change and it was for the exact same brand and type contact lens. What kind of scam are they running here? I'm really disappointed to have wasted time leaving work early to just pick up a contact prescription when it could have been provided day one. There are too many places to get your eyes checked and this is the last time I spend my money here. . read more
