Let me start off with the ambiance and environment because this quaint place was gorgeous. We dined outside with a beautiful view and it was quite perfect for date night. I started with a pineapple margarita which was tasty and had a smoky Tajín rim which was a nice surprise. We indulged in the crab cakes which were very flavorful and crispy with a fantastic remoulade. These were easily my favorite item and I could have eaten 5 more orders. The squeeze of lemon was delightful and brought all the flavors together beautifully. The main dish of seafood risotto was delicious as well and incredibly flavorful. I enjoyed the oil/sauce the meal was served on and every bite was fantastic. My only disappointment was the size of the entrees as they were small portions. The burger was also fantastic although the size was on the smaller side and there were not a lot of potato wedges included. Overall I loved this place and the service was great. The atmosphere was lively as they had live music playing which was a nice touch. I'm excited to try more dishes from this cute little restaurant. read more

What could you improve? The food. Don't say you are serving a "smoked pork chop" when it is clearly slices of over-done pork loin. Nothing about it was smoked. The meat was incredibly dry and frankly, unappetizing. The asparagus was good though. Evidently whoever was working the kitchen tonite doesn't know how to properly prepare short ribs. Those served this evening hadn't been browned at ALL and frankly the meat was rather grey. It was tender, but flavorless. The menu said it would be served with demi glace, but what showed up was watery gravy. Needless to say, tonite's birthday dinner was incredibly disappointing. Probably not coming back..... read more

What a beautiful place! The restaurant is airy and comfortable; in good weather the deck has a lovely view. Laura, the server, is in a world class of her own. She practically dances through busy times, helping everyone kindly and cheerfully, as if each of us was the most important person in her day. Quite extraordinary, really, because she's also very efficient and fast. The food was about average for a family restaurant. A bit disappointing, considering the price. The Chicken Piccata had a surprising amount of gristle. Served over a mild sauced pasta and garnished with four pieces of grilled asparagus of wonderful flavor. The $24 burger had a smallish meat patty but was tasty and well prepared. Served plain, without garnish or side. So three stars balancing the amazing staff and ambiance with the just ok food, but we'll go back, and I'm sure we will enjoy ourselves. read more

We started with the steamed mussels, a staple on this island, which are excellent. Chef Kyle steams them in a red wine based sauce, instead of the traditional white, and they are excellent. Our entree was the seafood risotto. It was delicious! This restaurant is also a winery, and they do a very good job. The service is great (ask for Laura), and if you have an early dinner, try a table outside in their beautiful garden. Or check their website. Ambiance is beautiful. Lovely building, spacious. Food was delicious! Service -- people all very good humored and nice. But food came out very, very slowly, and there weren't many people there to be served. Had to ask for coffee refills and go to counter to pay. Maybe needed an extra wait-person, and I think our waitress got sent to store for Orange Juice. No one attending to dining room while she was gone. So I'd say go and expect it to be slow. Go with people you like and order a drinks or something to share. Expect to be served "on Island time." Food was enjoyable and I'd go back if wanting that leisurely upscale meal. read more

One of my favorite places to eat in Freeland, with excellent food and ambiance. Laura takes great care of us when we dine in, especially our 18 month old daughter. My go-to meal is always Salmon Caesar and this was the best I've had. The salmon cut was succulent and had beautiful swirls which I've never seen before. The Caesar dressing had a hint of brown mustard which will become a staple in my homemade dressings. The romaine was crisp and green. The rest of my party raved about their meals (and bloody marys) too. They readily accommodated one of our party's gluten-free requirements so she could have the eggs Benedict. Food was really good. We had the crab cake appetizer, beet and burrata , and pear appetizer and they were incredible. The crab tasted really fresh and was full of crab meat, and the pear dish was really unique with a creamy sauce. For dinner we had the beef gnocchi and it was to die for, the meat was very tender and the gnocchi tasted homemade-- there weren't very many gnocchi in it though but I was so full from my other apps that I was fine. We also the chicken bulgogi and that was great, and then my fiancé had a fish and shrimp dish I can't remember the name however the dish only came with one shrimp which was kinda lame but again we were so full after everything else it was fine. I had a Bloody Mary for my drink and it was terrible, I am not a drinker so I get virgin ones but it was straight up tomato juice, no flavor at all in it. And I asked for it spicy and instead I was given two Tabasco packets on the side. Main downside of the place was the waitress was really short and wasn't the friendliest. She just had an attitude about herself like she didn't want us to be there. read more

our group of 8 had a reservation for over 2 months. it was a Wed. night. we arrived to find last minute live music, which really hampered our ability to talk. but worse, even though somewhat busy with drinker/appetizer eaters due to the music, they were OUT of 4-5 main items such as scallops, beef, chicken....we were there at 6:30 (and they are expecting our larger group). So no seafood risotto unless you wanted all shrimp, for example. The cute older waitress (in our age range) seemed to be alone and did her best. we were SOOO glad this was not our group's culminating event celebrating 2 of us having a milestone birthday (yes, they were aware of that, too). consistency is key in the business. We had a lovely late lunch at Leo and Leto's! We had the outdoor balcony all to ourselves and our server Laura was incredibly friendly. When she learned we were celebrating a birthday, she brought us flowers to take home and complimentary ice cream! Very accommodating to the baby and kid in our party. Wow this place is a must try!! We came up to Whidbey Island for a day trip, started at Double Bluff beach and looked for a place close by for lunch/brunch! The food was absolutely delicious, as well as great wine/cocktail options!! The service was wonderful and accommodating, they let us sit on the back patio with two dogs (even offered bowls of water which I thought was amazing). I can't wait to come back here! We tried Leo & Leto's Winery and Bistro for a family celebration and were very impressed. The menu has 7 varied appetizers, We started with a savory poached pear which was a thick slice of pear poached in Syrah reduction and plated with a half cup of lustrous Gorgonzola sauce and crisped prosciutto with a sliced loaf of fresh bread. We cleaned the plate with the last slice of bread. We added the Penn Cove mussels which were plump and fresh, the beef bourguignon in a wonderful red wine reduction, the ahi tatami, 2 oz. sliced, perfectly seared, and fresh, the antipasto board which included a 2 inch burrata, a 1/2 inch thick wedge of of rosemary flavored cheddar as well as slices of cured ham, pickled green beans, olives, sliced strawberry and roasted almonds, and the crab cakes. The latter were 2 three inch by 3/4 inch thick, moist, and flavorful. Our dinners were all delightful. They included a seafood wedge salad which was 1/2 head of romaine with blue cheese and bacon crumbles and creamy blue cheese dressing with 2 large shrimps and 2 large seared scallops; the sweet chili chicken salad with grilled chicken on mixed greens, onion, radish, strawberry, cucumber, and chèvre with a soy vinaigrette; 6 perfectly seared 1 inch wide scallops; a sesame crusted red snapper fillet; and a mixed seafood risotto. All were perfectly cooked, fresh and presented artfully. We finished with a dark chocolate mousse that was creamy, dense and slightly bitter sweet. Seating was spacious and comfortable , noise level was low with multiple sound deadening baffles, service was prompt, informed, and professional. They were willing to make modifications like subbing gf bread. We are all eagerly waiting for the next chance to go back. read more

Took a chance and stopped for Dinner. We scored big time! Food, wine, and service were all fabulous. Their homemade Clam Chowder was full of clams and the broth was perfect, not to heavy nor to watery. We ate outside on the deck and it was delightful. The inside was packed with people and everyone seemed to be having a great time. We will definitely be back. Want to try out their brunch on the weekends for sure. read more

Very disappointing. Ambiance is similar to a high school cafeteria. Server wreaked of cannabis, which might explain why he forgot to bring the drinks we ordered and the food was cold. A cold hamburger served with cold shoestring fries for $24 - unacceptable and outrageous. Will never go back. Plus, a car fire in the parking lot resulted in a very unpleasant aroma throughout the meal. Not that they could do much about it, but it did put a real capper on the experience. read more
