I've hired Leo before. Great experience, great job. Recommended him for 5 years. Hired him again for another project. Absolute nightmare. Chased after him for a install date. He finally schedules one only to cancel night before. Doesn't return calls, ignores messages and I FINALLY get another install date ( this is now 3 MONTHS waiting, because I can understand issues come up) I hire people to empty my kitchen and the night before install he says he hasn't heard from his guy. Then stops responding. Install day rolls around. No install. No phone call. No returning messages. And my house is torn apart. I had to get someone else and pay double because of his nonsense. I was referred to Leo by a close friend. Called him, took about a week to come by due to his busy schedule. I wanted to have the carpet removed from my upper level/stairs risers installed and wood floors installed. He came over on a Monday 7/25 evening and on Thursday 7/28 was scheduled for the job. Leo and his crew were complete professionals and did a great job adding hardwood to my house. I had received 4 different estimates that I had found on Craigslist and definitely feel I made the right choice. Leo made a great impression on me and it was obvious he knew what he was doing. As promised, there were no increases from the estimate he provided. His crew completed about 750 sq ft. and a staircase in a single day. One section of my floor was a bit uneven and he was able to level it off perfectly, the other larger section that was uneven wasn't really something he could fix and I can't really fault him for that. Given the amount of work involved and the crew size I feel his price was very reasonable. If you are interested in adding hardwood to your home, do yourself a favor and at least give Leo a call. You will quickly understand what I mean when I said he is knowledgeable and the best part is he came through with everything he said. If I ever hear of anyone interested in getting hardwood installed I will surely refer them to SWAT flooring. read more

As a new homeowner and someone who has been working with a lot of home repair contractors as of late, I was pleasantly surprised with not only the professional demeanor but the overall quality of service and workmanship that Leo Gutiereez of SWAT Flooring provided me with when installing my new hardwood floors. To say that Leo was a breath of fresh air in comparison to the other contractors that I have worked with would be an understatement..... here's why: He was professional (on time, responsive, sensitive to time deadlines, knowledgable about the relevant products), courteous (respectful of customer's personal items belongs and their schedule and even get this - lo and behold - something that every contractor should do but never seems to - he cleaned up after the job was finished!), and did I mention that the final product, my brand new Kensal hardwood floors, right down to the finishings and shoe molding, were as perfect as it gets??? Unlike some contractors, he didn't skip steps or cut corners, he was very detail oriented about the installation of my flooring... - and he will be for yours too! Finally - and here is the litmus test for anybody you encounter in the buisness world - I would refer him to friends and acquaintances and be happy to do business with him again. read more

I would definitely NOT recommend using Leo Gutierrez (i.e. SWAT Flooring)! He and his team did such a sloppy job -with multiple areas of hollow/spongy flooring, weird gaps between floor boards, boards splitting apart, glue showing out from under transition pieces, shoemolding popping up in places, and in some places, he left the shoemolding just lying there not attached! Above all that, his team broke the glass window in our door. This was back in early November and Leo said he would come back later that week to replace the glass...However, months later, after countless unanswered calls, texts, and letters, we were still left with a broken window. It has not only been a safety hazard he's left us with, but also cost us hugely increase energy bills during these cold winter months. We came to realize that Leo was never coming back and so we had to bear the cost of his team's carelessness. Leo clearly does not care about the quality of his work and will just take your money and run. read more

Yesterday we had a call from Leo concerning our scratch on the floor. It seems that he had to take some time off for family matters and was delayed in getting back to us. He and his crew came out this morning and were able to rectify the problems. Our floor now looks much better and we are satisfied. We had our entire first floor replaced by SWAT Flooring. It was 760 sq feet and required tearing up old carpet and laminate. We were disappointed with the job. One of the kitchen cabinets was damaged and was not secured to the wall. The flooring around and behind the refrigerator was poorly installed. We can see the green underlayment and the old sub-flooring. The shoe molding was not cut accurately. Some of it was too long and some too short. The casings in the interior doorways were cut too high, leaving a large gap between the casing and the floor. This left an overall sloppy appearance. However, the biggest issue is a large scrape across 10 planks of flooring in the middle of the kitchen floor. The refrigerator had been pulled out from the wall to work around it and when it was pushed back into place there must have been some debris caught on one of the wheels and it left a large noticeable scrape. We thought it was dirt and it would be fine when we cleaned the floor. That night we cleaned it and found that it was a scrape and not dirt. We took pictures of it and sent them to Leo. He promised to come back and fix it. We have left him several messages and it has been more than a month and he has yet to return to fix the flooring. read more

Leo Destroyed our new home. We hired Leo and his crew to install new wood floors at our new home. They completed the job in one day, covered the floors with protective paper and asked for a full payment. We sent the payment in good faith, and a few weeks later we removed the paper.... Needless to say, the floors were completed installed wrong...there are 1mm gaps in floors and they are cut short along walls. I called Leo and asked him to come out and take a look. He said it wouldn't be a problem...said he was sorry and he would be out that day. NO show all day, no return call....I called and text him the following Monday and again no call/text back...finally mid week he text me and asked if I would be onsite on Sunday...I agreed to meet him and send a confirmation text on Saturday night...It is Sunday night, no call, no text...I wasted my whole day waiting for him again.... He is a dishonest man, and the work he performs is unacceptable...Please do yourself a favor and DO NOT use SWAT.. unless you want your floors completely messed up. Leo is the real thing. Professional. Excellent craftsmanship. Good suggestions and nice fit / finish. His crew installed 3,200 square feet of hardwood into our home over the last several years, with 800 feet most recently. Leo saved us a TON of money on the hardwood itself by recommending comparable alternatives to what we chose. About the only constructive feedback I would say is that he is so good that his team is stretched thin. It sometimes takes a while to get a reply to things, but you can depend that they will get the job done and get it done well if you can be patient. It's tough when you are as good as they are because they are in high demand, especially given their reasonable pricing. They get 5 stars from me. They are top notch installers. One month ago, I was reviewing this same site, trying to figure out what contractor I should use to install my hardwood floors. I needed someone to also remove my tile in my kitchen and was having a hard time finding a contractor that included that in their services. Leo, the owner, did the initial estimates and even agreed to have his team remove the tile for a very fair price. He couldn't have been easier to work with. He was so knowledgeable and truly cared about me being pleased once the job was finished. When the demo/installation day arrived, I was so surprised at the TEAM (7 workers plus Leo) that arrived at my house. I was having engineered hardwood floors installed in my kitchen, dining room, great room, stairs, and upstairs hallway.The team worked in all areas of my house. It was exciting. Tile and carpet was being removed, cleaning and hauling away was happening, and then beautiful floors were installed. The team was unbelievable. They worked very well together and continuously helped each other. I am not saying that my house was not torn up, but only that day, you would have never known all that work had occurred in my home by that evening. They did not leave until every piece of furniture was put back in place and had protective felt pieces on the legs to prevent the wood from being scratched. I even had an emergency plumbing issue with my refrigerator that day. Leo personally went and bought the supplies needed to fix the problem so that the water would not ruin my new floors. I counted Mr Gutierrez about 1.5 weeks ago and to give him credit he called very quickly and came out on a Sunday morning I found very impressive. He did all his measurements and we discussed what I wanted done and he said he was fine with the job, I told him if he did me good on this job I would have the upstairs to be done in hard woods within a year and he would have the job, before he left he wrote out what needed to be done on a quote sheet and said I receive the official quote in a few hours, this is where things go downhill. Being a Sunday I didn't expect anything from him and he also needed to get prices and stores were closed so I gave him till Monday for him to send it, waited all day but got nothing so I texted him asking where the quote was, this was late in the evening as he should have been home from work but got no response. Tried several texts and calls on Tuesday with not one return call or text from him, Wednesday morning I get a text from him telling I would get quote via email within 10 minutes waited but nothing so I texted him to let him know nothing was received, never got a response so I called and got voice mail left message. Was finally able to reach him later in the day and he said he did not know what was wrong with his email I told to just cut & paste to text and send to me, what I got was a text was a price breakdown for he job, at this point I was getting frustrated but I accepted the price quote and told him so, he asked in another text when we could meet at the store to choose the product I suggested the next day and asked him what time was good, this was the last I heard from him. This past Thursday I left him a voicemail letting him know how I felt and if I did not hear back from him by last evening he was obeying let go and I would look for another contractor, what a shock never heard from him. read more

What an incredible experience having Leo and his crew do my floors! From helping me to understand what I wanted, finding the right wood, arranging for pick up and delivery, managing to operate within my budget, to completing the work smoothly and with great quality and in a super fast manner...it was an incredible and rewarding experience. They spent a day at the house, and when leaving, everything in the 1100 sq ft area (in two floors) including the staircase was clean and beautifully completed.
