Empanada
Melanie S.

Delicious, fair priced food! No frills breakfast spot, the woman working was friendly and welcoming. They were pretty busy but the food was worth the wait. This is a place you definitely come to sit and enjoy the food and conversation of people you are with. The food was delicious, I wanted to try a bit of everything I got a cup of coffee, mangu, empanada and pancakes. Only $23 for all that in this economy!! I will be back. The coffee was hot and fresh, mangu was creamy with savory salty sausage, cheese with acidic pickled onions and rich dippy eggs (my preferred way they are cooked) the pancakes were lightly crisped on the topped and perfectly fluffy on the inside and served with real butter. I can't tell you how gross it is getting a side of fake butter at diner that just tastes like crisco so I was very delighted by the butter haha. The empanada was packed with flavor and I loved their hot sauce! I will be back and I highly recommend great little spot!

What a wonderful addition to the community. This local breakfast/lunch spot has tasty food items and wonderful friendly service. There is plenty of street parking. I had a cheese omelet with home fries which were tasty. I just HAD to try the plantains and oh my goodness. This is my new local lunch spot! I'll be back (soon)!

We came in on a whim craving breakfast food in the afternoon and Leo's did not disappoint. The host was immediately welcoming and very polite. 10/10 when it came to service. The coffee was strong and maybe had a hint of cinnamon to it? DELICIOUS. A must to accompany your meal. The empanadas were nice and crispy with great flavor. I ordered the Mexican omelette which was spicy enough without their salsa, but the salsa had such a great flavor I had to use it. Everything is freshly made and it shows. My husband ordered the Mangu, which we've never had before, and everything on the plate was a 10/10. The fried cheese??? Amazing. Plantains, with a little salt added, were perfection. I need everybody to know this is a must try in Lansdowne.

Vegetable omelette and grits

This is a very small place but really excellent! The food was so plentiful I ended up taking half of the omelette home. The grits were great, with cheese melted into them. The house-made hot sauce is very flavorful and spicy. The service was great - friendly and welcoming! And the prices were great too!

Clean place. Pleasant service. A/c works well. Mushroom omelette w cheese is my fave. Western w cheese is good too. They are popular for the empanadas although some call them pasteles. I like the beef and cheese. The lunch special grilled chicken w salad, beans and rice is another favorite. Weekdays only for the lunch specials. Minor lighting changes would eliminate the ceiling-fan strobe effect, making this gem closer to flawless. GO Team Leo's!

Maduros

I liked this spot. This is a very clean restaurant. Extremely warm and friendly service. We visited here after church on Sunday and enjoyed a late breakfast. There is space for seating, but it can fill up very fast. I thought breakfast was good (coffee, bacon egg and cheese sandwich, and maduros). Nothing too fancy, but you definitely won't go hungry.

I've been there twice recently for breakfast. Both times the service was excellent. They are always ready with a refill for your coffee. The eggs are always perfectly over easy and home fries are yummy. Sparkling clean environment. A welcome addition to Lansdowne!

Delicious food, great service, and clean. The waitstaff are so polite, and the Latin offerings make it a great place for brunch.

Heard about this place as a hidden gem for breakfast, but this rating is for lunch. The location…read morewasn't too difficult to find thanks to the map, but it is slightly off the beaten path for sure. The guy working in the kitchen was very nice and recommended a cheesesteak for lunch. Amoroso rolls were what he told me they use for bread. They have several tables for dine in and the place was well heated for a cold winter day. It was simple and clean inside. My cheesesteak was average, it was pretty greasy and flavor wise wasn't bad. I'm not a huge fan of amoroso rolls for cheesesteaks, the grease also soaked into the roll quite a bit. The portion size was small, but the for the price I think it was on par. I think I paid just under $6 for the sandwich. I'll have to return for breakfast which seems to have much better reviews!

The GPS will direct you to take the unpaved ominous looking road of 'Calcon Hook' but it's not the only way in Chester Pike to Sharon Avenue is an alternative. Once you locate the restaurant it will remind you of a trailer, in a movie about construction workers. Inside it's spacious with plenty of seating and fairly clean considering the age and lack of updates. On this date I'll give a little leeway to service because the cook was in the hospital and the lady 'owner' was alone. But I'm here to tell you she worked that grill, those phone calls, the counter and tables! I ordered the hungry man special 3 eggs, home fries, 2 sausage, 2 bacon, 2 French Toast and 2 pancakes all for $6.99! It was good and plentiful. Each item was enjoyable. I have to say I had several cups of coffee and it's some of the best around. Next time I'll bring a book to read as I sip my coffee and wait!

This was a really great spot. My coworker and I were over in North Jersey for work but flew in and out of PHL rather than facing Newark. In order to beat the crazy construction traffic outside of Philly and to have a buffer for whatever TSA nightmare we were going to face, we got back near the airport early... like 4 1/2 hours before our flight kind of early. I wanted breakfast outside of the airport so I found this spot while he was refilling the rental car. I got the French toast with homefries. The french toast was perfect, with just a tiny bit of crisp in spot from the griddle. Same with the homefries. I would have liked a bit more seasoning while they were cooking, but a bit of salt and pepper and I was good to go. My coworker got the big breakfast but subbed out the homefries for corned beef hash. While I'm not a fan of corned beef hash, it looked exactly like how my mom and grandfather like it, with a little bit of crisp to it. The pancake was huge and he said his over medium eggs were cooked exactly like he hoped they would be. Now I just need to plan out my flights so I can come get breakfast here again and try one of the sandwiches, or omelettes, or maybe get French toast again...

She picked this place and we headed over to West Philly to check em out. The restaurant is situated at the corner, with signage that makes it noticeable enough so you know where it is when driving up pr passing by. Inside it is to large, but the setup is in a way that doesn't make it feel crowded - some cafe wooden tables (a few two-seaters and a couple four-six seaters) and some countertop seating like a diner. The staff are all cool, down to earth people working hard to serve the people and give the best service as possible - we had a fun moment with two of them and they made sure to check on us throughout our meal.. As for the food - it was very good and I was happy with my choice. Because they had a specialty menu based on one of my have artist (Jay-Z), I had to get something off of that menu. There were a couple of chickens that caught my but I ended up going with the "Lobster & Scrimp" which was a shrimp and grits entree that also included lobster. My friend also got the #3 option from the specialty menu (think of his song about certain people in a French city ) which was a variation of a French toast. Our food was served at the perfect temperature, good portion size and had a good flavor/taste to it. For drinks, she got the Peach Lavender Lemonade and I ordered the complimentary drink from the specialty menu - the "D.O.A" which was a dragon fruit and orange aperol spritz. I'm not normally a spritz person, but this one wasn't bad and I actually enjoyed/drank it all; I think the dragon fruit taste added something extra to it for me. Good spot for brunch/breakfast. Look forward to coming back to try out more dishes from here.
