I wanted to give 4 and a half stars but couldn't…read more This spot was a recommendation from a vendor, who took co-workers there for lunch. I called 2 days in advance to see if it was possible to get a table for 3 on a Saturday night for a 50th birthday dinner. I knew the chances were slim but I had to try. The girl who answered the phone (Amy), said they had seating on Friday night, Saturday was booked. So I took the reservation, not knowing much about the place. After reading reviews in different places, I had learned that they have a DJ on Friday nights. I was looking for a quieter type of dinner so I called back to inquire. The 2nd person (Evelyn) confirmed that they have a DJ that usually starts at 730pm on Friday nights. After a short chat, she changed my reservation to an earlier time so we could enjoy our meal without feeling like we're in the club! ;-) Both gals were patient and kind with our first timer questions. We arrived a little earlier than our reserved time (close to 6pm) and the parking lot had lots of open spaces. We parked and we were greeted by a nice woman who looked happy that we arrived early. We had planned to sit and wait, being that it was a Friday. But we were led to a table right away by a gentleman who looked to be a manager? He didn't say anything but we later saw him walking the room delegating, so to speak. Our 4 seater table was smack dab in the middle of a huge, high ceiling, open concept room that was filled with very long banquet tables. Each table was set for what looked like celebrations. There were a few other smaller tables. Parties were happening at some of the long tables and some of the smaller tables were filled with families that had kids. It was a bit loud but tolerable. We could hear one another speak just fine. Our waitress Alisha came over after a bit to greet us. She took drink orders as we explained it was out 1st time there and we were celebrating a 50th birthday. She was very busy handling one of the larger tables next to us, but we were never ignored. On the table was an open glass bottle of filtered water that was not very chilled. We poured ourselves and it was refilled without us asking by runners. Also on the table was seasoned olive oil for dipping bread. I didn't like that it was already there when we sat down, exposed to the air for who knows how long. But.....all was forgiven when the basket of warm bread came out. It was some of THE best table bread I have ever had. Alisha said it was their pizza dough. I could have eaten that all night and been satisfied. We had to stop ourselves! We each looked over the menu for a bit and ordered just entrees because of the bread! - One order of Ossobuco off the specials menu that came with paparadelle in a brown gravy like sauce. - One order of Filet of Sole Oreganata & Shrimp over sautéed spinach off the regular menu. (Both entrees came with a salad, choice of garden or caesar. The garden salad comes already mixed in their dressing. I ordered the dressing on the side. Good size, spring mix, very fresh). - The tweenager ordered mozzarella sticks appetizer as their dinner. It took a little bit for the food to come out but we were happy about that. We got to admire the greatness of the room. The huge photos on the wall, the birthday celebrations, the food coming and going (including massive amounts of take out orders). It was a well oiled machine and we enjoyed watching it all transpire. The birthday acknowledgement is a thing in itself. We had NO idea but it was all about to go down for us the same way after we ate! First a super loud speaker blasts a birthday song, then the other people dining in the restaurant stop what they're doing and start spinning their napkins in the air, while the wait staff brings over a dessert with a big flaming sparkler in it. How embarrassingly awesome! Which brings us to the dessert. A mint tartufo (Amazing). Also ordered to go, was a tiramisu (it was "ok"). No desserts made in house. By the time we got up to leave, the place was packed and the bar was full. As was the parking lot. Side note: due to Mother's Day being the week before, there was a schedule change and there was no DJ. Food = 4 stars. Piping hot and fresh but no wow factor with flavors. (Except for that bread!) Service = 5 stars Experience/Ambiance = 5 stars Points off for the parking lot being full of huge pot holes. I'm sure that could be fixed with the revenue being brought in. Water was warm-ish, apple juice was over iced and watered down, and bread dipping olive oil was out on the table before we sat down. We had no idea this was a chain of restaurants with other locations! All in all, we look forward to going back again and trying more food!

This place moves at a fast pace so I would recommend looking at the menu ahead of time! However regardless of what you order, it's going to be amazing. Now, I knew nothing about Mezza Luna, never heard of it or looked for reviews first, so I had no idea what the night would bring! We called from the car to make sure they were still serving dinner, the owner answered and told us he would have a table ready when we arrived. My first thought... impressive and a very nice man! We found the restaurant, pull into the parking lot, it was so full we literally got the last spot! My second thought....it's going to be an expensive night, but I was looking forward so I was prepared, it was pay day! LOL! The owner greeted us as we walked in, Mezza Luna is a classy, romantic restaurant with a warm, comfortable feel to it! I already had the feeling anything we ordered would be extremely well prepared and delicious, I was right! Friday evenings there is live music! A guy playing an acoustic guitar was set up in a nice spot when we walked in, very talented and played some great classic rock songs! Our table was perfect, could easily seat four people! Right away, glasses of ice water were served with a basket of fresh semolina bread! Our waiter, Fred, came over shortly after. I have to say the service is superb! He was very courteous and attentive throughout the evening! I can't even count how many times someone came to our table to fill our glass with water! The menu is very nice, you will without a doubt find any of your favorite dishes to choose from. Decisions, decisions, decisions...It was tough but I went with the Filet of Sole Francaise. My daughter chose a pasta dish. Fred read off the specials, all great choices, but I still ordered my favorite dish! However, beef barley soup was part of the specials so I ordered that. It was over the top delicious and a nice size serving! They don't skimp on anything, lots of beef with tiny pasta and vegetables. Even though finely chopped so no big pieces, there was a big taste of everything in each spoonful. I finished it all! The presentation was also beautiful and served piping hot! As everything on the menu is ala carte, your dish comes as is, so we didn't order any pasta or appetizers. It was a little pricey but believe me, it won't matter to you! The portions are big enough and a complimentary bowl of fresh mixed vegetables are served with your dinner. The francaise sauce was perfection and my fish was succulent, very fresh! My daughter enjoyed her pasta dish tremendously! There is always room for dessert, even though I felt like I couldn't eat another bite, I couldn't pass up dessert. My favorite was one of the choices (of course it was) but so were 3 or 4 others. They offer two kinds of tartufo which was a first for me! I went with the tiramisu! It was one of the best I ever had! It was so over the top delicious I finished it all!! Last nights dinner was one of the best I have had in a long time, even better than the Country House, where we went for Easter! This was just different, a very elegant experience. I highly recommend Mezza Luna. Especially if you have a SO, you must dine here! I will absolutely be back soon, not one negative about the evening I can think of, it was really a perfect night!

It's beautifully pillowy with a crisp undercarriage. It's perfectly oily without being greasy. It's (IMO) too saucy which tends to make it a little sloppy but it's a balanced sauce of sweet and tart with just the right amount of cheese. Their regular pie is a benchmark pie for Long Island pizza. It's just right. No notes. The chicken parm and meatball parm heroes are also benchmark sandwiches. I judge all heroes against theirs. Personally, I prefer the chicken parm, but it's a 1A/1B situation. There's no wrong choice. My only complaint would be that I wish they were a little bit larger.

It means buyer beware. But when it comes to dishes, you might have noticed there is no pasta with my Chicken Parm. That's because the Chicken Parm is $32 freaking dollars if you order it with pasta. The owner and staff seem super friendly, but I have never in my life seen this price for Chicken Parm and pasta. I told the owner that and he said it's $16 and change for the Chicken Parm and $15 and change for the pasta. If you don't know, after alcohol, an Italian restaurant's biggest profit margin is pasta. For this restaurant, it might be number one. Pasta is incredibly cheap to make so the markup here is beyond insane. The price for pasta is so high that they almost definitely miss the ideal price point. In other words, this price will drive down orders and keep customers away. At a lower price point, it will drive more groups of people spending more money. Aside from that, the food is excellent and I still recommend this place. It really is great food. Just don't order pasta.

During dinner, a waiter accidentally spilled ketchup all over my daughter's white dress. I understand accidents happen, and we remained respectful throughout the situation. What truly disappointed us was how management handled it afterward. The manager offered a $15 dessert on an $850 bill, while still insisting on charging the full service fee/tip despite the embarrassment, discomfort, and disruption caused to our family dinner. The situation created an unnecessary and very unpleasant discussion at the table and completely ruined the experience. Again, mistakes happen in hospitality. What defines a good restaurant is how management responds to them. Unfortunately, in this case, there was very little empathy, flexibility, or real concern for customer experience. I'm writing this review not because of the accident itself, but because of the way the situation was handled afterward. I hope ownership takes this feedback seriously.

Upon entering we were warmly welcomed. While we decided on what we would be having, we were given complimentary fried zucchini strips & bread. The wait staff is very attentive. Having never been here but using Yelp as my foodie guide, with its high star rating, I somehow missed that this establishment is prixe fixed so you cannot order a La carte anything. I honestly wish I had read more reviews instead of focusing on just the high-star rating. Anyway, the prize fixed menu includes appetizer, main entree, dessert and coffee for $38.95 with up charges for specific items that are clearly marked. Of course, both myself and my hubby chose entrees (veal parmigiana and meat lasagna) with a $5.95 up charge for each. On this Friday night, there was live music. It was very fitting for this Italian restaurant with its cozy Italian bistro/cafe atmosphere. It made it feel like date night. Hearing the music in the background was very enjoyable. Now the food, which came out in a nice even pace so we were not rushed. The appetizers of baked clams and eggplant rollatine were good.
