Must have driven past this place a thousand times. What a hidden gem in plain sight. Came here for diner the atmosphere had a comfortable vibe. The food is fantastic one thing better than the next everything cook perfectly. With service to match. Overall great place I'll look forward to my next visit.

    Great bread and butter!

Great sauce with the fried mozzarella! We really enjoyed the spaghetti and meatballs! Service was excellent! The restaurant's atmosphere was very welcoming!

Steve's Piccolo Bussola III is a hidden gem. The food is absolutely delicious. The staff is extremely nice and very attentive. MY wife and have gone many times over the years and we have never been disappointed. The Artichoke Hearts appetizer is a good choice to start. The restaurant is located in a small strip center. Parking can be challenging but there is more parking in the rear.

It's like home... It doesn't matter what day it is, our favorite restaurant on the planet is Steve's Piccola Bussola, in Hauppauge. When we are looking for REAL Italian food with a family style vibe, we go home to Steve's. The waiters are kind, funny and ALWAYS accommodating. Most of them are BROTHERS! We love that. They all serve you. They all hug you, and the Chef always comes out to visit. He hugs too and always shakes your hand with a smile! Even the valet puts a smile on my face! A hard working family man, who valets on the side for his family. xo The food is family style, so you ALWAYS go home with a ton of food. My favorites, in this particular order are: -The Stuffed Mushrooms are DEEELISH with a hint of bacon, red bell pepper and a dreamy sauce, which I love! -I love the special they make for me, even when it's not on the menu- Stuffed chicken cutlet with artichoke hearts, fontina cheese and prosciutto with a mushroom gravy. (Eat your heart out!) -My husband's FAVORITE is the stuffed pork chop! A MUST HAVE! Juicy and tender always, never dry! We show up, they know our favorite wine, and they always make room for us, even on the busy nights. We just had my birthday there, with the people I love. I wouldn't have had it any other way. See you soon, PB!

Dress casual atmosphere, linen table cloth. We had the buratta appetizer along with fried mozzarella. Both were great. Sauce is heavy on roasted garlic which I love. The seafood fra diabolo dish wasn't very spicy but seafood was cooked perfectly. Steak dish was also cooked perfectly to medium rare. Servers were excellent, attentive and able to answer questions and they were able to make things to order.

Fine, mature, white table-clothed family-style Italian restaurant with a well-dressed wait staff, full bar, and mandatory valet parking where you go with family to have a nice dinner and share every dish. Many families were there to have dinner, so it was quite noisy, but we sat in the back by the bar where it was quiet. The Italian waiter had such a thick accent that we could not understand the specials. The size options for each dish are single or family, which serve 2 and 4 people, respectively. The waiter often apportioned and served the food to us, so the service was impeccable. Overcooked plain crispy crunchy airy Italian bread came on the table. The spedino alla romano was a baked cheesy bread topped with mozzarella cheese and bathed in a sauce with capers. It was sinful, flavorful, and unlike anything I've ever eaten. The chopped salad was practically minced, so I couldn't taste anything individually other than the provolone, but there was also salami and olives in there. It was good and incredibly healthy. The chicken sorrentino was baked chicken topped with prosciutto and mozzarella and bathed in sauce. The description reminded me of chicken a la court st, but the prosciutto was different and the mozzarella was gooey instead of firm and fresh. I like the Hoboken-style dish better, but this was also great. The veal Marsala was good, not great. The tiramisu was lame because it basically turned to liquid in your mouth before you could taste anything. Fantastic quality restaurant with food generally ranging from good to great.

My fiance and I came here on a whim because we were craving Italian food and WOW. This was one of the best meals we've had in a while. And the price was right! The chicken francese was cooked perfectly and the sauce was to die for. The penne alla vodka was delicious and super cheesy (different but still so good). They also give you a basket of bread with good olive oil and butter complimentary. The entire bill was $90 for these two giant family size dishes. We had for leftover for days. The service was great, quick. Food came out hot. Server was very nice and the atmosphere was elegant yet homey. Will definitely be coming back here. We want to try everything on the menu! 10/10.

Once we found the place, which even with GPS didn't help much, we were pleasantly surprised that in this industrial park area, there could be an eatery with white tablecloths, crystal and wait staff in tuxedo attire. But, it is true, and we were so glad we circled back around and located this little gem. Our waiter, Antonio, was very patient with all of our questions and having him repeat the long list of specials. We chose the orecchiette (little ears in Italian), a freshly-made pasta that was melt-in-your-mouth delicious, served with sausage and broccoli rabe, with roasted garlic and cannellini beans. The single was a generous portion and we also had a largish bowl of parmigiana reggiano sro we could replenish our entrees. We also ordered a tri-color salad with fresh arugula, crunchy endive and radicchio, dressed with wonderful balsamic reduction and olive oil. We didn't leave a leaf. We (they) were on a roll, so when Rocco, freely picking up when our server Antonio was occupied, as did Arturo, the other waiter, recited the dessert menu, we were only momentarily disappointed that gelato wasn't on the list, and opted for Cassata cake. So glad we did. The light white cake with marsala, heavy cream filling with marsala and mini mint chocolate chips was to die for. I vowed only to eat a third if we shared. I lied. I was actually accused, by hubby of course, of taking more than my share of the cream filling. Maybe it was the marsala that made him so possessive. This is Italian cuisine at its best--even on a Monday, when we assume the regular chef isn't in the kitchen. Worth driving out of your way for this hidden treasure.

Bon and I havent been to this location since it was La Strada...which was awhile ago... Its now Steves Piccola Bussola 3 located off the LIE in Hauppauge. We went for a late lunch, early dinner, around 3 pm which worked out well because it filled up as we dined. The place looks the same..Very warm and inviting, with the walls filled with bottles of wine and of course the white table cloths and servers in semi formal wear. From start to finish the service was on point! We had a bottle of Maltipulcinello de Abruzzo which is our fav drinking wine with Italian food.. For appys we ordered Baked Clams...absolutly perfect and delish..great dipping sauce for the fresh hot bread we had on the table. We were hungry and decided on 3 mains; Veal Parm, Linguini w/white clam sauce and Chicken Campagnola... we got the pasta to share, as the entres dont include sides. They offer single dishes or family style..we got single which was more than enough and we took home plenty for the next day. Dessert was a Pistachio Tartufo and Cappucciino. We had a great meal, wonderful service and cant wait to return for another visit!

I will attach what the owner wrote to me. Basically it's my husband fault for eating uncooked meat. As if my husband was stupid. The restaurant takes no blame on under cooking the pork chops. I don't have the restaurant wrong. I was there when my friend lost her mom for a family meal. I drive the black Jaguar. I ordered take out and always paid cash. I am glad that there are so many other restaurants opening up in that area I did call to complain and was told the person to talk to was not in. Don't worry. Me and my friends will never enter the restauarnt again. The new restaurants on motor parkway, Paces, the one that took over Mario's have really good food. Even Pete the Greek food is great. I live very close to that area. Even go to Insignias. Either take pork chops off the menu or make the the pork chop thinner. I am half Spanish. Easy to cook. Me and my friends have a lot of places to go to. Hauppauge is up and coming area for restaurants now.

I wanted to give 4 and a half stars but couldn't…read more This spot was a recommendation from a vendor, who took co-workers there for lunch. I called 2 days in advance to see if it was possible to get a table for 3 on a Saturday night for a 50th birthday dinner. I knew the chances were slim but I had to try. The girl who answered the phone (Amy), said they had seating on Friday night, Saturday was booked. So I took the reservation, not knowing much about the place. After reading reviews in different places, I had learned that they have a DJ on Friday nights. I was looking for a quieter type of dinner so I called back to inquire. The 2nd person (Evelyn) confirmed that they have a DJ that usually starts at 730pm on Friday nights. After a short chat, she changed my reservation to an earlier time so we could enjoy our meal without feeling like we're in the club! ;-) Both gals were patient and kind with our first timer questions. We arrived a little earlier than our reserved time (close to 6pm) and the parking lot had lots of open spaces. We parked and we were greeted by a nice woman who looked happy that we arrived early. We had planned to sit and wait, being that it was a Friday. But we were led to a table right away by a gentleman who looked to be a manager? He didn't say anything but we later saw him walking the room delegating, so to speak. Our 4 seater table was smack dab in the middle of a huge, high ceiling, open concept room that was filled with very long banquet tables. Each table was set for what looked like celebrations. There were a few other smaller tables. Parties were happening at some of the long tables and some of the smaller tables were filled with families that had kids. It was a bit loud but tolerable. We could hear one another speak just fine. Our waitress Alisha came over after a bit to greet us. She took drink orders as we explained it was out 1st time there and we were celebrating a 50th birthday. She was very busy handling one of the larger tables next to us, but we were never ignored. On the table was an open glass bottle of filtered water that was not very chilled. We poured ourselves and it was refilled without us asking by runners. Also on the table was seasoned olive oil for dipping bread. I didn't like that it was already there when we sat down, exposed to the air for who knows how long. But.....all was forgiven when the basket of warm bread came out. It was some of THE best table bread I have ever had. Alisha said it was their pizza dough. I could have eaten that all night and been satisfied. We had to stop ourselves! We each looked over the menu for a bit and ordered just entrees because of the bread! - One order of Ossobuco off the specials menu that came with paparadelle in a brown gravy like sauce. - One order of Filet of Sole Oreganata & Shrimp over sautéed spinach off the regular menu. (Both entrees came with a salad, choice of garden or caesar. The garden salad comes already mixed in their dressing. I ordered the dressing on the side. Good size, spring mix, very fresh). - The tweenager ordered mozzarella sticks appetizer as their dinner. It took a little bit for the food to come out but we were happy about that. We got to admire the greatness of the room. The huge photos on the wall, the birthday celebrations, the food coming and going (including massive amounts of take out orders). It was a well oiled machine and we enjoyed watching it all transpire. The birthday acknowledgement is a thing in itself. We had NO idea but it was all about to go down for us the same way after we ate! First a super loud speaker blasts a birthday song, then the other people dining in the restaurant stop what they're doing and start spinning their napkins in the air, while the wait staff brings over a dessert with a big flaming sparkler in it. How embarrassingly awesome! Which brings us to the dessert. A mint tartufo (Amazing). Also ordered to go, was a tiramisu (it was "ok"). No desserts made in house. By the time we got up to leave, the place was packed and the bar was full. As was the parking lot. Side note: due to Mother's Day being the week before, there was a schedule change and there was no DJ. Food = 4 stars. Piping hot and fresh but no wow factor with flavors. (Except for that bread!) Service = 5 stars Experience/Ambiance = 5 stars Points off for the parking lot being full of huge pot holes. I'm sure that could be fixed with the revenue being brought in. Water was warm-ish, apple juice was over iced and watered down, and bread dipping olive oil was out on the table before we sat down. We had no idea this was a chain of restaurants with other locations! All in all, we look forward to going back again and trying more food!

Now, I knew nothing about Mezza Luna, never heard of it or looked for reviews first, so I had no idea what the night would bring! We found the restaurant, pull into the parking lot, it was so full we literally got the last spot! My second thought....it's going to be an expensive night, but I was looking forward so I was prepared, it was pay day! LOL! The owner greeted us as we walked in, Mezza Luna is a classy, romantic restaurant with a warm, comfortable feel to it! I already had the feeling anything we ordered would be extremely well prepared and delicious, I was right! Friday evenings there is live music! A guy playing an acoustic guitar was set up in a nice spot when we walked in, very talented and played some great classic rock songs! Our table was perfect, could easily seat four people! Right away, glasses of ice water were served with a basket of fresh semolina bread! Our waiter, Fred, came over shortly after. I have to say the service is superb! He was very courteous and attentive throughout the evening! I can't even count how many times someone came to our table to fill our glass with water! The menu is very nice, you will without a doubt find any of your favorite dishes to choose from. Decisions, decisions, decisions...It was tough but I went with the Filet of Sole Francaise. My daughter chose a pasta dish. Fred read off the specials, all great choices, but I still ordered my favorite dish! However, beef barley soup was part of the specials so I ordered that. It was over the top delicious and a nice size serving! They don't skimp on anything, lots of beef with tiny pasta and vegetables. Even though finely chopped so no big pieces, there was a big taste of everything in each spoonful. I finished it all! The presentation was also beautiful and served piping hot! As everything on the menu is ala carte, your dish comes as is, so we didn't order any pasta or appetizers. It was a little pricey but believe me, it won't matter to you! The portions are big enough and a complimentary bowl of fresh mixed vegetables are served with your dinner. The francaise sauce was perfection and my fish was succulent, very fresh! My daughter enjoyed her pasta dish tremendously! There is always room for dessert, even though I felt like I couldn't eat another bite, I couldn't pass up dessert. My favorite was one of the choices (of course it was) but so were 3 or 4 others. They offer two kinds of tartufo which was a first for me! I went with the tiramisu! It was one of the best I ever had! It was so over the top delicious I finished it all!! Last nights dinner was one of the best I have had in a long time, even better than the Country House, where we went for Easter! This was just different, a very elegant experience. I highly recommend Mezza Luna. Especially if you have a SO, you must dine here! I will absolutely be back soon, not one negative about the evening I can think of, it was really a perfect night!

It means buyer beware. But when it comes to dishes, you might have noticed there is no pasta with my Chicken Parm. That's because the Chicken Parm is $32 freaking dollars if you order it with pasta. The owner and staff seem super friendly, but I have never in my life seen this price for Chicken Parm and pasta. I told the owner that and he said it's $16 and change for the Chicken Parm and $15 and change for the pasta. If you don't know, after alcohol, an Italian restaurant's biggest profit margin is pasta. For this restaurant, it might be number one. Pasta is incredibly cheap to make so the markup here is beyond insane. The price for pasta is so high that they almost definitely miss the ideal price point. In other words, this price will drive down orders and keep customers away. At a lower price point, it will drive more groups of people spending more money. Aside from that, the food is excellent and I still recommend this place. It really is great food. Just don't order pasta.

For appetizers we had the delightful Carrot-Ginger Soup with Whipped Mascarpone & Amaretti Crumble and the savory Meatballs Braised in Tomato over Polenta. I really enjoyed the soup, it's not something I normally would get but it was absolutely incredible. For entrees we had the Pork Chop with Sweet Potato & Bacon Hash, Red Pepper Sauce - on side and the Fluke with Borlotti Beans, Winter Vegetable Ragu & Parmesan Brodo. Both excellent scrumptious dishes. For dessert we had the Flourless Almond Chocolate Cake & Vanilla Gelato and the Black & White Creme Brûlée. Both were delicious but I have to say that was the best Creme Brûlée I have ever had. It was also nice that we are able to bring our wine and they just charged a corking fee. We are certainly coming back to this place!

What a bummer !!!…read more Before writing this review, I made sure to come back several times, on Friday nights, to see if my experience was just a one-off. Unfortunately, things have definitely changed. The vibe that once made this place special just isn't there anymore. On a Friday night, the atmosphere feels flat, and even the lighting could use some work (Too Bright) it would benefit from being dimmed to create a more inviting and energetic setting. The staff doesn't seem as engaged as they once were, and sadly, the food isn't hitting the same either. The biggest disappointment, however, has been the music. The DJs don't seem to know how to read the crowd. When most of the room is sitting down and barely even bobbing their heads, it's probably time to switch things up and get some energy flowing. The one bright spot is Mike behind the bar. He's still on point, keeps the drinks coming, and provides the level of service that keeps customers happy. I truly enjoyed this place in the past, which makes it even more disappointing to see it heading in this direction. I'm hoping management takes notice and brings back the atmosphere that made people want to keep coming back.

Upon entering we were warmly welcomed. While we decided on what we would be having, we were given complimentary fried zucchini strips & bread. The wait staff is very attentive. Having never been here but using Yelp as my foodie guide, with its high star rating, I somehow missed that this establishment is prixe fixed so you cannot order a La carte anything. I honestly wish I had read more reviews instead of focusing on just the high-star rating. Anyway, the prize fixed menu includes appetizer, main entree, dessert and coffee for $38.95 with up charges for specific items that are clearly marked. Of course, both myself and my hubby chose entrees (veal parmigiana and meat lasagna) with a $5.95 up charge for each. On this Friday night, there was live music. It was very fitting for this Italian restaurant with its cozy Italian bistro/cafe atmosphere. It made it feel like date night. Hearing the music in the background was very enjoyable. Now the food, which came out in a nice even pace so we were not rushed. The appetizers of baked clams and eggplant rollatine were good. My veal parmigiana was absolutely delicious and prepared perfectly. My hubby's meat lasagna was good but in comparison to my dish it missed the mark. The desserts & coffee were fine, but certainly nothing overly special. I'm the person who looks at dessert first because I look forward to that extra special thing at the end of the meal. Overall a nice dinner out with my hubby.

My wife and I were regular customers taking out up to twice weekly. Sometimes dining in. However, we liked a specific dish and tended to order it at least once per week. The last few times we got it, we were quite disappointed. My wife took the opportunity to say something the last time she went to pickup food there. Instead of they will address it, they told her that's what it is. The dish Chicken Scarpariello is supposed to have cut potatoes, sausage, chicken, onions, broccoli in a white wine sauce. One week they dump mashed potatoes in it another week they dropped an overcooked baked potato in it. Sad to say they think that's OK. They lost us as a customer when they said that's the way it's made. It never was before and should never be again. Of course, my wife picked up that day what was supposed to be their really good Chicken Parm. It was burnt, the sauce tasted bad and we threw it out. Not going back there until they fix the chef and their attitude.

Went on a Monday night with two friends, one of whom is gluten free. I arrived a bit early checked…read morein with the host then waited in the bar. It was early, we had a 5pm reservation and the restaurant was pretty quiet. My friends arrived a few minutes later and we were seated immediately also in the bar area as was requested. Our waitress came over to ask about drinks then the busboy arrived with warm garlic knots and focaccia, both were very good. We ordered the gluten free fried zucchini, which I have to say I liked better then most other versions I've had. It seems they have an extensive menu of gluten free options which my friend appreciated very much. I got the Pollo Florendena which is two large chicken cutlets breaded and fried with spinach & mozzarella in a brown gravy served with vegg (string beans) and a small potato croquette. The chicken was tender, the gravy tasty and the beans not over cooked. The potato was meh. I took home most of my dinner. One friend ordered the Tortellini Aligherieri but substituted GF pasta, she enjoyed it very much. The other person ordered Vitello Saltimbocca which is veal with prosciutto, eggplant and mozz in a marsala sauce. It usually comes with veg & pot but she substituted penna in a garlic oil sauce which was very good. We had no room for dessert but there were many selections and one day I'll try. All in all a very nice meal, the restaurant has no issue making substitution, the portions are very large and prices were reasonable. The place was packed when we left at around 6:30 and I can understand why.
