I went to Mezza Luna with my daughter last night for a spur of the moment late night dinner. She had passed by the restaurant and it caught her eye, so we went. Now, I knew nothing about Mezza Luna, never heard of it or looked for reviews first, so I had no idea what the night would bring! We called from the car to make sure they were still serving dinner, the owner answered and told us he would have a table ready when we arrived. My first thought... impressive and a very nice man! We found the restaurant, pull into the parking lot, it was so full we literally got the last spot! My second thought....it's going to be an expensive night, but I was looking forward so I was prepared, it was pay day! LOL! The owner greeted us as we walked in, Mezza Luna is a classy, romantic restaurant with a warm, comfortable feel to it! I already had the feeling anything we ordered would be extremely well prepared and delicious, I was right! Friday evenings there is live music! A guy playing an acoustic guitar was set up in a nice spot when we walked in, very talented and played some great classic rock songs! Our table was perfect, could easily seat four people! Right away, glasses of ice water were served with a basket of fresh semolina bread! Our waiter, Fred, came over shortly after. I have to say the service is superb! He was very courteous and attentive throughout the evening! I can't even count how many times someone came to our table to fill our glass with water! The menu is very nice, you will without a doubt find any of your favorite dishes to choose from. Decisions, decisions, decisions...It was tough but I went with the Filet of Sole Francaise. My daughter chose a pasta dish. Fred read off the specials, all great choices, but I still ordered my favorite dish! However, beef barley soup was part of the specials so I ordered that. It was over the top delicious and a nice size serving! They don't skimp on anything, lots of beef with tiny pasta and vegetables. Even though finely chopped so no big pieces, there was a big taste of everything in each spoonful. I finished it all! The presentation was also beautiful and served piping hot! As everything on the menu is ala carte, your dish comes as is, so we didn't order any pasta or appetizers. It was a little pricey but believe me, it won't matter to you! The portions are big enough and a complimentary bowl of fresh mixed vegetables are served with your dinner. The francaise sauce was perfection and my fish was succulent, very fresh! My daughter enjoyed her pasta dish tremendously! There is always room for dessert, even though I felt like I couldn't eat another bite, I couldn't pass up dessert. My favorite was one of the choices (of course it was) but so were 3 or 4 others. They offer two kinds of tartufo which was a first for me! I went with the tiramisu! It was one of the best I ever had! It was so over the top delicious I finished it all!! Last nights dinner was one of the best I have had in a long time, even better than the Country House, where we went for Easter! This was just different, a very elegant experience. I highly recommend Mezza Luna. Especially if you have a SO, you must dine here! Celebrated my bachelorette dinner here. This place is fantastic! The atmosphere is very upscale yet they are not a pretentious place. Everyone my party encountered was hospitable and gracious. From the moment I called in for a reservation for nine people, the staff was friendly and accommodating. I came in a few minutes earlier on day of the event,to decorate the table.I interrupted a staff meeting which I felt bad about. But, they were so courteous ,and allowed told me to go right ahead and decorate. The food is top notch. I loved the stuffed mushrooms, calamari and crab meat. All were so fresh and I'm still thinking about how good each appetizer was. The rigatoni bolognese was pure perfection. I also tried my friend's marsala chicken ,and wow I was blown away. For dessert I got the rainbow cake ,and it was amazing. The staff were so friendly, and really made the night eventful. It was the perfect place to celebrate my best friend's bachelorette dinner party. I will absolutely return in heart beat. Loved every moment of our experience here. Mezza Luna 5 stars I celebrated my birthday on 10/23 at Mezza Luna tonight. Let me tell you. This place is AMAZING! First off any restaurant that has linen napkins and linen tablecloths is right up my alley. If you're looking for really great Italian and really great service. Try this place. The waiters were very attentive. The food was fantastic. I love a place where the servers always check on you. And make sure your water glass is always full. Fred the manager/owner is a doll. He is very old school. I felt like I was family and not just a customer. I would highly recommend this place for all your special occasions. Date night or any kind of celebrations. I had escargot and asparagus wrapped in prosciutto and mozzarella breaded and fried. I had the filet mignon. It came with mashed potatoes and string beans with carrots. I had spaghetti carbonara authentic Roman style. And I had rainbow cookie cake for dessert. The drinks were fabulous and strong. Good thing I took an Uber to the restaurant LOL. Back again to celebrate our Valentine's Day celebration. I absolutely love this place. Got the best seat in the whole place in a nice little corner with my husband. Service was excellent. Our waiter did a great job explaining the specials in detail and then even repeated just the name of the dish. We ended up going with all specials. We shared the heart shaped ravioli with shrimp. I got the halibut and my husband had the rib eye. All delicious dishes that made our evening very enjoyable. Will be back again! read more

My family comes here about 4x per year. We always ask for a specific table because it has become our "tradition /favorite". When we called to make the reservation and asked for that table we were told "no problem". We arrived with our if tiwn family guests and were told "sorry someone else reserved it a month ago". What?? Long story short we left after finishing our meal Ankur 90 mins later and there was a single elderly lady sitting at the table for 6. She had been there alone for 30 mins. ??? Maybe the cook's mother? Anyway...music was early '00 pop music...too loud and too cramped at the middle section we were placed . Don't these expensive ($90 pp) places get it? Ambiance is important. Play soft Italian music if you're a traditional Italian restaurant. Imagine a restaurant in little Italy playing anything other than Sinatra , Fran, etc. Very disappointing . The bar is the kind of place that seems to have a lot of regulars. And they will bring you right into the fold. Katie, the bartender, is funny and entertaining. She keeps everyone smiling! The food is excellent. I recommend the capelli Mario which is made tableside. The smell alone is worth the experience. Other notable food dishes include the lobster crepe and Cesar salad. You know a restaurant is good when I'm coming twice in one week. Tonight we had try out the dinner menu. Everything was amazing we started off with the tomato & mozzarella. Then we had the avocado crab cake which was nothing like we've ever had before. For dinner, we had the seafood pasta dish with a white sauce with lobster,shrimps, clams & mussels. For the fish lovers I would highly recommend this dish. The Veal piccata was tender & a great choice. The fresh Pappardelle with filet was also amazing. Our server Ken was a class act. He tried his best to provide an excellent dining experience and succeeded.The entire wait staff provided excellent service. I actually really liked this place. Very nice and low key.. came a few times now and usually get a veal and pasta. We loved the capelli D'Angelo (crab meat over angel hair).. it was so nice and light, I'm not a huge pasta person but loved this! The veal on both occasions was a lil too salty for my liking but my gf loved it, I think it's all about preference here. Also, since they're medallions, they could have been cooked a bit less but it would not deter me from me coming back here. I love that they don't rush you in and out of here, bartender is super cute and chill.. it can get busy at the bar area and a lil loud but I don't mind... we typically dine at the bar for the vibe and it's a good one in here. Def recommend the carbonara as well but it needs to be piping hot! Also, I love that they will split your portion of pasta for you, it's just easier and less messy! Having recently dined at Steves Piccolo Bussola 3 in Hauppauge I was hoping Mezza Luna would be equally as fine dining...well...the shortcomings did not meet up to our expectations. Firstly, Ken our waiter was friendly and did a fine job taking care of us. When we sat down we asked specifically, due to their limited menu, if they could serve us Veal Parm, a standard, and they said yes..When the dishes came out it was their Veal Chop Parm, a $49 rendition. When queried we were told "thats our veal parm" by the female server...she became confrontational and told me I was "being rowdy"...Why would we ask specifically for Veal Parm if it was on the menu...we saw the Veal Chop and thats why we inquired...They took the plates off the table, cut the bone off and reserved it as Veal Parm... This took the lustre off the experience and convinced us we should have returned to Steves....Not worth the aggravation...I thought that the customer is always right! not here.... read more

Ordered a caprese for takeout during my lunch break. Overall the caprese was very good. Fresh mozarella & tomato and the balsamic glaze was nice too. But I have to give it 2 stars because I value sanitation over taste. The restaurant was clean on the inside , however, my bread (wrapped in tin foil) had 2 long thick brown hairs on it right when I opened it. Kind of grossed me out. Had dinner on New Years Eve and it was wonderful from the moment we arrived. My dinner was perfect, I had the duck with raspberry sauce, nice and crispy but the meat was very tender and the rice cooked perfectly...my wife had the stuffed sole special which was delicious. We always start off with an at your table prepared Caesar salad Being it was new years, my wife ordered a cannoli and I had a cappuccino. I had my baby shower back in October '22 at Mezza Luna and Freddy went above and beyond for us! He has such a niche for party planning and really made the day so perfect for everyone. The food was absolutely amazing, my guests still rave about how much they loved it to this day. Freddy even went as far as to set up a mimosa bar for us and made sure the guests always had a delicious drink in hand. There is a private party space on the lower level which we had all to ourselves and Freddy helped us decorate. The staff was so wonderful and kind and made the experience so perfect. My husband and I still go there for dinner and drinks all the time! Having been to this location when it was Mario's we hoped to find nothing less than what it had been to us for the past 30 years. Mezza Luna opened at this location 3-1/2 months ago, taking over the old location of Mario's, and has done well to do so. The ambience of this cozy restaurant, along with the food and the excellent service made our night! Special shout out to Fred who made sure that the evening went well for us, as we were gathering as a group of 14 people. He set us up at an oval table, as requested, and laughed at my concerns that we may be noisy bunch. He only wanted us to enjoy his restaurant and that we did. Our waitstaff were very attentive and cordial. From the delicately prepared Dover sole to the bone-in tender veal chop, to the whole fish Branzino and the specially prepared Chilean sea bass ..... restaurant talking to you there was total satisfaction. My main course was the Halibut encrusted in pistachio which I have had before and never disappoints. The wait staff was attentive and the ambiance is beautiful. Just attended a party over the weekend at Mezza Luna. Upon walking towards the restaurant, you were immediately taken care of. The Parking Lot attendant offered to bring in my shower gift and held the door open. I was then greeted by a young lady to check my coat and was escorted downstairs to the private party room. The room was beautiful, roomy and clean. There was a private bar and private bathroom and plenty of space to host a shower or private party. The food was fresh and delicious. Menu had many quality options to accommodate all types of guests. Service was excellent and Fred the owner walked around checking in with all of the guests. Hosted my son's wedding rehearsal dinner and it was perfect. Fred and his staff were extremely accommodating and eager to please. Food and service were great. The place is lovely. The one and only negative is the approach to the room downstairs as you have to walk past the server station. But it's a very small thing in the scheme of things. If you need a private space (we had 40 people and there was definitely room for more), this is a perfect spot. You won't be sorry. We will definitely be back and we highly recommend. read more

A dear friend took me to a birthday late lunch at Mezza Luna. It was between lunch and dinner, so it was not busy and the staff seemed to know exactly when to come to the table and when to give us time to visit and enjoy our meal. The overall experience was just stellar! I had the lamb chops. They had no waste at all and the flavor was so delicious: perfectly cooked and generous portion. For dessert, I had their NY Cheesecake which was the best I'd ever had--so creamy and not too rich. PERFECT! My friend is one of the pickiest eaters I have ever met because she is an excellent cook and loves fine dining. She had the oysters for an appetizer and was in ecstasy...rolling her eyes and "mmmm"-ing with every bite. One of her favorite dishes is pasta bolognese and they brought out a very large serving and she, again, was delighted with its taste. For dessert, they had a "Cake of the Day" which was a chocolate cake with a thin layer of raspberry, which was another huge hit. My friend described her cappuccino as one of the best she'd every had with lots of froth, plenty of flavor. Very welcoming, polite and friendly staff too.
