We made a reservation 2 weeks before the time we reserved. When we showed up the host was quick to say that he didn't see a reservation in the sloppy book he had in front of him. He asked if we received a phone call confirming the reservation. We did not receive a call. At that point, he was arrogant, rude and unprofessional. I feel sorry for anyone who does make a reservation. There are many other restaurants with top ratings. Caution to anyone who takes a chance here. Okay, the bar area is surrounded by mirrors which had me confused about how far down I could walk, but the optical illusion is on me for not wearing my glasses. :-) THE GLOWS: Service was impeccable. These are professionals who love what they do. If we were checked on once, we were checked on ten times, our needs and comfort always at the forefront. I am very picky when it comes to Italian food (thanks to be raised in an Italian home with terrific cooks of authentic cuisine), but this place easily made my top 5. I started with the stuffed pepper appetizer special. A huge half of a red pepper was stuffed with a blend of ground beef with peas, cheese, rice, and a sauce that had a hint of brown sauce blended with the tomato sauce. Flavorful without being overpowering with salt or garlic. The right amount of sauce so the pepper wasn't drowned out. For my entree I ordered the spaghetti carbonara. This is a must-try dish. Order it as an appetizer and share it. One of the best I've had to date. Prices are reasonable and portions are huge. Definitely a dining deal! read more

Gonna be a long time before I find a restaurant as good and ambiance-delightful as Sempre Vivolo. Business lunch, our client led us there and it's unforgettable: elegant, old world, rich wood-clad walls, tablecloths and linens and overall a total first class experience. And did I mention a first class server staff-- all elderly distinguished gents in jackets and ties, and highly knowledgeable (and quite articulate) about their restaurant's offerings. I wish my home wasn't 680 miles away from Sempre Vivolo. If it was just 450-500 miles I'd probably jump in the car once every couple months for that road trip. If a restaurant's Soup of the Day is great you just know their other food offerings are going to be amazing and so it went, with 2 of us opting for the split pea soup, a culinary masterpiece with 2 or 3 different small pastas floating in the green sea with mini ham bites punctuating the pea soup. Our table of 3 all opted for one of the daily specials, a chicken cacciatore style platter with a rich deep brown sauce and fresh sautéed green beans. Unbelievable flavors, and the chicken breasts were thin sliced and rolled, then sautéed and baked to finish. Literally exquisitely prepared and presented with the appropriate flourish. I try to dine here about once a month; delicious old school Italian cuisine with a cute fancy dining room and bar. Today I order the Pollo Ai Castelli Romani; chicken breast served in a white wine brown sauce with a touch of tomato, paired with mushrooms, hearts of palm, green beans and half a roasted potato. My only issue was the bartender initially was cursing multiple times about golf in a conversation with a guest beside me, told me the specials, took my order and vanished. I asked the bus boy for bread never got it. The bartender never asked if I wanted another beverage or how my meal came out. I had to get up to ask for a to-go box and check. Then at the end he proceed to blame the busser. Just bad service, zero hospitality. But again, great food ! read more

It's hard for me to not order the Orange Roughy with Gran Marnier because it is so incredible...but when I try something new, I'm always rewarded. Every dessert we've ordered has been sublime: the Italian cheesecake, the cannoli, and the tiramisu. The ambiance is dimly lit, elegant, and wonderful. The Restaurant was dark and quiet. There was no way to get my 101 year old Mother up the stairs. When I walked in to inquire about it they were not apologetic at all. I knew we should have left then. The atmosphere is more casual & comfortable outside dining in a private area with about ten tables that are perfectly situated for social distancing. The tables which includes umbrellas & Frank Sinatra music is playing in the background. The Cocktails are always great here. We started off with Caesar Salad which was delicious. Then we had a tomato and mozzarella appetizer which was perfect. For Dinner I had the Veal Romano it was very tender but I would asked for it to be less salty next time and (I love salt).The 2nd Main Course was Salmon perfectly cooked. We ordered a side dish of spinach which was sauté with garlic. Unfortunately we did not have room for desserts which sounded delicious. Not just great food, the ambiance and the service are all suited well to the menu. Here, you will have a choice of a classic Italian menu. From pasta siciliano, yes with real anchovy and sprinkled baked bread crumbs on the top, to a superb veal saltimbocca made to perfection. I have never had a bad meal here, nor received bad service. I would recommend a jacket for dinner, as this is a traditional and classic dinning experience. You will be taken back in time, eating in pressed white linens, and real silverware on your table. Come hungry, and take the advice of their professional staff. Which have been there for well over 20 years and know their menu by heart. Such professionalism, from the staff is definitely one of the reasons I always enjoy my meals here. Went with some friends for an elegant lunch. Our waiter must have woken up on the wrong side of the bed because he was a little snippy. Maybe he thinks because he works at SV he's better than everyone, NOT. The on-line prices are different than the menu prices, but that happens everywhere. One of us at the table asked Mr. Snippy if they "had white clam sauce" Snip says its on the menu, guest says "it just says clam sauce" He didnt answer. The bronzino was fishy, we didnt say anything. We had asked for separate checks, which, shockingly they did for us. Ms Clam Sauce made a calculation error & when Waiter Snippy saw the receipt he gave it back to her & said "this isnt right" If that was me, the tip would have been $0.00 When you go to a "special" restaurant as SV historically is, I dont except attitude, but maybe i should.
