The first aesthetic procedure you will actually see results in after first try!!! I'm talking about the laser hair removal with Vicky. I was tired of those little dark chin hairs and so I tried that first, it was a quick painless 5 minute appointment. The laser is painless on the chin and those dark hairs disappeared for 7 weeks and they returned but less, thinner, and lighter. At next visit I tried the arm pits, wow the hair was gone for a good 6-7 weeks (no more shaving) and again the hair grew thin, less, and light. After the 2nd procedure almost 2 months later the hair has taken even longer to grow back. The skin looks nice and smooth. The office/salon is very clean and glam. Dr. Calderon is the abosolute BEST. His work is beautiful, subtle and natural looking which is exactly what I want. I was nervous to try any kind of "work" on my face and I'm beyond happy I went with Dr. C. I have a gummy smile and thought the only option was to do surgery which is expensive and could cause other issues. Dr. C recommended botox under my nose and along my smile line to relax the muscles and it worked perfectly! I also recently decided to do filler in my under eye area to decrease the hollow/shadowing. After doing my gummy smile, and getting halfway through the under eye process, I ended up feeling dizzy/faint which is super normal for me because I have low blood pressure. I've been coming to Dr. Calderón since 2014 and, let me just say, he REALLY IS THE BEST! I first started getting lip injections in 2012 in Los Angeles, so when I moved back to Miami, I was nervous about finding a new doctor. Refresh Your Beauty's ratings and reviews left me no choice but to make an appointment...and 4 years later, I am so happy that I did! Starting with the ladies up front, Melinda and Veronica are incredible! I have met Melinda every visit prior, and just met Veronica today. They are both genuine, caring and beautiful women who make you feel comfortable, welcome and at home the minute you walk in. They both are very educated on every procedure and product offered, which helps so much when you have questions before/after seeing the doctor! Dr. Calderón is a true artist. He is amazing at giving you a "natural plump," but will also listen to your needs and go as big or as minimal as you would like. He explains everything to you in a mirror before injecting, answers all questions and has NEVER tried to push more product onto me than necessary (which I greatly appreciate!!!) He also always greets you as if you are an old friend, and genuinely cares about your life. I am not sure why it has taken me so long to write a review, but Refresh Your Beauty will forever be my place when it comes to lips (and eventually skin, when I start having facials, etc.) As far as pain goes, I have a high pain threshold, so I dont feel pain from the injections, for the most part. But for those that may be more sensitive, they apply ice AND numbing cream before procedures, which I know helps GREATLY. Also, they give you Arnica pills afterwards to help with swelling. Amazing experience. This was my 3rd time getting "Preventative Botox" all though I have switched to Dysport now. I arrived late being new to the area and still took me in without a hassle. When you first make a call or walk into the office, you will speak with a sweetheart named Melinda. Melinda is the glue that keeps all the beautiful pieces of Refresh Your Beauty stick together. Melinda keeps me on my toes by kindly reminding me when I have an appointment coming up, as well as provides integral knowledge on the types of services I receive. Melinda also makes great suggestions on a client care plan, which led me to receive an oxygen facial by the amazing Mirrza. It's my birthday tomorrow and I look at least one year younger after receiving my oxygen facial today. Take that aging! Mirrza made me feel right at home and established a deep, spiritual-type connection with me right from the beginning. I have had two appointments with Dr. Calderon and his passion, knowledge, and calming demeanor astound me. Dr. Calderon stresses the importance of maintaining a natural look and highlighting your natural features, which I admire. Humbly placed are an array of certifications that Dr. Calderon holds. One thing to keep in mind when receiving aesthetic services is there are different levels of education practitioners hold. This may sound obvious but it's very important and something I was unaware of five years ago. Dr. Calderon is a Doctor of Medicine, meaning he went to medical school and participated in a lengthy residency program. Non-medical spas do not require such education and expertise. You may pay a little more to get a facial at a medical spa than you would at your neighborhood hair salon but at least you can rest assured knowing you are in expert hands and won't walk out with some crazy scar (happened to me six years ago) or bleeding skin. It's no secret that I'm not a fan of doctors. Engage me in conversation, and at some point it's likely I'll launch into a diatribe about the state of modern medicine. Waiting two hours for a doctor to grace me with his/her presence for five minutes is not my idea of tender loving care. #rantover Then there's Dr. Calderon and aesthetitian Anneliese. Together, they redefine the medical skincare genre, and I adore them. While Refresh Your Beauty may be an aesthetically-focused office, in practice it delves deeper (so to speak) than any other doctor I've dealt with. The team talks to you, LISTENS to you, works with you, cares about you. They're not concerned with up-selling or over-medicating; your happiness takes top priority. I've been having acne issues for several years, and it can be seriously soul-crushing. Unsurprisingly, traditional dermatologists have left me totally unimpressed. Dr. Calderon and Anneliese, however, have taken the time to really address my issues. They're genuinely invested in my well-being. These two are what medical care should look like, but very rarely does. Normally, I tense up like a coiled spring in any kind of medical environment. Not here. I actually look FORWARD to visits. From the calming classical tunes to the amazing office manager Melinda, the environment is seriously soothing. Basically, this place is a skin care oasis. Whatever your needs--or wildest desires--they've got you covered. They've been a huge help with my acne, working through different options to find what works best. And through it all (despite the fact that I hardly have deep pockets) they've treated me like a valued customer and friend. In addition to their wide array of treatment options, they have skin care products that makes Sephora look like CVS. Dr. Calderon's personal line is reasonably priced and medically formulated, so over-the-counter crap can find its way to the rubbish bin. Anneliese can even advise on the magic of mineral makeup. UPDATE A FEW YEARS LATER: I was beyond happy for quite a while until he Injected so much material under my eyes that I experienced terrible eye problems for almost a year afterward. He refused to fix (or even address) the issue. When I refused to pay for a service that had gone very, very wrong (as is my right as a consumer) he immediately sicced the lawyers on me, after a 2-3 year relationship as his patient (and guinea pig in the earlier days). He offered me zero recourse. More than two years later there is STILL material in that area (the plastic surgeons I've been to have declined to correct it as the material was placed too close to the eyes.) So I wait and pray that that someday the material will finally go away. I have heard from others that they have had similar problems including feedback from PSs that have had to correct his work int he past. Buyer beware: he is very talented and knows his anatomy but is heavy-handed and primarily driven by the financial part of the business. PREVIOUS REVIEW: :( Being curious as I am, I know more about facial rejuvenation than most "regular" people. Dr. calderon has slowly and meticulously turned back the clock on my face. As an M.D. He understands the physiology of the face, the infrastructure, and everything he does, subtle as it is, has HUGE impact. This review is long over due.... I've been going to see them now for 3 years and every single time they greet and treat me with good service. Everything was great until I was seen by Anneliese for a photo facial. My wife and I were both excited for this treatment. We had no idea that what was about to happen was going to be a NEVER ENDING NIGHTMARE and A FOREVER LIFE CHANGING TRAUMATIZING EXPERIENCE !!! (WORDS CANT EVEN EXPLAIN HOW THIS HAS AFFECTED US) The photofacial is supposed to help diminish redness, sunspots or other pigmentation irregularities. I pointed out where my problem areas were (no where around my beard) I was asked to shave, so I did. Prior to this my beard was more fuller than RICK ROSS! (I'll post pictures to prove) I had a full on beard (chin/cheeks/upper lip). As the photofacial was being done, I communicated to Anneliese that I was feeling a lot of pain as the laser was passing my chin/cheek area, I felt pain in my eyes too. She continued on the other side and I asked her to stop. The laser session ended there. Fast forward a couple days, normally my beard grows quick. It wasn't growing where the laser had passed. We communicated to the office what was happening, We were told to give it a few weeks. Several weeks pass, and still no hair growth. 2 months pass and still no beard! Where my beard used to be, it's now in patches. Again we reached out to the office several times and spoke to Melinda and Anneliese, they had no answers for us. They stated this was the first time this had happened to them. They had no knowledge of what was happening. We were told to wait 6 months that my beard will grow back and to be patient and that everything will go back to normal, this is part of the procedure they said. We didn't know what was happening. We weren't forewarned of this!! It's been 10 months!!! And my beard still has yet to grow back!!! This is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!!! We were never warned of this. Everywhere we go I'm asked what is going on with my face. It's humiliating!! I am a celebrity makeup artist, always in front of celebrities, models. I'm reminded by them everyday... I get asked "hey what's going on with your face?" " are you getting some type of laser treatment on your face?" The questions are insulting and embarrassing, all because of the mishap that occurred to me at this office. This is a major set back for us. Our marriage is on the line because of this terrible wicked experience. There is not one day that goes by that I can't think of this! I look at myself everyday 24/7 and can see the damage that was done to my face and my life. At this point the office hasn't followed up, and they honestly don't care. OMG how much do I love this man! Not only is he the loveliest human being but talented at what he does would be an understatement. I called Dr. Calderon for a last minute appointment and although he couldn't treat me that day, he actually took time to discuss options and examine my skin...for free mind you. I later rescheduled for a treatment at his new spa location and was amazed by the gorgeous new facilities, but then I digress. Dr. C treated me with a combination of TCA/Jezzner peel and my skin came out glowing like never before. I went through the peeling and recovering stage for about three days but came out absolutely radiant. Even my most critical Asian mom (who never says anything nice about my skin) said that I was glowing and even asked what I had been doing.
