I got married at Leoness Cellars this year in April 2018. My husband and I had visited multiple wineries and immediately fall in love with this place. The ceremony area was just so beautiful and the reception in the cellars was absolutely an ideal place for us. The owner of this place was very pleasant and friendly as well. Overall, we had a great wedding and has no regret choosing this venue. I'm giving this place a 4 star because of two reasons: 1. They charge my card more than what was on the bill they send me for our last payment. They calculated our final bill incorrectly, then they charge extra on my credit card without any warning whatsoever. I only found out about it when I checked my card transactions. I don't mind paying what's right if they send me another bill with the correction. It really was a bad business practice to charge someone more than what you billed them. 2. We had TriTips for our buffet menu. However, I was informed by multiple guests after the wedding that they couldn't get TriTips when they went back again for a second time. They were available on the table but the server had told them they aren't serving them at that time. I just thought they were being cheap with all this nonsense, it's a buffet. Pros: Beautiful property, great wine and good food. Cons: literally everything else I got married here August 6, 2022. I was so excited when I booked it back in February 2021. Since we booked it we had 6 to 7 new coordinators each reassuring us of the day would go smoothly and beautiful. It did not! The morning of the wedding Alex let me know that it would be her last day and boy did it show. The whole day was completely unorganized and they treated myself my husband and the bridal party very poorly. I really started to go downhill once we actually walked down the aisle. They left the gates open to let guest bombard us even though they said that they would direct them in the right direction. My bridal party tried to help and when they reached out to Bernadette, the other coordinator she said "this happens all the time Instead of trying to make things right she constantly made excuses or just said straight up no. While my husband and I were taking pictures my bridal party was waiting without food or water in the heat even though they told us that that would be provided for. When I asked about it she said oh it's by the barrel room and did nothing to fix a situation. My photographer who said he usually backs up wedding coordinators said how trash they were. Our photographer was literally apologizing on their behalf. We had a famous basketball player at our wedding and were assured that we would have security. We even paid extra for an extra security guard. We did not realize that we did not have security until after we walked down the aisle and we saw onlookers from the restaurant peeping in to take a look at him. when we ask Bernadette to try to help situation she just shrugged her shoulders and sat down. My husband had to tell them to leave and it was embarrassing. Finally at the end of the night we were told that we had to pack up everything and leave. This would normally not be a problem if we were told before hand that this was situation. Their lack of communication made my guests and family have to scramble to help us pack things into our car. not the way we wanted to end our wedding night. Advertised it says that the barrel room has air conditioning. This is not the case. It was actually hotter inside the barrel room with the "air conditioning" than it was outside. We actually had to open up the doors to outside so that the barrel room would cool down. There is also a 20% service charge that they like to keep hidden. This does not include gratuity and is outrageous. These are just a few examples of the complete disaster it was. I hope another bride reads this so that I can save her from booking this venue. read more

Of all the wineries that Mr. R and I visited, Leonesse Cellars was our favorite! They made it to the top of the list against all odds too! First of all, they were packed! We had to wait for awhile to get to the tasting bar. Second, this was our last stop, we were tired, and slightly intoxicated and kind of over the wine tasting experience for the day. Third, you don't get to keep the glass. So how did they win our hearts and quite a bit of our cash? Two things: 1. THE WINE! I loved every tasting they poured! We ended up buying 2 bottles and 2 boxes of truffles. The winners were the Syrah and the White Merlot. 2. THE VIEW! That view was spectacular and will not be forgotten. We took a minute to sit at a picnic bench and enjoy it and met some awesome people doing the same thing. I would suggest bringing a picnic to this location and spending some time here, Leonesse is not to be missed. read more

This was the second winery stop on our tour. Of the 3 wineries, this by far was my favorite with the best wines and scenery. However, the service could have been better. The winery is hidden behind a gorgeous grape vineyard and rose garden where you can tour their barrel room and get a lesson on their fermentation process. I'm more of a red wine person and was ecstatic with their large selection. During the barrel room tour, a host suggested a few of the reds to try. We walked up to the tasting patio and the girl helping us had already pre-selected our 6 wines for tasting. I spoke up and told her I wanted to try some of the reds the other staff member suggested. Even behind her sunglasses, she gave me a dirty look and said "I'll see what I can do. Umm, I guess I can sub some of them..." Uh, why even recommend to me particular wines if I couldn't even taste them? I was annoyed with her sour attitude and kept mum the rest of the tasting. My date also noticed her mean muggin' me. She only gave me a "half tasting" of the Seven mixed reds, which our party ended up purchasing a bottle of during lunch. But seriously, what's up with the stingy pre-selected tasting?! I didn't get to try all the wines I had picked out so that was VERY disappointing. The server was also very slow with our group, kept forgetting our wines and didn't know what the hell she was talking about. I mentioned it to my tour guide during the ride to our last stop, and she said I should've told her earlier so she could've regulated that youngin's ass. Freaken wine snob! The server mentioned she had barely turned 21 and started working there only a few months ago. Perhaps she should get some lessons on manners, muti-tasking, proper training on wine, and customer service. She needs to get punched in the face. This place would have gotten a 5 star rating easily if it wasn't for that disappointing experience. He told us what to look for in a white wine. He took us on a tour of how they make their wines to their private cellars for club members. The main building is absolutely gorgeous and spacious. The winery is beautiful everywhere you look. It was a really hot day when me and a large group of friends visited, but it didn't stop us from seating ourselves outside. The air-conditioned tasting room is nice but also very crowded due to the heat outside. There are two levels of outdoor patios with tables, the upper level is member only and lower level is open to everyone. Both had sprinklers on blast to help with the heat. I liked the outside because it overlooks their vineyard and it is very relaxing. I opted for the tasting card with was ~$25. Each tasting card gets you 6 pours from a wine menu at every bar. I was a bit disappointed at how little each pour was. If you happen to pick a wine from a bottle that they haven't put a stopper on yet, you might get a little more, but this place definitely gave the least I've ever gotten at any winery. If I were to visit again next time I would opt to get wine by the glass. The staff here are friendly enough to give you recommendations if you know what kind of wines you typically like. The wine list is pretty short so with 6 pours you'll be able to taste half of the list. For me, most of the reds taste pretty similar and didn't stand out too much. However, I really enjoyed the Melange de Blanc since it was pretty refreshing. Overall it was an enjoyable afternoon at Lenoness Cellars. I would love to eat here at their restaurant sometime in the future as it looked very nice inside. read more

TOUR Their tour guide really knows his stuff. Jesse is able to answer all kinds of questions. I like that we actually walked through the vines and ate a few grapes. They even have a resident falcon that keeps the birds from eating the grapes. I learned a lot about wines, but I just wish we had more time. 5/5 WINE This is the second winery I have visited in Temecula. Unfortunately, most of their wines taste the same and there were hardly any stand-outs. The only one that was was their White Merlot. It's definitely a different kind of wine. I wouldn't buy any of their wines except for that one. 3/5 VIEWS & FACILITY Great views because you are on a hill and get to look downward over the vines. These are the kind of views you want to see when you visit a winery. It has a quaint, simple but elegant vibe that is all compact in a small space but never feels claustrophobic. For example, their vines actually come right up to their restaurant, which is semi-outdoor, but no views. 5/5 FOOD I've been to a lot of restaurants and had many kinds of food. The reason I came here is because they offered food I never had before. I had the duck, fries fried in duck fat, and a chocolate cake/cookie thing for dessert. I was impressed with their attention to detail. You can tel that they made an attempt to offer something new because most every other restaurants are careless and never bother trying to innovate. So in love with Vicki and all the staff at Leoness Cellars Winery. Every wine we tasted was better than the last. In fact, there was nothing we didn't like (which I can't say for the wines we tasted at our previous stop nor our next stop). The darling gift area was full of precious jewelry, rustic gofts, wedding trinkets, and wine garb. The restaurant wasn't open though the space looked charming...but no problems...we brought our own picnic and enjoyed the views. My husband and I are members at Leoness Cellars and truly enjoy their wines. When we visit Temecula, we prefer Leoness red wines over other wineries down in wine country. The staff is always friendly during our visit and we enjoy the food that is served out on the members terrace. The winery is located on De Portola path and it is less crowded than Rancho California Rd. Leoness is very busy though, because they have tasty wines! I'm mainly writing this post because I recently got married at Leoness and want to share how this venue is perfect to have your wedding here. My husband and I began our search in May 2018 for the perfect winery venue for our wedding day. We have been visiting Temecula Valley for almost four years now and absolutely love everything about wine country. We inquired at various wineries and Leoness Cellars stood out to us in so many ways. It is elegant, allows one wedding per day, a beautiful barrel room that can accommodate about 200+ guests, and has an absolute breathtaking view of the rolling vineyards at the ceremony site. Their red wines are so delicious too! When we asked to visit and look at their establishment for our potential wedding, we were greeted with a warm smile by Mary and Lindsey who showed us around the grounds, provided complimentary tastings, and made us feel so comfortable. They were both professional and answered all our questions/concerns that we had. When my fiancé (at the time) and I left Leoness, we knew right away that this was the place we were going to say "I DO." After booking our wedding with Leoness, I began working closely with Mary who is the site coordinator through email. She was amazing and made my entire experience of planning my wedding stress free. She responds quickly to all emails, is well organized, and extremely kind. She would email me reminders and would check in to assist/support me with any needs that I had. I couldn't have asked for a better person to have worked with throughout the whole planning process. She constantly updated any plans I had made for the ceremony site and reception area and organized tastings with the caterer in a timely fashion. We recently got married on November 9, 2019 at Leoness and it was absolutely magical and more than I had envisioned! Mary and the staff did a fantastic job of catering to us and our guests in a professional and friendly manner. It was intimate, private, and beautiful! My guests still talk about my wedding (it will be one month tomorrow) and I get daily compliments from colleagues about my photographs that I have shared on social media. The day of our wedding, Mary and her team were available at all times, catered to our needs, and ensured that my husband and I got our wine and dinner during dinner service. My husband and I have become members at Leoness Cellars and will continue to reminisce about our wedding day that took place on their grounds. This was my first time at a winery! I had some coupons for wine tasting following our horse back riding nearby, so we stopped here for some lunch and some wine tasting. The winery is lovely. The tasting room is open, warm, inviting, and sophisticated looking. The pours are all small (1oz.) which I guess makes sense when you're tasting 6 wines, but overall it was good. We stopped and had lunch as well, which was excellent, despite a bit of a long wait. After 45 min, we were seated outside sharing some wine. I had the short ribs, which are to die for, and my friend had the salmon pizza which is equally delicious. Service was a bit slow and confused, but I'm sure it was a long day for her. My wife joined their wine club last year, and we have had some very, very good wines at mostly reasonable prices because of it. We picked up our Cellar Selection in person this month, which is all reds, fine for me, as I hardly drink whites. We got the 2012 Melange de Reves, which is nice, and well balanced. The 2013 Cinsaut is already out of regular circulation and is now a library wine and the 2013 Mourvedre is quite tasty as well. We decided to pick up some whites as well, using the Passport 35% off coupon for a four pack. We got the 2014 Melange de Blanc, according to propaganda "A blend of Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Marsanne and Viognier, this crisp and well-balanced wine offers beautiful aromas and flavors of white peach and apricot with hints of pear, grapefruit and tea leaves". I didn't get the tea leaves myself. Tasty, dry and excellent with fish or chicken, imo. $14.95 after discount. I tend to get all giddy when a good wine is available at the sub $17.50 mark, so am happy, happy! We got two bottles. We also picked up a 2104 Dry Muscat. Great nose, lighter flavor, would be excellent with baked brie. $12.35, oh happy day! Last but not least, we got a blush, 2014 White Merlot. Picnic wine by definition, it is the dread White Zinfandel's more mature, gone to college and come back for it's first job cousin! That job will be on a picnic with some smoked turkey and swiss cheese on baguette! $13.65. Erin was our host, and she did a great job of giving feedback and offering little factoids about each vintage. What I like best about Leoness is this, from their website: ".........All the grapes used in the Leoness Cellars' winemaking program are grown by us, Stage Ranch and Leoness Cellars, giving us complete control over the quality & exact specifications of our crops. Together Mike and Gary(the owners) have over 80 years of farming experience in the Temecula Valley. Their operations have grown immensely and today they farm more than 500 acres of wine grape vineyards and 300 acres of citrus and avocado in the Temecula Valley. The vineyards they farm produce many of Temecula's most respected and award-winning wines. " Many operations throughout California feature grapes grown in Lodi, so it is really pleasant to drink wine that has local regional terroir. This alone for us, makes Leoness worth the pleasant drive up to Temecula during a weekday and compels us against our wills, rough though it is, to do a tasting when we get to the property. I visited Leonesse Cellars on my birthday and got suckered into renewing my membership again. I have always loved this place but haven't been going a lot the past several years. Why I love this place- *very scenic *everyone is so friendly *romantic place to go to *I love the WHITE MERLOT *food is amazing *comfortable seating outside Back to the white merlot. Hands down, Leoness is my favorite winery in Temecula thus far, and one of the better wineries I've been to in a while. And yes, you guessed it... We ended up joining their wine club. We made two stops here in the same day. The first time to do a solo tasting and then on our way out of town with the group of people we were meeting up with later in the day. The great thing about joining their club is you receive several additional tastings each month. Their entire tasting line up is pretty fantastic from start to end. We also sampled (and purchased) a few of their library bottles. Their prices are pretty reasonably for the quality. Overall, I was surprised that I liked it so much. The only negative - and this goes with all Temecula wineries is the ridiculousness of having to purchase your tastings prior to tasting in a line up like you're at some sort of attraction. I think it's really tacky. Apparently their food is pretty good and if it means a change from the mediocrity that is the Ponte restaurant, I'll give it a shot. Lots of parking. Very busy overall, especially later in the day. Will definitely be back, though. read more

This review is for the Restaurant at Leoness Cellars. Our second time dining at Leoness was even better than the first! We were served by Lester (the manager), and he made our visit so special. We were started out with a glass of sparkling, which we enjoyed with a beet and arugula salad. Even though they were out of one of the entrees we wanted (the venison), the salmon was fantastic. Don't miss their pastas, either! Lester even boxed up a special dessert for us to take home with our bottles of wine. All around amazing; we will definitely be back. COVID can make dining out a little scary, but Leoness does it right. All the staff have their masks on (and covering both nose and mouth), with plenty of space between outdoor tables. While we wouldn't be comfortable dining indoors, the restaurant does have an indoor-outdoor setup for better ventilation. read more

This place is a total disaster. This review has been a long time coming just never got around to it. We came here for Mother's Day not too long ago. It was a pre-fixed menu with only 3 main courses... some dijon chicken dish, a beef steak (not filet or ribeye, some cheaper cut), and a sea bass. Our party was 12 people and arrived around 2pm, certainly plenty of time you'd think to order our food. But no, when we were seated we were told they were out of the sea bass. How do you RUN OUT of 1 of 3 entrees?? And conveniently only have the 2 cheaper options left. After much complaining they finally informed us we could get 5/12 (we all would have ordered the sea bass) and they were setting it aside for us. Everyone is looking around to see who is going to get those 5 dishes, like some sort of episode of survivor -- we knew were going to have to fight for it... . 10 mins later after drink service, etc... now it's time to order and lo and behold only TWO (2) of us can get the sea bass!!! What happened to the other 3????????? Now everyone is straight miserable and upset, our entire late lunch is ruined. We demand to get more options, nothing was really provided. So we suffered with the cheap steak and miserable chicken mostly and left the fish for the parents. To make things worse, when we walked we saw the desert station buffet serving people chocolate covered strawberries. Do you think there were any when we got there by the time we finished our terrible meal? Nope. Not even after we repeatedly asked. Did we get a discount? No. Not a single dish was taken off the bill. Not a sorry, not a voucher, nothing. Mind you this was a $700+ meal, no small change. I think it was actual theft when you think about it because they advertised one thing and delivered something else. Maybe we could sue them.... whatever, not worth the time. This restaurant is certainly not worth coming to. I would give it ZERO stars if I could. How on earth do you run out of 1 of 3 entrees at 2pm and you haven't even served dinner yet just completely baffles me. Terrible food. Terrible management. Terrible Service. Terrible value. Very nice grounds and you can ride a cart around. My servers have been nice and knowledgeable of the wines when I have done tastings. None of the wines were memorable to me, and the restaurant was a bit pricey for what it was. But it's usually pretty crowded, so you won't get undivided attention. None of the wines were too memorable for me. I didn't hate any of them, but nothing seared itself into my palate memory either. The restaurant is popular, and their fries are recommended. I went to the restaurant for a friend's birthday, and while the food was good, I think it was overpriced. The pan seared halibut with risotto was quite nice, but not worth $40. The ahi salad, again, was delish, but small and not worth $20. What was really disappointing was my$20 Mac n Cheese for Grown Ups. Fontina, Gruyere, Parmesan, Bacon, and truffle oil. It was small and watery and I couldn't even taste the truffle oil. The fries were good. They are boiled, brined, and aged for a couple days then twice cooked with a couple of different fats/oils and not vegetarian. Good stuff but weird that they weren't served with some sort of dipping vehicle or any salt. I saw a table near us order a really nice cheese/charcuterie platter and I could see myself coming back here for a nice glass of wine, fries and cheese platter on a lovely afternoon. But I wouldn't order a full meal again or buy a bunch of bottles of wine. read more

Now that we've been to many wineries, both in Temecula, Southern California, and throughout Texas, I felt it was time to update this review. The views here are still spectacular, and this place looks like it's a little slice of heaven on earth. We've been back a few times now, and each time everyone is always genuinely concerned about ensuring we have the best dining experience possible. But, as I said before this restaurant is definitely pricey, and that hasn't changed. Even for two people, you're going to be hard pressed to get out of here without spending at least $100. However, all things considered, it's worth it. I still stand by that conclusion. All in all, when you're in town, hit this place up. You won't be disappointed. read more

I also think the winery has been listening to their members and are now taking less reservations per hour to accommodate those members that wander in. Keep up the good work! There's at least five open tables that have remained that way the entire time we've been told to "wait for something to open up". The staff clearly discriminates who they seat. Because of the yelps, we were expecting some place less commercial. LOVED it! This places oozes wine sophistication. We came when on a slow Friday which was ideal. The parking is easily accessible and you just marvel at the beautiful views of the entire valley. The gal in the tasting room was so kind and we enjoyed chatting with her. I ended up loving their third white on the tasting list and had turned in my remaining tastings for one full glass. My friend and I took our glasses to the restaurant which had the most amazing views. Everyone on site raved about the different types of french fries. We ordered the parmesan garlic bacon fries and split the pesto chicken panini. I never say the token nom nom nom BUT....NOM NOM NOM. These were quite possibly the best fries I have ever had. They came out a little before the sandwich and were perfectly cooked. Customer service was attentive and even split our plates for us without us even asking. Prices were semi reasonable. We could not have hoped for a more perfect wedding venue than Leoness. With so many wineries in Temecula, it can be hard to choose- but the view from the ceremony lawn at Leoness made the decision easy for us. Absolutely stunning. After the ceremony, guests take a short walk through the vines to the barrel room for the reception. Our wedding was in August 2021 and the vines were bursting with green leaves and grapes- absolutely gorgeous! Our guests loved it. The only thing better than the view at Leoness was the staff. Alexandra Jones, our wedding coordinator, was extremely attentive, responsive, and so friendly from day 1 . Thanks to her, the day of was flawless. My husband's cousin and her boyfriend were in town visiting us so we decided to bring them here for a little wine tasting. It was our first time too since we normally stick with the wineries we like and never felt the need to try a new place (hey, if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it). The tasting room was packed on a Saturday afternoon. There's sitting area outside and you can bring your tasting glasses outside as well, to sit under the shade and the misters. There's a lower level seating area as well, right in the winery by all the grapes. There's a golf cart that picks you up and drop you off so you can get a tour of the vineyard or you can just walk through it on your own. The building looks very rustic, something nice about that...but I digress. We did the 6 tastings and my two favorites are: white merlot and the zinfandel. I think I would come back and buy a bottle of each just for those two wines. The white merlot is sweet wine, almost like a dessert wine but not as sweet as a moscato. I'll have to come back and try the restaurant but this winery is definitely a new favorite. read more

Our friends brought us here yesterday to try their June flight. I didn't know what to expect when we first came in. I have never heard of this winery, but once we pulled up, I remembered driving by it a few times and mentioned how beautiful the grounds looked. I love that they have a very adult vibe and that the members need to reserve a a table. The experience just helps set up a more chic vibe. The wines were delicious and the presentation of the flight was adorable. I highly recommend checking this place out. The membership seems to be one of the better ones out there. read more
