Small Ultimate pizza is packed with our favorites and was easy for me to bite and chew with its soft crust. Marvelously crafted.

This is the first time in more than a year to come here and Leon's did not disappoint. We ordered take-out for a small Ultimate pizza and as expected it was fresh out of the oven. It was hotter than hell on my legs in the car. We thought we would eat the pizza first,, but wanted to take a look at the eggplant grinder. I took my half and demolished it. Only thing wrong was that my wife had the other half! This a haul for us from Wallingford, but we will be back several more times this summer and throughout the year.

I tried leons for the first time last night. If you're looking for Greek style pizza it will hit the spot, but won't wow you. The pizza was just a tad bland. I ordered through slice, the pizza and salad were ready on time and they have a decent sized parking lot. The salad was standard, I have had better, I've had worse. Prices are about average. Overall, a decent stop, but nothing to go out of your way for.

HIDDEN GEM ALERT!! Went shopping at the local outlets & was feening pizza. Looked up what i was near & Leon's popped up. This is the best pizza i ever tasted in my entire life! I ordered a meat lover pizza & a 10 piece wing honey mustard flavored. Let me just say... the pictures attached are exactly what I received & it tasted as good as it look:

The chef's salad is addictive. A small is enough for 2 (or more). We're doing grinders tonight and taking home a small cheese pizza.

What brings me to find the time to complain about a darn pizza!?!…read moreClinton location... We walked in and order a pizza to-go and asked to sit down and have a beer as we waited. Only two tables had two people at each and then the two of us. While seated, I smelt burnt pizza and I said (out loud) "I hope that's not my pizza". I heard someone behind the counter chuckle, although, couldn't see the counter. I have no freakin' idea why I didn't check the pie before I left, but my friends & I probably have eaten a thousand+ dollars worth of pizza at this place as we're from the area. My big mistake was not checking the pie, especially after I smelled one burning, but mine came out quite a while after that. I put it in the back of the vehicle and drove it to a friends house. Opened it up and it was burnt, and it was strange, because it wasn't burnt evenly. I didn't even ask for it crispy like I normally do. I called Grand and our waitress answered. I explained the issue and the first thing she said was "did you eat it", I said "no". she gave me her cell number to send pictures of the burnt pie. I sent them to her and did not get a reply. Half hour went by, so I texted her "sooooo". No reply. I told my husband to swing by Grand because I was headed out of town the very next morning. He didn't have the chance. So while out of town, I called two weeks later and said "Hey, I never heard back from you about the burnt pizza". The first person handed the phone to another person that said "We can't help you when it was 2 weeks ago". I said "Well, I texted the person that waited on us and I did not hear a reply. Whose number is 860.....?" She said she had to check. Next person to pick up the phone tells me that the manager remembers the pictures and said that it wasn't "THAT" burnt! Lololol. Seriously, whats a large pizza cost to make with some veggies and 1/2 sausage? Let me tell you, far less than what we pay for one. Anyway, Sal's & Alforno and Saybrook Pizza in Old Saybrook are so consistently better and much friendlier. But, I already passed those before I thought to bring a pizza to my friends. Guess I'm SOL

Sal's Pizza & Pasta - Old Saybrook, CT…read more Slice Mob Takeover Nine members of the Slice Mob walked into Sal's Pizza & Pasta hungry. The pizzas never stood a chance. Located in Old Saybrook, Sal's is spacious, comfortable, and welcoming, with Italian classics playing in the background and plenty of room for a large gathering. It proved to be the perfect setting for a Slice Mob takeover. A variety of pizzas made their way to our tables, but I started with the basics: crushed tomatoes, fresh garlic, and grated Parmesan. Sometimes simple is best. Built on a beautifully crisp crust that held up from first bite to last, this pizza let the tomatoes shine. They were lightly seasoned and full of flavor, supported by the punch of garlic and the salty bite of Parmesan. No unnecessary distractions. Just a really well-executed pizza. Next up was Sal's Works. Same great crust and sauce foundation, loaded with sausage, pepperoni, bacon, roasted peppers, mushrooms, onions, and mozzarella. This pie struck a nice balance between meat-lover indulgence and vegetable-forward freshness. The toppings were applied with restraint and purpose, allowing every ingredient to contribute. Salty, sweet, savory, and packed with contrasting textures, from crispy bacon to tender sausage and vegetables, every bite worked. As more pizzas arrived, the room got a little quieter. That's usually a good sign. The Slice Mob tends to have plenty to say, but when great pizza hits the table, conversation takes a back seat. What stood out most? Not a single complaint from anyone. And if you've ever dined with the Slice Mob, you know that's about as rare as finding a parking spot in New Haven on a Saturday night. Michael, the second-generation owner, came out to greet us and pose for a photo. Super nice guy, humble, appreciative, and genuinely happy to see us. He also couldn't help but comment on the number of pizzas we ordered. Fair observation. We may have slightly exceeded the recommended daily allowance of pizza. The restaurant is beautiful. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was excellent. And perhaps most surprising in today's world, the prices were incredibly reasonable. Judging by the smiles around the room, the empty trays, and the steady stream of pizzas coming out of the kitchen, Sal's didn't just feed the Slice Mob. They won us over. Great owners. Great staff. Great pizza. Sal's Pizza & Pasta is officially Slice Mob Approved. Pizza is life. See you at the next slice.

We ordered a large regular pizza with extra cheese and a large salad. Before the food came out, the server brought us a large basket of warm bread and butter, which we were not expecting. That won us over immediately. Before long, she brought us an absolutely enormous salad. It had a nice variety of vegetables and a delicious balsamic vinegar and olive oil dressing. The pizza was perfectly cooked with a slight char, a nicely flavored cheese mix and a slightly sweet tomato sauce. The crust was thin and had a great texture. We were thrilled, and will definitely be back.
