So this place was an overall surprise. You walk thru the main seating area which is a smoky bar with pool tables. You can eat there, but we close the back room which had a band and a cover charge. It's the worse gravy I have ever had at any restaurant. No mashed potatoes and my fries were cold. Best restaurant steak you will get in Longview. The only way you will get better is if you go to Skinners and get one to cook yourself(assuming you are a competent cook). Old school hockey tonk atmosphere is not for everyone, but it oozes Longview. My only knock is the lunch menu. Avoid it at all cost. Yes it's cheaper, but the portions are tiny. Ordered two lunch ribeyes to go. Probably the worst steak we've ever eaten. They were "breakfast sized," about 1/2 inch thick and rubbery to cut. Were terrible, perhaps worst we have ever eaten ( IN FACT, ee ate about half when we got them home and then threw them away!. They did cook them as ordered, one medium well, the other medium rare. Old school honky tonk feel about the place. Haven't been to the dancehall at night, but ate there twice during the day, while working in Longview. Let me start by saying that this place is a total dive. We're talking, it's basically a bar with a restaurant attached. Apparently most nights they have live music, and when you walk in the door one of the first things you see is a pool table. Also, the entire venue is smoking, including all the dinner tables. As long as you understand and can get past that, then it's pretty good. Oh, and there are absolutely zero minors allowed in here. If you ain't 21, you ain't getting in. The menu is pretty extensive. They are known for their steaks, but there's also a variety of salads, sandwiches, and other plated foods, like grilled shrimp and chicken. Also, there was a decent selection of veggies and sides, although they don't offer a veggie plate. My coworker settled on a grilled pork sandwich with a baked potato as a side and I put together my own veggie plate of a baked potato, fried okra, and a salad. The food came out quick and did not disappoint. My coworkers piece of pork was HUGE and came on a grilled bun. My baked potato was drowning in butter and quite delicious and my salad was actually quite large and also quite delicious. The fried okra was also good. Prices were reasonable. Sides are $3 each, so my meal was $9 and the sandwiches are $8. I was pleased with this place and would go back. There don't seem to be too many food options for dinner in Longview besides foreign food (Mexican, Thai, Chinese) or Barbeque, but this is a very reasonable alternative. read more

My sides were the home-style fries and baked sweet potato. All were really good. I loved the fries. It's fries battered in fried chicken batter (can't get better than that!). The steak was cooked perfectly. My bf had the angus rib-eye. His sides were home-style fries and grilled green beans. He very much liked his dish as well. Our family ordered the chicken fried chicken, chicken fried strips and grilled pork loin. Everyone enjoyed their meals, the portions of chicken were huge! They were accompanied with gravy that tasted yummy. My only problem with this place is that its a steakhouse and saloon. If your going to try local, then dive all the way in at Leon's. And it was that exactly, a dive bar (not a bad thing). Atmosphere 3* nothing remarkable, but still nice. Service 4* our waitress did a great job and was very interactive with the table. Food 3* I had the Ribeye, although highly touted, it didn't live up to expectations. My 4-star rating is because the food was good and the service was friendly, but beware that this place is full SMOKING and if that bothers you, you won't like it here. There are black plastic ashtrays on every table and every foot or so on the bar. It's very dark inside and nobody under 21 is allowed. Even underaged spouses and kids. We went in early to pick up a steak dinner To Go and there were several tables already there and everyone was smoking. They also had two pool tables, plenty of TVs and, apparently, live music on certain days/times. Our steak was delicious with char marks and perfectly cooked to our specifications. The salad was good also, but the twice-baked potato looked like a scoop of ice cream (no jacket). It tasted plenty good, though. Just a strange presentation. We also had a slice of turtle cheesecake and it was delicious, although not a huge serving. Some steakhouses have giant dessert portions, but this was a more regular size. Diners beware! I went here because of high reviews. Not coming back. They charge for carbonized water. So I ordered the water fresh from the recycling house and it tasted like it too. I ordered 12 oz. Riley steak and side of fresh green beans i was told. Green beans came out cold. They then brought me big bowl of hot green beans. Problem was they had an overbearing chemical taste to them so I sent them back. I recommended to waitress that they find another source. The steak was less then 1/4 inch thick. Cooked correctly. (Id rather have thicker steak). However it was tasty and juicy. They brought out my twice baked potatoes and they were a scoop of tasty salt less mashed potatoes with daub of sour cream and extra crunchy dried pleasing bacon bits. Was in the mood for steak, and recommended by the front desk guy at the hotel. I walked in and the country/bar had on Charlie Daniels band on the juke box. The food is top-notch country fare. The ribeye will will set you back $20 and comes with two sides. It's good, but unless you really want a steak go for the chicken fried steak or chicken. Both are really out of this world. Fresh breaded, not frozen. The bar is limited to beer and wine, but you can BYOBooze, they just charge you for set-ups. Decent selection of drafts including Landshark, Blue Moon and Dos XX. There is a separate large back room area. This is where the live bands play, and you must pay a modest cover to hear the bands. Took a long while to get our drinks, and then a side of fried mushrooms never came out until we asked. Our server blamed it on the fact that there was another server there with the same name as hers. She had to go back and have the side order made up, arriving with it as we were nearly finishing our entrees. No offer to comp it or anything else, just "here you go". I've been to Leon's Steakhouse several times and it has gotten better every time I've gone there. The steak and chicken appetizer was excellent. I had the the Angus ribeye and it was as good as any ribeye I've had anywhere. The sides were excellent. I left wondering why I don't come here more often. The smoking and the fact that you can't take kids probably is the biggest drawback but if you're in the mood for a really good steak and don't mind wafting through the smoke, you're in for a treat! Outstanding. It's kind of like a dive steakhouse in Longview. It's smokey on the inside, but that's to be expected. The food is incredible. I got the grilled chicken and it was so flavorful.
