So this place is "home cooking" style and they love the Aggies! HOWDY We got there a few minutes before dinner opening. They have two times of opening and I highly recommend you check the operational hours. We were the first ones there, and don't think they liked that much. They were prepared to open in my opinion. Still setting stuff out and didn't offer their options that were in the buffet style service The seating is cafeteria style also. With few private tables to choose from. The ladies serving weren't talkative nor did they offer advice for us being first time guests. Desserts weren't labeled properly. The food was hot and good, Not great. It was a good portioned and no one left hungry or dissatisfied. I would NOT come back myself, husband and kids said they would. No one visited the restroom so idk about that. I don't take any pictures because I left my phone in the car. We had chicken fried chicken plate with broccoli cheddar rice soup/casserole, and mac. Burger and fries chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes and green beans. I must mention here that they offer plates certain days of the week. Not everything is available everyday. So check that also. Until we eat again....to many things here to verify before you go to bed excited about going back. The majority of patronizing is from the local refineries. read more

Be prepared because it's the kinda food that sticks to your ribs and puts you in a coma. lol I don't know how the plant/construction guys eat this and go back to do another 4-6 hrs of hard work. The place has a simple, nice get to know you kinda of ambiance. Once you're done grabbing your tray of food, have a seat at one of the long tables and say hello to a stranger. The food is down home cooking buffet/cafeteria style. The menu is set for the day but there are a good amount of other options; salads, sandwiches and kid friendly foods. I saw an older gentleman get a salad and it was huge. Lots of dessert options, and the guy checking you out at the register makes sure you don't forget that! Try the chocolate surprise! I went there for lunch today and was very pleased with the 1/2 cheeseburger and fries! Go only $12.99 this was a massive, well cooked burger that was juicy and had nice flavor. I only wish they used traditional hamburger buns over the sourdough ones. Sourdough gets sticky and soggy and takes away from the start of the show which should be the patty. This place was very good! My coworker and I stopped here for lunch on a Thursday while headed to East Texas. The parking lot was packed, which is always a good sign. The interior is very country, clean, and cute. The ceiling has a fabulous lamp made out of a mattress box spring, which caught my eye. Seatings is family style, at long picnic tables. It's cafeteria style, but there's also a board with none cafeteria items that can be ordered. My coworker got the chicken fried steak with corn, green beans, mashed potatoes, and cornbread from the "buffet," and I ordered the California Monkey (a ham sandwich on a croissant) with fries from the kitchen. The food was delicious and the portions were large enough to share. My sandwich was piled high with ham and other toppings. read more

I live an grew up here in old river an I've never been disappointed you get a full meal an probably won't finish it all. I've ate just about everything on their menu an you'll get a bang for your buck. You always choose your entrée than a starch, than 2 sides (okra an tomatoes is my fav) than a dessert, gotta give the chocolate surprise a try... you'll be in love not to mention the price is definitely worth it the daily specials are 13$ you can't beat that anywhere read more

This is the southern comfort food you've been looking for. Lunch hours stay busy! Make sure to plan ahead. The line often wraps around the restaurant . Calming your order in to go is always a good solution if you are in a hurry. The portions are great and usually you have left overs. The chicken fried steak is awesome! I drove by the old location on the way to their new location along Loop 207. Once inside, it's a much larger space with a long serving line. In fact, they have separated their serving lines into a to-go line and a longer dine-in serving line. There are 7 long tables of seating with 3 mix matched tables in the center. These tables are interesting and don't really go with the others as one is a 6 top 1970s style dining room table set with matching chairs, and the two others are 1950s style aluminum frame table sets with matching chairs. I came on a Monday and enjoyed the CFS with 2 sides: mac and cheese and turnip greens, a roll, and a small dessert, banana pudding. I also added a slice of their hummingbird cake. The food is all good and homemade. No store bought mixes here. My biggest complaint was the temperature of the cfs. It wasn't really hot .....and after eating for a few minutes, the last few bites ended up being nearly room temperature. The roll that comes with the meal is fairly dense and just okay, nothing special there. I will have to use their raw honey next time I stop by to doctor it up. Breading on the cfs was not too overwhelming as you get on some around Texas... but I'd try the cfc next time since they appear to use less breading. The 1/2 lb burger also sounds great too. read more

First time visiting Lercy's and I must say there are some positive points to my visit, but first impression: I won't be back. Ok, so... the ladies looked over worked, sad and not paying attention. I said to go, and it reset them to factory settings I guess. One lady tried twice to give me a tray and I politely declined and reminded her I was taking it to go. Also, if I needed a tray for that, I order sat behind the counter because I ordered a small salad which took a little longer than it should have and once the salad came out, another lady working the line packed it and didn't bring it to me or tell the register lady (who was nice) my order was ready. The bread pudding was a SOUP. Yep. A soup. This is why most people (including myself) hesitate to "tip" ahead of the order or tasting the food, etc. why? Cause once you pay, you get what you get. I don't say anything because I don't want to be labeled. While I didn't tip amazingly high (glad I didn't) I still tipped. The restaurant has definitely outgrown capacity and needs to build or add on. The catfish was great tho. The salad I waited on? No. read more

Started out great years back. We Went last week and my dinner and my husbands was barely warm, not hot, my Cornbread was ice cold and I had to go back and ask them to warm it and my daughter and grandson ordered a sandwich and a burger and it wasn't busy that night yet we had completely finished eating our dinner and they still waited and waited for their food. I sure don't want this place to fail. I just think the owner needs to be spending some time there because its not being run properly. Absolutely love this place, although be ready to not do anything the rest of the day. A group of us from one of the local plants go pretty regularly and always enjoy it. I always get chicken fried chicken, which comes with potatoes or rice, and then you get to pick two other sides and a dessert for about 11 bucks. Its easily the best deal around for a solid plate of food. The chocolate surprise is the best dessert in my opinion. If you are in the area and need a nap meal, check it out! read more

If your going to eat here you better be really hungry. It's set up like a cafeteria with the line in front of the steam table but it's not school house food. They have a scheduled menu with the same food every week depending on the day you go but they always have the house favorites every day. I get either the chicken fried steak or chicken with the typical mashed potatoes and gravy and corn or green beans with jalapeño cornbread.
