Very good view of the Eiffel Tower. Obligatory for IG selfie. That's about all the good that can be said about this place.
My husband and I were on a month trip through Europe and experienced amazing food and hospitality throughout - except at Les Ombres. We waited 25 minutes after being seated for the waiter (thin, white, 5'6", about 145 lbs, facial hair) to take our drink order. He seemed rushed and brusque, but we attributed it to a windy evening and him not being able to hear us too well (it's windy up there, bring a jacket and don't bring any loose hats). Another 20 minutes went by, and the waiter brought us our drinks (wrong order, but he didn't stick around long enough for us to tell him) and he literally dropped a basket of bread - all stale and hard as a rock - on the table. We asked for butter. The waiter ignored us and walked away. 5 minutes later the waiter was cruising by, we asked for butter again, to which his response was, "SAY PLEASE AND THANK YOU!!". And he wasn't trying to be funny.
My husband immediately asked for the manager and the waiter's name. The waiter spat out something unintelligible, stared my husband down for a full 60 seconds, then stormed away. 10 minutes later, still no manager, my husband gets up and asks another waiter for the manager. 10 minutes later, we've been sitting now over an hour and have only received one order of drinks (wrong drinks though), one basket of bread you could use to hammer nails and scorn from our waiter. We got up and started walking out.
We told the hostess in the front that we were leaving, and asked for the manager - we'd like to at least pay for our (wrong) drinks. The manager comes, apologizes profusely (apparently the waiter had already briefed him that "a couple is not saying please and thank you" to him) and offered us a glass of free champagne. We declined, told him we'd pay for the wrong drinks, and we weren't likely going to enjoy dinner with such horrible service (and if the bread was any indiciation, the food wasn't going to be a lot better). We ended up making our way to the Four Seasons and had an AMAZING meal there.
The upside, during the 45 minute wait, we did get the IG selfie. So I guess mission accomplished. read more
