Iconic View of Eiffel Tour mixed with high class service lends well to the perfect date night restaurant in Paris. I was excited to visit Les Ombres on our first night in Paris as it would allow us a wonderful view on a cold evening. I made reservations and let the restaurant know that it was our honeymoon and requested a table in the front. Unfortunately they did not accommodate which was disappointing even though we offered to wait. We were seated close with a standard view but decided to make the most of the experience. The restaurant does have a vegetarian menu, one option for each course. The appetizer was a cold broccoli puree garnished with cauliflower which was extremely disappointing. The main course was a pasta dish done well. The highlight of dinner was the dessert with a chocolate cake. The view and wine made the evening extremely special. We were able to wander outside with to take in the beautiful light show which made the evening unforgettable. Our last dinner in Paris. View of the eiffel tower was absolutely incredible. We sat on the patio and the service was 5-star for most of the meal - our server was friendly and attentive, until he got busy... I was reprimanded for pouring my own wine, but he was busy with other tables and my food was getting cold... Had to ask for the check three times over 20+ minutes before it was brought. I watched other tables ask for and receive their check while I sat and waited. And waited. And waited. For 125 euro / person I would expect more. Food was also hit or miss - my beef tenderloin was incredible, cooked to perfection, an absolutely amazing meal. My wife's sea bass, typically a favorite of ours, was the worst we have ever had... Risotto starter was amazing and so were the desserts - bursting with flavor, unique and well prepared. In summary: bring your camera, patience and credit card. You can also just come up for a drink (not at the tables) and enjoy the view. read more

Although they advertise air conditioning, it was not on when we arrived for our 7:30 pm dinner on June 12. With the glass ceilings, you are basically sitting in a greenhouse, so the heat was really uncomfortable. Our poor waiter was dripping sweat and looked like he might pass out. A 1/2 hour into the meal, with sleeves rolled up and the heat now a running joke at our table, I inquired about air and was told they were working on it. Never heard another word about it (not an explanation, apology, or offer to change our reservation). At about 9 pm with the sun behind some clouds, it became bearable. Meanwhile, the eclectic food choices on the 8 course fixed price menu were hit and miss. Later in the week we went to Guy Savoy and saw what a great Michelin star experience was like in Paris. To be fair, the Eiffel tower views from Les Ombres were great - I recommend dropping in for a drink at the terrace bar, but certainly not dinner. read more

This restaurant gives the most amazing view of the tower. It was my first dinner in Paris and my first time seeing the Eiffel Tower. I enjoyed the scenery, but the portions of the food were a bit small. I was still hungry even after dinner and dessert. The light show from the eiffel tower was beautiful. The food was ok but the scenery was everything. My main issue was as I was leaving the restaurant, my mom and I went into the elevator and pressed the first floor, the elevator moved and then stopped. We soon realized the elevator remained stuck in between two floors. It was very scary and I had to call emergency help. Before the help came someone must of requested the elevator and it went back on the floor of the restaurant. The staff was apologetic and I was very thankful we were eventually able to get out. read more

I had arranged an excursion for my family of five through Paris CityVision which started with a three-course prix fix menu at Les Ombres. My only gripe was the early time (necessitated by the activities of the evening), because I hate being the first to a restaurant. But of course, that wasn't the fault of the restaurant so no hard feelings there. The place started to fill up around 8. The view of the Eiffel Tower is stunning, and the restaurant itself is beautifully decorated. The service was professional and fit the formal atmosphere without being too cold. I was pleased that there were several options for each course because some of my family members are less adventurous than others. The food was beautifully presented, and we all enjoyed our meal. The foie gras was my least favorite on its own, but the other garnishes on the plate helped balance out the flavor. The fish and risotto were the stars of the evening. My chocolate dessert beat the others hands down. We each received a glass of champagne when we arrived, and a bottle of wine with the meal. Only three out of the five of us drink, so we were feeling pretty good by the time that we left! Overall a lovely experience, especially when the lights show on the tower starts at nightfall. The only criticism, and it's a small one that may have been a result of our arrangement, was that the service felt rushed at times. Otherwise, I highly recommend! read more

Dining at Les Ombres I would say is a must when you visit Paris. My boyfriend and I considered making reservations at the restaurants inside the Eiffel but chose Les Ombres instead which I'm so glad we did. Our hotel booked the reservations for us and we were seated at the best table with the best view since we made it early for dinner. The service was impeccable and so was the food! We started with the lobster which was good, for our main I had the roasted beef and my boyfriend had the scallops. Everything was so delicious!! For dessert I had the cheesecake and my bf had the banana pastry...we were both so full but had to have every last bite of dessert. If you have the chance to dine here and the weather is nice, sit outside and enjoy the view!! read more

I am going to give it a 2 star rating, cause the view was incredible, even though they did not seat us outside that day (apparently too cold), and the food was decent. However there was a piece of plastic sheet in the foie gras served as an appetizer, and they did zilch when told about this. A good restaurant should atleast replace the dish or offer it gratis. Anyway we moved past the delicious appetizer to the main course, which was veal and the fish of the day. Veal was indeed succulent, and the fish average. I found this place by mistake while on my cliché backpacking trip of Europe. These five stars are not only for the amazing view of the Eiffel Tower but for the service as well. I stumbled into this place while searching for a place to eat with a decent view for the Iron Lady. The doorman was super polite and helpful when I asked if there was a table available the same night. He kindly suggested that I make a reservation for tomorrow but I was welcome to go up and check with the hostess. The hostess did not speak much English so she went out of her way to get the other hostess that did. I did not expect this kind of service especially for an American in France. Keep in mind I had my backpack and was in a hoodie, jeans and sneakers too. I ended up booking a table the next night 15 minutes before sunset and I suggest you do the same! The tower lights up at sunset and does the light sparkle thing on the hour every hour until midnight I believe. The prix fixe menu is pretty reasonable and the pasta risotto with octopus and clams were perfect. I might have wiped the plate with the bread. All in all the dinner, service and view were great. Oh! How unharmony place! Incredible view but worst service and overrated food! First, It was my honeymoon. I asked for window seats on reservation. When we arrive at hall, some window seats were availbable. I asked for window seat again but they said it's for 3 person. So, we set on the table in front of setting table, all server was walked fast behind us. It was so annoyed. Moreover, a few minutes later, all window seats were filled with couples. I asked again for seat, the waiter said people who set on window seat reserved for 3 people. Are you kidding? starter - 30min - main dish -30 min - dessert - 30 min - tea. You are paying for the view and not the food. A bit of a trendy upscale tourist trap. We left with a 400 euro bill for four and did not enjoy more than one dish and one dessert. You are rushed as they want to turn two settings for the tables each night. The food is pricey because of the view and ambiance but they don't try very hard to make the food memorable. What we did enjoy was the escargot ravioli (starter) and just peach dessert. I'd say go for a drink and maybe apps but don't get suckered into a full overly priced below mediocre food trap. Bummer. Came to this restaurant with my boyfriend around 9pm on a Saturday as we were visiting Paris for the weekend. I had heard a lot about this restaurant and had been looking forward to trying it leading up to our trip. Wasting a dining experience in Paris at this restaurant was a mistake. I opted for the prefixe (75 euros pp) and ordered the ceviche, the salmon, and the entremets dessert. My boyfriend had foie gras and a filet of some kind. The prefixe was disappointing. The appetizer was underwhelming and extremely small (came with 3 very small slices of fish) - was unimpressed by this. My boyfriend did not enjoy his foie gras very much either. My salmon dish was okay and the salmon was cooked fine, however once again was rather unimpressed by the flavor. My boyfriend's steak was cooked incorrectly although he had expressed specifically how he wanted it cooked. The dessert was not good and we ended up leaving it behind. The staff and our waitress some of the rudest we had ever experienced and were extremely unpleasant to us upon arrival and throughout our dining experienced. We felt as though they were generally inhospitable throughout the evening. In addition, the food came out unbelievably slow - we sat around 9-9:20 and were not served our entrées until after 11pm. At this point, we were frustrated and wanted to leave the restaurant and asked if we could take our dessert to go and they told us we could not. We explained that we had been sitting for 2 hours at that point and had somewhere to be and they refused to pack our dessert to go; we then waited for the dessert and ended up leaving half of it behind anyway. Anyway, save yourself the money and time and don't come here. The only thing that is good about this restaurant is the view - otherwise food is subpar and overpriced and service is terrible. read more

I just LOVE this place! I find it amazing, not only food wise, but also by its extraordinary location. There is a huge terrace facing the Eiffel Tower (gives you the impression you can touch it from your seat). I have been there several times, and the menu changes often, it's always such a pleasure to discover their new dishes. Last time I went was nearly 2 months ago, and I had the most wonderful raw vegetable salad. Their choice of wine is very good too (according to my husband..) It was our last day in Paris and we decide that we want to have a great dinner at a fancy restaurant. My family and I decided on Les Ombres because it was close to our hotel, and there was a spectacular view of the Eiffel Tower. No one could deny that the view was magnificent. Everything else was the worst I have experienced in Europe. The service was absolutely terrible. Paying an average of 40 euros per dish, I would expect much, much better service. We were seated and for a good 20 minutes, we were not approached by anyone to offer a greeting or water. After waiting such a long time, we flagged down a waiter, who then sent us our waitress for her to take our order. We were then offered some bread while we waited for our food. Fine. When our food came, my mom and dad were sharing a meal, as we wanted to save room for dessert. We asked the waitress for an extra plate, for which we waited 10 minutes and never came. We tried to flag down two other servers to get our extra plate, and they just walked right past us. We finally got someone's attention and my dad explained to this guy that we were quite upset that the waitress forgot about my mom's plate for one, and that the servers were unresponsive when we wanted help. This guy was very rude and dismissive to my dad and simply said "ok". We finally got our plate after 20 minutes of trying. My dad was very upset at the fact that the servers seemed like they didn't really care, and how dismissive the last waiter was towards him. Our waitress came by to the table to ask us how our meal was, and of course, our experience was very tainted due to the lack of attention and follow through with simple requests, and how rude the waiter was to us. We explained to her what had happened and she was apologetic, but really, our experience was pretty much a 0/10 by then. By the way, the food was mediocre at best. My lamb was overdone, and the bacon wrapped on the outside had the texture of rubbery fat, which made it very hard to slice the lamb. I removed the bacon and didn't eat it. My sister had the albacore tuna, it was also overdone though the flavour was okay. My cousin had the squid risotto, kinda bland and nothing special. Mom and dad had the veal, and it was actually quite nice, but again, food tastes like crap when you're not having a good time. We asked our waitress to speak to the general manager, not to get free stuff, but to let him know that we were treated very poorly during this meal. We told him the situation and clearly, he didn't give a number 2. He offered to give us complementary champagne WITH our dessert- This meant that he wasn't about to give us some free dessert, but only champagne when we ordered dessert. We we'rent about to give them anymore money so we told him we didn't want to stay for dessert because the experience was a very, very bad one. He didn't care. He said sorry for the poor experience though. He brought us champagne anyway, which we didn't drink. Again we didn't want free stuff. We just wanted to express how terrible the service was and to let off some steam and let it be known. We didn't tip a dime and left. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Ever since we planned our Paris vacation, I knew I would like to dine at this restaurant for the amazing view of the Eiffel. Based on the reviews I had low expectations on the food. But I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of food served here. From the starters to the desserts, we loved and enjoyed every dish being served. Since we had a reservation, getting a table next to the window for an amazing view of the Eiffel worked perfectly. The sever was knowable and explained us the menu well; it had both English and French menu. We chose the lunch menu which had starter, entree and a dessert at a fixed price. We also ordered some delicious Bordeaux which paired very well with out Sea Bream Fillet entree. Although all the servers didn't communicate in English, it was never a problem as they went out of their way to make our experience pleasant. The server also took good pictures of us to make this experience memorable. At the end of the long dining experience, we could walk out to the terrace to get some great pictures with the Eiffel Tower. Overall, even if this is not the 5 star food experience, it was a wonderful and memorable dining experience with their humble service, good food and wonderful view of the Eiffel! read more

We booked dinner at Les Ombres our first evening in Paris. The view of the Eiffel Tower is stunning! It was threatening to rain when we arrived, so we quickly snapped a few "must do" pics of the view before settling in at our table. Venue Score: 5 STARS Our waiter arrived with menus. And then we waited. We had a few questions regarding the menu, and again we waited. When he returned to take our order he turned to me and said, "ok, lady, what do you want?" Wow! That was NOT what I expected my first night in Paris! However, I decided this exchange would not define this dinner. Orders placed. And then we waited. No water. Nothing. As we were famished, we reached into the bread basket behind us and "helped ourselves." This was basically the rhythm of the evening...slow, abrupt service. When we reached into the bread basket again...the waiter decided to take it away!! Then once our dinners were served, our waiter was tough to find. Refilling our wine glasses took forever as did ordering a second bottle of water. And then we waited and waited, and finally had to request the check. When he delivered the check, he asked, "How was the service?" We were sure he did not want to hear the truth, so we said "fine." Waiter Score: 1 STAR Even though the service was poor, the food was pretty good. We order the "MENU INVITATION * 98€" dinners (included a glass of white/red wine) The foie gras and risotto starters were tasty (the risotto a bit over done, but tasty); the entrees, veal and roasted prawns were savory and well presented; the desserts--chocolate pastry and strawberry pavlova were beautifully plated and delicious. Food: 4 STARS It's a shame this restaurant doesn't "up" it's level of service. Top-notch waiters would make all the difference in this fabulous restaurant located atop the MUSÉE DU QUAI BRANLY. The chef is mainly spot-on with his menu. It is a shame that the overall dining experience can be ruined by an overly busy/untrained/rude waitstaff. Some extra notes: 1) Enjoyed an unbelievable rainstorm complete with a lightning show!
