    2.5* of incompetence

Gave Les Schwab one too many chances and this last visit was the straw that broke the camels back. Took my 96 S10 in for an alignment after replacing the upper and lower control arms thinking it was going to be a straight forward alignment. Nope, get a call an hour later saying that my alignment was done but that they had issues with my driver side control arms. That "the adjustment was maxed out and they couldn't adjust it more". Ok that's weird. I knew going in that I had a ton of positive camber because I took the existing UCA shims out that had me pretty close to 0* prior to replacing my control arms. I also added torque seal to every bolt to see what they'd adjust/touch. So I show up and sure enough, my driver side has the same positive camber I dropped it off with. I go to my truck to inspect it before heading inside, and noticed that no bolt was broken loose and that no shims were added to fix my camber issue. I head inside and inquire about how they stated "my adjustment was maxed out" and why they didn't add shims to correct the issue. The gentleman helping me, I believe it was Marcos, proceeded to tell me that by adding shims to the upper control arm would actually give me more positive camber. Confused, I told him that adding shims between the frame rail and UCA shaft that sits inside the frame rail would actually push the UCA in correcting my positive camber. He looked over to another tech at the counter with a "get a load of this YouTube mechanic" look then tried to correct me by saying it was the opposite and a very condescending "I could be wrong, but I'm not".... What the actual fu€k. I was fuming at this point. We went back and forth and I told him what he was saying didn't make sense. He reassured me that he KNEW what he was talking about. Yeah I get it, you would assume that a corporate ran tire shop that does alignments on a "daily basis", knew what they were talking about but they clearly didn't. I was done trying to convince the condescending "PRO" and realized that they werent going to do anything about repairing my alignment or keeping me as a customer. All in all, I realized that they either A) don't have competent techs that know how to deal with something like this or B) pick and choose what work they want to half ass while changing for a full service. That being said, I wouldn't recommend Les Schwab at all. I ended up taking my truck down the street to Tire Choice Auto where they were able to actually fix my camber issue with, and youre never gonna believe this, shims.

Sensors won't go off, tpms I've never seen before. Guessing they'll want to replace that at cost?

Dee Dee was great, she went over options for new tires. They did fix my broken bolt and patched my tire at no cost. On the other hand I had damage to my vehicle while in their care and afraid to take it back to them. My side mirror is missing a big chunk of plastic now wires are exposed, didn't want to say it was them but did find the missing plastic sitting on my floor board so I know it was their technician that threw it in there and not a random accident on the street. As well my pressure light won't go off and all of the sudden a new tire sensor won't go away. Really wish I could trust them but ill have to take my car elsewhere for these issues.

If you prayed for someone to help you when your in between a rock and a hard place he's your man with a price lower than anyone else in the county. Rest easy that whatever your problem he won't try to upsell you anything you won't need. When he replaced the rear axle on my truck with a salvage part he gave me a one year warranty and at 10 months it locked up and he said no problem and replaced it within a week and didn't charge me a dime. Only a man of integrity would do that. He's more than just reliable, he's a friend. If anyone says anything negative about Frank I would question their motives as he has bent over backwards for me and my whole family with multiple vehicles over the years.

On March 5th, 2025, I had Frank remove and replace the motor in my Hyundai Sonata. At that time, I…read morehad no issues with his service. Before he began the work, I gave him a list of specific components not to touch because I had already replaced them myself while troubleshooting the engine problem. One of the items I clearly told him not to replace was the engine oil cooler I had already installed a new one. When I picked up the car after the motor replacement, he gave me a breakdown of everything he had done. One of the things he mentioned replacing was the oil cooler. I asked, "Why did you replace it when I specifically told you I already had?" To this day, I still don't know why he replaced it. I was concerned because I didn't want to pay for a part I had already installed, but he didn't charge me extra, so I moved on. Fast forward to July 15th: my daughter noticed the car was leaking oil. I called Frank, he looked at it, and after getting the car back I had no issues. Fast forward to August 29th: I noticed the car was leaking coolant. When I opened the hood, I saw that one of the coolant lines connected to the oil cooler had a severe bend in it. I called Frank, and he recommended that I buy an inner support spring for the hose. He didn't offer to fix the line himself he simply told me to take care of it. Fast forward to October 13th: the car started leaking again. I called Frank, I had the car towed for the third time, and got it back with no issues. Fast forward to November 6th: the car began leaking oil worse than ever. I tried calling my insurance, but they wouldn't tow it because I had used all three of my free tows for the year. Frank sent his tow service and said he'd work on it on Wednesday, November 12th. By Friday the 14th, I still hadn't heard from him, so I called to ask if he had found the problem. He said, "Yes, it's the engine oil cooler leaking." I replied, "Didn't you replace that the last time you worked on it?" I later called the dealership and found out that replacing the oil cooler runs about $1,000, which made me question whether he simply didn't want to deal with the cost of repairing it under warranty. When I got the car back, I inspected the oil cooler O-ring gasket myself, since that's where the leak was coming from. Sure enough, the O-ring was crushed and cracked in multiple places. I called the dealership parts department to confirm the torque spec for the bolt that secures the oil cooler. They told me it should be tightened to 32-39 ft-lbs. I asked whether over-torquing could crush the O-ring, and they said yes. I found a replacement o-ring on Amazon for $26. Replaced it today. Drove car, performed leak test and it passed. Based on everything I've observed and the information I've gathered, I believe this situation amounts to maintenance malpractice. Frank is a good guy, but with everything that has happened to my car this year, I would strongly recommend not taking a vehicle to him. After him fixing my motor, there has been no issues with the motor. It's sad to say but I will be taking my business elsewhere.

I'd say his diagnostic fee of…read more$150 is fair compared to dealership prices--that's about the only positive I can offer. He charged me $750 to remove the intake manifold and starter, which I agreed to in hopes that he would identify the issue with my car. After a day and a half, I received a text saying my engine was seized and would need to be replaced. This was confusing because, during the initial diagnostic, he told me the issue was electrical. I don't believe he even used the proper tool to manually turn the crankshaft. I had my car towed back home, and yesterday I checked over the work myself. I found missing bolts, loose bolts, missing coolant hose clips, and the intake manifold was installed incorrectly--with a coolant hose pinched between the manifold and the alternator. I essentially had to undo everything I paid him to do just to inspect what else was missing or improperly reinstalled. Wires were left exposed and not put back into their plastic sheathing. For $750 in labor, plus $150 for the diagnostic, I expected a much higher level of care, attention to detail, and pride in workmanship. Unfortunately, what I received was far from professional, and I'm left disappointed and frustrated that I now have to fix the very things I paid someone else to do. I don't expect any kind of partial refund or apology, as that would only imply accountability for what I've outlined above.
