I've been a customer of Les Schwab in Martinez since 2005 and have used them for my own vehicles as well as vehicles for my family over the years. They have consistently provided good service, explained my options clearly, and given me realistic timelines. I've also never felt pressured or upsold into something I didn't need. What has kept me coming back for more than 20 years is how they stand behind their work. Wow. I was very impressed with this location, the service, the availability to access technicians and overall with the location. This is probably one of the cleanest and most comfortable service centers I have seen in awhile. The bay looked pristine. The staff was welcoming and well placed in their office space. I did not see anyone else have to wait more than two minutes before being attended to. The waiting area seemed to glow. I went in to have my tires looked at. They were honest and described the problem. I ended up leaving with no bill. I thought things were worse because of my indicator lights. These folks are amazing! We woke up Friday morning excited to go camping, only to find a huge nail in our truck tire. We called the PH branch and they said they couldn't help us for hours. So we called these folks and boy were they amazing! They put us on the waitlist right away and said it would be about an hour and half wait. This gave us time to finish breakfast and drive over. Once onsite, we waited about 15 minutes before they checked our tire, patched it and sent us off. Because of this branch, we were able to go on our camping trip and have a great time. I came here on a Thursday afternoon at 3:30pm without an appointment. I called ahead to get an estimate and confirm that no appointment was needed. After the receptionist took my info, the technician brought my car back less than 10 minutes later. Then, less than 5 minutes after that, they identified the problem and provided a quote. My car was showing a "Tire Monitor System" error, and the technician said that one of the tire sensors needed replacement. It is likely that when this happens, the other 3 sensors are on their way out. I appreciated that the tech quoted me for just 1 sensor replacement rather than assume I wanted (or pressure me into getting) all 4 before asking. I decided to get all 4 replaced, and the job was done 45 minutes later. The waiting area was spacious and they have excellent wi-fi. There is a popcorn and coffee bar, plus vending machines. Their pricing is very competitve. The tire shop I got my current tires from quoted me $600 (!!!) for the job, and another place quoted $509. I ended paying just under $200 here! Everyone was professional, respectful, efficient, and organized, and I didn't feel pressured at all, unlike at many other car shops. Came in to get two tires replaced, ended up having to get all four replaced. Everything went fairly well, the problem I have is that the gentleman who rang me up, Dante completely ignored me when I asked about financing, he seemed annoyed. So, I just said I would just pay for it all today. And when I went to pay, Dante stood their drumming, his fingers on the countertop. Man... what a mess. I came in because there was something goin on with my car and they had done work about a year prior. Long story short- I ended up going to three different places and paying an unbelievable $2k to try to sort it all. I was NOT a happy camper. There was a dreaded screw in my tire. I did not see it, but the low-pressure warning on my car knew it was there. So off I went to have the repair done. I've used this location before. I appreciate that they never tried selling me tires I did not need. They also support a lot of local community organizations. I did not have an appointment, they took me anyway. The waiting area is clean, comfortable, and spacious. All the employees I talked to were friendly. While I waited I munched on popcorn and looked at the newspaper. My car was done in a reasonable amount of time. There was no charge for this service. I feel that they want to keep people safe. When I do need new tires I will come here for them. Lew Schwab still has great deals and great service. I got a new car this year and noticed one tire was questionable. They inspected what was going on and pretty much found out that the dealership I bought my car from sold me below grade almost illegal tires to be on a car. There are rules and requirements for used cars and the standard of used tire. Mine were really bad. I shop at Big O to but Les Schwab has cheaper prices for the same quality. I don't drive very much thankfully so I don't need the best of the best of tires vs. the ware and tare. I go for the cheapest option for all four tires. I dropped off in the morning and picked up at the end of the day. I think they give you a ride if needed you just have to ask. We also bring our giant fleet trucks to this location. They can accommodate big ol' bucket trucks if you need those tires done too. Always a fan of Les Schwab. read more

We always buy our tires here. We came in this past weekend because the truck had a slow leak. They called to let us know it was not repairable, that the tire had gashes in it. So we got a quote for the new one which included 44 dollars off because of the time left on our warranty. We ended all calling them back and getting 4 new tires with discounts from current warranty because all of them needed to replaced, I knew this. Had just been being lazy and cheap. They did not push at all for us to do this. I like that. When we picked up the truck a guy covered in oil was nice enough to give us a quote for new struts and shocks because they look a little tired but suggested if we have the ability to just change them ourselves. Which we do and we will. Then we will take in back here for an alignment. My affection for this place may be elevated by the fact my youngest worked here in high school. But still! I've been going to Les Schwab for 15 years now. I only had one bad experience (at the Concord location, never stepped foot in there again). Note, you don't have to purchase their in-house tires, they can order any tire for you you want and install them. But they are now carrying some other brands in the stores like Continental for example. Their in-house brand tires are not bad, but may be a bit overpriced and marked up pretty high and not really a 'name' brand. I got warranty credit on my old worn tires that I bought from Les Schwab (about $40 per tire) towards four new Continental DWS 06+ tires and I'm quite happy so far. Today I had an appointment for four new tires and an alignment check and was in and out of the shop in 1.5 hrs with four new tires and no alignment payment needed (since they checked it for free and it was still good). Friendly and very efficient customer service, they pull your car in right away. No stalling or waiting around for them to work on your car so long as they have the bay space to begin doing so. Also, free popcorn in the waiting area! I recently went with a coworker to America's Tire in Concord and I was surprised how disorganized they seemed and they also don't even do alignments. So, my friend got new tires and had no idea if his alignment was right and they also would likely not even honor their tire warranty without proof of a good alignment. What a joke. At Les Schwab, they check your alignment for free and will only charge you if it needs adjusting. Has customer service gone a bit down since the passing of the founder Mr. Les Schwab and the subsequent selling by his family of the company to an outside investment firm? Maybe a little. I do miss Mr. Schwabs complete dedication to wowing' the customer (in the old days, they used to run out to your car as soon as you pulled up, but they don't do that any more). Upon inspection of my car, they said I needed a new ball joint and that he would order two, as it is better to replace them at the same time. Suspicious, I went to my regular mechanic who said the ball joints were fine. Later that month, I took the car specializing in my make and they also said that the ball joints were fine. I trusted Les Schwab to do my alignment back in January. while I was on a road trip out of state I noticed that the camber on the drivers side front wheel was very negative. I split my living between San Diego and the Bay Area, the closet location is almost two hours away. Once I made it back to Northern California I brought my car in to have it looked at... they brought me outside to look at the car I asked a few questions and wanted them to verify that the alignment was still aligned since they were claiming that the camber bolt wasn't loose. they found that it was 2 degrees off said it was fixed and sent me on my way. I went straight home so that I can tighten the bolt myself... I notice my camber is negative again! So I take my wheel off and make some markings so I can make sure nothing moves out of place, I put a 18mm open wrench on the nut and it turns with ease! Why is it still so loose? When that bolt turns it makes the camber go in and out. SMH Jesus Christ how many times does it take to correct this problem ?! So now I'm going to take it back to Les Schwab tomorrow except I'll try a different location since the past two clearly aren't good at what they do. Trust me I don't enjoy having to deal with running around and waiting for my car to get aligned again and again. I'm not making this up. At this point they should be paying me for wasting my time and gas having to go back several times. Update: I took the car over to the Vallejo location and they confirmed that both upper and lower bolts weren't tightened as they should have been. The alignment was fixed (again) and the technician made sure the bolts were tightened really good. 3rd times a charm ‍ read more

It is very difficult to find a place that can do work on an RV. We took ours there for work on the brakes. It took a couple days to get the parts, but all in all pretty great service. They did strip one of our lug nuts for our rims, so minus a star for that. read more
