They are the worst folks I have ever encountered. I went there for getting stuff for my above ground pool with my two little daughters. An elderly woman named Lisa was not only incompetent but also rude. Despite telling her that I would need things for a 10feet over the ground pool and she could recoomend whatever she wanted, she waddled around the store first telling me what a horrible pool that is, then saying she would get me a kit etc. And when she did not have a kit, I asked her where to go. She said that other stores would not have this stuff for a pool which is fairly popular. She started blurting out telling that she would not sell me anything because I could sue her for liability damages - when all I had asked was "how can I keep my above the ground pool safe so my kids can play in it?" I literally had to walk out of the store after thirty minutes of her dilly dallying and finally buying nothing. On the contrary, went to Target right after that and they had a proper labeled section with supplies for just that pool and a really helpful staff member who recommended everything to keep the pool safe. terrible service! watch out for what the technician tell you. We scheduled a service call because the pump was working on and off. When I called Lesile's service, the representative told me that schedule a technician anyway even if it is intermittently since the technician will have 90 days period to come back out if the problem is not fixed. So the technician came out initially and turned on the pump and it was working that day so he said," go ahead pay for the service and you have up to 90 days to call us back if the pump is not working. " So sure enough the pump stopped working within few days and I called Lesile's again and spoke with representative to schedule an appointment and told them about the 90 days and technician came out look at the pump with me and saw a crack on the pump. So he said he needs to order parts and today the service call will be $85 even though he told us at the previous visit that it should be covered under the 90 days since it is the same pump issue. Now he is telling me that it is DIFFERENT issue because this time it is broken. It has always been the pump that was not working. Leslie's do not honor to their word as to 90 days period and it is false advertisement and dishonest to the general public. read more

My review is focus on the free water test service provided by the leslie's store. As of now, this is my favorite lesile's store. I have been to many different lesile's. The thing I found out is that, the quality of water test varies a lot from different store. More specifically, it is the staff who perform the test determine the test quality. Same water sample taken at the same time bring to different store, you can receive very different result and recommendation. So knowing who you can trust is very important. If I can review individual staff instead of place, I would much rather do that. Leslie's staff change quick frequently. The level of service might be inconsistent even at the same place. The most reliable way is to buy a full test kit and test your self. Then you know who you can trust. I learn to test myself from troublefreepool.com, recommended by Jennifer L. It is the best pool owner forum there. Very helpful. Back to the water test from leslies. I strongly recommend one young staff name Cory there for water testing. He give very accurate result (matching my own) and good recommandations. I was shock that he was the first person in the pool store tell me exactly what is wrong with my pool. I need to switch to liquid chlorine from the powers or tabs due to build up of CYA levels. I learn the same thing from troublefreepool, but still surprised to heard that from a pool store staff. Just give you an idea what an irresponsible pool staff can do. I call him Mr Z. Mr Z is at a different leslies store which is recommended by the previous owner of the house. Before I know troublefreepool and have my own test kit, I did what the previous owner do, keep on throwing powers into the pool. Mr. Z just gladly sell me 40 pounds of power, which I can't use due to the CYA level. I have to drain the water to get CYA down. That is $120 wasted on chemicals. Not to mention the water bill. I did ask Mr Z about CYA build up later. The reply I get is "whatever chemical you put in the pool will build up and cause you to drain the water anyway". That is true in a sense, but Mr Z does not mention that build up salt is so much better than build up CYA or calcium. I don't go to that store any more because of Mr Z, evne though it is the closer one. So back to this store, when Cory is not around. I have my water test by other people there. The results have been accurate enough. The other staff there has been very nice. I haven't receive much suggestion lately because my water has been perfect. read more

The staff is rude, not willing to listen to your particular situation....they automatically jump to a canned response. Last week, with considerable apprehension, I agreed to pick something up which my husband had asked for during a phone call earlier in the day. He was told, by a very knowledgeable and helpful man, that the item would be on the counter for us to come in and pick up. When I arrived, I saw another car on the lot, so decided to wait until that customer had left. While masking up and getting my courage up, I noticed a sign on the door indicating a number that I could call inside to ask for assistance. Imagine my relief when a cheerful young woman (I could tell she was smiling even behind her well-fitted mask :-)) Came out to the car. She took my credit card inside, processed the transaction, and brought the item out to me moments later. I can't begin to tell you how grateful I was for that service. Having stayed safely at home for lo these many months, it felt ludicrous to take even such a small risk as going inside a store for something so clearly not "a necessity" as pool supplies. Leslie's has my deep appreciation for providing peace of mind, in addition to their usual stellar service. After completely being discouraged and disappointed using Alan Smith Pools to replaster our pool, we decided to try Leslie's Pool Supplies to replace our pump motor and heater. The sales rep at the Chino store explained all of our options and scheduled a pre-inspection. This was done in a punctual, timely manner. The install date for the motor and heater was scheduled and completed the next week. The installer took the time to explain all the features of our new equipment and left a business card. He encouraged us to call with any questions as this is the area he serves. Great communication and customer service. We highly recommend. read more

Do not hire Leslie's pool!!! I'm a first time pool owner and needed real experts to fix my issues. They did not! After nearly a year of dealing with about 8 "windows of service" they still haven't complied with the original agreement. On there recommendation I had them install a high end pentair pool pump as well as a new heater. I asked for an upgrade on the heater and did not discover that it wasn't an up grade until I had to use it in the spring. ( To late to return). I asked for Independent/concurrent heating of pool and spa, NOT DELIVERED. The last trip , after escalation to supervisor, resulted in zero resultes. The tech they sent out previously didn't only not fix the issue, he left open pipes and poorly propped the added pipes he did install. Heater is not independent of pool or spa and I will never recommend them to anyone. Don't make my mistake! Shop around!!! read more

I ordered a pool online ( probably a mistake right there).. anyway over 5500.00 order... I got a " thanks for the order" and a order number. I have no idea when it is coming .. I can not get a person on the phone (due to Covid- apparently) so it says after being on the phone for over 10 minutes to leave a message... did that.. 3 times.. no call at all. Tried on the Leslies website ( as instructed) to leave a message and someone gets back to you within 24 hours..nope ...did that 4 times so far.. now the final straw was to actually wait on the phone and wait for a human being.. 29 minutes ( not bad) got a person.. I said, I ordered a pool and I just want to know when it is coming in.. Human says : "did you order online?" I said yes, I have an order number.. without so much as a goodbye.. she put me back to a voice message that said.. sorry due to calls we can't take yours ...call at a later .. or leave a message or contact us by email on our website.. All the staff at the north 10th leslie's pool are amazing! They are very knowledgeable, professional, always helpful and very friendly - it is a pleasure to shop at this location. I have taken equipment in to be serviced and time after time they go above and beyond to make sure everything works just as it should. The store on highway 6 North in Houston has had our pool cleaner 6 weeks. We took a new motor to them last week and as of today they haven't started working on it. They sold us the unit but supposedly couldn't get parts so we called the supplier and had them shipped in. They always want to sell you new product. No customer service. read more

I took a pool broom back which had broken after one season of normal use and asked what they could do for me. I noted that I previously had one of these that lasted over 10 years. Answer from Manager in rude & condescending tone: "They don't make things like they used to". REALLY?? That's your answer?? As I was leaving, I said "You know, there are alot of other places I can take my business." Response: "Yep." In this economy, I didn't think businesses would be so cavalier about losing customers. I would like to thank Gwynne C for her great service. I have problem to make my green pool clear. I did algae treatment, added suggested chlorine every day, added ClearAid, cleaned up filter weekly, doing everything I could do, but the pool is still green and the chlorine level still dropped to 0 every day even I shocked the pool daily. Gwynne was very patient to test my water sample and provided her expertise. I agree with Tyrone. No idea what shop these folks went to because I have always gotten stellar service. Now they are always busy, and you often have to wait your turn, but the strive is spot on. Brian, who I think is a manager, saved me $$$ just today by reusing some of my old parts on a repair. I was expecting $100 minimum and left with a fully functional sweeper for less than $40. I wrote a review about four years ago after Leslie's installed new equipment in my home. But since then I have been coming regularly to maintain my pool whenever a problem comes up. The new staff needs to be recognized as one can depend on. Joe and Matt are great. Whether it is over the phone or in person they are professional and reliable. The two of them are knowledgeable and urbane. Both of them work hard to make sure I don't overspend and that I understand my options whether my pool needs minor tuning or is turning green. It's great to know they are nearby. As an added bonus, my kids have been coming with me to learn about how to take care of a pool. It was surprising how Joe and Matt are patient, polite and make them feel included and welcome. read more

Even their website has the same stuff cheaper and they give you a mealy mouthed answer when you ask about the price difference between their store and website. I have been using the store for years and had good service so I hired them to open my pool. Huge mistake the sent out two men that seemed clueless and lazy. They came with no equipment no pump and broke my equipment and didn't even inform me. They dropped several of my plugs in the water and left them in the pool. They didn't put my light in and they didn't drain the water which was extremely high. They left my pool cover in the middle of the yard. I called several times for some resolve and have not even been called back. Avoid using this company. Just awful! I paid $500 for them to take the cover off. read more

I have been going to leslie pool supply for 2 years. when ever you bring your water sample in they sell you stuff you do not need. my wife brought pool sample in and they did it again. If I could give zero stars, I would. I bought a solar pool cover and got it home to find holes in it. On returning it, they tried to sell it to me at a discount claiming the holes did not matter. The manager's attitude was awful - rude, disrespectful and uncooperative. I've never been impressed by the service here. It's staffed mostly by jerks with a "prima donna" attitude. As long as you are buying products, they are OK. The prices can be decent when they have sales, otherwise you can get better prices from Amazon vendors. Never rely on this company for service however. The process they follow for getting technicians scheduled is average, i.e. you can get a technician in 1-2 weeks, and you can go on the wait list in case there is a cancellation. However, the technician came out, broke a part, left a note saying don't turn on your pool until he can get the replacement part. This is where the nightmare is for a customer of Leslie's. Day after day you call and after long hold periods you are told that they don't know when the part will arrive, and they will call you later in the day. No one would call. When you call back you have to talk to someone else who doesn't know what the status us. They would tell you to call back tomorrow. Do this for about 12 days in a row. Finally they say, your part is in, but we have to wait 8 days to get a service technician to come out. You are on the wait list however. Ask to talk with a service department manager, and they transfer you to voice mail, Leave two messages, and the person does not call you back. So you repeat these tasks again tomorrow for 8 days until it is time for them to come out. IN the mean time you pool has turned a yellow-green color, and no one has been able to swim in it for three weeks in the middle of the hottest part of summer. I've had a very similar experience with Leslie's in Los Gatos. Their focus is on selling as many high priced chemicals as possible.

I got great help from Dwain working there last weekend.

I asked them to order parts for my filter and assemble it. They couldn't figure out what type of filter it was, then after I called them and brought down the diagram from research I did on the web and told them what it was, they figured it out. I kept on having to call them to determine status, and after six weeks they called and said they needed to order more parts because they broke a rod on the assembly. Each time they said they had to order parts, they tried to sell me a new filter. Their last quote to fix was over 500.00. I just ordered the parts on-line for 280.00 and plan to fix myself. Well, I got my parts, it took me 15 minutes to assemble the filter grid by myself (they said it took two of them, one to hold the grid, etc. hee hee) and installed the grid. I saved at least 220.00 because every time I called them to check status, they told me the price for parts went up, and some were out of stock because the unit was so old. Guess what, they are all in stock! I recommend looking on-line for parts, ordering them, then replacing when needed. Putting the pool equipment together, such as filter assemblies is pretty easy and you save a ton of money. Now if they would have been more helpful and on top of it, I would have went with them. It's all about listening to the customer and being helpful and competent. Works every time. I teach leadership classes and finding jobs classes as I used to be a Talent Acquisition Director, and I'll use this story to inspire students to be knowledgeable, responsive and helpful. read more

I had a problem with a serious leak in my pool booster pump and brought the pump in for evaluation/repair. The sales person/tech explained the typical failure, checked and had all the parts there in stock but said he had quite a backlog of repair so i could be waiting for some time for him to get to it. I said, i am handy so just explain what i have to do and provide me with any tips you know of to facilitate the repair and keep me from making any errors. I called back twice to verify i was doing things properly. I was back up and running good as new with zero leaks and excellent pressure in only 2 evenings. Great Service "M". read more

This review relates to Leslie's customer service and service department in general, not one particular store. We have been using Leslie's for over 15 years for all service on our pool and have been reasonably satisfied, although they are expensive. However, this past June our pool heater stopped working. We scheduled an appointment with Leslie's for July 13. My husband noted a code on the equipment and called them to give them heads-up, hoping, possibly they would have the part available. The technician came out, charged $125 and told us what part he needed to order and stated he would call when it came in. Two weeks go by and we contact the technician and he states he hasn't ordered the part and he thinks we need a different part then what he originally wrote on our invoice. He never notified us of this change until we called him. States that because of the delay "when the part comes in, he will install it for free (as opposed to the second $125 charge)" Great! Two more weeks go by and we contact him and he asks "did you order the part yet". We were never made aware that it was our responsibility to order the part. Tells us to go ahead and order it on line and he will install for free. (not a Leslie's procedure, according to customer service, Leslie's is responsible for ordering the parts necessary from a service call). When we contacted customer service and in turn spoke with the service manager and explained the whole ordeal, he said he would order the part and the install would be $125. We explained at this point we really weren't sure what part we needed, were told the part would be installed for free and felt the technician was incompetent in his knowledge and follow-thru. The service manager then offered to cut the service charge in half, basically no apology and that was that. We canceled the part and informed Leslie's they had lost a long standing customer. They could care less! There are many other pool service companies who are customer oriented and you would be better served to explore those options. Our heater is now repaired and working. read more
