Over priced and sometimes staff are not as knowledgeable as competing pool suppliers.

Stay Away from Passion Pools - A Costly Nightmare…read more I contracted Melvin from Passion Pools in April 2024 to build an in-ground swimming pool for $71,000. I was supposed to have a completed pool with only a $5,000 final payment remaining -- but here I am, over a year later, out $89,000 with an unfinished project and still unable to swim. Throughout the build, Melvin repeatedly asked for more money for materials and work that were clearly included in our contract. Why was I still buying materials at the end of the job? He constantly made excuses, even telling me he had to "take money from other jobs" to finish mine. That is not my responsibility -- it's completely unprofessional. He asked for advances to go to a funeral in Tennessee. Despite being fully paid for several aspects of the project, including an $8,000 retaining wall, the wall remains incomplete and is missing caps. This wall has set for 3 month unfinished and unpainted. The decking around the pool is unfinished. My pool lights do not work properly. The heat pump I was given is a used, low-BTU aftermarket unit that trips regularly. I was never told what chemicals to use or given any guidance on maintenance. The front and back yard were dug up and never restored -- I now have large areas of exposed soil that will likely cost me an additional $20-$30K to fix. Melvin worked at a painfully slow pace -- showing up only once a week for a few hours -- and frequently asked for advance payments, including once for a funeral. Meanwhile, I've paid $89,000, and my pool is still not finished. Passion Pools breached the contract by failing to deliver what was agreed upon. Very unprofessional, yelling and curing his workers out that my neighbors heard it. He even promised my neighbor he'd repair their grass, which is still a muddy mess. Unsurprisingly, he's now disappeared and moved on to the next victim. I feel as if I have been robbed. His excuse for previous bad reviews, which you can see on Yelp and other review sites, is that people want to bring a black man down. I am black and this is just business. He robbed me for his own gain. He never had intentions to finish this pool. To make matters worse, he appears to have scrubbed all prior negative Google reviews. He will likely respond to this claiming I didn't pay him or didn't pay on time -- I have all the receipts and text messages. His receipts were handwritten on black paper with no accounting system -- completely unprofessional and shady. With the pool and retaining wall unfinished, I am unburying myself out of a $100,00 nightmare. Thank you for ruining my whole experience. This was my first experience building a pool, and it's been a nightmare I wouldn't wish on anyone. Do not trust Passion Pools. I'll see him in court.

I'm very sad to write this as I like Ricki and Joe. But Ricki persistently didn't tell the truth…read moreover a 6 month period saying she had applied for the pool permit. I called the city myself after 6 months and they said there was no permit application ever submitted. After I pushed it we got the permit. They were paid well in advance of the progression of the project, but when they would finish another step they begged for the next check and complained they were late after a few days. They were paid 90% of the project with only 70% completed. We had to get a lawyer to sue them to finish, which they eventually did, but only after I spent thousands of dollars in legal fees. It's very sad and unfortunate. I honestly don't know how they stay in business it's so bad. They used to be very good, but I have to say something to keep others from going through what we did. I'm very sorry to say.

Oh this process has absolutely been draining. As a business owner myself I genuinely don't…read moreunderstand how this company can do business they way the have and still be in business. The pool design was fine, it's when an issue arises how this company responds to the issue. I was warned by many other families not to use this company or if we did - to not pay them until the job was done. Well here we are now. Months after my pool has been completed (paid in full months ago) still having issues. First let me say that Ricki (owners wife) is a joy to work with. But understand that she works with you in the beginning and then when the planning part is done you are dealing with her husband joe. He is NOT the most pleasant person and after asking around there are quite a few people who have issues with him. So the pool construction was fine. We were happy with our pool. About a day or so after it was filled we noticed discoloration and spots in our pool. Because I use this pool for work having discoloration and spots is not okay. So he suggested we drain the pool and refill. Annoying as that was we did it. He went in and "acid washed" the pool. Which of course did not help. But fine we made our peace with that. The biggest issue however, is in regards to the fact we had our pool built with a heater. From day 1 the pool would not heat like it was supposed to. The temperature of the water never matched the temperature the system said it was. And after WEEKS of going back and forth trying to get joe to correct the issue he always had a blame on us as to what we were doing wrong. Mind you yes we are first time pool owners and we did everything that was in the directions for us to do. The ph balance was so high we kept trying to lower it. We spent $400 in acid to pour in. You should never have to put this much chemical into a pool like this . Which by the way this company is supposed to leave you with enough chemicals to start the pool. We hired a professional maintenance pool person to take care of the pool from the start so all chemicals are right. We have had 2 separate pool guys and a maintenance person look at it and they all say something isn't right .The heater should have been replaced instead of randomly fixed small parts . It is defective but they will not fix the issue . It breaks every week we use it Another issue is the gas line installed for our house wasn't big enough and we had no idea . Someone else found it out not joe. He was suppose to contact them to fix the gas line and he filled out the paper work completely wrong and sent it to the wrong email. Then when it got approved I waited a week to schedule the replacement . He claims he tried to call but got voicemail and he said, "just do it yourself it's your responsibility" . I did and guess what took one call . He is lazy with you after the pool is built and never cares to help. He will curse you and call you names . Joe the owner will always blame you and talk down to you like you are an idiot and it's always your fault. He has no sense of customer service . He just wants to build the pool and walk away . Stay away !!!!!!!! - [ ]
