I am very tardy in getting this review posted, since our work was done in July--but I did want to post an appreciation for Kevin and "Let There Be Light." We wanted to install ceiling lights in our family room. We had two covered electrical boxes in the ceiling, but there was no current running to either box. A handyman that we have used before was sure he could easily solve the problem, but after spending half a day trying to figure things out, he gave up and said he'd have to do an entirely new electrical installation to provide the lighting we wanted. So after checking the Yelp reviews, I sent a note to Kevin. He immediately responded with a few questions. Then--without knowing exactly what he'd be dealing with on site, he promised that he'd sort out our mess, install the ceiling fixture, and install a wall switch for a total of $450. I agreed. Kevin showed up exactly on time, quickly tracked down the problem. He ran new wiring from the existing boxes to a switch in the family room, cutting two small holes to feed the cable--and then did a beautiful job of installing our new fixture and ceiling medallion--for exactly the price he quoted. He also made the connections to the second ceiling box--which had not been included in the original estimate, so that I was able to easily install a second fixture with a spotlight on some artwork. The whole job took less than three hours, and the small, neat holes that Kevin made were easy for me to patch. I had an issue with the electricity in my home. Basically my home was completely without power due to a part that in the main junction box needed replacing. When the power went out, I called SDGE, and they dispatched a technician. He diagnosed the issue, and told me that because it was part of my home and not the SDGE equipment, he couldn't repair it, which seemed reasonable and fair to me. He showed me what the issue was, and when I asked if he could recommend someone he said it was against policy to do that. He did say "unofficially" to find a mom and pop type electrician, and avoid the bigger companies. He did say if someone wanted to replace the entire box, that wasn't necessary, and this is the type of thing some of the bigger companies try to do. I found "let there be light", and they had a technician at my home within a couple of hours, maybe even less. Without me telling him what the SDGE guy said, he diagnosed exactly the same. Just the one part. Pricing was extremely reasonable. So much so, that I had a small electrical project in the house that I wanted done and had them do that at the same time. The small project was installing a new electrical outlet in a closet. Both projects were done in a professional, expedient fashion and at a very fair price. I'm a stickler for wanting technicians of any sort to clean up after themselves when doing a job. This guy did great with that also, even though he had to cut into the drywall to add a new outlet, which is always a mess, he left no trace of work being done other than I had a new outlet exactly where I wanted it, and no drywall dust on my floor.
