I have been going to Let's Get Poppin' for many years, since Miss Barbara was literally a "one man show" on 108th and Western Avenue. She had the absolute BEST product(s) then, and the same is still true today at her expanded facility. The staff is SO helpful, friendly, and professional. And their selection of popcorn is varied and absolutely wonderful. It is better than Garret's popcorn, and better than any place else. I have lived in Chicago, Baltimore, Tampa, and New York City. A quick check around the Let's Get Poppin will turn up more than a few grown people nearly face first into a bag of the greasiest, hand stainingest, lip smackiest popcorn you've ever tried. Typical Chicago popcorn joint only in that they mainly sell cheese and caramel flavorsby weight, they are distinctive by having absolutely incredible flavors - Bacon Cheddar is one of the best flavored anythings that will ever cross your lips and is so good that if you underestimate by only getting a little tub, it may cause fighting between loved ones vying to have "suummmm." Specialty flavors, like the Cheddar Bacon and others are sold in tubs, while the main bins in the front dispense caramel, cheese and cheesy caramel - my tip? Mix up the cheese with the cheesy caramel - it is incredible and they are so used to receiving that order that they need to have a new bin - cheesy, CHEESY, caramel. As someone from not Chicago, I never understood the popcorn fixation in this city until I came here. I have eaten/devoured each and they are all amazing. Let's Get Poppin' has great popcorn! I tried both the caramel and cheese (separately). While the caramel was quite good, the standout was definitely the cheese popcorn. This was the cheesiest and most delicious popcorn I've ever had; definitely better than Garretts. And you can get much smaller portions than at Garretts, which is nice. I think that the caramel would have been better if it was warm. Since cheese popcorn is my favorite, I never have a reason to stand in line at Garrett's again. Let's Get Poppin': Easy parking. Good Stuff!!! I was having a really bad weekend - my basement flooded, I missed my uncle's wedding bc of my basement, and my dog escaped from my yard!!! A really bad weekend....so after everything was resolved I decided I deserved a treat. I headed over to 'Let's get poppin' and I'm so glad I did. A friend told me about this place maybe 2 years ago and since there isn't a Garrett's on the southside this is the next best thing. Actually I think they are equally good. I had the cheese and caramel mix which is so good, it's hard to stop eating. The cheesy caramel is good too. It's both flavors in one. The Carmel Popcorn was good, not as good as Garretts, but good. However the Cheese Popcorn was great, still somewhat warm, with lots of good cheese taste on it, better than Garretts. Omg I took my cousin here for popcorn he absolutely loved it... We got food and this was our desert.. Considering I was full I didnt really get a chance to eat much of it .. With that being said it came in a container..I placed it in the fridge and totally forgot about it.. Ok here it is a week later and Ill be.. I love their cheesy caramel popcorn! However, l ordered a $55 German Chocolate cake for Christmas and was very disappointed. The icing was ok but could have had more pecans. However, it was the cake itself that was so disappointing. The consistency was off. When we tried to cut it, the cake literally crumbled. It was impossible to get actual slices even though we used an actual cake knife. From now on, I'll stick to popcorn. Update: l talked to the folks at Let's Get Poppin and told them what happened with my cake. The manager or owner called, apologized, and graciously made amends. I had been trying to get to this place every since a coworker told me about it. And the first two times I came here it happened to be on the day they were closed. I was excited when I came here and they were open. The first thing I noticed upon walking in, was the different flavors of cheese popcorn they had. Being a cheese fan as well as a cheese popcorn fan, I immediately wanted to grab them all up but I practiced restraint. And on this particular day I just got the Chicago mix, with the cheesy caramel popcorn they offered. How awesome is that? That offers a way to add a little more cheese to the mix, how can you go wrong with that. I have to say that I enjoy this popcorn much more than the other well known Chicago mix classic. And this will be my new go to when I am craving that Chicago mix popcorn. read more

I got a chicago mixed and asked nicely for a little more caramel. She rolled her eyes, picked up the scooper, threw less than 10 pieces in the bag, threw the scoop and sealed it. Had I not been getting it for someone else, I would've simply walked out. If you don't want to give good customer service, then it's simple. The c/p was good but the pineapple bits were few and far between. However, the red velvet was a miss - the cake was dry and the frosting was missing flavor. I love popcorn! I don't think there's a better snack food! So I took to Yelp and found this place. I walked in and everyone was great. I love getting input on a place. There was a short line so I polled everyone. One guy said to try BBQ, one said bacon cheddar and another lady said cheesy caramel. So I ended up getting the standard cheese, cheesy caramel, bacon cheddar, garlic parmesan and white cheddar. Then I figured I'd stop because that's actually a lot of popcorn. I sampled all of the flavors and let me tell you, they are all great. The flavors all taste like what they're supposed to. The flavors are very in your face and I LOVE that. The garlic parmesan makes your breath smell a little but tastes fantastic. The white cheddar makes that store brand in a black bag taste flavorless in comparison. The bacon cheddar, well, it's a marriage of bacon and cheddar. How could that ever be bad? The cheddar was great. The cheesy caramel was good too but I gave it to my boyfriend because I'm more of a "savory" person. The caramel really pops. It's buttery and sweet, not bitter like that other popular chain in Chicago. Oh, the best part, well maybe not the best but definitely a plus, my fingers don't look like they have jaundice after eating! If you like a sprinkling of flavor on your popcorn, then maybe this isn't the best place for you. Although they do have cakes that look fantastic. Maybe you can try those!? But, if you love cheese, cheesy cheese then you should definitely come here. The flavors are intense so you don't really want to eat a whole large bag in one sitting (which is so easy during a great show or movie). I really hope you guys try this place.
