One thing to note, he is very strict on timing, so if you think you've got an extra five minutes, you don't.. LOL Now onto the tour itself. I've done quite a few wine tours, and unfortunately this one was my least favorite. It was also the first wine tour I've done that only visited two locations, which was a bit of a letdown. The first winery had a nice selection, we got three wine tastings. The Burgundy was my favorite from The Heritage flight. The property itself was beautiful to walk around, with amazing scenery and lots of great photo spots. We also stopped by the sweets shop and picked up a few treats. There were also surrounding shops near the winery. Personally, they weren't really my style, but that comes down to taste. If you like clothing and home décor, you might enjoy it more. Clothing prices looked to start around $50 and went up from there. The home décor shop was very cute with lots of handmade items, mostly in the $20 range and higher. I skipped the candle shop due to allergies. The charcuterie board was a nice touch and came with a good variety of items. The second wine location included five tastings. I personally wasn't a fan of the wines here. One person in our group ordered a glass from the regular menu and shared it, it was much better than the tasting options, and most of the group seemed to agree this stop was a bit of a disappointment. That said, the views were absolutely incredible. The pizza included in the tour was a highlight for me, I had the vegetarian, and it was really good. The vegetables were fresh and crisp. There wasn't much walking around at this stop, so we mostly stayed at the table and ate. My favorite parts of the tour was the food and the tour guide. I'm glad I tried it and can check another wine region off my list, even if it wasn't my favorite experience overall. For reference, we were picked up at 9:45 AM and dropped off around 3:00 PM.

They picked us up at home near the gaslamp (they were so punctual!) and drove us all the way up to Temecula. We got a super cool tour bus with champagne and the 3 wineries were ready for us when we arrived. We didn't have to do anything at all except sip eat and enjoy the views! I called it "all inclusive" tour because they drove us to and from and we just did the wine tasting without worrying about having to do anything extra. Our host Donna and her driver were the best. The drive was so smooth. Donna went above and beyond. She was so friendly and fun and full of good info for us. She answered all our questions and kept us on pace. There were other tours happening at the locations we went to but Donna made sure we were taken care of and we felt like we literally got VIP treatment. She also took great pictures of us! Donna with the angles ftw! Lol Everyone in the group was happy with the full service. Wines were great. Lunch was great. Trip was great. So much fun was had. Def recommend this tour. There were 7 of us on the trip, and everyone had a fantastic time in no small part due to the effort that Joaquin, Marleny, and our drivers (Abel, Edgar, and Carlos) put into making our experience very special. Working with Joaquin to plan the trip was seamless and straightforward. He provided extremely useful information, and when our trip approached he and Marleny finalized the itinerary and provided us with concise yet very important information on how to cross the border and meet our driver. I had never crossed the border on foot, but it was pretty seamless. It's about a 1.5 - 2 hour drive from the border to Ensenada, and I didn't feel comfortable doing that drive on my own, so having Baja Winery Tours provide transportation was essential and eliminated the stress of getting around. Baja Winery Tours set up all the reservations at wineries and restaurants in Valle de Guadalupe. The wineries we visited were on point, and the food was absolutely spectacular. I was glad that we were able to have everything arranged, and be high quality, without having to do a ton of research. On our last full day, our dinner ran a little long and then we hit a bit of traffic getting back to the hotel. Our driver handled these issues with grace and full understanding. I would highly recommend having Baja Winery Tours provide all the logistics and travel if you're planning on visiting the area. We met Mike & Roberta (owners/winemakers) at last summer's "Garagiste Wine Festival" in Glendale, CA, and thought that their 2016 Merlot was the star of the day. We're quite familiar with the wineries in north San Diego County, but we hadn't heard of Effenberger Vineyards, so we made it a goal to visit them for a private sit-down tasting experience, and to check out their property. They hold tastings downstairs in their home, which doubles as a cozy tasting area and production area. Making reservations via their website was easy and follow up communication was excellent. WINES: This boutique winery produces about 120 cases a year which is considered small. Several varietals are grown onsite, and other fruit is purchased from local growers. Mike poured the '23 Estate Bourdeau blend, '23 Cab. Franc, '23 Estate Cab. Sauvignon, '22 Montepulciano, and '21 Syrah. We had a wonderful discussion with them about their history, their wines, our wine interests, etc. After getting to know our likes/dislikes, Mike generously gave us a little extra taste of his Sagrantino (unfortunately, I forgot the vintage). We thought that everything we tasted was well made, and we purchased a couple bottles of the Cab. Franc and Montepulciano to take home with us. Instead of the sea lion tour we ended up doing the Tiki Live! tour at 3pm. This tour is about 2 hours and while you're out on the water you mingle with everyone else and play games that can win prizes for yourself, your party or the whole boat! The games were fun, interactive and silly. At some points we got close enough to shore and made people on land be a part of our games! Donny was our tiki tour master and he was really funny during the whole tour. In between games he just let the music play so we could enjoy the atmosphere and drinks. My entire group left with nothing but great things to say about the whole experience. My friend even won a free tour for another time so we will definitely be returning for more tiki fun.

Tickets were around $47 per person for a 2hr water tour around the Bay in a boat decorated in tiki decor. For tourist this tour is great with a ton of fun information about San Diego and stunning views in the water. Minimum 8 people on the boat or there may be cancellation of the tour. PAY ATTENTION TO DETAILS. The guide will have some friendly trivia for a chance to win good cash prices, free drinks, gift cards, etc I think that was pretty fun to include in while getting a tour. If you are sensitive to getting seasick, I would recommend a Dramamine beforehand. Although the boat was spacious, it still felt the wakes from the other boats and you can go rocking. In addition there were slow times of moving and turning. Or you can just chuck down a few drinks and feel numb to it all! They have a Tiki Bar with a drink menu (no food) to purchase from and if you bring snacks to eat - you can't eat it on the boat. Drinks were good but their "house" made shots were pretty good! We had a couple rounds of those while on tour - paid round by a passenger or a free shot in the house by the staff. The awkward but not so awkward would be mingling with other folks on the boat that you don't know. One of my friends kept interjecting with another party and while they seem to not mind I could tell they were being polite but if it were me I'd probs be annoyed if someone kept interjecting while I'm having a good time with my friends. Although we all got along and occasionally shared cheers with shots. Luckily the boat was near empty with just a few of us to have some space to do your thing.
