I've been wanting to try Happy Place Cafe for quite some time. Seeing their coupon in the Clipper, I decided to give it a try. HAPPY I did. WalkEd in to a charming, English cottage type atmosphere. Was greeted with a smile and led to our seat all while the hostess and I held great convo. Our server was helpful, nice, promp, courteous, her name is Aylene. Opened the menu and pleasantly surprised by the pricing and selection. I ordered a Denver omelet, hash browns and raisin toast. Which was delicious-their butter is SOOO good. My husband got a hot tea, biscuits and gravy, bacon, eggs and hash brown. He spent some time in the South and said this is the best biscuits and gravy he's had in a restaraunt. Do I recommend it? This place is HORRIBLE. I'm not sure who is eating here thinking it's "good," these people clearly do not have taste buds. Ordered the chicken fried chicken, and my husband ordered a gyros. I took one bite of my mass produced frozen stringy chicken and sent it back. My husband took a bite of his gyros and got a box because he hates sending food back but it went in the garbage when we got home. Complete waste of $25 and still had to pay another place for dinner. This was my second time...first time a year or so ago. My go-to for places like this are usually omelettes. I like them hot so the Mexican omelet sounded like a winner. Picture an omelet...go ahead--I'll wait. What I got wasn't an omelet...it was a brown "meatloaf" looking thing. It was "ok", but not what I was expecting and definitely not the traditional omelet (egg base wrapped around chorizo, tomato/onion/jalapeño). I ate half and had to bail. As I said...it was "ok". This restaurant is one you need to go to. They have an extensive menu from breakfast through dinner. I ordered the pork tenderloin as a carry out for lunch today. It didn't disappoint for sure. There were 2 huge tenderloins plus a hot roll and baked potato and a delicious mixed salad. You could have soup or salad. It was delicious and will be another meal as well. I had phoned for a pick up in 30 minutes. I had to wait about 10 minutes after I got there but certainly didn't mind because I knew everything would be freshly made. I have been eating here for years but recently something has changed. First off their prices went up about 30% in the last 6 months which was not a deal breaker for me but I expect better food and quality. What has actually happened is that the quality went down. I ordered the broiled Salmon with a Salad and Potato Skins on Friday for $15.25. One of the potato skins was normal while the other one was thick and way undercooked. The Salmon had a smell and the green beans were mushy. So, I ate the salad and one of the potato skins! Last time I got their ribs they were also undercooked! A friend recommended this restaurant as a great place to have lunch. It was spot on! They have a very large menu with many choices plus daily specials. Prices are very reasonable. I had the turkey dinner. It was real turkey with mashed potatoes and dressing. So much food took home half the meal. Plus I had homemade chicken noodle soup. My friend had the cowboy burger with fried zucchini. She also had the chicken noodle soup. Place is clean. Service is excellent. Lots and lots of variety of delicious food. We have similar type places near my house. But seriously nothing is good as this. Since my friend lives out that way, I know I'll return soon. read more

I picked Happy Place French toast to take out. By the time I got home it was cold but that is my fault. The price went up quite a bit since I first had it. It also was kind of skimpy, especially the vanilla sauce. But it seems to be like that now anywhere, much higher prices and smaller portions. read more

Not the first time I have eaten at HPC. The food is typically very good and very reasonably priced. I had the 2 eggs (not double yolked) with links and hash browns. I asked for the eggs over medium (come out over light) and the hash browns crispy (clearly not). It was overly busy so either the misstep happened between the server taking the order or the kitchen. The other thing that caught me on my back foot was the pricing. I'm pretty sure the price on the menu did not reflect the receipt for the breakfast. I will repeat as I work in the area but at some point I may stand my position regarding the cooking requests of the food. The name threw me off. Neighbors were talking about it but I assumed it was an Asian restaurant. It's not! This is a typical Greek breakfast and lunch menu place with everything on the menu! What sets this place apart is that you have good food, great service and nice ambience all together. Prices are reasonable and I appreciate when they have coupons that come in the mail! The wife usually gets a cheeseburger well done, but she loves the Rueben sandwich here. I typically get a breakfast skillet and have to work to finish it! Staff is accommodating and make this a Happy Place. They must be doing something right because they have been around for over 10 years. read more

When a restaurant brings out warm from the oven bread, my review starts out at 5-stars and then if necessary, I deduct a star or 2 based on the food or service. No need to deduct any stars for this visit. The food was delicious and the service was great. We arrived in the middle of Saturday lunch so it was crowded. Our server brought our food out in a timely manner and was very nice to us throughout our meal. Our request to have the chicken shell soup packed to go was happily fulfilled. Decor is terrible. Seems like they're having a bit of an identity crisis. The blinds have so much dust all over them. There is an emergency exit that is covered by blinds and partially blocked by a 6 person table. Our waitress Cindy, was less than friendly. Seemed incredibly rushed. Came to the table within 20 seconds of us sitting down asking us what we wanted to drink. We didn't have a chance to look at the menu. But whatever. I had the fajita skillet with scrambled eggs. The food was okay very typical of your local diner. There wasn't anything that stood out that was overly delicious. I ordered grits with American cheese, kids pancakes eggs hash browns and turkey sausages. Again all very stand items and all taste decent. I went on a Sunday morning and then we so crowded you could barely get inside. None of the customers waiting seemed upset they chatted and were mostly an older crowd.
