Front cover of their clean, notebook type menu. Full of enticing, hearty selections and with tabs to find exactly what you're looking for.

I've been wanting to try Happy Place Cafe for quite some time. Seeing their coupon in the Clipper, I decided to give it a try. HAPPY I did. WalkEd in to a charming, English cottage type atmosphere. Was greeted with a smile and led to our seat all while the hostess and I held great convo. Our server was helpful, nice, promp, courteous, her name is Aylene. Opened the menu and pleasantly surprised by the pricing and selection. I ordered a Denver omelet, hash browns and raisin toast. Which was delicious-their butter is SOOO good. My husband got a hot tea, biscuits and gravy, bacon, eggs and hash brown. He spent some time in the South and said this is the best biscuits and gravy he's had in a restaraunt. Do I recommend it? ABSOLUTELY! Will be back for sure! I've already told other peeps about it. Now I'm telling you. :)

This restaurant is one you need to go to. They have an extensive menu from breakfast through dinner. I ordered the pork tenderloin as a carry out for lunch today. It didn't disappoint for sure. There were 2 huge tenderloins plus a hot roll and baked potato and a delicious mixed salad. You could have soup or salad. It was delicious and will be another meal as well. I had phoned for a pick up in 30 minutes. I had to wait about 10 minutes after I got there but certainly didn't mind because I knew everything would be freshly made. The restaurant is almost always busy each time I go. This time I decided I wanted to take it home. Their staff are friendly and attentive. Try them because I know you will return!

Not the first time I have eaten at HPC. The food is typically very good and very reasonably priced. I had the 2 eggs (not double yolked) with links and hash browns. I asked for the eggs over medium (come out over light) and the hash browns crispy (clearly not). It was overly busy so either the misstep happened between the server taking the order or the kitchen. The other thing that caught me on my back foot was the pricing. I'm pretty sure the price on the menu did not reflect the receipt for the breakfast. I will repeat as I work in the area but at some point I may stand my position regarding the cooking requests of the food. The things that went well - The server was very friendly and checked in consistently. The dining room was too loud (nice "ambience") The food was hot The $3.50 Bloody Mary seemed like a good value

He frequently brought up politics, demographics, and "statistics" at work in ways that felt inappropriate and often came across as biased. It wasn't the kind of environment I expected from a workplace. I personally chose not to engage with these conversations because I was there to work, and I try to keep my personal beliefs separate from my workplace. However, being repeatedly exposed to these types of comments from management made the environment feel unprofessional. I also noticed that he would tell us certain employees had quit, but after speaking with those employees, I learned that was not always what happened. This made me feel like there was a lack of honesty and transparency in how situations were handled. One comment that really stuck with me was when he told me and another young female employee that we'd be prettier if we spoke more intelligently and that men would like us more. We are both very young girls, and that comment was incredibly inappropriate and made us uncomfortable. I was also told that if I came in early every day, I would receive a $1 raise. I did exactly that, and I received the raise on my final paycheck. Just a few days later, I was fired. It was confusing to be recognized with a raise and then immediately let go without being given a meaningful explanation. I was told I was being fired because I supposedly had an attitude with a customer. When I asked what had happened, I wasn't given a clear explanation and was simply told they had decided not to continue my employment. I work hard, take my jobs seriously, and I rarely leave negative reviews because I know everyone is trying their best. I didn't contact them afterward because I felt I had already been treated disrespectfully. After the way I was spoken to and the lack of honest communication, I didn't feel another conversation would have changed anything. As a customer, I also found the food to be average, especially for the price. Before I even worked here, my mom and I had cheesecake from the café on a few different occasions, and every time it had a noticeable freezer-burn taste. For the prices they charge, I expected much better quality. Based on my experience as both an employee and a customer, I would encourage people to support another family-owned café instead.

Strong and subtly sweet, this coffee is wildly good. They have a bunch of milk alternatives, along with many popular flavoring offerings to choose from. I went with an iced latte and added some lavender syrup. Their lavender syrup was divine. It was sweet, floral, and slightly earthy. It didn't taste artificial, which is a relief. I also got some of their pastries. Specifically the Pan De Bono Bocadillo and the Pastel Dulce. Starting with the Pan De Bono Bocadillo, I was excited to try this. The pros, love the guava filling. It's bright, acidic and subtly sweet. The dough though, it was fine. It is very buttery, but tough. My eyes were not rolling in the back of my head, which is what I like my pastries to do. Next was the Pastel Dulce. The filling, so sweet, a touch of salt. Very decedant. Where the pastry itself was a little on the dry side. Still flaky though. Maybe the pastries would be better if I got them in store, instead of sitting in a car being delivered. Overall, great coffee shop. Glad to see more cultural variety in our food scene out here.

Our family had an amazing time. The food was excellent. We started with a zucchini soup (loved it!). Daughter has a chilled strawberry soup (it was great, like a smoothie w/ cream topped). I had the jammy bird. Fantastic! The jalapeño raspberry jam complimented the candies pecans, turkey & cheddar. Very filling. My wife had the pesto turkey (it was recommended warm). Our daughter did the cheese flat bread. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Teas were excellent. I tried the hot cinnamon spice (my go to didn't disappoint) and tried a recommended Tower of London. Excellent recommendation. My wife enjoyed the Chocolate Chai Supreme and the Tower of London too. We tried a blueberry lemon scone that the three of us shared. Everything is made fresh and in-house and I could tell. Everything was very flavorful. It was a great brunch experience for us. Since we came between "tea times" we were able to meet the owner (was in that day). There was also a special guest there and decided to take the opportunity to get a quick pic w/ the Queen. Loved the owners story (on the front of her menus). Definitely will be going out and have a few friends I know would love it! They have a guest book and noticed people come from all over to visit. I live in Shorewood and didn't realize we had this gem in our back yard. You can tell The Royal Tea Room is a labor of love. We'll be back!

I did not see this message in time so we still Ordered ala carte but here is where my issues come in . Understandable one server things may not be perfect but we received our tea about half full In the teacup. I asked for sugar and a spoon. She took a bit to bring the sugar but not the spoon, I had to ask twice and never did get it. Why would a spoon not automatically be served with tea? Then the food came and we had no forks , I was embarrassed sitting there with my friends as our food got cold and it took forever to get a fork! No refills of tea were given. My food was small and cold except for the toast . It cost $41 which is excessive for what I got . The place is very cute and welcoming but I will Not go back Further, when I addressed these concerns in an email it was ignored

We watched a waitress' at other tables take orders, bring food and visit tables to check with their patrons, however none for our table. After 8 minutes as I was getting up to head to the hostess - a table porter caught my eye as I got up he started heading toward the kitchen. I got to the hostess to inquire if there was even a person assigned to our table and as the hostess looked over my shoulder toward our table a waitress was standing there. This was someone we had not seen going to and from other patrons tables. Makes me wonder if anyone had even told her people were seated in her section. The waitress was personable, however she did make errors in our order; Or she didn't check the food before bringing it out. Because we were pressed for time needing to get to our next destination we just ate and did not have her make adjustments. The breakfast was good nothing extra or special just okay.
