Especially enjoyable were the different tea set designs. Know that the food is all homemade, based on original English Teas. My favourites being the four different finger sandwiches and the Greek salad. The cucumber and club sandwiches were quite popular, as were the scones. I tried to immerse myself in the experience. Lovely spot in old downtown Aurora. Excellent ambiance with well spaced tables. Classic decor in tea room motif. I spent a month on the Queen Mary this past spring and they do tea, every day. The Calla lily has dar better sandwiches in their tea offerings. They are a little light on the pastries, but the fresh fruit is welcome. My girlfriends and I had a wonderful time at Calla Lily Victorian tea room. The owner Tonya and her partner were wonderful. The tea was superb and the food was delicious. We had a three tier delight. The fruit was wonderful with the little eclairs and lemon bars were so good and the sandwiches were just delicious. Brenda had a wonderful birthday and the ambience of this tea room was delightful treasure. Aurora is lucky to have such a wonderful place. The tea room itself is beautiful from the dishes to the tables and chairs to all the little extras they do to make you feel so special. A great place to meet up with friends and chat away while having Tea and Snacks. Had 3 different Teas to try: Hibiscus, Green tea with hint of Mango, and Black tea. Had a tower of snacks; 3 different kinds of sandwiches, sweets, and fruits and scones with homemade spread. Make sure to make reservations. By god who knew tea could be cool? Calla Lily is the most prim and proper place in Aurora for lunch. It of course has teas. Also there's small bites to eat. They also have teabags for retail. Came with the girl for an unexpectedly good brunch. It was appropriate to have brunch here. They seem to get the most business in the later morning hours and are only open until the early afternoon or so. It also is kind of like a store in addition to a cafe. There's teabags, clothing, and other stuff for sale. We had the Citrus Spice. It's $3.50 and comes in a kettle. This is an organic green tea with lemons and exotic spices. It made me feel good on a very cold day. The menu isn't vegetarian friendly, which is the bad thing. For the food we each got a Spring Mix Salad. It's $6.50 for a small. This has carrots, cucumbers, onions, sweet peppers, and tomatoes. It's okay but there's not a lot. The food options aren't the main thing so we expected that. Get some classy European tea and other fine items. It's also like a store. There's some cheaper stuff but there's also more expensive high class things. read more

Wonderful time with my favorite person at work who loves English afternoon Tea. The more you drive towards location the more deserted it looks in far off Aurora but when you finally walk in calla lily it's a pleasant surprise. The teas arranged in beautiful jars , tables and chairs almost Victorian. Well kept and neat family establishment with nice things like tea cosys variety of gifts . The high tea experience was so fun the scones were buttery good and everything tasted delicious. The cucumber sandwiches and best chicken salad sandwiches with cranberry chutney. A couple ladies and I chose Calla Lily as a birthday lunch spot; none of us had ever been before. It's a cute little place in what's a rather sad part of old Aurora (not much else on the street except a taqueria down the block; the area seems to be crying out for more businesses to open up). It's a small storefront filled with tables, and they all filled up by the time we were eating! Everything is charmingly mismatched, from the china to the furnishings (I loved the claw-foot table we sat at). Food was good with just a few hiccups. I ordered the ham, cheese and mushroom sandwich (tasty) and pear-walnut salad (had variety with candied walnuts and dried cranberries, but only a couple slivers of pear). My mother got the pear-walnut salad and added chicken, but it was too tough to cut (she commented on it to the server and he took it off her bill). My friend enjoyed her tomato basil soup and ham, cheese and mushroom panini. We had also ordered tea to start off with, which came in individual pots, but the spout of the pot my mother's came in poured in such a way so as to spill every time she tried to dispense the tea! Dessert was the best part: you can get regular or "dainty" portions (then you can order several!) And don't forget the scones! They come with lemon curd and clotted cream. There was only one server and when the place got full they really needed at least two. Also, he was doing the thing that bugs me with waiters: trying to remember the order without writing it down...except he was getting the dessert wrong from the start, so I suggested writing it (since we were ordering a variety of things and no one wants to get the wrong thing). Servers (& managers), hear me now: there is no shame in writing down orders! Better to get it correct! Overall, though, the food was impressive and it was nice that they strove to correct the error with my mother's salad. I came here for my cousin's bridal shower. They are usually closed for private events on Sunday if you are looking to book for that. Otherwise, you can reserve a time and have tea and sandwiches just because. It was super cute inside. The decor is classy and elegant with mismatched dishware. I have always enjoyed that aesthetic because it feels more authentic. We had a choice of three different teas (black, green, or a floral one I forgot the name of). I asked for the floral one and one of the other girls at my table asked for the black one. I don't normally drink black tea and wanted to try it. Luckily we were able to share. The tea was fabulous. It was warm, soothing, and luxurious. To eat, they had mini sandwiches. They had cucumber sandwiches, chicken salad sandwiches, biscuits with lemon curd and other pastries. Everything was super tasty, but my favorites were the cucumber sandwiches and lemon curd. The inside is rather small, but was perfect for our intimate party. Came here for my mom's bday and it was a nightmare. Tea Luke warm and abnormal flavor. Our high tea for 2 was $75+ and I could have made it at home for less than $10; not to mention that most of what was on it was inedible. We could not even swallow the quiche. Would have been better off getting earl grey and a vanilla scone from Starbucks. Owner left 3-4 times to smoke in the hour we were there. He was very kind, so I hesitated to write this review but I'm still frustrated about this experience; and hope to inspire you to choose a different place to spend your loved one's birthday, or at least inspire Calla Lily to try a little bit harder. read more

I recently had Tea with my granddaughter and I'd have to say Calla Lily Victorian Tea room definitely delivered. The ambiance was wonderful, open and sunny. There are variety of tea pots scattered throughout The restaurant. Along with a wide selection of tea available for purchase. The Afternoon Tea was delightful. The scones were great as well as the finger sandwiches. Each serving of afternoon tea comes with scones. They are served with clotted cream and lemon curd. The tier of cakes and sweets were as beautiful at is was tasty. I love that they had mini tea cups available for my granddaughter. She had homemade hot chocolate (she drank five cup said it was delicious). I'm so glad to find a place to get high tea close by. Traveling to Chicago isn't alway convenient. After coming to Calla Lily Victorian Tea room I would highly recommend it for anyone celebrating an occasion or to treat yourself afternoon tea. I really enjoyed myself today with my family. We made a reservation for 6 people so table was a little crowded but we made due and it was fun! The decor is cute, the food was delicious, and the tea was good. The water wasn't as warm for the steeping so the darker teas lacked some flavor but it was good drinkable temperature. 3 of us did the leek soup and loved it. 2 of them did the barley soup and the guys said it was phenomenal. My dad had a cranberry walnut salad and was quite happy. Of the high tea, my favorite was the chicken salad but my mom and sister loved the egg salad and the cucumber salads more! However, all 6 of us agreed the little quiches were the best of all! Yummm. The desserts were good but as we had done sweeter teas everyone was a little done with sweets and most skipped to the scones (which were delicious). I so wanted this to be a wonderful review. Sadly it is not. I booked this tea for myself, daughter and sister for a unique and fun experience. Our first disappointment was literally waiting 25 minutes after being seated to have tea brought to the table. (We had to ask for it) After waiting nearly a half an hour again just to see the women stop at the table we requested our food. As it was our first time we asked exactly what to expect as far as food and such. She explained the rundown of the food so quickly. There was no interaction with us whatsoever aside from dropping off food, and tea of which we again had to wave her down for. No social interaction, no words. Not a warm inviting place at all. The food was fine. Nothing spectacular but it was okay. It was the whole experience that truly was a major let down. Will definitely not return or would not recommend. read more

The owner/our server was extremely welcoming and accommodating. We started with a salad....I chose a pear and walnut over assorted greens. Delicious. There was, of course, a nice assortment of teas and a lovely three tiered assortment of fruit, finger sandwiches and pastries. All very tasty. Since our visit occurred during the pandemic, I had determined that the tables were distanced properly, and that patrons and staff would be wearing masks. They were. My sister and I came here on a weekday with our young girls (all 6 and under) and the Calla Lily cafe was their perfect introduction to tea! The princess tea was perfect for the kids, who preferred hot chocolate and lemonade to real tea, and PBJ to egg salad, while the adults stilgot to enjoy delicious scones, sandwiches and desserts. This place is amazing! So cute in terms of decor and design. The food is absolutely delicious. My two sisters and I got the high tea which came with soup, tea, and a three tier tray of sandwiches, sweets, scones, and fruit. There wasn't a single thing we didn't love. In fact, we were joking about how the fresh fruit was the lowest point of the tray, even though we love fruit. The tea was wonderfully fragrant, and there was homemade Devonshire cream with everything that was just delicious. I have waited so long watching the owner remodel this space into a tea room. I was very excited today to have High Tea this afternoon with my husband. The atmosphere is very welcoming and calm. Tables, upholstered chairs, china, tea pots, and linens are very pretty. Smooth Jazz playing in the background. We sat first small table by the door. Today, the weather was mild so no problem; however, in winter this may not be the best spot because the front door doesn't latch and stay closed, so there will absolutely be a draft. The servers were very attentive and we didn't feel rushed. So, we were able to visit and enjoy. We had High Tea, which includes your choice of soup or salad with pumpkin scones on the top tier, pastries/sweets on second tier, and finger sandwiches and quiche on the bottom tier. We both started with a squash pumpkin soup that was wonderfully hot and very good. The fruit could have been a fit fresher, but it was still tasty. The scones and devonshire cream were DELICIOUS! The finger sandwiches (cucumber, egg salad, and chicken salad) and quiche were very tasty. The quiche was a ham/cheese and it was yummy too. The pastries were scrumptious. What was served was a little round pastry on the bottom and top with a creamy center; lemon square, carmel/chocolate bar w/graham cracker crumb bottom, and a chocolate brownie truffle. The creamy center one was too sweet for me, but my husband LOVED it so he finished mine and the other three were very, very good and fresh. We chose the Lady Londonberry tea and it was a medium bodied tea with hints of fruits and berries in it. We both enjoyed it. This is one of the house tea blends. There are four choices in the house blends. But, there are probably 15 other premium blends that are an additional $2/person I believe to upgrade. Several products to purchase if you are into that, but we didn't need anything today. We very much enjoyed our experience and will be back. This will be a favorite spot for me to grab tea and scones or just lunch. The afternoon or high teas are more special to me so it would be times for special occasions. You must reserve your spot for high or afternoon tea. They are closed on Sundays for special events. I would LOVE to get a group together for a special event there. read more

We were frustrated to sit 30 minutes beyond our reservation time without menu or even water but finally ordered and when the food arrived; it was delicious. The salmon chowder was incredible and served in a delicate tea cup. Sandwich tasty and fresh but my highlight was a scone, lemon curd and clotted cream. Hidden Treasure! Must share! What a darling little tea room just east of the river. The scones all looked amazing and the lemon blueberry one I had (complete with whipped cream and lemon curd) paired beautifully with a deliciously iced mint tea custom blend. (It was all that.) Myron took great care serving me and I'm already planning my next visit. Had planned to take my mom for tea in Geneva but am changing plans. She needs to enjoy Calla Lily! What first caught my eye was the beautiful mural painted on wall of the building. After tea, I wandered out to look at it and visited with the designer of the project, Rebecca Axtell.
