If you're looking for an experience, you've come to the right place. I am not much of a tea guy, but my wife was looking for experience for us to enjoy together. Our family had an amazing time. The food was excellent. We started with a zucchini soup (loved it!). Daughter has a chilled strawberry soup (it was great, like a smoothie w/ cream topped). I had the jammy bird. Fantastic! The jalapeño raspberry jam complimented the candies pecans, turkey & cheddar. Very filling. My wife had the pesto turkey (it was recommended warm). Our daughter did the cheese flat bread. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Teas were excellent. I tried the hot cinnamon spice (my go to didn't disappoint) and tried a recommended Tower of London. Excellent recommendation. My wife enjoyed the Chocolate Chai Supreme and the Tower of London too. We tried a blueberry lemon scone that the three of us shared. Everything is made fresh and in-house and I could tell. Everything was very flavorful. It was a great brunch experience for us. Since we came between "tea times" we were able to meet the owner (was in that day). There was also a special guest there and decided to take the opportunity to get a quick pic w/ the Queen. Loved the owners story (on the front of her menus). Definitely will be going out and have a few friends I know would love it! They have a guest book and noticed people come from all over to visit. Had a bad experience here. Was so excited to go back with friends after a date here previously with my daughter. 35 minutes before our reservation I was messaged that a server called off and that I would have to change our group to ordering off the tea service ( more expensive less food) or cancel our reservation. I did not see this message in time so we still Ordered ala carte but here is where my issues come in . Understandable one server things may not be perfect but we received our tea about half full In the teacup. I asked for sugar and a spoon. She took a bit to bring the sugar but not the spoon, I had to ask twice and never did get it. Why would a spoon not automatically be served with tea? Then the food came and we had no forks , I was embarrassed sitting there with my friends as our food got cold and it took forever to get a fork! No refills of tea were given. My food was small and cold except for the toast . It cost $41 which is excessive for what I got . We had went to the Royal Tea Room for a baby shower back in March! It is a cute little restaurant tucked away in the strip mall by Target and Chili's. I haven never been to a "Tea Party" or anything of the sort so we had no idea what to expect. They had three options of tea to choose from for the party, there might be more options if you dine in I'm not entirely sure. At first glance, you would think the food would be too small of portions but we were busting at the seams by the end of it all! Food: I took some of my adult education students to a five-course meal here at the Royal Tea Room. They loved it the food and experience. The five course at the time was a cranberry feta salad, a carrot soup, and the tower with savory sandwiches, cookies, cakes and scones. I love the food and ate everything! 5/5 Service: We came on Tuesday around 10:30 am. We were the only ones there until 12 so if you want a quiet time, I would say on the weekday in the morning time would be the best. The server was very nice and attentive! She was very knowledgeable on the teas and accommodate my students. 5/5 Ambiance: The Tea room was clean and bright. I love the decorations. It reminded me a turn of the century tea room I see on TV shows. Very cute place for lunch and a cute idea overall. We had a reservation but absolutely did not need one as there were only three tables that were served during the lunch hour. The tea was good but I wouldn't say spectacular. We had the tea for 2 specials so we had our choice of two tea sandwiches. The cucumber and egg salad sandwiches were the best. The chicken salad was passable but tasted (and smelled) seriously like tuna salad. The "scone" was a biscuit- delicious, but definitely a biscuit. I asked the server about it but she claimed it was a scone (google begs to differ). It's not a place I would go back to unless there was a special occasion like a bridal shower or something similar. Lovely space, very feminine. Good five-course tea service. Finger sandwiches were delicious. Scones were the best I've had. I would have liked the scones to be served with enough whipped cream and butter for the entire scone. Ambiance of venue was excellent. Service was excellent. Food was high quality, although they do not provide enough of the creme/butter/preserves for the size of the scone. Had to pay extra for additional. Creme was the size of a dot, butter a dime and preserves were barely one teaspoon. For the expense of tea service, you should really cover what your guests needs are. Been to the Royal Tea Room several times. Each time was a pleasure. Went today with my friend. The food is always delicious. The Tea is very good. The Service is very good. Today, however, felt a little rushed. Never experienced that before at the Tea Room. Wanted to sip and stay a bit. First time there today. First thing I noticed was a strong perfume scent but the room was beautiful. The lady who served us was friendly and efficient. We ordered Petite Tea I think? and the food was delicious but very sparse for the price ($29) each. Definitely not filling. The strong scent would not be good for someone with smell aversions. Absolutely not worth it. The food is ok and the staff is very friendly, but it truly likes up to being a.strip mall tea place. The chicken sandwich looked like sad tuna salad and was served on a cracker. To get more than a teaspoon of cream and jam its an additional $1.50 for another teaspoon of cream and jam. I attended the Mother's Day brunch at The Royal Tea Room and while I appreciated the effort to create a special experience, a few things unfortunately missed the mark. The staff was friendly, and the tea itself was lovely--easily one of the highlights of the visit. The space is charming and intimate, and I overall enjoyed it. Despite having quite a few servers on hand, service was inconsistent and our table was overlooked more than once. The food was just okay--served cold and in small portions, and it seemed like there wasn't a lot of care in the presentation. The bouquet-making activity was a nice idea in theory, but ended up being disorganized. There weren't enough flowers for all the guests, and no clear direction on how or when to participate, which caused a bit of confusion. While I love the concept of a themed tea room and can see the potential, I probably wouldn't recommend this particular event given the cost and the experience overall. It was quite costly and I could've gone somewhere much more pleasing for the same amount of money. Overall the staff were very nice and the tea room was very cute, but for the specific event, I unfortunately wasn't satisfied. My sister-in-law found this place and invited me and our mothers recently. When you first drive up it's very unassuming due to it's location. Once you step in and take a seat, the experience begins. From start to finish, all 4 ladies in our party we're impressed and delighted with each of the 5 courses we had. The unlimited tea was such a treat. I'm not a tea drinker so this was new for me. The owner Michelle, gave some excellent recommendations and shared her story with how her business came to be. It is a project of food, culture, tea (of course), but in the center is love. Feel bad posting this review but there was just such a cold unwelcoming vibe and lack of customer care! We arrived at venue which was empty of any customers.... we, my daughter and I, were asked rather curtly by the waitress, if we had a reservation before seating us...then she led us to a table with old tired lacy tablecloths and upholstered chairs that were saggy and were reclaimed from a 1970s resale shop... just not fresh and not appearing hygienically clean appearing at all. I had to trade my chair, which lowered me to mid chest level, so I could eat comfortably. Many of the chairs would be fine to just relax in but to eat a meal...no. I ordered the Avacado Toast which was delivered cold on a very hard try cold piece of toast... I requested a serrated knife as the knife supplied would not cut the crust! Hard as rocks. I wouldn't be writing this review at all but the waitress admonished me that the toast was home made and was warm and she had no other options for me and she scurried back into the kitchen...leaving with with my uncuttable "toast". I put the bread aside and ate my hard boiled eggs, Avocado offering which was actually very tasty...we saw no waitress again till she returned to give us a check... out of curiosity I asked for the menu to confirm toast was freshly baked and warm...so I mentioned that the toast was rock hard and cold but was corrected that it was "freshly baked right there in their kitchen"... well ok I guess I was wrong. No apology or offer of compensation... I would have expected an offer of a freshly toasted piece of bread, it was an intriguel part of my meal. To be fair, my daughter was happy with her warm croissant sandwich. I am just very disappointed as I thought Shorewood would be a nice conviennent place to enjoy a meal... meet friends, but the decor was, for me, very off putting. I understand that they were attempting to replicate a romantic tea room but it felt overwhelmingly unsettling...they have a wonderful idea in a community needing a quiet, comfortable venue, but total lack of customer care has spoiled the moment! My husband and I enjoyed Afternoon Tea yesterday to celebrate my birthday. The atmosphere is relaxing and very pretty. The strawberry soup was delicious! All the food was delicious and well presented! The hot tea was great, and I especially enjoyed the iced peach tea!!! The owner was very friendly and helpful! Was looking soooo forward to a Christmas Tea with my 75 year old Mom, in remembrance of my Grandmother who started our tea journey. Invited about 6 people to come with us and thank God they weren't able to join us. The ambiance is okay - it is in a strip mall, but decor felt like a banquet room, not a teahouse, and it was freezing. My Mom ate with her winter coat on even though she had 3 clothing layers. The food wasn't good, the soup was cold, the salad had no dressing on it, the vegetable lasagna was decent when you scraped off the burnt parts (lasagna with tea?) and the spice cake was okay, but nothing I'd go out of my way for. The tables around us all discreetly said the same thing. We thought we would give it another chance though because the tea was good, Sophia our server was outstanding and we enjoyed Lauren on the harp! Until --- my Mom kindly asked for a little bag or container to put her 3 tea sampling bags in to take home and remember our time together tomorrow (loose leaf tea can be re-steeped a few times and she didn't want to waste them because she enjoyed them), the owner came out chastising us for wanting to take the tea bags (food was okay, but not the tea?). Not only did she chastise us, but loud enough for the entire space to know something was going on. The table next to us apologized when she walked away, because they also had asked for the tea bags to go and didn't know we had too, so they thought she was chastising us for their request. Seems we all enjoyed the tea, but nothing else. Needless to say our 3 separate tables all agreed we wouldn't be back.
