Walking in Leucadia Liquor I overheard the lady in front of me say to her friend, "I love this place cause of the wine and ice cream selections." Girl was not lying! The variety of wines was definitely above average, but on the ice cream front they're well ahead of most liquor stores I've ever been to. I'm probably eating more frozen treats these days than I am drinking fancy red blends, so for me this was a big positive. The guy working the counter was really friendly and helpful, and of course you can't help but be a little in awe of the awesome sign they have. It's about 50 feet tall and easy to see from a few blocks away. If you're anywhere close to this area it's pretty hard not to at least stop into this store for a look.

The sign is all fixed up now.

In a community enamored with funk, it is no surprise that we cherish the iconic 40 foot tall turquoise Leucadia Liquor sign. For years the sign was missing a letter, but they fixed it and now our community is whole again. I think of it as the mast of our community by the sea. Their shelves are stocked with every type of liquor, a decent wine selection and some local craft beers to complete the lineup. I typically stock up on craft beers and don't mind paying a little bit more to support a locally owned funky small business. Rumor has it that the spiritualists who named Leucadia after a Greek island danced in white robes. I suspect the dancing was fueled by liquor, so I will drink and dance for the sake of tradition.

Solid liquor store if you're in need of something good, lots of the newest releases from local breweries, very surprised they carry such a large assortment and can turn it over quickly.

The cornbread is hands-down the best and a must-order every single visit! So far I've had the Poke N Chips, BG Bones, and grilled cheese with tomato soup, and every single item has been flavorful, fresh, and perfectly prepared. It's rare to find a place where everything on the menu is consistently this good. The atmosphere is always great, the food is outstanding, and it's become one of my favorite spots in Encinitas. Whether you're stopping by for drinks, lunch, or dinner, you really can't go wrong. Highly recommend I'll definitely be back for more cornbread!

My burger had very little flavor. The meat was dry, it was still edible just wouldn't order it again. The Caesar salad was fantastic!!!! The lettuce was amazing and the dressing was absolutely delicious. My mother ordered the fig burger with a side of onion rings and instead she got fries and there was no goat cheese on the burger. However she still loved the burger. Also all the pictures online show that they have WAFFLE FRIES - THEY DO NOT. The service was good and they were helpful in fixing the issues with the onion rings. Ambiance is very loud being right on the 101 but it's not terrible.

They definitely have a huge selection. I like using the discounts in the app as well since sometimes they aren't the cheapest. The staff is usually helpful and I enjoy happening upon the tastings they have. I have tasted quite a few things that I then purchased. I have also taken several classes at this location. I always take away new knowledge which I appreciate. The last class I took was my favorite so far. I liked most of the wines I tried whereas others not so much. I even bought a bottle of the one I liked most. The charcuterie they include is an added bonus. The sommelier teacher (Bill) is knowledgeable and answers questions happily and throughly. They offer a variety of class topics and it's very reasonably priced for a wine class.

In place of the iconic Royal Liquor sign is a similar sign for WineCo. The man at the counter turned out to be the same gentleman who I have seen for years, and nothing changed inside. I am happy to report that this store is packed to the brim with beer, wind and liquor. Like ~90% of the independent liquor stores in the county, 101 Wine is Caledonian staffed and owned, just the way I like my liquor stores. I trust them. The name change is due to their online wine sales business. I removed one star because the name and new sign represent the gentrification of this funky town. This is walking distance from the new high end hotel and adjacent to a recently approved high density housing project that are stripping the character out while pulling in more bread. You will still find the same products that have been available previously, but this little hometown gem just sold a little of it's soul.
