My mother, sister and I went to Le Vant the other weekend to get manicures - kind of a "girls-day-out". My sister booked the reservation for us, choosing Le Vant because it was nearby and because they had the time available to take all three of us on somewhat short-notice. I think Le Vant wants to be more of an upscale salon, rather than a local beauty-parlor. The services they offer and their prices sure make it look like they're more upscale. Hmmm. The space looks like someone started with a large open room, and got someone's brother-who-does-drywall to come put up walls to create little individual rooms for 'haircuts', 'hair color', and 'nail-services' (It's possible that someone else's brother may have come out to sponge-paint the whole place). Upon arriving I needed to use the restroom and found what you'd find at your neighbor's house: A single (slightly damp) hand towel hanging on a bar for you to dry your hands with - not the most sanitary of conditions. Ew. This was the first sign about what kind of experience we'd have. Walking back to the nail-services room, one has to wander around several random corners, through the area with the washer/dryer and within inches of the colorist's chair. Again, not anything horrifying, but if I'd been getting color done there I don't think I'd want to feel like I was having it done in a Laundry Room, and have everyone wandering right by my chair as if I were on display. The nail-services room is nice enough, quite roomy, with three stations for manicures and three pedicure chairs - nothing terribly fancy, but nice. They do have a lovely selection of nail polish colors - including OPI. I brought a bottle of OPI from home, just in case I didn't see anything I liked, and in the end went with it simply because I didn't want to spend any more time trying to make up my mind. All three of the nail technicians seemed fairly young - two of them could have been very recent high-school graduates. Not that there's anything wrong with that, however the gal who worked on my nails seemed.... new at it? Okay, you know that feeling you get in your fingers/hands when you scratch your nails down a chalkboard? Not the sound, just the feeling. I think she was holding the emery board at a wrong angle or something - it felt a whole lot like that a good portion of the time. I should have said something, I know, but I thought: "Um, I think you're doing it wrong" would have been just kind of rude, huh? It was at this point that I noticed that we were all using reusable emery boards and that's something else that kind of bothers me. I also couldn't see any place where they might be sanitizing any of their other tools. Sure, that might have been just around the corner in another part of the salon, but if those things aren't within my line of sight (and there was plenty of space in this room for it) then I get paranoid that people are just using soap and water at the sink and are calling it a day. The shape of my nails was decent, but no better than I could do myself at home, and the very tips were kind of jagged because the emery-board was one of those super-hard gritty ones that I think you're supposed to use on acrylic nails, not natural nails (which also may have contributed to that horrible chalkboard feeling). She did push back and trim my cuticles, but again, no better than I could have done at home. Hand massage was only really enough to slather on some super-sweet-smelling lotion, which I washed off when I got home (I don't understand places that don't use unscented products). The polish seemed nicely done (air-bubbles only on my thumb) but within three or four days it was all chipping. The last thing that bothered me was while we were sitting there, a couple of gals from reception came back to let our techs know that their next hair appointments were already there (so not strictly nail-technicians) and proceeded to say something to the effect of: "I don't know, I think she cut it herself or something, and the color?? Is PINK." and then they all had a good laugh together. Not professional. I felt bad for the gal who they were talking about - I was embarrassed for her. Okay. The final word is that although everyone was nice enough, and I got my nails done which is a nice treat, there isn't anything at all about this place that would make me ever want to go back. It's a local-yokel beauty-parlor masquerading as a Fine Salon - you can get the same quality of service at places that are much cheaper, and you can get much better service for the same price at much nicer places. I've been going here for many, many years, and I want to thank all of the stylists who have worked with me. Chris always told me how much she liked my hair--fun to work with. I'd let her do whatever she thought best, and it always turned out really nicely (she's off to another career now, which is great for her but sad for me:( I have to say that Doreene is great too, as well as Erin. I got my first manicure and pedicure over the weekend. It was thanks to a groupon that was basically half price for both for 2 people. So I went with my pregnant wife to get on her good side, haha. Plus, she's been carrying around our baby for the last several months, so I thought it'd be a nice treat. The place is an unassuming building with an ample parking lot. I've never really gone to many salons so I was kinda worried it might be one of those places where you feel like you really don't belong. But, it's not. We had a Saturday reservation. Everyone was friendly from the receptionist to the techs. Lori and Erin were the girls who worked on me and my wife. They were friendly and talkative and did a nice job (then again, I'm not really sure I could tell if it was terrible, but my wife was happy). The area in the back was clean and the chairs were pretty comfortable. They offered us drinks and reading material while we soaked. My wife and I were wondering how they decide who gets the guy and who gets the girl in these couple situations. On the one hand (or foot?), guys are probably less delicate but on the other hand, you don't have to paint their nails. After the cutting and cuticles, my feet and calves were scrubbed with some sugary substance and there was a massage on the feet as well. Anyway, all in all the pedicure was fine, I have no complaints. Then I sat in the manicure chair and my nails were filed, and cuticled and massaged and soaked. Again, no complaints. I don't know that I would ever spend more money to do it again, but if I ever did feel like doing it again, I'd probably come back. read more

I have dark brown hair that grows fast. I have always colored it myself at home trying to make it lighter so that the skunk stripe of gray didn't show up as fast! but, no matter what color I tried, it always went to dark brown. So, I decided to get it done professionally. I went to Erin at this salon, on a recommendation, admittedly nervous about what would be done. she took so much time just talking to me beforehand and explaining color, showing me what she felt would work best color wise and taking her time applying it. all I can say is oh my god why didn't I go to her years ago??!! I love what she did, how she is blending the colors... so happy with her work! read more

i LOVE this place!! Erin is by far the best stylist out there (esp if you have curly hair!!). i have been going to Erin for a few years now. i recently moved to the city and decided to try a place out here. All i needed was a trim so how hard could that really be? Boy did i make a big mistake!! The woman totally messed up my hair! I have an appointment on friday to see Erin. She is a miracle worker and I know she can fix it!! She even straightens my hair which is a big deal because my hair is long and thick! Erin is always smiling, laughing, talking and having a good time. she is a fantastic stylist!!! I tell everyone I know to go here and ask for Erin. read more

Up until recently, I've opted for more wallet-friendly 'salons' like Great Clips and Sports Clips, but one too many botched haircuts led me to start trying out some of the more 'upscale' salons in the area. Le Vant was the second spot I looked and I'm already looking for a third. Everyone seemed nice enough until I sat down and, from that point, I think our only exchange was "How's that look?" "Good, thanks." My stylist seemed to be cutting chunks of hair at random with the precision of a lawn mower and I can still smell stale cigarettes in my hair after a shower. After about ten minutes of cutting, it sort of seemed like the stylist just got bored and announced that that was it. The cut I wanted required a fair amount of styling in order for the hair to stand up, but I guess that wasn't included in the $25 bill. Not sure how they were confident that the cut looked right without ever seeing it, but I guess that's why they're the pros. After getting back home and finishing the styling myself, I realized there were numerous chunks of hair left untended. The only reason I'm giving Le Vant two stars (rather than one) is because Great Clips is having a $7.99 haircut sale! With the money I saved with Le Vant's 20% coupon, getting my hair fixed will practically be free! read more

Agree w the review describing the atmosphere as warehouse ish. Not like a spa at all. I could deal w this if the mani/pedi I received was any good but it was horrible! I get monthly services but my regular spa was fully booked. Next time I will wait for an opening! Polish wasn't even applied properly. After 6 hours (seriously!) I tried on a pair of shoes and the thick Polish was ruined. No chip nails also not applied properly. Ended up getting both redone w/in 2 days as I was departing for vacation. I tried to think of a reason to give this place more stars and I just couldn't think of any. read more

I kindly received a gift card from Le Vant Salon which I used toward a pedicure. While the staff was quite young, I enjoyed their enthusiasm and felt that they did a nice job of welcoming me and making me feel comfortable. I loved the color and massage that came with the pedicure. My only question was that for $47 I thought that my peidcure would have included a clear top coat. Either way, I'd try them out again. read more

I have been going to Le Vant for 10+ years to get my haircut and i cannot imagine going anywhere else. I get consistently terrific haircuts but the best part of going there is the staff. They are incredibly friendly and have all the local Wheaton news. They also have longs hours which helps for the professionals out there read more

I've literally been coming to this salon since I was a little kid, because my aunt used to work here before she moved to Wisconsin a while back. The hairdressers and everyone who works here are always really friendly, and I've had the same hairdresser, Erin, for probably about 4 years. I only let her or one of the other stylists cut my hair when I get it done because I've done hair modeling before and I'm very picky about the way I want it. They do great hairstyles for dances and special occasions. I've gotten my hair cut for Locks of Love twice here, and I'm not sure if they still do free haircuts for that, but both times I did that the haircut was free. The only reason I'm not giving Le Vant 5 stars is they had a price increase a year or two ago, and in this economy it's hard to afford stuff like that, but this is a very nice place to go to treat yourself and definitely a really good place to get a haircut or hair color. read more

i went to this salon because my husband gave me a gift card. to my amazement my husband did a fabulous job. i now will only go to this place. it is like home away from home!! the staff is so nice and will do anything you need or ask them to do for you! i had a great day and all my services turned out well. i have naturally curly hair and have always have had problems with hair cuts. i now found my miracle!! her name is erin. she did such a fabulous job on my hair!! i would recomend this salon and erin to everyone and anyone!!!! read more
