This was my first time going to Vinni's Salon and Spa, and will most definitely be my last time going there. Everything seemed fine in the beginning, but as I was getting my arms waxed, I quickly noticed how the lady was rushing to get the job done. I had to inform her of multiple spots she missed, multiple times. I have thick, course hair, which usually is able to be removed easily. I wasn't sure why she couldn't see all of the hair on my arm that she was leaving behind. Once the wax was done, I made my way to the register to pay. I already knew that the price for a full arm wax was $30, and I noticed the prices were also listed on the wall behind the register. However, the lady at the front made a big deal about giving me a "10% discount" since it was my first time there. I was happy at first, until I realized that she was charging me $35 instead of the $30, and then taking 10% of the $35. I was going to speak up about this, but decided to let this lady think that she could take advantage of the situation (which she clearly did). She then made a big deal about leaving a review, so here I am leaving my genuine review of this place. I don't like being scammed, and I don't like when businesses take advantage of customers by charging them different amounts than what is listed on their website, as well as on the poster inside the spa. I have been here many times and loved the threading service and the price. The last time I came in which was summer of 2023 Vinni herself did my threading, she was nice and courteous. However, she knowingly overcharged me. I realized later after thinking that it was a lot more than usual. I also tipped well. Very disappointed in a business owner to be dishonest. Shame on her. Short version, tech did not listen on length, did not ask on shape and then did shape that was opposite to what i had, to many coats causing glob of polish, and no-chip is chipping after 4 days!!! I went here by seeing a no-chip special on Groupon. When I called the lady told me not to buy the Groupon that she will match the price in store. They fit me right away which was great. The nail tech and other staff where extremely friendly. The atmosphere wasn't the bad but wasn't exceptional either. So this is where I break down the issues..... they have a very, very, very, small choice of no chip colors. I had to ask if there where other colors, she said no, i told her I changed my mind and was going to leave thst didnt gave any colors I liked. She asked what color and I said bright glitter red. She had it so I stayed. The nail tech did not soak my hands very long at all for the manicure and the water was room temp. When she cut my cuticles it hurt, I'm guessing it was due to temp of water and lack of soak time. Nail length and shape, i told her I wanted them all even,some where shorter. All of my nails where square shape. She didn't even ask what shape. She cut the first one down almost to nothing, of course they weren't going to be even now. Still didn't ask about shape she just started making them oval . This was this past friday, as of yesterday only 4 days later the polish is chipping and peeling from the cuticle end of my nails. Also she put several coats on. A few nails are gloppy looking on the end and. I will not be going back. And I def dont recommend. The last time I was here my nail tech was Noor. Unfortunately she was on vacation. Today I had Rosa or Rosie, I forget. There are only two girls in the salon that do nails. She butchered my cuticles and made three of them bleed. She seemed to be fairly meticulous with putting on the first coat of my no chip manicure. The second coat was very spotty. When I left there I thought it looked like at least three fingers on my left hand weren't completely coated, but I couldn't really tell until I took my contacts out. You can see in the pictures that she couldn't even cover all of the nail beds on my left hand. I honestly don't think it was any better of a job than I could have done myself. I will not be returning. You at least expect your nail tech to do a better job then you could have done yourself! read more

I received a groupon for my birthday and called to make an appointment for a gel mani and regular pedicure. I wanted to make the apt for Monday 9/4 but they were closed due to labor day. While this was disappointing I made an appointment for Sunday just before I had to go to work at 11 am. I called at 10am on sunday to see if there was an apt available for my boyfriend also to get a pedicure and they said yes 11 was fine. I asked if they could confirm my apt was still good for 11 am and they said well the other apt should be about 15 min wait time...still didn't confirm my previously scheduled apt so I asked again. finally she confirmed both appointments and I went to the salon. Upon arrival, there was only 1 pedicure station, which was already in use. I went to the register to redeem my groupon and the woman, who was confusing on the phone earlier, was helping me. she insisted that I was not showing her the voucher and I let her know it was a gift and the document was the only thing I had to show her, plus, it said VOUCHER right on the paper. she was behind her computer screen "typing" in the voucher # and kept saying it was not valid. I went around to her screen and the field was not populating when she typed (eye roll). I instructed her on how to redeem the groupon and magically when I was watching, it worked no problem. After the payment fiasco occurred I was told to sit and wait until the pedicure spot was open and then it would be my turn (funny how they said it would be a 15 min wait for my boyfriends appt...he sat there for almost 45 mins waiting since they only could do one person at a time). I picked my colors and was grateful I did not have the same rude lady doing my toes. the woman who ended up doing my pedicure was quite pleasant, easy to talk to and sweet. while her personality was great, I would not pay to have a pedicure done by her again. she didn't cut and file cleanly not did she paint the entire toe nail (the sides on all my toes were left bare as well as the lower part of my toe nail closest to the cuticle. I did instruct her to re paint a few. She assured me my toe nails were dry after a while as I mentioned I had to put closed toed shoes on for work. (they were not dry and my big toe on each foot was ruined by the end of my shift) After my toe nails were done, it was on to my no chip manicure which happened to be with the same lady who couldn't redeem my groupon properly. I will say I have very short nails. she filed a little and trimmed my cuticles and began doing my no chip manicure. I had to ask her a few times to do the sides of my nails and to go all the way down to the cuticles so that my entire nail was covered. It all seemed very rushed and sloppy and 1 day later my nails were chipped. During the manicure I did apologize to her for getting frustrated about the scheduling issue and groupon issue as I do not like to have ongoing conflict. she accepted and we moved on. The woman doing my nails had beautiful henna tattoos on her wrists and hands and I inquired about it. she said she does it and its very quick and inexpensive. I decided to do it. she proceeded to do an absolutely beautiful henna tattoo on my left hand which she confirmed would last about 2 weeks. I followed her instructions on letting it dry and flaking it off. I was really thrilled with the results...for about 18 hours. After 24 hours of having the henna tattoo the bulk of the tattoo on my hand had faded so much you could hardly see it. The only thing that was left was the ink on my one finger. By day 2 you couldn't see any part of the design that was originally drawn on the top of my hand. I was quite disappointed with the results as I was on vacation starting Tuesday and the henna had already gone away. Before I left, I paid the $10 for my henna and tipped each lady $5. Overall, I was not very impressed with the quality of the services I received. I will not be back and definitely will not be recommending this place to anyone I know. read more

I would like to start by saying the ladies here were very nice and the customer service was wonderful. The owner was great which is what makes this review difficult. She even did a complementary eyebrow threading while I waited and did a great job! I went in for a gel manicure and a pedicure and my technician did a horrible job. My nails are incredibly sloppy and the polish is all over my cuticles. Because it's gel, it's hardened that way and I can't clean it up. This is the sloppiest manicure I've ever seen. The regular polish on my toes is slightly better, but still disappointing. I went there today to treat myself but I very much regret going. read more

Let's start with, I should have written a review about this place the first time I came so I wouldn't have made the mistake of coming again. I purchased a Groupon about 2 years ago for a brazillian wax and it was the worse experience I have ever had. Eventually I found an esthetician from Groupon that I absolutely love, but she was out of town. (Go to MaryAnn at SpaBlu or Shiwanna at Bella Amora Spa) My first experience(2013): At the time I have had about 2 brazillians (years before this). I come into the salon, I'm greeted with "eyebrows"? And I tell her that I had a Groupon for a brazillian. I get ushered into a small room in the back. She never tells me her name. She proceeds to wax with strips, which tore my skin up. I left with the most painful brazillian ever. I was bleeding, extremely red and bumpy, and still had SO much hair left! :( At this time I didn't know if this was normal and I was second guessing ever getting a wax again based on this experience. I was doing a penguin walk the rest of the day because it hurt so bad. I made a mental note to NEVER come back. My second experience(2016): I purchased a Groupon for a brazillian because my regular lady AND my back up esthetician were booked and/or out of town. As soon as I pulled into the parking lot, all of the terrible memories came flooding back! (I live about 30 mins away and the GPS took me a different route so I didn't recognize the place until we were there.) I didn't remember it being the same name of the salon. I remember reading all of the wonderful reviews the salon received. (I need to look better next time because all of the reviews were about nails, eyebrows, and hair stuff) I sat in the car, debating if I should go. I had made an appointment so I started walking up....and I turned around! Then I thought "It can't be that bad. Maybe a different person will be doing it". So, I walk in... First thing the lady says is "eyebrows"? (I should have said YES! Got them done and left!!) I let her know that I was there for a brazillian. We go into the same room in the back. (I get brazillians on a quarterly basis now, so I know how they should feel) I climb on top of a table that is higher than my chest. (I don't remember that from my first experience). She gets to work without any cleaning, drying, or numbing of the area. While she is applying the wax, it's so sticky it feels like it's pulling my skin. Then she uses the strips! Like the same ones you buy at the store for the at home wax kit!! (These should never be used on a sensitive area. Hard wax only) It hurts a lot. Then she takes the used strip and attempts to pick up any hair left behind so she is using the strip on the same area about 4 times! It hurt. Finally it was over, she squirted baby oil in my hand and threw a box of wipes on the bed and left. I was appalled. I was so happy it was over even though I was in so much pain and I had so much hair left. :( At that point, I didn't care. I just wanted to get out. She then tells me if I like her work to come back and she will do a brazillian for the same price I had paid for the Groupon. NO THANK YOU. I wouldn't come back if it was free. It was the most unpleasant experience I have ever had. I have contacted Groupon to take that sale down because I feel bad for the next person that goes into the salon for the same service. Their other services are probably wonderful, but please DO NOT go here for a brazillian. I'm saving you pain, a bad experience, and the wrong idea of what a brazillian truly is. read more

Worst pedicure ever! The tech that did my pedicure was in a rush. My skin around my toes are covered with polish. There is no drying station. After sitting for 20 minutes my toes were not dry. The tech had me hold a hairdryer over them for 10 minutes and they were still not dry. She insisted they would be fine. I asked her to wrap them and she said they don't wrap the toes. When I got home there were are smudged. On my way out the tech tried to charge me $36. When I informed her the pedi was only $29 she said the charge included an eyebrow service. I did not get an eyebrow service. Hence she was trying to over charge me. BAD service!!! read more

Yeahhhhhhh not a super huge fan of the place. Although the staff are fairly nice and I had a lovely time chatting while I got my nails done, I had a few issues: 1) The Groupon is a little misleading. It says for $1 you get a no chip, but when you go in they tell you it's for $12 off a no-chip. I knew it was too good to be true so I hesitated to write a review for that alone. However, at the end they still charged me $24 for the no-chip? So, what, is the regular price $36 for the worlds most chippable no chip? No thanks! 2) my no-chip started chipping 2 days later! On multiple fingers! It hasn't even been a week and almost every nail is chipped in someway. 3) I also had some waxing done and I will second what others have said. It's like their wax isn't fresh, or it's poor quality, or isn't heated properly or something. It's suppppper sticky and HURTS going on. Not so bad on the tear off, but I've never had wax hurt so bad going on! Be cautious when you buy their Groupon and be double cautious when you go in. Nice people, but not nice services. read more

Review for eyebrow services only!! Ladies it is hard to find a good eyebrow threading place. A lot goes into your eyebrows. Time, money, convenience, service, skill and accuracy. I've bounced around dupage country trying to find the best spot. I've been coming here for a few months now and have had a few different girls and they are all better than most. One girl, Aisha, although as friendly as a raccoon, did a good job, most importantly she did it quickly (get it over with, it hurts!). I went in today asking where she was because she hasn't been around lately and the nicest lady helped me instead. Turns out to be the owner! She did the absolute best job on my eyebrows, was skillful and fast, and even thanked me for coming in all the time. Their prices are good and they give you a punch card for the 7th free. Save yourself time and pain. I purchased a Groupon for a Brazilian wax. I scheduled an appointment but when I arrived, they were too busy giving each other pedicures. Way to be ready for your client. Smh. I presented my Groupon for redemption and was told not to purchase the groupon anymore and they would give me the groupon price. After waiting 10 minutes, they were finally ready. I walked into a dark room and they gave me the nastiest pillow they could find. It had juice and dirt stains all over it. I could not lay on it. Then I was given a bottle of something to prep the area. No towel, no gloves, no napkins. I was expected to put the solution in my hands and rub it on my private. And they failed to realize it's their job to prep the area. Then they wouldn't close the door so I could get undressed. I pushed it closed. I finally got on the bed the size of a crib and my legs were hanging off. I'm only 5'4. Then everything continued to go downhill. She used a roll on wax and I was shocked. How many other privates has this roll on deodorant thing been on? And when she pulled the hair...Jesus help me. Clearly she's not experienced. She did not place her hand there to apply pressure to ease the pain. And she was so excited to show me how much hair was pulled out on her first try. I have no interest in show and tell. After 15 minutes of this painful experience, she said she was done. She admired her work and when I looked down there, I looked like Fire Marshall Bill. There were still patches of hair. I refused to ask her to fix it. I just wanted to get out of there. read more

I found a Groupon for this salon last week and immediately called in to make an appointment. Vinni picked up and was the sweetest thing ever on the phone!! I had such a LOVELY experience there with my friends. We all got no chip manicures, paraffin hand treatments, and pedicures not to mention complementary eyebrow threading. They all treated us like family and made sure we were well taken care of. Vinni offered us tea and cookie while we were getting pampered. I went to Vinni's Salon and Spa for a no-chip mani pedi and it was by far one of the worst salons I have ever been to. I showed up about 5 minutes early to my appointment but I had to wait 35 minutes before they were ready for me. The actual mani /pedi was not enjoyable and the outcome looked terrible. I couldn't even ask to fix them because before I was even given a chance to see my nails the woman working on them got up and left. The staff was rude, the tools were not sterile whatsoever, and there was no evidence of cleaning stations between customers. They do not do well with naturally curly hair. My daughter went in for a hairstyle for prom. Her hair had beautifully naturally curly hair. People thought she paid thousands for her curls. She has straightened her hair many times, with blow dry and brush or straight iron, both at home and in salons. After every straightening wash out, her curls would come right back. She chose this salon because they were close to home, normally she would have gone to 87th and harlem. I was out of the state so she chose to stay local. After her visit to the salon and $60 and two weeks later, her curls have never returned. The owner tried to say that "in all her years, she has never seen this happen"...but it did and it sucks. My daughters hair is now dried out, loose and stringy and frizzy "curls". Got less than half the money back, and a bottle of coconut oil. Never again. Ever. read more

Went here to treat myself to a no chip manicure and my 11 year old to a no chip mani/regular pedi and hand paraffin was dip (she is a rock climber and her hands get demolished...season is at a lull so it really is a special treat0. Went there having a Groupon for her and myself. When I walked in EVERYONE was VERY nice and pleasant. Talkative. Would go back for the conversation but NOT for the services. While I was getting my mani done, there were several times cotton fibers ( from the cotton balls) were either on my nail or on the polish brush during application. No biggie really. Things that got me mad...on four of my nails I have bubbles...i can feel the bubbles..not really noticeable until the nail is in the right light. Second, I got the service done Thursday. By the next morning, I already had a chip! You may be wondering "oh you did something" nope, I actually got sick over night and was in bed all day Friday. My daughter had her mani chip the next day as well. She ended up going to the pool Friday and called me complaining on how the "no chip" mani sucks and her pedi already came off! I saw it and a pedicure should not last only one day!!!! I gave the salon two stars because they were nice. I would only give it one for service. Not going back there. read more

I made an appointment for a no chip manicure (Groupon), and ended up receiving so much more. The owner. Vinni, remembered me from making the appointment and was very friendly. After my manicure and beautiful complimentary eyebrow threading, she offered a discount on a mini facial. I took her up on her offer and can honestly say, it was one of the best facials I've ever had. She also did an IPL treatment on me as well, at the same time explaining her background in the spa business and her passion for helping women and others feel their best. The manicure was done quickly and was beautiful. I look forward to going back again for another IPL treatment and nail treatments.
